Danny's POV

3 months and 15 days since we left the farm.

I only know that because ever since I revealed I was pregnant Carol has been counting the days.

Winter never used to faze me, I used to love snowy and cold days because you had a house you could go and warm up in with a nice cosy blanket and a hot drink; But now, well I don't think I could hate anything more. Good news is Daryl doesn't think there'll be many more Winter days left.

The building in front of us is huge and even from a distant it's not hard to figure out what the signs says. We've found an Amazon warehouse. Daryl pulls the bike in to the carpark.

I tilt my head back, "well look at that". Obviously this building isn't going to be untouched but with it being so big there's no way it's going to be a wasted stop. Merle lets out a low whistle as he climbs out the drivers seat.

The door to get inside is already open and as we all stand in a line and stare in to it the worse it seems. It's pitch black in there and is in no way inviting at all.

"We split up, two teams". Daryl then pulls the string back on his crossbow so he can load it.

I tap the very top of my bat against the floor and then use it to lean on. "Yeah, I'm not going in there".

"What". Both Daryl and Merle ask in unison. Daryl stops mid load of his arrow.

"I ain't going in there. I am neither stupid or have a death wish".

Carol steps closer to me. "She's right, we're gonna stay out here".

"Seriously?" Not sure what Merle's failing to understand here.

"Oh I am very serious. It's huge, dark and scary as hell in there. I'm not going." I gesture at Merle with my bat. "But you two can go right ahead. Just leave me the truck keys just in case."

Merle shoves my bat away and scoffs. "Ya actually bailin' out of a search?"

"Yeah, you got a problem with that?"

"Ye.. I mean I don't know. I'm confused". Merle casts a glance at him brother, guess he's not used to me willingly offering to stay put.

Daryl sighs with an eyeroll aimed at his brother. "You three stay put, keep watch".

"Okay, shout if you need help, although I don't think I'll come running. I really believe you guys are on your own for this one".

Daryl's lips lift in a small smirk, he knows how untrue that statement is and knows I'll come running in at the first sign of trouble.

I hold my hand out to Merle, palm up, and wiggle my fingers. He slaps the keys into my hand. "Good luck". He just grunts in response. With their torches held between their teeth they disappear into the dark warehouse.

I'm crouched down staring out down the road waiting and watching. Sophia is stood beside me tearing open a bag of crisps.

"Want one?" She suddenly stuffs the packet in front of my face. I gag at the smell of them, slap my hand over my mouth and turn away. I guess cheese and onion flavour are a no go for me from now on.

"Sophia!" Carol pulls Sophia away, "Come away".

Sophia gasps causing me to look over at her. "I'm so sorry. I forgot." She starts folding the top of the bag over. "I'll put them away".

"Oh no you don't have to do that just maybe don't eat them so close".

She smiles. "No it's okay. I can eat them in the car".

I don't try and change her mind 'cause honestly I'm glad she's not gonna eat them anymore. I hate slowly finding out what smells and foods make me throw up, so far there isn't a lot that I actually can stand.

Carol keeps glancing at her watch as she stares into the empty doorway so after taking a couple of deep breaths to make sure I'm okay I force myself to stand up.

"How long's it been?"

She checks her watch again. "'Bout 45 minutes now", she looks at me over her shoulder. "You think they're alrigh'?"

"It's a big place, I'm sure they're fine". I'm definitely trying to reassure myself as well. We haven't heard a sound since they entered. Not even Merle being his normal loud self.

"Should we go in and check?"

I groan, I really don't want to have to go in there.

"I can go on my own", Carol offers as she pulls out her gun.

Damn it. "No, how about we just try and call them first. I mean either they answer back or Walkers appear".

"Okay, Sophia stay back". Carol and I move over to the doorway. I stand a little to the side so I can swing my bat at anything that comes out of there. Carol stands a couple steps back staring straight into the warehouse, gun at the ready. A mixture of backup and bait.

"Merle!" I call Merles name first because he's got the loudest voice and out of the two of them is more likely to shout back. Daryl would hear and then would silently walk back to us and accidently scare the living daylights out of us.

I wait and give him ample time to reply and then I shout Daryl's name but nothing. I groan, "Are you kidding me".

Carol offers a little smile, "Sorry sweetheart, looks like we're goin' in".

I tut and shrug my bag off so I can get my torch out. "We don't split up".

"We won't, Sophia you walk between the two of us. Do everything we say".

"I will". Sophia then steps in front of her mum with her knife held tight.

"Okay, lets go". I put my bat on my back and take out my gun and then with my torch held up I step in to hell.

As we're walking along the front wall, shining the light down each aisle as we pass by, we hear a sound, and I know it's not in my head because Carol and Sophia both stop at the sudden noise. It's coming from the next aisle over. I move up against the racking, making sure the other two follow, and wait for either something to come around the corner or for the sound to happen again. I turn my torch off and slip it into my coat pocket. Carol stills has hers out but she's hiding the light by pushing it against her side.

This sound is different and it comes from right beside us. I swing my gun up at the same time Carol brings her torch up to illuminate what I'm about to shoot.

The torch lights up the very familiar crossbow that's aimed straight at me. Daryl swears under his breath and instantly lowers the bow, I quickly stick my gun back in it's holster. I am pissed.

"I called you, both of you and you seriously couldn't be bothered to just shout something back to let me, let us know you were okay."

Daryl swings his crossbow onto his back. "I didn't hear you, Merle said you'd called".

Oh, of course, Merle. I glare right at him.

"Ya said you weren't ever gonna come in so I took that as a challenge, and well look at this". He gestures at me, "You're inside and it ain't that scary".

I pull out my bat. "Wanna see how hard I can swing this".

"Merle ya fuckin' Dick." Daryl swings and punches Merle on the chest, pretty hard by the air that suddenly leaves Merle. "She ain't laughin' this time, ya gone to far".

"Damn straight I ain't laughing. I thought something had happened to you, we all did. There's times and places you can fuck around Merle but this ain't one of them".

He looks down at me sheepishly, "Sorry squirt. My bad. Come on lets get out of here". He brushes past me and as I turn to watch him walk away I notice Carol reach up to tug on his ear she then whispers something to him.

Daryl slings an arm over my shoulder and starts to walk us out. "I'm sorry, I didn't know that that was his plan. Otherwise I'd have shouted back".

As we step out into the open air again I feel a lot less claustrophobic, it was way too dark in there.

Daryl stops and looks up at the sky. "We better find somewhere to stay, looks like it's gonna storm".

I look up at the sky to, those clouds don't look good.

I feel the first of the rain drops as I sit on the back of the bike, barely a second later the heavens open. I'm soaked to the bone instantly. Daryl stops the bike so I climb off, wrapping my arms around myself, the wind has picked up drastically. Daryl steps up behind me and wraps his arms around me pulling me tight against his chest.

Carol and Merle climb out of the car, thankfully leaving Sophia in the warmth. Merle raises his voice so he can be heard above the wind and rain.

"Where we gonna stop, you two can't ride out in this".

"We stop at the next good place". Daryl raises his voice back before leaning down so his mouth is right next to my ear. "Ya need to ride in the truck". I go to say no that isn't happening but he stops me. "Please. We'll make it a short a journey as possible".

I nod reluctantly and hurry over to Carol who opens the back door for me. She then climbs in to the front seat just as quickly to get out of the rain.

"Sophia, sweetheart, come up front, let Danny rest".

Sophia pouts at me, "Urgh I thought we'd be able to hang out together".

I offer her a shy smile and shrug. "Sorry, mums orders". Sophia then climbs over the seat to sit up front, squashing into the seat with her mum.

I pull off my hat and take off my jacket as Merle gets in and starts the car. "Will he be alright out in that?"

"As long as he goes at a decent speed he should be fine".

I lay down as we move down the road. I'm already feeling way too hot.

I don't know how far we even make it down the road but I can't do this, I'm not going to make it. I suddenly sit up and reach for the handle. Merle's name tumbles from my lips before I have to put my hand over my mouth to try and stop myself throwing up. I open the door causing him to slam on the breaks and then I'm out the car before it's even fully stopped. I bend over and throw up as soon as my feet hit the tarmac.

The rain suddenly stops hitting me and instead is hitting the coat that's being held above me. When I'm finally done I stand upright and take the jacket and hold it above me myself. "Thank you". Carol nods and rubs her hand up and down my back soothingly.

Daryl steps in front of me and grabs my hand, "Come on. There's a bar, we'll stay there tonight". He then pulls me after him at a slight jog.
