Chapter 2: Important meetings

It was clear that he had left behind the threshold, that he had walked deeper and deeper into the spirit realm, at least, what he thought was the spirit realm; it was weird, he was expecting dark skies and mountains, the resting place for the souls that had been depicted in buddhist and shinto scrolls, but the only thing he had found was a long hallway, he hadn't even noticed the change, but that was nothing new for him. Maybe because he had died in China? Is that how things worked?

Right at the end of the hallway he finally saw a door, a nondescript, very mundane door, so, without anything else to do, Ryoga knocked on the door, after all, it would be kind of rude to simply walk in, right?

"You can enter," okay, that was weird, he was expecting another kind of voice, one that boomed with power and authority, not a very delicate and melodic female one, but, after everything he had seen in his life, he could probably expect anything. So, without losing more time, after all, he was already dead, he just wanted to see the end of this trip.

Going in he found an extremely posh looking office, he even felt a little about going in considering the quality of the carpet beneath his feet, he didn't want to imagine the amount of dirt he was dragging along, until he had to remind himself that he was just a soul, there was no dirt on this form, at least he thought so.

"Well, look what the cat dragged in, or maybe I should say phoenix," it was the extremely titillating voice what caught his attention and made him look at the one that was behind the desk on this office and he was thankful that he was just a spirit and had no bodily functions, because he was sure he would get a massive nosebleed. He was sure that she was an oni due to the small horns growing on her head, but she was unlike anything he had ever seen, with red exotic skin and long blonde hair that seemed to shine with how beautiful it was. She was wearing what could possibly be the tightest jacket suit on a chest that could probably dwarf Ranma's girl form in size, and the cleavage that she was showing was extremely distracting.

"Guh," bravo Hibiki, not even an hour dead and he was already losing control, this was not what he expected would happen once he was dead.

"Easy soldier, there will be enough time later for gawking, I'm definitely not complaining about the view either," there was something about the way she was looking at him from top to bottom that made him shiver and want to cover himself with something.

"Who are you?"

"Well, if you want to do business before pleasure, I am the one that is in charge of your file," she said waving a manila folder that had his name written in it.

"Wait, file? What the hell? Is this some kind of company or the underworld?"

"Welcome to the future, maybe I'll be able to convince my bosses to finally allows to move everything to digital instead of paper files, but whatever, let's see what we have to work with, don't worry, I won't tell you what is in it, but I can tell you that the file has a new addendum."

"Okay, I'm not even sure what is going on, shouldn't you, you know, just tell me what kind of hell am I supposed to be sent to or something like that?" It seemed that even dead he continued to be pessimistic, but instead of saying anything, the oni simply laughed.

"Oh darling, you are a very special case," simply ignoring his surprise and confusion, she kept on going "you see, the higher ups were really impressed about your actions in Jusendo, so much that they wanted to give you something special, considering that it was not yet your time to cross."

"Wait, you're telling me that was not my destiny?" with a simple shake of her head Ryoga wanted to fall face first on the carpet "I was so sure that was what I was supposed to do back then!"

"Maybe it wasn't your destiny, but you still did an amazing job, after all, a self-sacrificing story is always enough to move the higher ups, bunch of romantics that they are, so hope you are ready to start, because you have two choices, you either go to heaven, or," she said simply raising two fingers on the air, and Ryoga knew she was baiting him, still, he had nothing to lose right now.

"Or?" and as an answer, the only thing he got was an even bigger smile.
