AN: Case chapter and Emily chapter. My case doesn't make sense and I'm rubbish at case chapters, but if anyone wants to help with this part feel free.

have fun reading the rubbish I created.

The team had stayed another night, having not fully broken the case yet. But knowing the FBI was in town the Unsubs had sped up their schedule. Meaning they had killed again. But another killing so soon after the other meant they had slipped up. People had been on the lookout. People had been careful. The unsubs had rushed out the last house not checking everyone was dead, and the young boy was alive. Preston Forbes. Reid and Emily had interviewed the young boy and had managed to get an ID on one of the Unsubs which had led to an ID on the other. Now to track them down.

JJ had stayed at the station filling out her paperwork while the rest of the team had gone to apprehend the unsubs. Hotch, Emily and Rossi had gone to their home, while the other two had gone to the workplace. They were going to bring these families justice. As fate would have it. Isaac Washington the more violent of the two was at home. While Jacob Washington was at work.

"Isaac Washington. It's the FBI open up." Hotch said banging on the door they had seen the unsub had gone behind. "We're just here to talk to you. There's no need to be shooting." He didn't want to have to shoot anyone. He hated it in fact, but he knew how this was going. He could tell this guy was going to run or shoot his way out of this.

The silence had everyone wondering why this guy wasn't responding. Hotch kicked down the door with Emily running in first and Rossi not too far behind. The guy had jumped out the window. So Emily followed while Rossi and Hotch went to catch him on the street.

This was the first chase Emily had been in since she had been back. She had been in a small shoot out, a hostage situation but she had been lucky enough to avoid the chase. As she ran only a few feet behind the unsub she could feel her heart pounding hard in her chest. The chase giving her a good adrenaline rush. Something she had missed. "Isaac slow down." She shouted trying to catch up to the guy barrelling down the streets.

Hotch and Rossi had caught up quickly. There was a dead end coming up. Hotch sped ahead pushing the unsub into the fence. They both bounced off and into a wall. Hotch behind the unsub. They fought for the gun. The agents hand held onto the unsubs as they fought. A shot was got off. But hotch didn't have time to see where it had gone. He pushed the unsub into the opposite wall and smashed his hand repeatedly off the wall getting the man to drop the weapon. After he pushed the unsubs head into the wall slightly disorientating him he was able to get a hold of him and cuff the unsub.

Emily had watched the whole thing and rushed to Rossi's side after seeing the gun go off and graze his arm. But she didn't miss a thing. She saw Hotch whack the head of the unsub off the wall behind him. And immediately her brain switched. The flashes of JJ and Doyle. What had happened 6 months ago was back. Even when she thought she was past it. But she kept silent. Silent as the ambulance patched up Rossi's arm and silent on the drive back. She was quiet till they were back at the station. Till they were in the privacy of the room where they had been set up.

"What the fuck Hotch!" She said shoving him slightly. The rest of the team was in the room or walking into it but she didn't care right now. She just had to get this out.

Hotch was shocked, what was wrong with his agent. He had guessed if anyone was going to bottle things up out of his two new returned agent's it would be Emily. He just wished she didn't. Because outbursts like this, we not what helped her. "Emily, what's wrong?"

She paced. Back and forth before stopping to face him. "I can't believe you did that!" She continued to pace running her hands through her hair.

"Did what?"

"You smashed his head off the wall like it was a fucking ball. Do you have any idea what that can do to a person?" Hotch knew what he had done. It clicked for him. What Emily had seen today had reminded her of what she had been through. Of what her wife had been though.

"Emily." He said in a soft voice. Hoping to cool her down.

JJ walked over to Emily who was pacing back and forth in front of Hotch. The moment she heard what Emily had said she had an idea what this was about. She knew. She walked to Emily's side and tried to put an arm around her wife. "Emily everything's…" Her speech was halted as Emily pushed her backwards. Her foot stumbled over a chair and she landed on her bum. The team helped her up and she stood back.

Emily shocked herself at what she had done. She saw JJ on the floor and turned back to her boss. "Hotch, do you have any idea, how many times I watch as JJ got her head pounded off the wall and the floor until she fitted. Until she was forced to live with something like she does. You do not do something like that. It's not in your hands. If they're a bad guy they get the death penalty, in prison they get beat up. Stuff happens to them by the other criminals. But we do not do that. We do not do something that you did." She sighed and brought her thumb to her mouth biting her nail.

He held is hands up. His eyes briefly casted to the team who were stood back letting Emily get out what she needed. "I get it. Emily I'm sorry. I didn't have much of a choice. But I am sorry I didn't mean for something like that to happen. I'm sorry."

Emily turned to JJ who was walking slowly towards her. She took her hand. "We're gonna go pack up." Emily said to Hotch. She looked to JJ. Hotch looked at JJ, who knew she was supposed to stay to finish up but the nod that came from Hotch allowed her to leave and make sure Emily was okay. To make sure she moved past this.

At the hotel Emily grabbed the cigarettes from her go bag and went to the front of the hotel to one of the many bench's that were placed on the street. Herself and JJ both sat and lit up a cig. Emily needed one and JJ craved one seeing Emily smoke. "Emily, I'm okay you know."

"I know you are." Emily took a long drag on her cig. Eyes rolling backwards as she inhaled the goodness she missed.

The younger woman sat back on the bench watching her wife, she took in how stressed she was, and worn down. "Why did you go off on Hotch like that then?"

"He shouldn't take someone's life into his own hands like that." The brunette looked to her side at her wife who was sat enjoying her own puffer. It had been a while since they had done this kind of thing together. No sex means going back to old habits to learn to cope.

"Like we do when we shoot someone?" JJ crossed her arms listening properly to her wife. It was the least she could do.

"But we try not to do that. It's self-defence. It's a last option."

The blonde profiler tilted her head slightly. "Yeah it is, but so was what Hotch did. He was struggling right, and he had to disorientate him to cuff him or it could have gone a lot worse than he did."

"But Jayje. I saw what a hit like that can do. You have no…" She paused realising what she was about to say. "I'm sorry."

JJ held up both her hands showing it didn't matter. "Don't say sorry. You don't need too. Truthfully, I only remember the first two. I don't remember anything until I was in hospital." She paused. "You watched it. You saw every time my head got hit. If I would have been in your position I… Well lets just say I'm not as strong as you have been. If you were in my position. I don't think… I just… your amazing Emily." Her wife was amazing she handled everything the best she could and more. "You had your own stuff to deal with, that you still are dealing with, as well as dealing with me. You're the strongest person I know. Today something happened, and it affected you. I understand that it upset you, I understand it reminded you of what we went through but the way you spoke to Hotch is unfair. It was a last resort and I'm sure at some point you might be in that situation Hotch was today. You might have to do what he did. It's not okay. But it is okay. If you might get hurt, I expect you to do everything you can to fight to get out of that situation and come home to the kids, to the team. To me okay?"

"I messed up today." Emily laughed thinking over what she had done.

The younger of the two shrugged her shoulders and laughed herself "Nah, you just spoke you mind. You might be in a bit of trouble though."

"You think?"

"He'll let you off easy. Don't worry too much."

JJ's phone pinged and she took a quick look. They had one more night here, there were formalities to get through and exit interviews to complete but the team wouldn't be finished until late so they decided they would be leaving at 10 the next morning, and had given the girls the rest of the night off. "Wanna head up for a shower and phone the kids."

"One more before we go up." She held the cigarette packet out to JJ letting her take another one. They sat back and destressed before they went up to their room.
