AN: So I took a couple of days off. Well needed rest. But I'm back with some ideas.

So I had an idea to do a prequel which would be a bunch of oneshots to show the beginning of their relationship, each of the kids births, some general life, cases... Stuff like that. Then I could get all the flashbacks of the abduction and put them in a story so you can see it in an order? I'd do it once I finished this story tho. I've still got someway to go. After JJ is out of hospital I'm going to jump to the 6 month mark, which will be just before christmas. I'll then do christmas, JJ back to work with Emily. A case maybe. 9 month mark, Year mark, a couple of cases and then finish it somewhere around there. Because I have an idea for a story after this too. I've been doing lots of thinking haha.

Please review and let me know what you think about those ideas, or if there's anything else you want to see. I hope this chapter is okay.

The surgery had been a success. JJ was resting in her bed, still not having woken yet. Emily was sat by her side holding her hand. She looked at her phone, all the team had messaged, wishing JJ well and telling Emily to start back at work whenever JJ was recovered. Which she was grateful for. She didn't have to make the choice anymore; she didn't want to leave JJ but didn't want to request leave from work when she was just going back. She picked up JJ's hand planting a kiss on the back of it, standing slowly, she made sure as the chair moved back it didn't make much noise. She walked into the private bathroom, as she didn't want to purposely wake JJ, she would rather she woke of her own accord. She picked up her phone.

"This is the Queen of all Knowledge, speak and be recognised."

Emily laughed. "Hi Pen it's Emily."

"Oh, my darling. How are you? How's my gumdrop." The bubbly technical analyst asked. The team had jetted off this morning shortly after they were called in, so Garcia hadn't expected a call off the brunette, she had been expecting a case call. Which made her happier to be receiving a call from her friends.

Emily peaked over to JJ. "We are both okay. JJ's surgery went well and she's resting now. I just wanted to give you all an update instead of text you all the same thing."

"Okay, well please let us know when she wakes up and just drop me a text if you want to tell us anything. I'll deliver the message." Emily could hear Garcia's smile. It was contagious so a smile broke out of her face.

"Thanks Pen. I'm gonna go because I don't want her to wake without me there." The two exchanged goodbyes before hanging up the phone. The profiler went back to JJ's side and went back to holding her hand. She had to make sure JJ knew she was there and wasn't going to leave. After the argument she didn't want JJ to have the doubts she had voiced.

Something like this was scary for both of them especially JJ. As proven the night before with the odd behaviour which had come from the blonde agent. Emily didn't want to make this experience more frightening. She wanted it to go as smooth as possible.

It was only another hour before JJ started to stir. First her hand had twitched and then her eyes moved under their lids. Soon her eyes were opening. The call button was pressed to inform the nurses and doctors JJ was finally awake. Before they had chance to come in the room Emily made sure to kiss JJ softly. Stopping the confused blonde from feeling as confused. Soon Dr West was in doing a couple of exams on JJ, with a nurse stood by her side. "How are you feeling JJ."

"Tired, and I've got a headache." She slurred slightly. Still coming round from all the drugs.

Abi nodded. "That's to be expected." She picked up the chart from the end of JJ's bed and placed it on the moveable table which she had brought over from the side of the room. "So JJ, I want you to know, everything went well. We've replaced the whole thing so we will monitor you, but I think this one will last you a good year. And we're gonna start you on a new medication tonight." After reading over JJ's home EEG results, she had come up with a potentially more effect treatment plan which could control her seizures giving JJ a better quality of life.

"What medication?" JJ croaked out. Her throat suddenly dry. Emily handed JJ a cup of water as a nurse sat her up properly using the remote bed.

"It's called Zonisamide or Zonegran. It's used for Tonic-Clonic seizures and it's helpful with absence seizures, not fully effect but it's noted to reduce the amount significantly."

To say the couple was confused was a slight understatement. They had gotten lost in the conversation big words making their very tired brains spin. "Wait. Absence seizures what's that got to do with it?" Emily asked, hoping something could be cleared up soon.

"Do you remember last time you came when I mentioned about your eyes fluttering and your hand having a slight twitch?" The neurologist paused studying the faces of her patient and wife. They remembered. "Well your EEG results have shown me your have small, and when I say small, I mean a couple of seconds absence seizures. You get them around the time your going to have a tonic-clonic seizure. That's why you had some smaller spikes before the bigger spikes of your normal seizures. You probably don't even notice them. You are completely conscious, or you seemed to be when I observed a couple when you came last."

"So, do we have to do anything for these seizures?" Emily was concerned. Would she have to do more? Was there something she had missed doing which could have prevented JJ from getting to this point. She looked to JJ who was starting to dose off again.

"No, nothing. I'm hoping to get the seizures more controlled with the Zonegran. But a good thing about this one is we can play about with it. There are a few combinations we can try. I want to try you on it alone and if in a couple of months, you still haven't had any results I can give you something else to take along side it. I have a treatment plan and I am determined to get you back to normal and stop your seizures."

JJ slurred "Thank you."

"Yeah, thank you Abi. We are both so grateful. I'm sure JJ will be when she wakes up more." They laughed at the agent who had fallen back asleep. Abi left the two alone.

The rest of the day hadn't been too eventful in the hospital. JJ had been tired; she was in and out of consciousness. When she was awake, she had started to feel sick, the nurses had tried giving her toast, but her nausea wasn't allowing for it. So, rest was the easier way to get over the effects of anaesthetic and surgery. Emily had stuck by her wife's side. She'd held the sick bowl, and rubbed the back of her hand while she slept. It got to 5pm and Emily had gone home. The nurses had assured her JJ would probably continue to sleep well into the next day and they would look after her if she did wake up.

Emily grabbed her stuff and headed home. She'd see the kids and sleep in her own bed, so she was well rested for the week.

At home the kids were excited to see their Mom. They had spent a couple of hours before bed playing a board game while eating take out. A decision Emily and JJ had made before any of the kids were born was, they wanted them to live a life which wasn't consumed with TV and screens, so board games were a frequent thing in the Jareau-Prentiss household. They secretly couldn't wait for them to grow up slightly so they could play more challenging games. After Alice had helped get the younger ones in bed. Emily had gone in to tuck Henry into bed.

"Hey Hen." She whispered as she popped her head around the door.

He was just climbing into his bed, pulling the covers up to his waist, with a book in his hand. "Hey Mommy."

Emily perched on the end of his bed. She was hoping to have a quick chat with him. He had stayed pretty quiet over dinner. "How are you doing bud? You don't seem yourself?"

"I'm fine." He opened his Harry Potter book to the page the bookmark held his place.

"Are you sure? Because I know some scary stuff is happening with Momma. Everyone else is scared, Alice is scared and I'm scared too." Emily admitted to the small but very matured boy. Having younger siblings he had naturally matured much quicker than the others. Henry shrugged. He was scared. But he couldn't be scared. He had to stay strong. Luckily his Mom knew him well. She knew he loved to compartmentalise, just like herself and JJ. "Baby boy. Tell me what scares you. I know it's why your being quiet."

He paused. Looking to his book so he didn't have to look anywhere else. "You and Momma keep fighting. Is she going to leave us like you left for a bit cos I don't want her to go? I didn't want you to go but you went." He confessed. Almost Ashamed he felt this way.

Emily was taken aback by his fear. But she wrapped him up in her arms. "Hen, I have a few things I need to say okay?" She waited for a nod which signalled her to continue. "Me and Momma fighting isn't anything to worry about okay. Everyone does it but we make friends again. We will try not to fight again. For you okay bud." She again stopped her conversation waiting for the nod. She wished with the clicked of her fingers things could be back to normal. "Another thing, Momma isn't going anywhere. Today the doctor did something to try fix her head so she's in hospital for a few days, but she is coming back. Maybe we can go and see her sometime. But I promise she isn't going anywhere. Me neither okay. We are here forever. We may have to get the bad guys sometimes but I we will always come back." She kissed the top of her sons head and lay him down. After she tucked him in a knew he would be okay with his book she took herself down stairs she needed a drink.

A knock at the door startled Emily when she was grabbing herself a beer out of the fridge in the garage. She rushed round to the door, beer still unopened in hand. She was surprised by who was on the other side of the door. "Hey Princess, care to let your partner in for one of those beers?" Derek asked wiggling his eyebrows.

Emily laughed and opened the door for her friend. "Come in. I'll go grab a few beers wait here." She led him to the front room before going grabbing a crate of beer. She needed a drink and no doubt Derek needed a couple. She walked back into the room putting the box on the table.

"How is she?" Derek asked sat on the chair across from Emily. He grabbed a beer opening it with his hand.

"She's alright. Grumpy and groggy. The general anaesthetic has made her feel sick and tired. The nurse said she should be better by tomorrow. She was sleeping when I left." Emily took a long swig of the beer. She's glad her friend had come over. At least now she had an excuse to drink as much as she wanted too.

He frowned watch the way she drank her drink. "How are you doing? It must be stressful on you with the kids an all?"

Emily shrugged. "I don't think I've had much time to take everything in yet. It's only JJ's first night in hospital, and my first night here without her. The kids don't fully realise how long she's not going to be here for. Henry's only scared because we had a fight on Sunday night and by the time they woke up on Tuesday JJ was gone. It'll probably get more hectic before it gets easier, but Alice is a god send and she's gonna drop and pick up the kids so I can see JJ. Hopefully things will be easier with her help and some sort of routine." She prayed deep down things would be easy. She knew her kids and they were anything but easy. But she loved them and hoped she could help ease them through this.

"You know you've got me and the rest of the squad if you need help right? If you want us to stay here or go see Jayje as long as we aren't on a case we can be here for you." He hoped his friend was listening. He knew how she liked to try do things herself first, but sometimes the results weren't always the best, they could be better if she would accept the help of others.

The brunette agent nodded, "I know. I love you all for it." She smiled before downing the rest of her beer and grabbing another.

She soon enough went to bed, while Morgan caught a cab home. Wednesday would be one day down another 6 to go.
