Jaehaerys Targaryen
The ship stopped at Dragon's Bay. Many people had gathered to see the arrival of the royal family. Jae was happy to see his family there, he saw the king's guards waiting for them. His eyes moved to his family. A smile appeared on Jae's face. His father, grandmother and mother Elia would always greet them at the bay, and go together to the Red Keep.
Egg was standing on the front looking as much as royalty as he could. Wearing a black outfit with a red three headed dragon on the chest. In his hip was his favorite sword. 'Dragon's Blade'.
Father had given him that sword when he reached 14 name days. It was a long sword, the pommel was decorated with three small rubies. The scabbard was completely dark with the symbol of House Targaryen at the top and House Martell at the bottom.
Dany was wearing a silver dress with a silver necklace on her neck. She was standing close to Rhaenys and whispering something to her ear. Uncle Viserys had a serious face and his chest high, but Jae could a small smile on his face.
The ship stopped in front of the bay, many people were cheering for them. All of them calling Jaehaerys and Aegon different names, but mostly was Jae's titles that were thrown around.
"The Father of Dragons"
The Young Dragon"
People called them, Jae didn't cared that much for the titles.
Aegon walked forward followed by Ser Lewyn Martell. Father walked closer smiling and hugged his son. He said something to Aegon's ear but Jae couldn't hear what. Jae focused to see if anyone from the people gathered here was trying anything funny towards them. He eyed them and couldn't see any of them acting strangely. He knew more than 20 golden cloaks were here to protect the royal family but he still wanted to make sure that everything was alright. His right hand was resting on the pommel of Dark Sister.
Ser Arthur and Rhaella noticed his behavior and frowned. In their minds Jaehaerys still didn't trust anyone who wasn't part of his family. And was always too cautious. They were both afraid that he would get too paranoid.
Jae felt his father looking at him with a smile. He walked towards him and gave him a hug. Jae returned the hug.
"How are you doing Jae?" His father whispered to him.
"I'm doing alright father" he replied and his father pulled away. Soon they reached their carriage. But Jae wanted to use a horse. He never liked to be inside the carriage. He slowly walked to a horse that Ser Barristan had prepared for him. It wasn't the first time, no matter how many times his grandmother told him to not ride on horseback each time they returned to The Red Keep.
Jae was on horseback and soon started making their way towards The Red Keep. Ser Arthur was close to him. Ser Jaime and Ser Barristan standing on the front. Ser Lewyn standing on the left side of the carriage. Ser Arthur and Jae standing at the left side. His right hand on the pommel of Dawn and his left holding the reins. They were surrounded by what looked like a wall of gold cloaks.
Jae felt many eyes on him, he glanced at people. Many looking at him with awe and respect. And some with fear. But he saw a few hiding amongst the crowd. They were wearing black clothes that covered from neck to toes. Jae knew they were people from The Seven but wondered what was up with their unpleasant stair towards him. Jae knew enough that they didn't like his dragon. As long as Royal Family had no dragons, The Seven had power but now their power was slowly slipping away. He knew they wanted power and their greed was bottomless. Jae had swore to fight whoever threatened his family or his dragons.
Jae turned his head towards the Red Keep. His head moved to where The Dragon Pit was. He remembered many people demanding from his father to chain their dragons. In the first year was chaos to say the least. And people still hadn't accepted the dragons. Many still saw them as monsters, after all 'The Dance of Dragons' was the largest war of Westeros. Bloodfyre had suggested to burn all of them but Jae had denied.
They soon reached The Red Keep. Jae dismounted his horse and gave him to a steward. His family came out from their carriage. Egg had joked many times that he looked like a king's guard when they returned to King's Landing and him riding on horseback. He saw Lord Commander of The City Watch, Lord Hand and Varys expecting them in front of the door that lead inside the Red Keep.
Jae glanced and saw Lord Hand walking forward along with the spider, and lord commander of City Watch. His chest high and a smirk not leaving his face.
"Your grace, is a pleasure to see you again" he greeted his brother. Why is he acting like a dog waiting for his bone Jae thought annoyed.
Aegon forced a smile on his face when he greeted Lord Hand back, he had never liked him but since he talked bad for his brother. He hated him, he had told father to execute him on the spot but his father just warned him.
Lord Hand moved to greet Dany. "Stop with this foolishness. I'm tired and I want to go inside" Grandmother said bored. And walked inside leaving Lord Hand behind.
Jae fought the urge to laugh but just followed her behind, and so did the others. Entering inside Rhaenys laughed out loud and Dany giggle.
Rhaegar smiled to see his children again. "Today all of us are eating together" he said with a smile on his face. Everyone nodded in agreement. Jae knew his father would talk about their trip to Dorne, and possibly for any marriage. That thought made Jae think about telling his father about him and Rhaenys and Dany. He didn't knew if his father knew about them, mother Elia knew and so did his grandmother. Jae knew his father was the one who stopped the marriage between brother and sisters, and since he had returned. Not once to his knowledge had talked about returning brother-sister marriage.
Will my father hate me? No, he won't think like that Jae thought to himself. Suddenly he felt a hand on his arm. He turned his head to his left and saw his grandmother smiling at him. But Jae had seen that smile before. It was that kind of smile which meant 'I know all your secrets' .
"Is good to have you back my little dragon" she whispered with a little smirk.
"Is good to see you grandmother" Jae replied and she lead him to her room. He felt like a deer and his grandmother was a dragon looking at him.
Jae walked inside and suddenly felt like a little kid, who was caught stealing sweets and waiting to be shouted at. His grandmother pointed to a chair with her hand. Jae nodded and sit in the chair. He sighed and waited.
"I saw my daughter and Rhaeny's face. They looked happier than usual. Their faces were smiling" she said but more like a statement. Jae felt himself blush in embarrassment. And keeping his head low.
He barely found his voice. "Do you approve?" He asked with a little voice. His grandmother smiled and kissed his cheek. She put a hand on his chin and made him look at him.
"Of course my little dragon. Why wouldn't I. They love you and you love them. I wouldn't approve only if they didn't wanted or you didn't wanted to" she replied with a warm tone and smile.
Jae smiled back snd was happy to hear that. She and mother Elia had encouraged him to be with Rhaenys and Dany but he still had a little doubt that they might not like it.
"What about father?" Jae asked slightly anxious. She put her hands on his. "Your father will approve. Don't worry Jaehaerys" she replied and kissed his forehead. Jae smiled at her.
"Thank you grandmother" he thanked her and get up from the chair. He started walking towards the door.
"Before you go. When you reach Dorne be careful from the ladies there. They would like nothing more than to put their claws on you" she warned him with a serious tone. Jae knew that. Both Rhaeny and Aegon had told him how people were in Dorne when it came to sex. Jae just needed to remember how Ari or Tyene would act towards him whenever they were here or sometimes in DragonStone.
"I know grandmother" He replied and left the room.
Rhaegar Targaryen
He was reading a letter from Jon Arryn. The old lord had send a letter stating that he wants Lady Sansa Stark to foster in Vale. Rhaegar wasn't sure what to think of that, he was sure the old lord wanted a betrothal between Lady Sansa and his son Robin Arryn but unfortunately for him. Rhaegar had already forbidden for House Stark to marry outside the North. He was slightly confused, why would he wanted for her to foster in Vale. Or maybe he just wants that because of his old friendship with her father.
Lady Sansa will marry a northern lord. Perhaps Domeric Bolton would be a good lord for her. House Stark has lost honor because of Ned Stark, my mother told me that House Bolton might try to revolt against House Stark Rhaegar thought. Maybe marrying Lady Sansa to Lord Domeric might make the North happy and bring it together.
His mind then went to his sons. Aegon would marry Lady Margaery Tyrell, he wondered if that was a good move. Having The Reach in our side is smart, but will Aegon's children with her be dragon riders? He asked himself.
Rhaegar didn't wanted to think what would happen if all of Aegon's children are not dragon riders. That might cost another Dance of Dragons. Both Elia and his mother had warned him for it. He didn't need to be warned. He moved his head through his hair in frustration.
In same time he knew about Jae's feelings towards Dany and Rhaenys and he would never be against it. My son has suffered for 11 years, he deserves happiness more than anyone else, Rhaegar thought.
Rhaegar escaped his thoughts when he heard the door opening and looked up to see his brother walking inside.
"What do you want from me brother?" Viserys asked respectfully.
"Sit here" he said and put the letters away and focused on his brother.
"Viserys, what is that you want to do?" Rhaegar asked bluntly wanting to know if he had any other ideas other than what he had in mind for him.
Viserys looked confused and raised an eyebrow. "I think I will just marry to a lady from House Velayron or maybe lady Tenjya of house Darry" he replied still slightly confused.
Rhaegar took a deep breath. All of them were good choices for brides. At first he thought to marry him to princess Arianne but to his surprise Viserys had refused two years ago. He said that he didn't liked her and a hot place like Dorne wasn't where he wanted to spend his days.
"Well that's a good idea brother but I have proposition for you" he suggested and Viserys looked interested. He moved his chair a little closer.
"I won't be a king for that much longer. Once Aegon reaches 20 name days. I think would be the perfect time for me to retire and leave the iron throne to him" he said. Viserys was confused why his brother and king was telling him this.
"Once Aegon becomes king. I would wanted you to become the hand of the king" he added and Visery's eyes widened and his head moved a bit away.
Quickly coming out from his shock. "Brother I appreciate it but don't you think Jaehaerys would have been a better choice" he suggested making a point.
"Jaehaerys will become Prince of Summerhall and rule. He will be a good ruler, but you. I want you here" he responded with a firm tone and with a finger hitting the desk, leaving no place for arguments. Viserys took a deep breath and looked to be thinking.
Rhaegar knew his brother was smart, the only bad habit he had was brothels.
"I will need to think, but I genuinely think that our mother would have been a much better choice" Viserys replied half-joking with a little chuckle at the end. Rhaegar laughed too.
"You're right, but we both know that she would refuse" he replied with a smile. Viserys then frowned and looked again at Rhaegar.
"What about Jon Connington. Not that I will miss him" he asked. Rhaegar sighed sadly.
"Jon has changed, he isn't like how he was. And his way of acting towards Jae angers me. Perhaps I should have listened to Aegon and Rhaenys when they told me to execute him. I know Aegon The First would have done it" he replied and thinking about his old friend.
Viserys didn't cared, he never liked Jon Connigton, in his mind he was always too cocky and looked at his brother in an annoying way. And the way how he talked about his nephew angered him.
"I understand brother" he replied and Rhaegar filled a glass with wine for him and himself.
"To the new lord hand" Rhaegar said and raised his glass. Viserys smiled and raised his glass.
"To King Aegon Targaryen The Sixth" he cheered.
