Chapter 31: Tension

Third Person POV:

Many Cobra Kai students were training in the flagship dojo. It was a complete upgrade to the old dojo. Inside were the top three students: Tory, Kenny, and Kyler.

"We could've gotten more payback on Chase if Lip hadn't stepped in." Kyler says.

"I wish I could punch Hawk right in his stupid face." Kenny says.

"Why were you trying to get payback on him anyway? He's in crutches." Tory questions.

"He betrayed Cobra Kai! He's one of the reasons Steve got arrested!" Kyler shouts.

"Steve's the one who messed up. He's the reason people are unsure about Cobra Kai." Tory says.

"Screw that! Steve was a loyal member of Cobra Kai! He wasn't gonna let that pussy James get away with beating him!" Kyler says. As the two were talking, a boy enters the dojo. Tory and Kyler are surprised to see who it is.

"Is that James? What's that pussy doing here?" Kyler asks.

"What the hell do you want?" Tory asks.

"I came here to warn you." James says.

"Warn us of what?" Tory asks.

"If the Cobras don't back off of Chase, they'll have Miyagi-Do to answer for." James says. There's a small pause before Kyler and Kenny laugh.

"That's why you came down here? To tell us that?" Kyler asks while laughing.

"So, beating up disabled people is funny to you?" James asks.

"No. I think it's funny how you think Miyagi-Do can beat Cobra Kai." Kenny says.

"You think you can take us on?" James asks before approaching Kenny. Kenny quickly gets in a fighting stance. Before anything can happen, Terry Silver appears.

"James Evans, to what do I owe the pleasure?" Terry asks. James couldn't help but be intimidated by this massive man.

"Just talking to the Cobras, I'll be on my way." James says before leaving the dojo. After he leaves, Terry turns to face his students.

"If that boy lays a finger on you, what will you show him?" Terry asks.

"No mercy!" The students shout.

James's POV:

I can't believe I actually just did that. I challenged Cobra Kai in their own home. As I'm walking, I bump into a kid who seems to be a year younger than me.

"Sorry, I wasn't looking." I say.

"It's fine." The kid says. I look down and notice that he has a Cobra Kai flyer in his hand.

"What the hell is that?" I ask.

"Oh, it's something that I got from a Cobra Kai student. I was just heading over to the dojo to join." The kid says.

"Trust me kid, you don't wanna go there. Cobra Kai is filled with nothing but bullys and assholes." I say.

"No offense, but I'll still like to go and check out the place." The kid says while trying to get around me. I don't let him pass.

"Cobra Kai is the reason I have a cast. Did you not hear what Steve Turner did?" I ask.

"Cobra Kai denounced Steve Turner and his actions, saying he wasn't even a true member of Cobra Kai." The kid says.

"Oh what a bunch of bullshit. He bullied me every day at school!" I shout.

"Uh, you're kinda scaring me." The kid says.

"Good, because I'm not gonna let you join Cobra Kai." I say while pushing the kid back.

"James? What are you doing?" I hear a familiar voice say. I turn around and see that it's Miguel. The kid takes the opportunity to run past me.

"Miguel?" I ask.

"Yeah, it's me." Miguel says.

"Why didn't you show up at the hospital? You missed Chase getting discharged." I ask.

"I was spending time with my family, I couldn't make it." Miguel says.

"Then why didn't you respond to Eli's message? That was the least you could've done." I ask.

"I was just busy." Miguel says. I roll my eyes.

"So, did you enjoy Mexico?" I ask bitterly.

"Is something wrong?" Miguel asks.

"Yeah! You left the country without telling anyone!" I shout.

"I needed to. I needed to discover who I was." Miguel says.

"So, even after Chase and I got injured, you still decided that leaving everyone was the best move?" I ask.

"It's not like that." Miguel says.

"Yes it is! You knew how much we were suffering. Everyone visited me in the hospital. Demetri, Eli, Sam, Bert, Nate, Chris, Mitch, and even Anthony for God's sake. You didn't even bother to check in." I say.

"I couldn't really do much!" Miguel shouts.

"You called Sam didn't you?" I ask.

"Look, I'm really sorry what happened to you, okay?" Miguel says.

"Yeah right. The only reason we're talking right now is because we bumped into each other. When were you finally gonna talk to me or Chase?" I ask.

"I was going to eventually! Why are you being so selfish right now?" Miguel asks.

"Selfish? The least you could have done was contact me." I say.

"Well maybe you could've tried contacting me? Ever think about that?" Miguel shouts.

"Oh, so now this is my fault? Even if I did contact you, how would I know you would respond? You could've just ghosted me like Eli for all I know." I say while getting closer to Miguel.

"James, I don't want to fight right now. You don't know anything about what I've just been through." Miguel says.

"Yeah, and I don't care." I say before walking past Miguel.

Third Person POV:

Steve was having a hard time adjusting in juvie. Back when he was in Cobra Kai, everyone knew his name. He was one of the top fighters in the dojo. Juvie was a different story, nobody cared who he was. However, the thing Steve missed the most was fighting. Fighting was the best way to get his adrenaline pumping and show off everything that he had learned. Seeing the fear in his opponents eyes was one of the best parts. Right now, it was free time and Steve was bored as hell. He needed something to do, or rather, someone to mess with. After searching, Steve found the perfect target. A boy was sitting at a table by himself, he was looking down, as if trying to avoid everyone. As soon as Steve saw him, he couldn't help but smirk. This was going to be fun.

"Hey weirdo, what are you doing?" Steve asks while approaching the kid. The kid doesn't even turn to face Steve.

"Hey freak, my eyes are up here. Look at me." Steve says. The kid doesn't move.

"I said look at me." Steve says before pushing the kid to the ground. The kid quickly gets up and locks eyes with Steve.

"Oh, so now you wanna listen?" Steve says. However, what happened next shocked Steve. The kid punches him right in the face, causing Steve to stumble back a bit.

"Okay, now you've done it." Steve says. Steve delivers a roundhouse kick to the kid's face and then a punch to the gut. Steve then slams the kids head on the table. However, the kid fights back by tackling Steve to the ground. The other inmates were all watching the fight by this point. Steve headbutts the kid then knees him in the chest. Both Steve and the kid get up off the ground. However, Steve quickly sweeps the kids legs and then gets on top of him. Steve repeatedly punches the kid in the face until two guards come and pull Steve away.

"Let me go! Let me go!" Steve shouts as the guards drag him out of the room.

Author's Note: I'm finally uploading consistently again. I have so many ideas planned for season 5, and I can't wait to show them to you. The next chapter will be about the water park and you'll get to see how James deals with the Cobras. How will the Cobras treat Chase after James's threat? What's going to happen with Steve in juvie?
