Chapter 1

"Uuuugh…" Hop Pop groaned out as he nursed a splitting headache.

Not long after reuniting with Sprig and Polly, who Anne and Hop Pop forced to cross Quarreler's Pass, the group had decided to stop at a nearby rest stop, to get some rest for the night.

They were still a few days away from Newtopia, and they desperately needed an opportunity to rest…

Especially Hop Pop, considering Anne had just kicked him off a cliff.

"I said I was sorry…" Anne said dejectedly under the glare of Sprig and Polly.

"Yeah, but pushing off of a cliff just because he mentioned your… uh… b-word… is a little extreme." Sprig pointed out, trying not to make Anne mad.

"Don't get me wrong, that was RAW!… But he kinda didn't deserve that much." Polly said.

"I know, I know… Sorry, I just really didn't want to talk about that." Anne explained.

"Why? I mean, if you don't mind me asking." Sprig asked.

"I… no, you wouldn't understand."

"Try me." Sprig said.

"Seriously dude… It's just… it's a human thing… I think? Do frogs also have… no? Maybe? I don't know." Anne said, going back and forth with herself. "Listen, I'll tell you when the time is right, ok?"

Deciding to relent, Sprig and Polly just sighed.

"Alright fine." Polly said before yawning. "Well, I am gonna get some shut-eye! See you tomorrow!"

And with that, Polly went back inside the fwagon to get some much needed rest.

Sprig then got up and began to follow.

"You know, you can trust me with anything, right?" Sprig asked.

"Of course I know… but…"

"Even if I don't really understand what's happening, even if it is just a human thing, just know that I am always willing to listen, just like a best friend would!" Sprig said before yawning and turning to the fwagon.

"… Sprig, wait."

Sprig turned back to Anne, confused.

"You're right, I should trust you more…" Anne said. "I'll tell you what's up… but you have to promise to keep this between us, ok?"

"My lips are sealed!" Sprig said with a smile.

"I mean it dude, this is very personal!"

"I got it! So, what's up?" Sprig asked.

"Well… do you know of any girls that… well… like other girls?" Anne asked.

"Of course!" Sprig says. "I mean, Ivy and Polly get along just fine!"

"No no no… I mean, romantically." Anne corrected.

"Ooooooh! …Nope! Can't say that I do!"

"Ok… well, now you know at least one that does…" Anne said nervously.

"… I don't get it…"

"Ugh, the reason that I acted that way with Hop Pop, is because I'm not interested in boys that way." Anne said. "I am, what we call on Earth, a lesbian."

"Uh… huh…" Sprig said. "Neat!"

"… That's it?" Anne asked. "I come out to you and that's all you have to say?"

"I mean, what more is there to say?" Sprig asked. "You like girls! So what? Is it really that big of a deal? You're your own human Anne, who am I to say what you should or shouldn't love?"

Anne… was shocked. She was kind of expecting Sprig to make a big deal out of it, or not get it at all… but he was surprisingly calm and understanding about it.

"That was… actually really nice of you to say dude… thanks." Anne said with a smile.

"No problem Anne!" Sprig said smiling back. "So… I am almost scared to ask… since you like girls and all…"

Anne knew immediately what he was about to ask.

"No, I never liked Sasha that way." Anne said bluntly.

"Ok good!" Sprig said with a sigh of relief. "No offense, but she's a jerk!"

"Yeah, well, she's still my friend." Anne said. "Just because I don't like her like that, doesn't mean I don't care about her…"

"Yeah, I guess…" Sprig said.

Normally, he would of left it at that, however, his curiosity got the better of him.

He had no way of knowing it at the time, but he asked a question that would result in a big change to their future.

"So is there anyone you DO like?"

"Huh? Oh uh… yeah… there is…" Anne said, her face turning slightly red.

"Ooooooh! Tell me! Tell me!"

"Uh… no?"

"Oh come on, I let you know that I liked Ivy right away, why can't you tell me who you like?" Sprig asked.

Anne groaned. He had her beat there.

"Ok fine…"

She then pulled out a photo from her bag, of her and her two best friends.

"See this girl on the right?" Anne asked, pointing to Marcy.

"Marcy right? You mentioned her before." Sprig asked.

"Yeah… she's who I like." Anne explained.

"Oooooooooooh!" Sprig said with a grin.

"What?"

"So THAT'S why you want to find her so badly!" Sprig said with a knowing look.

At that moment, Anne's blush got so bad, even she could see it.

"SPRIG!"

"Hey, it's cool. I mean, I would do the same for Ivy after all!" Sprig continued to tease.

"While that is sweet and I am sure Ivy would love to hear it, CUT IT OUT!"

"Nope! I am milking this as much as I can!" Sprig said with a laugh.

"SPRIIIIIIIIG!"

"Oh my frog! Be quiet out there!" Polly shouted from inside. "Some of us are trying to SLEEP!"

"Sorry Polly!" Sprig called out.

Looking back to Anne, he saw her hugging her legs close to her chest.

"… Ok, I'll stop." Sprig said as he went and sat next to Anne, before beginning to hug her.

"… Thanks Sprig…" Anne said as she hugged back.

"You're really worried about her, aren't you?" Sprig asked.

"You have no idea…"

"We'll find her, I promise." Sprig said reassuringly.

"Right… I know we will…"

The two of them then looked up at the stars, wondering where Marcy could possibly be…

As it turns out, she was in Newtopia all along!

They had arrived at the city a few days later, and quickly found out that the gates were locked until a swarm of Barbariants were dealt with. That was when Marcy came out of no-where, equipped with a crossbow, and saved their skins.

After a very emotional reunion between the two girls, they managed to deal with the oversized ants, and were now within the city walls.

Shortly after entering the city, they met Lady Olivia, who had just finished welcoming the group to the city… though she did seem a little annoyed at their antics.

Marcy was now speaking with the newt, and Sprig got to thinking.

At first, he was really suspicious of the girl, thinking that she might end up like Sasha, and try to kill all of them. That all changed though when she saved his life by jumping into the Barbariant Queen's stomach. So, he began to trust the girl.

As such, he blurted out the first question that popped into his head.

"So Anne, she's the one you said you had a huge crush on… right?"

He really should of whispered that.

Anne's head quickly turned to him, full of embarrassment and absolute horror.

"SPRIG!"

Realizing his horrible mistake, Sprig shot his hands to his mouth, for some reason thinking that would help the current situation.

"… Wait whaaaaaa?" Polly asked.

Anne ignored this though, and slowly turned to look at Marcy, hoping that her conversation with Olivia kept her distracted enough to not hear that…

Only to find Marcy staring at her, eyes wide open, and her face a bright red.

'M-maybe she's like that for a different reason!' Anne thought… well, more like hoped.

"Uh… did he just say… what I think he just said?" She asked.

She heard him.

"Uh… hahaha! Good joke Sprig! That was uh… really funny!" Anne said, trying to save herself…

Keyword: Trying.

Marcy just kept staring at her, unsure what to say.

Unable to handle it anymore, Anne began to run.

"Anne!" Marcy shouted. "Sorry Olivia, I have to go!"

"Of course. We'll see you back at the castle." Olivia said, understanding of the situation.

Marcy then quickly began running after Anne, while the others stayed behind.

Sprig then turned sheepishly towards Hop Pop and Polly.

"Uh… hehehe… oops?"

Hop Pop just sighed while he put his hand to his face.

"Sprig… you really messed up…"

Before long, Anne stopped running, and hid off in a corner and curled up in a ball of embarrassment.

"Stupid Sprig… stupid ME! I shouldn't of trusted him! I shouldn't of told him any of that… UGH!" Anne scolded herself. "Now everything's ruined… I had that fight with Sasha, and now Marcy probably wants nothing to do with me…"

"Anne!"

Speaking of Marcy.

Looking over, she saw Marcy, looking all over the place, probably for her.

"Well… rather as well should get this out of the way…" Anne said to herself. "Over here Marcy…"

Looking towards her friend, Marcy began to run over.

"…Hey…"

"…"

"So uh… kinda a weird way to find out that you like girls!" Marcy said with a laugh while she sat down next to Anne.

"Oh yeah… I never came out to you and Sasha… did I?" Anne asked.

"I'm going to be honest, we had a hunch about it… but we decided to not say anything. We wanted to respect your privacy." Marcy explained.

"Thanks… I appreciate that…"

"… So, who else knows?" Marcy asked.

"You, Sprig, and I guess Hop Pop and Polly now…." Anne listed off.

"Oh, what about your parents?"

"I… was planning on telling them on my birthday…" Anne explained.

"Oh… you know that they will be accepting of you, right? They care about you so much." Marcy said with a smile, before sighing. "When I came out to my parents, they… weren't so thrilled."

Anne looked at Marcy in shock.

"Wait… what?"

"Anne… I'm bi." Marcy said with a smile.

Anne just stared at her, before smiling.

"Thanks for telling me." Anne said.

"I figured that since I knew about you liking girls, then you should know that I am bi." Marcy said. "Now, are you…?"

"Just girls."

"Gotcha." Marcy said with a laugh.

"Back to your parents though, they weren't happy when you came out to them?" Anne asked.

"Oh yeah, there was a bit of yelling… but… I managed to get through to them in the end." Marcy explained.

"Oh… yeah, that's good at least." Anne said with a smile.

"Yeah… cause now I can do this without anything to worry about." Marcy said before leaning in and kissing Anne on the cheek.

Anne's eyes went wide, as he face began rapidly heating up, to the point where Marcy could of sworn she saw steam coming out of the top of her head.

"I-I… wh-wha?"

Marcy didn't say anything, and just looked away shyly.

"…Buh…"

At that moment, Marcy, in a rare move from her, shyly grabbed Anne's hand.

"So… you willing to give this a shot?" Marcy asked.

Anne just smiled widely and nodded, before pulling Marcy in for a big hug.

"We really gotta thank Sprig when we get back, his big mouth really helped us out here, huh?" Marcy said with a smile.

Anne though, just frowned.

"Anne?"

"He broke his promise to me Marcy… I told him to not tell anyone… then he just blurts it out in the middle of town!" Anne said in anger.

"Yeah, but it really helped us out! Can't you forgive him?" Marcy asked.

Anne just crossed her arms and puffed out her cheeks.

"Come on, at least talk to him? I'm sure he's really sorry!"

Then, Marcy began to give Anne that face… the face that she makes whenever Anne is upset with her for not taking care of herself.

There is a very important rule of the universe. One where if it was broken, reality itself may begin to unravel.

Anne can NOT say no to that face.

"… Fine…"

Marcy smiled at this, and pulled Anne in for another hug. "Thanks Anna-Banana!"

"… Any time Mar-Mar."

On the way back to the rest of the group the two of them finally got caught up on everything. Mainly, the many times that Anne almost got eaten.

Eventually, the Fwagon came into view, and the Plantars were all sitting outside, waiting.

"Anne!" Polly shouted as she began to hop over.

"Hey Polly! Sorry if I worried you." Anne said as she picked Polly up and hugged her.

"Psh, I wasn't worried!"

"She was incredibly worried!" Hop Pop corrected. "We all were really…"

"Sorry guys." Anne said. "Really."

"Uh…" Sprig said as he approached cautiously. "So… I decided to fill them in… on what you told me."

"… Yeah, probably was a good idea." Anne said flatly.

Sprig took off his hat and began holding it to his chest. "Anne, I am so… SO sorry! I just… blurted out the first thing that came into my mind and… I shouldn't of… I should of at least waited until we were alone or something."

Anne didn't say anything, and just looked to the side.

"Anne…" Marcy said as she put her hand on her shoulder.

"Ok fine… Listen Sprig, I am going to be honest, what you did hurt, like, a lot." Anne said. "And honestly, it's going to be a long time before I trust you with something like that again. Like, a REALLY long time!"

Sprig then looked down dejectedly.

"… But…" Anne suddenly said. "I can't deny that what you did… really did cause some good."

"Huh…?"

Anne then took Marcy's hand into hers and held it up.

"…Ooooooooh!" Sprig said with a smile.

"Wait, so you two are together?" Hop Pop asked.

"Yeah, looks like it!" Anne said.

"Wait, so she's a LesbiMarcy?" Polly asked.

"… Wait huh?" Marcy asked.

"I mean, since Anne is a LesbiAnne, that would make Marcy a LesbiMarcy!" Polly said, acting as if she understood absolutely everything.

Anne and Marcy just looked at each other before laughing a bit.

"Ok, that's not how it works." Anne said. "I'll explain later, but just know that Marcy is something called 'bi' ok?"

"Bi...?" Sprig asked.

"She'll explain later." Marcy quickly dismissed. "You guys should all get some rest though, I am gonna be showing you all around town tomorrow!"

"Yeah, that may be for the best." Hop Pop said. "Come on kids, let's let Anne and Marcy have some more alone time."

With a groan from the two younger members of the group, the three frogs went back to the Fwagon.

Anne and Marcy then sat down by a nearby fountain, to talk some more.

"So… you don't know how to get us home either?" Anne asked.

"Nnnnnope…" Marcy said sat down.

"Great…"

"We'll figure it out, I promise." Marcy said with a smile. "First things first though, we need to find Sasha."

Anne just inhaled sharply.

"Uh… About that… We… might of gotten into a fight?" Anne said, unsure how Marcy would react.

"Oh no… how bad?"

"There were some swords… a dagger… explosions… maybe a tower completely falling apart…" Anne said, grimacing at the memory. "And… Sasha may or may not of fallen off said tower, got rescued by a toad trying to kill Hop Pop… and now I have no idea where she is…"

Marcy just stared at her in shock.

"That… sounds bad…"

Anne just groaned and pulled her legs into her chest.

"Hey hey, look at me." Marcy said reassuringly, causing Anne to do just that. "We'll find Sasha and fix this. Then, we'll go home, ok?"

Anne smiled at her. "Right…"

"Great! Now come on Anne, STAND UP!" Marcy said as she rose to her feet.

Anne complied.

The two of them did a chant to psych themselves up, while doing a 'power pose' as Marcy called it.

After a quick laugh, they sat back down.

"So… what do you think Sasha is going to think about us?" Anne asked.

"I dunno… I think surprised will be the first thing." Marcy said. "I mean, she had a hunch about you liking girls, but I'd like to think she didn't catch onto me yet."

"Yeah, good point." Anne said. "Do you think… she'll be upset?"

"Why would she be? I mean, sure, you two are having a bit of a rough patch right now, but she's still our friend. She'll be supportive, I just know it!"

"…Right, of course."

Anne and Marcy then grabbed each others hands, and enjoyed each other's company for the rest of the day.

End of Chapter 1

WHOO! Big start!

I got into this show recently, and really wanted to write a story for it. It is all about Marcanne, because well… it's cute… I do acknowledge the other ships are good as well, but this is my personal favorite pairing of the three girls. In case the title and summary don't give it away, things in this universe will become very different very fast. Next chapter in particular will be covering the rest of the visit to Newtopia, as well as Anne and the Plantar's departure.

Now then, there is something I want to address in this story. The LGBTQ+ representation. I am not a member of the LGBTQ+ community myself. As such, I did some research about how everything works and looked into what people would or wouldn't be offended by. I would like to think I did a good job of it, but nothing is absolutely certain. As such, I have a request. If you yourself are LGBTQ+, and I include ANYTHING that upsets you in this story in regards to that, PLEASE let me know in a review or PM. I never want to offend anyone, and if I do by mistake, I would love to know so that I could fix it right away! I will be including this request at the end of each chapter, just in case!

So, let's talk about this story. It is… kinda a rewrite I guess? We won't be covering ALL the episodes. Heck, Season 3 is still going on at the time this is being written. This will be going only up to Season 3 episode 1. There is a very important reason for this though, and I'll go over that when we get there.

Also, if you think what Sprig did was a REAL jerk move: He's ten. I have worked with ten year olds before as a camp counselor, and they REALLY don't know when to keep their mouths shut. Anne is not going to be super trusting of him for a bit. However, that is not really gonna be covered in this story too much. The focus is, of course, going to be on Anne and Marcy.

Anyways, next time, we'll find out just HOW MUCH is going to be different now that Anne and Marcy are together!

This story will be updated on Wednesdays, this will be the only Sunday post. This includes this upcoming Wednesday, so there's that!
