AN: Just going with the flow. I've got a couple of future chapters written and I'm still wondering if it's right.

"Hey baby." Emily said as she saw JJ walking towards the elevator. They reached forward for a quick peck before each having their own space. "How was it?"
"It went okay. I got Susan again thankfully." She sighed in relief, the first session was truly over. "How did yours go?"
Emily rolled her eyes. "It went good. I got another newbie."
JJ laughed and swung her head round to face her wife. "That's your own fault. Stubborn Ass." JJ commented jokingly. Her wife had always been one to be awkward with these kinds of things. She had been through a lot of the Bureau psychologists.
"Meanie." The brunette pouted and crossed her arms. "Honestly though Jay, this woman had me talking like I was running water. She's good." The blonde smirked. Someone was managing to get Emily to talk. That was an achievement. This person was going to have to stick around and teach her some tricks. JJ reached forward to press the button for the elevator and winced as she pulled at her now newly sore ribs. She tried to hide it pulling back quickly. She knew Emily would feel guilty if she saw that she had in fact caused more pain when she was just healing. The young agent looked to her wife, she had and eyebrow raised. She had caught her.
"That's from last night, I did that didn't I?" The doors opened and she stood still as JJ got in.
"No, it's fine." JJ lied. "They still hurt if I pull at them."
Emily got in and stood next to JJ. She placed a hand delicately over the place she had caught her the early hours of that morning. "I'm sorry you know." She wasn't stupid she knew her wife was lying. She had said a couple of days earlier she hadn't felt much pain from her ribs in a couple of days. "I didn't mean to hurt you."
JJ nodded. "I know. It wasn't your fault." She sighed. There was a ping and the door opened. They both got off wordlessly walking into the BAU. They saw most the team in the round table room. So, they decided to sneak round and come in that way. The conversation forgotten about and smiles plastered on their faces as they surprised their friends, who they hadn't seen since Emily had come back from her motel.
Emily poked her head round the door then JJ. Garcia was the first one to spot her friends. "Oh my god." She squealed. "It's so nice to see you! Not gonna lie, I'm going a bit crazy with all this testosterone." She gave both a gentle hug not sure how healed they were. She moved allowing the others to reach her.
"We aren't interrupting anything important, are we?" JJ asked. She had her arm round Spencer's waist it was nice to see her partner. He hadn't come round much to the house after the abduction. He had been busy with Maeve and the newish baby.
Hotch shook his head closing his file. "No just a bunch of team consults. It can go on hold for half an hour. Just don't tell Strauss he winked. He was relieved to see his two agents. It had been a while since he last had contacted. He wanted to give them time to themselves. They knew where he was if they needed anything
"So how's the baby genius?" JJ asked looking up to her tall partner.
Reid pulled his phone out showing JJ a picture of his son. "Joseph is so clever." He gushed. "He's six months and sitting up, he's just about ready to start crawling too, all within the past 2 weeks too. I'm so proud of him."
"I would be too." She smiled. JJ never thought she would see the day when Spencer Reid became a dad. He had been so reserved. Never dating but then he met Maeve and she knew he was smitten from the moment he saw her. He had become a different person. He was a grown up. Then when they had Katherine, he changed again. He became more grown up and a lot more protective over all his team.
After a couple of seconds of JJ and Reid gushing over the newest BAU baby Emily held out her paper to Hotch. Letting him read it. JJ caught the exchange she knew what that was. "You got cleared?" She asked with a hint of anger. Surely she was more ready than Emily to go back to work. She hadn't left her family for weeks, she had stuck around and got on with lie like you have to.
"Yeah." The brunette agent shrugged. "It's only part time, but it's a start. Did you not?"
"No." JJ sulked.
Morgan came up behind her placing his hands on her shoulders. "Hey blondie look at it this way. At least you get a lie in while miss overachiever here has to get up and come here." He said hearing the moody side of JJ come out.
"Are you forgetting how many kids we have? They are up by 7. Not much of a lie in there." She raised her eyebrow. She turned looking for the one profiler she would love a hug from right now. "Anyway…" Moving the topic on "Where's Dave?"
They motioned towards his office, before Hotch spoke up. "He's in his office. He's got a couple of things to sort."
JJ nodded, "I'm just gonna pop in and say hey." With that the blonde left the room to go find David Rossi. A silence fell upon the room as they watched JJ walk away.
"How's she doing?" The technical analyst asked. She pulled a chair out for Emily and they all took a seat round the table to talk.
Emily shrugged. "I'm not too sure. She acts okay a lot of the time; I know she can't be though. I mean she showers 2 times a day, and I noticed last night she had loads of scabs on her thighs and a few on her chest. I'm guessing from trying to wash him away. But she never talks about it." Emily felt comfortable talking in front of her friends about her wife mostly. Although Emily and JJ were very private, she knew talking about this with a bunch of people who didn't live with her could probably help herself understand why JJ was the way she was.
The team understood. They had seen it many times before with countless different survivors. It was part of their daily life. But why when it came to helping someone they work with it was so much harder? "It's not easy having going through what both of you have gone through. I think on her part just through the time I spent and observing her today, she's scared you'll leave. Possibly even jealous she came out worse off." Morgan patted his partners back. He knew he shouldn't profile his friends but for the sake of Emily he was willing to do it. She struggled to comprehend things in times of hardship like this, but only when it applied to her family.
"But I don't know how else to tell her I'm staying this time. I didn't mean to do what I did. You all know that right?" She protested. She had well and truly screwed everything
"Of course we know you're staying but you left her during one of the worst times of her life with no contact. It takes a while to build that kind of trust back up. When Kevin left me, you know it took so long for us to get back to where we were. It took a lot of time and dedication, date nights, the works." Garcia said. She wanted to comfort her friend, but she didn't want to lie. There was no point in tell her a pile of crap.
"I fucked it all." She sat back in her chair. Hoping someone could offer her advice on how to fix the shit she had caused.

A knock on the door made Rossi look up from his paperwork. He had wanted to get through a couple extra files before joining the team in the conference room they would do without him for a couple of hours. "Come in." He shouted putting his pen down to see who was joining him. He smiled and evacuated his chair when he saw the woman who walked through the door. "Bella." The old agent embraced JJ in a hug.
She hugged him back tightly. "Hi." She kissed either cheek as he did to herself. "How are you doing?"
"I'm well Bella. How are you doing?" He asked guiding her to his sofa.
"I'm doing well. It's nice to be back in the office. It's so good to see everyone." She smiled.
He loved JJ as though she was one of his own. When he came back to the BAU they had connected instantly in the father daughter kind of way. He looked out for her and protected her when he could. It was nice to see her smile again. When he had stayed with JJ, it was her first week out of hospital, he hated every minute of it. Seeing a friend as upset as she was and then knowing his other friend was off somewhere hiding because she couldn't deal with the hurt had got him worried for everyone. "And how's everything healing? The seizures how are they?"
"I'm much less sore. My ribs only hurt if I move in the wrong way. I started a new medication last Wednesday, the doctor said it could be a few weeks before I get its full effects so I'm just waiting it out." She placed her purse on the floor next to the sofa. Now she was here she didn't know exactly what she wanted to say.
"Brilliant." He exclaimed. "Hopefully something good will come from this." Rossi paused momentarily watching the younger woman. "So what else brings you into my office? Anything I can help you with?"
JJ looked to him before trying to avoid eye contact. A rush of embarrassment flushed over her. "Do you think I'm ready to return to work? Emily's been cleared part-time. But I got nothing."
He nodded and leaned back into the arm of the sofa. Honestly he wasn't sure if either of them were ready. He hadn't spent much time with Emily, and he didn't know how JJ was coping. "JJ, I couldn't tell you. I'd have to sit down with you both. Talk to you. But going off what I see right now. I'd say no." JJ was about to interrupt but he stopped her so he could continue. "I know what day it is today JJ. It's been 3 months. You have bags under your eyes. So you've not been sleeping, which means your still having nightmares. They probably got worse over the past couple of weeks as we approached today. You've buttoned your jacket wrong, which means both of you and Emily missed it. Your both probably struggling with nightmares. You need time just to get over them. Your still having fits and until they are under control do you want to be here while your having them so many times a day."
As if on cue JJ looked to him before she fell forward into him. He stood up trying his best to grab her under her shoulders and lay her as carefully as he could on the floor. He mentally went through the checklist in his head. He made sure she was safe, he grabbed a cushion placing it under her head, and started the timer on his watch. He looked out his window and saw the others will still in the round table room. He left them and watched after JJ. Grabbing her rescue medication out just in case.
The 5-minute mark came quick so he put the rescue medication into her cheeks massaging them. She stopped soon after that. He sat back thankful she was now resting. He moved her into the recovery position before dropping Emily a text. He didn't want to leave JJ alone.
Another 10 minutes passed before Emily actually came in, the team following close by. By then JJ had briefly woken and lay on the sofa head in her father figures lap as she tried to sleep. Emily took her home so she could recover from yet another seizure. They all prayed for medication to start working, because if JJ carried on the way she was she wasn't going to be working again let alone coming back to the BAU.
