Chapter 2
Looking over to the source of the voice, the group saw the rest of the Blights approaching.
"Mom? Dad? What are you doing here?" Amity asked.
"Well, after last night, it didn't feel quite right just leaving things as is, especially since we agreed to support you two in any way we could." Odalia explained. "Sooooo, your father got an idea, and we are here to see if it will work!"
"And that idea is?" Luz asked.
"Well, I remembered something that you told me when I was helping you make the new portal key a couple of days ago." Alador explained.
"So your motivation is to see your mother again?" Alador asked.
"Yeah, she probably thinks I'm missing right now, especially since I lost contact with her when I destroyed the portal…" Luz explained.
"How DID you get in contact with her before? Did you send letters through the door?" Amity asked.
Luz then pulled out her phone.
"This is a lot like the scrolls and crystal balls that you guys have." Luz explained. "But it needs a signal to really work, and that signal was coming through the human realm! So, since the connection to the human realm was destroyed…"
"So was the signal." Alador finished.
"Yeah, that's right."
"Human technology is… fascinating, to say the least." Alador said.
"It is my belief that I may be able to, while only temporarily, create a small link to the human world that might allow you to get this 'signal' that your phone needs." Alador explained.
"And if we do that, she can talk to her mother again!" Willow finished.
"That is my theory, yes."
"Nice thinking Ali." Eda said in a teasing tone.
"Oh gosh, don't tell me she still sings that song…" Odalia said.
"You know it sister!" Eda said before taking a deep breath.
"Sing it once and we leave, got that Edalyn?" Odalia said sternly.
Eda just let the deep breath go.
"Party pooper…"
"Well, what are we waiting for! Let's get this done!" Luz shouted, really excited at the idea of talking to her mom again.
"Of course. Edric, Emira! Bring it over here please!" Odalia called over.
The twins then brought out what appeared to be a drill.
"This device is designed to take in magical energy in the air, and use it to create a tiny hole in the dimensional barrier." Alador explained. "I must put emphasis on the word tiny though. We have no idea what kind of effect this could have, so we can't risk it being too big."
"Uh… will this be safe?" Luz asked.
"By my calculations, if we only go, say, the size of your hand, there should be no risk." Alador explained. "Any bigger though, and it might cause some damage."
"Well, that's reassuring!" Luz said.
"Wait a minute, that's all well and good and all, but I thought Titan's Blood was the only thing that can pierce dimensions?" Eda asked.
"Yes, well, something that powerful should of left some magical energy in the air after the portal closed yesterday." Alador explained. "We'll be using that."
"… Sounds good to me! Fire that bad boy up!" Eda said.
Alador did just that, as a blue magical energy seemed to be sucked into the drill, before it began spinning.
Then, it seemed to create some sort of hole in the air.
"Whoa…" Luz said. "Did it work?"
She then took a peek into the hole and saw…
"Hey! This is that old shack that the door led to I think!" Luz said excitingly. "IT WORKED! MR. BLIGHT YOU'RE A GENIUS!"
"Well, I do try." Alador said, looking a little bashful.
"How long will it stay open you think?" Eda asked.
"My guess is about twenty four hours… give or take a couple of minutes."
"Then there's no time to lose!" Luz said as she pulled out her phone.
Sure enough, she had signal again.
"Ok… so, let's do this slowly, I don't want to overwhelm her by introducing everyone at once." Luz said.
"Wait, how are we going to do… well… us?" Amity asked. "I mean, we can't just passively say it!"
"Actually… I think I want to wait until I go home to tell her that we're dating." Luz said. "I just… I want that to be special, and telling her over the phone really wouldn't work for that…"
Amity smiled. "Luz, anything I do with you is special…"
Luz turned a bit red. "O-oh! Ok!"
"We can tell her whenever you want, ok?" Amity said with a smile.
"Ok… we'll wait and do it when it's just us two, ok?" Luz asked.
"Of course!"
"Ok… Here we go…" Luz said as she pushed the video call option.
After a couple of rings, they saw…
"Uh… is that another Luz?" Willow asked.
"Vee?"
"Luz?!" Vee asked as she returned to her normal form. "Is that you?!"
"Yeah! It's me! We managed to get a connection through!" Luz explained. "How are you doing? How's Mom?"
"I'm doing great! I don't have to stay transformed all the time anymore, just when I leave the house and there are people over!" Vee explained. "And your Mom, well, she's still afraid for you, but she's doing a bit better."
"That's good… is she around? I was hoping to talk to her." Luz asked.
"Yeah! Let me get her!" Vee said before turning back into Luz and walking away.
Before long, they saw Camilla sprint into the room and pick up the phone frantically.
"Mija?! Is that you?!"
"Sí Mamá!" Luz said.
"Oh Luz! You're ok! I am so happy to see you!" Camilla said.
"It's… so good to see you too!" Luz said, tearing up again, before turning the camera towards Alador. "See this guy? He's the one that got it all figured out so we could talk!"
"Oh! Thank you so much Mr… uh…"
"Blight, Alador Blight." Alador said. "I was just keeping a promise, that's all."
"Regardless, you have no idea how much this means to me… thank you." Camila said.
"He's not the only one! There are so many people here I want you to meet!" Luz said. "First, there's…"
"Hey everyone! What's going on over here?!" Hooty said as he slithered over.
"Oh! Uh…" Camilla said, not sure what to think of the incredibly strange owl before her.
"This is Hooty! Long story short, he's actually the house that I've been living in!" Luz explained. "Hooty, this my mom!"
"Oh hello!" Hooty said before getting a good look at Camilla. "Wait a minute… YOU'RE STUCK IN THAT LITTLE BOX?!"
"Uh oh…" Eda said.
"Don't worry! I'll get you out!" Hooty said before charging straight at the phone.
"Hooty no!"
And on Camilla's end, the call just ended.

So, last time I mentioned a sequel, this will be the last time I mention this before the stories end, but I also wanted to mention that it is something I never actually did before, as well as something I always wanted to do, but never had a good way to do it. It is something that is ONLY possible because it is a story for this series! Again though, more details at a later date.
Didn't mention it last chapter, but the High-Atus comet… it's… it's the mid season Hiatus… it's a pun… ok that is all.
The next couple of chapters are going to be everyone meeting Luz's Mom, so look forward to that!
