AN: Another chapter. I'm losing a bit of motivation atm. Depressions a bitch right? I'm not gonna post for a few days. I'm gonna write bits and see what I come up with in a couple of days.
Let me know what you think please. I don't want to beg for reviews but they help motivate me to write more.
Thank you LeasWriting, rmpcmfan, Caroliny Hotchner, PAGET and the guest reviewers. I appreciate the support from you all. Sending my love to everyone and see you in a couple of days with something better than the mess I wrote today. *hides away*
3 months later.
Over the past 3 months things had been easier. Emily had continued with her weekly therapy, and was only cleared back for full time, and field work a month ago. She had stopped drinking altogether for a while and was slowly introducing it back into her life. She had much better control over herself and her thoughts. Life was almost perfect. Her and JJ still had a couple of moments where they argued over the situation, they had been in but they had been more equip with therapy tools to get through it. They even started a joint therapy to help talk to each other without it getting out of hand. They were only doing it every other week. Soon they were hoping to change it to once a month and keep it regular. Emily had asked to keep it regular. Finding a safe way to say how they were feeling and resolve it.
JJ had continued to improve. Her 6-month HIV test was still negative. Only 2 more tests before she got the all clear. But they wouldn't be for a few more months. The doctor had assured her it was very unlikely she had it and if she felt ready, she could have sex with her wife. However, they hadn't. They had tried. Twice. But they weren't ready to take it that far, the Images of Doyle invading both their eyes. The blonde was still washing herself more than usual, but with the help of therapy she had noticed the patterns had was asking for help, so she could reduce how much she did it. The scars which were now ridden over her thighs and the few she had on her chest made her not want to do it and try fix the problem. Her seizures at first hadn't changed much, but she was started on a new medication Oxcarbazepine. JJ had come on leaps and bounds with it to the point she was only having a seizure every other day. So, she had been cleared to come back to work, and was allowed some field work. Once her seizures were more controlled, she would be back to tackling unsubs.
Today was a couple of days before the 6-month anniversary. They knew the next few days were probably going to be tough. Every kind of anniversary seemed to be. But the week after they were only in three days before they were off for a week for Christmas, barring any cases. Work was a great distraction for the next few days. Hopefully they could make it through them easily.
"Jayje, stop messing with your skirt you look fine." Emily said pulling JJ's hand away from her skirt as she fiddled with it.
Her hands went straight back to the skirt pulling it down and twisting it. "I have to look perfect Emily. It's my first day back. I just want things to be right." She admitted. She didn't think she could be so nervous, coming back to a place she had worked at for years and even after seeing her friends who worked her every week.
"Baby you look fine." Emily leaned in and kissed JJ quickly before the elevator doors opened, onto the BAU floor.
They walked in holding hands and go bags in their other arms to be left at the office, just in case of a case. When they walked in both jumped even though Emily semi knew what was waiting. A big banner saying welcome back. It was a welcome back for both. Emily had a small welcome back to the unit when she had started back. But she was getting a bigger one now both were back. The team all stood with big smiles on their faces as they held balloons, alcohol free cocktails, and gifts for the duo.
Smiles spread along everyone's face. Each grateful for the normality which was now restored. "I'm so happy." Garcia squealed. "We can start having hide outs again. We can tease JJ over her confessing her how much she loves to eat things off our raven princess, and Emily can help me rein in my chocolate thunder when he gets a bit saucy."
Laughs rounded the room as JJ went red not knowing Emily had said anything about her drug induced confessions, and the technical analysts bubbly banter.
"Seriously though, it's nice to be back to a full team." Derek had said. He wrapped them both into a friendly hug grateful to see his friends getting back to what they were.
Hotch walked off when his phone rung. The teams smiles dropped knowing what that phone call meant. They watched their boss as he motioned for everyone to meet in the round table room in 10 minutes. They had a case. What a day to come back.
The team all sat around the round table waiting for Hotch to walk in with the files of their most recent case. Garcia had just had it emailed over, so she was quickly transferring some of the data over ready for the presentation. It wasn't a pretty case. The boss walked in handing files out to the team, Garcia started.
"We have a family annihilator in Alexandria, Minnesota, so pack those warm clothes and boots you'll need them. Our first victims were The Greene family were found a week ago. Mom, Patty and Dad, Joseph were both beaten and shot execution style here." She pulled up a picture of the sofa where the mom and dad were found dead. "The children Mitchell 10 and Phoebe 9 were found in their beds dead after being given a hefty dose of Ketamine. Not a scratch on them." She pulled up a couple more pictures. "The crime techs think they were made to watch because 2 chairs were positioned facing the parents with duct tape discarded on the floor." She jumped ahead a couple pictures pulling up some new faces "It happened again last night, new family no variations."
"This guy must have a lot of power to be able to overpower both parents and children. Were there any traces of drugs in the parents?" Reid asked flicking through his file.
"Nope." Garcia answered sitting keep her back facing to the screen. She hated the gore. She preferred the happy side of the world. Not the stuff her screen would subject her too.
"What if it was a team?" JJ and Emily both voiced at the same time. They looked at each other with a raised eyebrow. Which the team let out a soft chuckle at the two women who replicated each other.
Rossi piped up sending the focus back onto the case. "What are we thinking two or more?"
"We can't rule out anything at the moment. We'll continue this on the jet, wheels up in 30." Hotch said, he needed a quick chat with JJ before they set off. The team went free collecting the bags and making their way to the jet while JJ hung back knowing her boss wanted to talk to her.
He didn't doubt her ability to do her job. He just wanted to check she was fully ready. He had received her physical and mental evals and both had been more than pleasing for him. He stood behind his chair arms crossed while JJ sat messing with the file in hand hoping her boss would speak soon. "You don't have to go on the case if your not ready." He said bluntly.
"I know. I want to." She admitted although now thinking about everything butterflies spread to her stomach. Her hands rested on it. Could they please go away? "The only thing you have to worry about is catching me if I drop. That'll be embarrassing." JJ laughed. She knew she wasn't fully clear of seizures and the anxiety around them stayed with her daily, waiting for the drop to happen. She never got her anxiety medication refilled after they had been poured down the sink. She wanted to get over it herself. But right now, she would kill for anything to quit the butterflies.
Hotch could see his agent was anxious. If the hand over her stomach wasn't enough. The fact she was trying to cover it by giving him straight eye contact definitely gave it away. She was trying to profile him. "Well you don't have to worry about that. We all took the training. We all have a rescue med on us until your more cleared of them. But if you are worry to much you don't have to come." She looked away. He sighed. "Just think about it. If you want to come, the seat will be there on the jet. If not, you can help from here with Garcia." He walked out the room leaving the blonde to think it over. He went to grab his bag.
Emily had stood outside the room, slightly hidden from both agents who waited inside. She wasn't being nosey. She was there just in case. Or that's what she told herself. Her wife could make her own decisions, but she wanted to be there in case she needed her. Once Hotch vacated the room she walked in. "What do you think Jay? What do you wanna do?" She could see the battle. JJ had been so excited to be back at work. For things to return to normal just as everyone else had. Maybe now she thought she wasn't as ready as she originally thought.
"I just don't want the officers to think we can't do our job because I'm sparked out on the floor because my brains fucked up." JJ shrugged. "I really want to come on the case and help the families. I want justice for them. I just want today's seizure to be over with then I can be a bit at ease for tomorrow. Knowing we'll at least get a day where we can get trust."
The older agent wrapped her arms around the insecure woman. "Babe, It doesn't matter when it happens. They need us and trust us enough already. I'm sure the officers will understand it's not your fault. It's not something you can control." She prayed that medical wise things would recover quicker. She hoped some God was listening down and would help the family get through this. "So, you coming?" Emily moved herself backwards assessing her wife. Smiling when she knew JJ had made her decision.
"Yeah. It's my job." JJ smiled. They shared a brief kiss before setting off to join the rest of the team at the jet."
