AN: Hi, I'm back kinda. With being in and out of hospital and the passing of the amazing Naya Rivera I gave up a little. But I'm back.
So After this chapter I have 2 more left which are both partially written, so hopefully I'll get them up soon. The Prequel to the story is working out to be super long because I've got 10 years to cover, which includes 6 births, holidays, accidents, weddings, arguments, smut, the works so bare with me. I have 3 chapters of that story and about another 30 partially written. The Sequel will probably be as long as this story. Which the last chapter will have a jump to the beginning of that story to tie them together. I have again around 3 chapters of that story done, and another few partially written.
I've been writing on paper and laptops for a while, and since Naya passed I've been re reading my awfully bad glee one's and I was thinking of maybe writing a glee story. I don't know. Let me know what you think.
Sorry this chapter isn't the best. Also thank you so much to 12 for your reviews. I love when people are honest with me and tell me what they think! It helps me as a writer to try and make amendments and they gave me the boost to get this story finish for you all. Thank you to all my reviews I love you all.
Another couple of months had gone by pretty quick. Each day had been busy. Filled with work, physio, therapy, doctors appointments, kids, friends. The lot. But Emily and JJ had enjoyed it. So much had improved since the day in the office. So much. Emily considered herself fully recovered, she hadn't had nightmares, any slight twinges of pain were gone. Any guilt was gone. She was happy and at work full time, travelling with the team again and in the field unaffected by things which would have affected her massively in the past few months. It was coming up of their wedding anniversary. JJ's birthday and the one-year anniversary of escaping Ian Doyle's grasp. She had planned something big like the couple usually did for their anniversary. She was excited.
JJ had gotten much better since that day in the office too. She was now back to walking properly. Her resilience and determination had meant she was walking a lot quicker than Abi had thought. JJ even went to the gym and started running again. Her therapy was still on going, but JJ had been like that a lot of her life. It helped her massively deal with her job and everyday life. Susan was someone JJ could vent everything too, and it showed because the blonde was much better for it. Her seizures were getting under control. The last one she had being the a few weeks before. So, JJ had started requalifying to get back into the field. So many things were getting better.
All the kids had even gone to therapy, it was the best choice that had been made by Emily and JJ. They all benefited from it and even though they were happy kids they were now even happier if that was possible and they all found it easier to communicate with their parents instead of maybe hiding car keys or shoes. The shyer children even came out of their shells, and each child was excelling at school. Their only real worry was Luke who seemed to hold some anger and resentment towards her parents, but they were working on it and he was becoming more like the young boy everyone dreamed off.
Usually Emily and JJ planned the trip for their wedding anniversary together, but this year Emily had planned it long before and JJ was actually excited to see where it could be and what they would be doing. She hoped Emily had planned for some bedroom time. They still hadn't slept together properly, they'd had some touches and JJ had done plenty to Emily, but the blonde had never been ready however she was now. Very ready, that she knew when she was finally touched the way she wanted she wasn't going to last long.
JJ had been told to pack for somewhere warm, so she had packed that as well as packed a couple of things in case she got chilly. She wanted to be prepared for everything. Now they were stood in the airport. Emily was looking to the terminal they needed to go to. Not letting JJ see the tickets yet until they got to the doors of their terminal. They walked to a terminal quite far. JJ was pouting thinking Emily was just going to take her out the exit on the other side. As they reached a terminal Emily stopped before JJ could clearly see the sign.
"Is this it?" The blonde asked excitedly trying not to jump up and down, the child in her wanting to explode.
Emily nodded smirking. She couldn't wait to see JJ's reaction. "Okay, so the place we are going has a king size bed, which we can look out to the ocean." The brunette noticed her wifes smile spread wider if that was even possible. "We have direct access to the ocean and our own private decking." Emily wiggled her eyebrows and paused almost as though she was thinking of the other stuff that was there. She knew this off by heart. She had planned the whole thing. "Our own mini bar and a rainfall shower. I've rented a boat for a day and we are going to swim with dolphins and sharks if your up for it. It might just be a longer boat ride."
"Emily!" JJ exclaimed eager to know. "Where are we going?"
"We are going first class to The Maldives. It's one of the places we haven't been yet." The older woman shrugged as though it was nothing.
JJ froze processing for a moment. Their wedding anniversaries had taken them to Greece, Thailand, England, Scotland, Phuket, Dubai, and a few other places. Then with the kids they had been to Spain, Turkey, Hawaii and Disneyland. But one place they hadn't been too was JJ's dream destination. The Maldives. Now she was getting to go. She squealed loudly gaining the attention of others waiting to fly. JJ launched herself into Emily's arms, her legs wrapping round her middle. "Emily Thank you so much. I love you." She placed a hard but loving kiss to Emily's lips. "I love you so much." JJ continued to kiss her showing how grateful she was.
Slowly Emily lowered her wife down. "As much as I want to carry this on, we are in public, I think it's slightly frowned upon." She chuckled. JJ's face flushed seeing others watching. They took a seat waiting for their flight. It was going to be a long one, but it would be so worth it.
Arriving at the place Emily and JJ were staying took 19 hours. 19 exceptionally long hours. Made longer by the fact there was a couple of extremely chatty people seated just across from them begging for a conversation the whole time. But forgetting about that so they could start their holiday the happy couple walked through the door of the small resort they were in. And both jaws dropped. It was beautiful.
"I can't believe you did this Em. It must have cost you so much!" JJ said putting her case at the end of the bed. The windows gave perfect views to the ocean surrounding them, the white in the room making everywhere seem bigger and much more elegant, it was hard to take everything in when it was this beautiful.
"I don't mind. Your worth every penny." Emily shrugged it off. Thanks to her mom's saving she could be comfortable forever, so paying for a holiday like this was nothing. It was time for the both of them together. It was to celebrate their love as well as have a life a couple times a year between the work they did. "I know it's only 7 but I'm going to grab a drink and head to bed, I'm exhausted after that flight. Then tomorrow we can officially begin the celebrations." She headed to the mini bar grabbing two bottles of water. She drank one bringing the other over to the bed.
JJ groaned as she sat on the end of the bed. Her body ached but she was happy to take everything in for a moment before saying. "I'm not complaining. I don't think I'm even going to get a drink. I just need sleep and a bed."
"You don't mind if I sleep in nothing right. I know I planned for the warm weather. But I didn't plan for the humidity at night. I might melt." Emily laughed. She didn't want to pressure the blonde if she weren't comfortable, sometimes JJ preferred clothes on so she could relax, instead of feeling upset that she hadn't been able join Emily in feeling that comfortable yet to do that. She seemed pretty relax tonight though.
"I do not mind Mrs Jareau-Prentiss." The smaller woman smirked, feeling much more like her old self, and much more comfortable in her own skin. "I think you read my mind." JJ was much quicker throwing her clothes off and diving under the sheet giggling like a schoolgirl.
The older woman turned round and rolled her eyes with a grin at her wife who was now in bed lay on her side watching Emily strip. "You know your so dirty sometimes." Emily shook her head and slowly began to take her clothes off.
"I believe that would be you. Have you seen the way your taking your clothes off?" JJ raised her eyebrow just as Emily bent over pushing her panties slowly down her legs. "I'm trying to hold out for tomorrow so it can be all romantic instead of tired sex, but if you carry on, I don't think I can." JJ bit her lip. Her eyes raking over her wifes toned body, loving how over the year no matter how many scars there were or how their bodies changed she was still a beautiful woman.
As Emily finished stripping off, she crawled into bed straddling her wife as they shared a few passionate kisses before Emily rolled off her and they lay in each other's arms. Both asleep with in a couple of minutes, exhausted from their days journey.
4 am rolled around and JJ jumped from her sleep with a fright. She hadn't had a nightmare in a month. She could have guessed she would have had one with it being the anniversary. But she didn't expect while she was in this beautiful place, she would have had one. Turns out nightmares don't care where you are, they will happen when they want to happen. She sat up carefully and grabbed her robe from her case, making her way outside where she was able to watch the waves of the ocean, just off her own private decking. She took in everything and admired the beauty of the open ocean that she could see into.
The silence didn't last too long, she heard the shuffle of her wife coming out. "Babe, everything alright out here?" Emily asked as she spotted JJ leaning against one of the fences, looking down to the sea below her.
JJ turned to see Emily in one of the villa robes. She smiled. "Perfect." They had their own sun loungers, so JJ took a seat, Emily following sitting right beside her, putting one arm around her waist, so they both stayed close to eat other. The silence settled upon them both again. That was until JJ spoke. "I had a nightmare."
"I figured," the pale skinned agent shrugged, something she did a lot recently. "I heard you wake up, but I didn't want to say anything in case you got scared or something, thought I'd let you come round proper. Want to talk about it?" She enquired to the woman who still looked slightly affect from her dreams.
Communication had gotten so much better since the Doyle incident and the joint therapy. They were much more open with each other about thing that happened, no one thought their relationship could get stronger, but it grew stronger each and every day. "It's silly really, it was just that he came back and killed you and the kids then I had to live with him forever. Silly because he's dead but you know, I don't seem to be able to control my head." The blonde rest her head on Emily shoulder, one hand resting on a pale knee, the other brought to the point she could feel the older woman's heart beat on her chest and rested that hand there, providing the comforting effect she wanted and needed.
"It's never silly. I have a similar dream. So, don't worry about controlling your head. None of us can. If we could I'm fairly sure we'd end up like a robot." Emily chuckled at the thought. She had to find humour in something. JJ seemed to find some slight humour in it too.
The blonde agent agreed with her wife. "Yeah I know." She just sighed wishing she could have full control over her body at all times.
"I had a nightmare to around half 2. I thought I was immune now. Turns out not so much." Emily confessed. The anniversary week had definitely thrown both their minds slightly. This was going to be the first of many but Emily silently prayed as they years went by the day would get easier and soon to be forgot, so they didn't have to suffer with the nightmares they did.
From her place curled into her wife's side, JJ looked up, into the deep brown eyes which were looking back at herself. "Are you okay?" She asked softly.
"I'm much better with you in my arms. You remind me how safe I am." Without another word JJ looked back down placing a kiss on the shoulder her head was resting on, then snuffled in closer, allowing them both to gain some comfort from one another.
They sat in the silence for a few more moments. It allowed them to sit with their own thoughts, thinking about how they had grown stronger in the past year. Thinking of their future together. It was nice when their life was that hectic with kids, work, friends and other issues. This time was rare, and they enjoyed it. "So, you coming back to bed birthday girl or do you wanna stay out here until we need to get up?" Emily asked looking to the woman who had come to rest her head on her shoulder.
The young agent shrugged. "Umm, it'd be nice to stay out here, I like the sound of the ocean it's quite relaxing right."
"It is… Scooch your butt in there and get some nightwear on, and I'll do something out her." As JJ stood Emily lightly tapped her behind sending the blonde quickly on her way in.
JJ obeyed and scurried her way in to grab some shorts and a thin vest top. She dressed in the bathroom and when she walked back outside Emily too had put on a pair of pyjamas and had moved both sun loungers together and kept them joined by covering them with a sheet. The brunette was lay with her arms open which JJ gratefully climbed into. She felt warm and protected so was easily able to fall back into a dreamless sleep with the soothing sounds from the outdoors and Emily's strong heartbeat.
When The blonde profiler next woke the other space next to her was empty. The sun temporarily blinded her as she remembered she was outdoors in the Maldives. When her eyes adjusted Emily was stood in front of her with a tray and a big grin on her face. She didn't have time to wake properly when the brunette broke out into the song Happy Birthday. JJ sat up her grin matching Emily's.
The singing finished and Emily placed the tray in front of JJ, but also pinching a kiss from her. She sat opposite, letting the tray sit in the middle. JJ looked down to the tray seeing what was on it. Two glasses of orange juice, a good stack of mini pancakes, a bowl of fruit, a small dish with syrup another with chocolate sauce and another with yoghurt. Of course, in the corner was a tiny plastic cup containing JJ's medication, but her eyes settles on the small black box blending in with the loaded contents of the wooden tray. She didn't think her smile could get any bigger, but it did, and she pointed to the box with a big smile, not saying anything.
"Yes, it's for you. Open it." Emily was slightly excited to see how JJ reacted to the gift she had bought her. She had spent time thinking about what to get her wife and then she saw this gift and knew it was right. With a couple of adjustments, it would be perfect.
"Okay." JJ opened the box, she smiled and laughed. Which made the smile drop from Emily's face. "I can't believe this." She laughed as she stood up putting the box back onto the tray. "Wait right here." She laughed and went inside coming back out with her own black box. She handed it over to Emily who had an eyebrow raised, confused what was happening. "Now I wasn't planning on giving you this until dinner but open it. You'll see why this is so funny."
Emily did as was asked and at first was shocked but then she understood laughing herself. It turns out they had gotten each other the same necklace. Except Emily's was gold and JJ's was silver. The necklace had a bunch of hearts overlapping and crossing over, with their families names written on the hearts and tiny gemstones on either side of the name. It was a beautiful necklace, hence why they had gotten it for each other. "I can't believe we did this."
"Well this is what happens when you spend as much time together as we do I guess." JJ continued to laugh, as she grabbed a small melon ball popping it in her mouth with a shake of her head not over how much the two seemed to be in sync with each other.
"For sure. I can't wait to show the team this." Emily said as she placed her own necklace on round her neck, running her fingers over it gently. "If they didn't already think we were the most romantic, in sync, cringe worthy couple they will now." She picked up JJ's standing and putting it round her wifes neck.
The birthday girl brought her fingers to the necklace which rested round her neck, looking at the matching one on Emily's chest. "Ah well. I love it Emily. Thank you." She leaned over the tray, placing a tender kiss on wet lips, expressing some gratitude.
"I love it too Jennifer. Thank you." Emily reciprocated the kiss, before grabbing herself a melon ball throwing it in the air and catching it in her mouth, earning a small chuckle from JJ, at her own goofiness and talent.
