Chapter 28: Pain

The next quarterfinals match was Sam vs Piper. Initially, Sam seemed to struggle with Piper. However, after she started to use Eagle Fang moves, she defeated her with ease.

"You did amazing out there." I say as Sam steps off the mat. Sam smiles at me and then gets back to her position. The quarterfinals were almost done and three members of Miyagi-Do were advancing to the Semifinals. Not to mention, Miguel as well. We have a chance to win this whole thing and finally take down Cobra Kai. People wouldn't have to endure months of bullying like I did. As I looked around, I noticed that I couldn't find Chase anywhere.

"Hey, did any of you see where Chase went?" I ask my teammates.

"I think I saw him leave a few seconds ago with some girl." Demetri says.

"Do you know which exit they took? I don't want Chase to miss any of our matches." I say. Demetri pointed me in the direction he saw Chase go and I quickly left.

Third Person POV:

It was time.

"James just left. It looks like he's going by himself." Steve says.

"Okay. You sure you got this? I could come with you if you want." Kyler suggests.

"Nah. I don't want anyone else to get in trouble for what I'm about to do. Just make sure that none of the Miyagi-Do or Eagle Fang students leave to try and find him." Steve says. Kyler nods and Steve quickly leaves to find a different exit. He had to make sure he wasn't followed.

James's POV:

"Where the hell did he go?" I say to myself as I look around the parking lot. Eventually, I see him. He left the parking lot and is at a completely different building. As I get closer to him, I notice that he's making out with the girl I've been seeing him with. I didn't want to interrupt his fun so I stayed back a bit until they started to get up. That's when I approach him.

"Hey, you guys don't want to miss the big matches, do you?" I say.

"Oh, hey James! I saw your match with Demetri. You put up an amazing fight." Chase says.

"Thanks." I say.

"Hey, I'm Emma. I guess you could say I'm a fan of your dojo." Emma says.

"Nice to meet you." I say.

"So, we should probably head back." Chase says. Suddenly, Chase's eyes go wide. Before I can do anything, I feel something collide into me at full force. Steve had just tackled me. My face hits the ground hard and I begin to feel dizzy. I then feel Steve get on my back. Steve puts my left arm in an arm lock, the exact thing I did to him in the locker room.

"What the hell! Get off of him!" Chase shouts. Steve looks up at Chase with hate in his eyes.

"You know what? I don't think I will. I'm supposed to be the bad guy right? I don't show mercy." Steve says as the pressure on my arm increases.

"You don't have to do this! Nobody needs to get hurt. Think about what you're doing! You know what the consequences will be?!" Chase shouts.

"Oh, I've thought about them all right. This is worth it. This asshole thinks he's better than me because he beat me during our match. The whole valley thinks he's stronger than me. Then, he humiliates me further by showing "mercy" to me in the locker room. You guys think you're so much better than me just because of that, huh?" Steve shouts in anger.

"Nobody thinks that about you. We just want this fighting to stop. Please! I'll even let you beat me to a bloody pulp if you let James go. Just don't hurt him!" Chase shouts in distress. Steve stares at Chase for a bit, then turns to look down at me. He turns back to Chase and gives his signature smirk before breaking my arm.

Third Person POV:

James releases an unearthly screech after the bone in his left arm snaps.

"No!" Chase shouts before charging at Steve. Steve had just gotten off of James and was unprepared when Chase punches him right in the face. Chase delivers a series of left and right hooks into Steve's face, showing no mercy. However, it isn't enough. Steve catches one of Chase's punches and then knees Chase in the chest. Steve then pushes Chase back and hits him square in the face with a roundhouse kick, causing Chase to fall to the ground. However, filled with adrenaline, Chase quickly gets back up and charges at Steve. Steve was ready this time though. He quickly hits Chase in the face with a front kick and then in the chest with a spinning back kick. Chase was now hunched over and Steve is able to deliver a powerful knee right into Chase's face. Chase stumbles back and Steve sweeps both of his legs, making him fall to the ground. Steve puts one foot on top of Chase's knee.

"I think you need to be taught a lesson as well." Steve says. However, before he can do anything, Emma steps in and pushes Steve off of Chase.

"Stop! Don't hurt him!" Emma shouts.

"Stay out of this bitch." Steve says before punching Emma in the face.

"Don't touch her you asshole!" Chase says before getting up and hitting Steve with a nasty right hook. Steve is able to quickly recover and block Chase's next punch using the Miyagi-Do that Robby taught him. That's when Steve decides to use the Quicksilver method. Steve punches Chase in the throat and then kicks him to the ground. Steve then gets on top of Chase and begins repeatedly punching Chase's left eye. At this point, Chase has lost whatever fight he had in him. His eye begins to swell shut as Steve unloads punch after punch into his face. Suddenly, Steve stops and once again steps on Chase's left knee.

"Say goodbye to your basketball career." Steve says as he begins repeatedly stomping on Chase's knee. Chase screams in agony as Steve breaks his kneecap and eventually, he passes out from the pain. Steve gets off of Chase and looks at what he's done. Chase is a bloody mess on the ground, James is crying in pain as his arm is now bent in an unnatural direction, and Emma is just sitting on the ground in complete shock. However, Steve notices something else. A man was running at him at full speed. It was Detective Alfonso. He was off duty as he was wearing regular clothes and seemed to be panicking at the sight he was seeing. Detective Alfonso tackles Steve and pins him to the ground.

"Steve Turner, you're under arrest for aggravated assault. You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law." Detective Alfonso shouts.

Later…

Back at the tournament, Demetri couldn't help but notice that James had been gone a while.

"Hey, what do you think is taking James so long?" Demetri asks Eli and Sam.

"I have no idea." Eli admits.

"I'm sure he's fine. He can take care of himself." Sam says. Demetri nods, but deep down, he knew something was off.

Author's Note: Well, that got dark pretty fast. Trust me when I say that this chapter was necessary to set up each character's arc heading into season 5. How do you guys feel now that Steve got the last laugh? What will happen to him now that he's arrested? What will happen to James and Chase? You'll have to wait and see.
