AN: This is a long chapter sorry. The stories going to start moving now haha. A time jump after this to around a week which will be the 3 month mark of their abduction. I'm still trying to decide how to do this. It might be a lot of chatter so I might set it out like a script kinda put the initial of who is talking or something. I might do a flashback too in it. Depends I'm going to give it a write and see what comes out.

When JJ woke she saw she was still in the chair where she blacked out. Emily was as always, concerned. JJ could tell by the frown lines on her face. Abi was sitting back down in her chair. She looked around. "What happened?" She used one hand to rub her eyes.
"You had a seizure again." Emily said grabbing JJ's free hand now the convulsions had stopped.
The blonde took a moment to adjust to what had just happened. She looked to the doctor who typed a couple of things into her computer. "Did you find anything?"
Abi nodded looking from the computer to JJ's notes. "Yeah, we've learned quite a lot. Can you sit up so that I can take all these off you head?"
JJ sat up. She was tired and felt weak but she still had a couple more exams to go. "Yeah go for it."
Abi stood up, removing the wires from JJ's head. "So we got the results of your MRI back to see your shunt. I want to keep it in there. Then when it gets to a year, depending on if there's any change I either want to remove it or replace it. It's still draining fluid, so I don't want to tempt fate and take it out right now only for it to cause more harm than good."
Once the wires were off JJ nodded and scratched her head. The glue hadn't been comfortable and tickled her head. "So will I still be able to work?"
"Yeah, people live perfectly normal lives, we just have to get your seizures under control before you can go back in the field. As long as you get on with your therapy, I don't see why you can't go back to work in a couple of weeks." Abi smiled when she saw her patient smile. She loved when she could give good news to those who had been through something as bad as the woman in front of her had. She considered JJ quite lucky not many people got up from the type of brain injury she had. If they did it was rare, they got up as soon as she did. She hadn't been there when JJ came in the ER but she had read the notes and could only imagine how bad of a state she was in when she first walked through those doors.
Flashback
"33-year-old Jennifer Jareau, significant brain trauma, was convulsing when we arrived, still hasn't gained consciousness. GCS 4. Possible broken ribs, stab wounds on her right thigh, burn to the chest which looks infected. Her wife said she was raped. Heart rate is 197, BP is 76/40, O2 stats are 85 without oxygen." As the paramedic finished, they were stopped for a moment. Emily had needed a moment to see her wife before they parted ways.
Dr Richards pulled JJ into a trauma room where he began treatment. He looked at the petite woman and wondered how someone had managed to survive something like this. A GCS of 3 usually meant that person was in a vegetative state. This woman was 4 but he still had chance to change that. He needed to get this woman in surgery and get her there now.
Before he could take her through to surgery, a woman with blonde hair and bright clothes. "Oh my god JJ. How is she?" She asked walking towards the bed towards her best friend.
"Ma'am you need to leave we have to get her to surgery." Dr Richards told the strange woman. He watched as the woman grabbed hold of JJ's hand and spoke to here.
"JJ I don't know if you can hear me…" Garcia started her voice wavering in sadness and fear. "…You need to pull through okay. You need to be okay. We need you. I know it might be tough right now but you have to do this. The nice doctor man is taking you to surgery to fix you. So just know, me the kids, the team, everyone. We will be waiting." She leant down and place a gentle kiss on the head of her best friend. She hoped her friend could hear her and would fight to come back to them.
"Okay, Ma'am we need to go now. If you go to the waiting room I'll come get you when she's out." He lead the friend of his patient out and pushed the gurney out the room towards the elevator. His patient began to seize violently. He needed to rush he to surgery now.
End Flashback
"So Jennifer it's your choice if you want to carry on with you appointments. I can get them to rearrange?" Abi mentioned to her patient who looked just about ready to fall asleep. Seizures really took it out of her.
JJ looked to Emily. "We can go home if you like, but if you wanna stay we can do?"
The blonde nodded, "I wanna get it over with. I don't want to come back this week." JJ sat herself up further and shook her head to wake herself up.
Abi nodded. "Follow me." The doctor lead JJ and Emily through to another room where the rest of the exams and tests were carried out. She had a follow up with the gynaecologist, and a physical checking all her injuries were healing well. She had been cleared mostly. They still wanted her to come back in a months' time to check on the slight soreness in her ribs and to assess whether her brand was healed enough to be removed. They knew she was adamant to get the mark of Doyle from her body.
It had taken a couple of hours, but they had left by one just in time for lunch. The two enjoyed some time out the house to talk through some issues. They dropped Hotch a text asking about the BAU psychologist, which they had an appointment for the following week, exactly on the 3 month mark of their abduction and torture. But they were ready together to start their healing.

Later on Emily and Michael had cooked dinner while JJ sat with the others completing homework and entertaining the youngest Jareau-Prentiss. Alice had joined them for dinner, she knew Emily and JJ needed to talk with the kids. She was just there to help things go smoothly and be there in case Emily or JJ had to excuse themselves. All the children trusted their live-in babysitter. Sometime opening up to her before they went to either mother.
"Guys, me and Momma need to talk to you about something." Emily said putting down her knife and fork for a moment. The kids quietened from their chatter as they ate wanting to listen to what their parents had to say. Emily continued. "So, I was talking to Michael and I forgot to say sorry to you all. I was a bad mommy and didn't talk to you or Momma for a long time. I just want you all to know I love you all very very much."
"We love you too Mommy." Henry pipped up with a mouth full of food. The younger children laughed at some of Henrys food falling from his mouth.
"Henry, don't speak with your mouth full." JJ warned. Alice grabbed a napkin cleaning up after the child sat next to her
"Do you have any questions about Mommy or me you want to ask. We know some scary things have happened and we want you to not be scared." JJ had tried to keep her language as simple as possible. She hated that this conversation had to happen, and her babies were exposed to something like this. But unfortunately, due to the previous weeks they needed to be spoken too properly.
Luke raised his hand, something he said he had learnt on his first day at school. JJ nodded giving the small boy permission to speak. "Mommy why were you gone for a long time? You didn't come to our birthday at hospital with Momma."
Straight to the point and directed at Emily she felt a little bit of pressure. How could she explain to her children that she wallowed in self pity and left her kids and her wife for a bottle of whiskey. She would explain it the same way she explained it to Michael. "Mommy had a poorly head and I went away to get better. It took a long time because I didn't have you to make me better. That's my fault."
Samantha spoke up. "Momma why don't you go away to get better?" It was almost as though she had this really great idea. If her Mommy could do it why couldn't her Momma.
"My poorly is different to Mommy's poorly. I have to have special tablets to make mine better. Mommy needed to talk to someone to get better." The blonde explained to one of her many mini counterparts.
"Momma. Is it scary?" Lizzie said shyly. She and Henry were usually the shyer ones of the lot. They would have their moments of loudness and silliness, but most the time they were reserved.
Her momma turned to face her. "Is what scary baby girl?"
"When you have a seizure and you shake. Is it scary? Does it hurt? It looks it. Then you sleep for a long time after."
"No baby. It doesn't hurt." She lied slightly. The headaches and muscle soreness were something she experienced each time. But they didn't need to know that. "It was scary in the beginning, but now it's not as scary, because I know that you guys are all okay and Mommy is okay, and you will all look after me."
The table seemed to go silent, so Emily stood up. She grabbed a big bag filled with stuff. "Okay, so because we've all finished dinner, I have a surprise for you all, to say sorry." She tipped the bag and out fell a new toy for each child. Something they had all wanted but hadn't gotten yet.
A round of cheers filled the room and all six got up looking through the things their mom had gotten for them. Bedtime was half an hour later than usual. But it seemed to win the kids over and hopefully it would make such a grown-up conversation a little more friendly.

Later on, that evening JJ was sat in bed. Emily walked in the room with a smile gracing her lips and a small box in her hands. She stuck it in the pocket of her robe hiding it from the blonde who was oblivious, she had taken out her contact lenses as they needed replacing for the month in the morning and her glasses were on her face while she read something on her phone. One thing that hadn't change about JJ was how embarrassed she got about her nerd looking glasses. Emily was the only person to have seen her in them. The older woman found them sexy. "You should wear them more often."
"Fuck Emily. You scared me." JJ said hand over her heart feeling it pounding out of her chest.
The brunette laughed and sat down near JJ's legs smiling. "Sorry. But you look sexy wearing your glasses. I had to take it all in for a moment."
"Don't…" JJ wined "…You know I don't like that. It's been 10 years and your still not going to get me to bed with these on." She took the glasses off and moved them into the draws at her bed side.
An eyebrow raised on Emily's face. "You know I'm going to keep trying. A girl never gives up till she gets what she wants." She pulled the box out of her pocket handing it to the embarrassed woman in front of her. "I hope you didn't think I forgot you."
JJ climbed onto her knees taking the box. "What is it?"
"Just open it silly." Emily rolled her eyes and laughed. She watch JJ closely as she opened the box. "Now I know it's not exactly the same as your last one but it's very similar I just added a couple of things to it."
JJ was in shock. She pulled out a small silver chain bracelet with a butterfly in the middle, very similar to one she had a couple of months ago before it went missing, now it had very subtle birth stones on it. Three on either side. "It's beautiful." She leant forward giving a thank you kiss and held her wrist out for Emily to put it on.
The bracelet was place on JJ's small wrists; it was a perfect fit. That's what you get when you've been with someone for 10 years. You always know things that you might find difficult in the beginning like the size of a finger or wrist. They shared another kiss. Which started to become heated. They broke it off before it went too far.
"Sorry." JJ mumbled suddenly embarrassed.
"No need to be sorry Jayje. I'm not ready to take it any further yet." She got up and climbed in her side of the bed. Something came to her head she hand been meaning to ask before. But didn't with all the children around. She was curious. "Jayje, what's it like having a seizure. You said to the kids before it's not painful or scary. I know from my side it looks scary." Emily lay down and put an arm out so JJ could lay on I and the two could be close.
The younger woman lay down facing Emily, her fingers playing with the hem of the night gown Emily wore. "You really want to know?" She looked into her wife's eyes with slightly raised eyebrows. A nod was all Emily gave signalling she wanted to know. "Well, before my eyesight goes really fuzzy and its like my brain feels dizzy. The doctor said it's called an aura, the signalling of the beginning of a seizure. It is kind of scary. It's so vivid. Sometimes all I know is when I wake up afterward and I ache and have a headache, but were you told about the one on the stairs? When Rossi caught me?" She felt Emily nod again, so she continued. "Well that one was scary, because I just dropped and I could feel myself falling, I couldn't see clearly but I could see the floor getting closer. When I spoke to Abi before you came in, she said it's normal to have anxiety surrounding them. Especially while they are so uncontrollable. Because well you know I like control and, in a seizure, everything is gone from your control. You never know how long its going to last, if your gonna loose control of your bowels, if your gonna get back up again, you don't know if you've pulled a muscle while your convulsing. Stuff like that. It's a very weird thing." She concluded. She stopped fiddling with the hem of Emily's gown placing her hand flat against her chest feeling her heart thump onto her palm.
"I'm sorry you have to go through that baby. Know that I'll always be there, and I'll always stop you from falling." She placed a kiss on top of JJ's head. The two curled into each other. Falling into a second night of sleep without nightmares.
