Disclaimer: I don't own the Winchester boy if did well I'll leave that fill in blank.
A/N: this came to me while I was making a Dean play list. It was inspired by Led Zeppelin's Rambling On say a thanx to Robert Plants vocals for the following.
Rambling Man
Sam grow up in the 80's listening to music made in the 60's and 70's. For as long as Sam could remember Dean had control of the radio. As a kid he seem fascinated with the guitar rifts from the 70's. John Winchester had always appreciated this music. Rebel music. That what he called it every time Dean slipped in a tape he would give Dean that half smile that went to his eyes, shack his head and mumble rebel music. It fit Dean. So Sam didn't mind listening to it.
Dean never really got in to punk music. This didn't surprise Sam till he was older and had to time to think on it. Punk seem like it would be Dean Anthem. Dean did enjoy hair bands mostly for the rocked out sound of their stadium anthems with the crazy rife lines. Dean found a common soul in speed metal. But for Sam it was the swelling rifes, the bold bass and the electrifying hum of the 70 bands that would always define Dean in his mind.
It wasn't till Sam was in college that he realized how much music had been part of his up bring. Hours, days, weeks spent locked in the backseat of the car with nothing but dad, Dean and the tape deck.
Sam sat in his dorm the opening line to Led Zeppelin's Rambling On floated into his from the hall. A wave of yearning smacked him head on. The image of Dean behind the wheel of his Impala smile on his face, sun behind him, blinding. For the first time in two years Sam truly missed his brother. Missed his side smirks, dirty mouth, filthy brain and bracing beautiful heart. Sam went out and bought three Led Zeppelin's CD's They cost him half his food money for the week. He slipped one into his CD player curled up in bed and feel into a sleep of calm.
Sam sits across from Dean and watching him bang out a beat on the steering wheel. It was well after 3 in the morning. Dean is running on coffee and Matallica. He wonders what ever happen to the Led Zeppelin tapes.
Ramble On,
And
now's the time, the time is now
To sing my song.
I'm goin'
'round the world,
I got to find my girl, on my way.
I've been
this way ten years to the day, Ramble On,
Gotta find the queen of
all my dreams.
Got no time to for spreadin' roots,
The
time has come to be gone.
And tho' our health we drank a thousand
times,
It's time to Ramble On.
Led Zeppelin Ramble On
