"Hmm? Oh, I was just wondering… how far we have come."
The two sisters, Seiki and Matsuyuki, sat back and pondered at the world before them. They were currently in the FRMMORPG 'Ultimate Accel', also called UltimAccel. Its tagline was 'whatever you focus on becomes your reality'.
They weren't exactly sure how it worked, but it supposedly took in data obtained from your REM sleep through your Neuroqlest and generated the world around you. Depending on the dream you had, the world could be either pleasant or gloomy, and thus you viewed the world around you as you had imagined it to be. Sometimes, it could even be a reflection of the real world itself.
Usually, when players interact with each other, they end up seeing different worlds from each other. This was because UltimAccel's server ran on polymorphic data generated from the structure of the real world. Though the area they walked in the map was the same, the visual data sent to the players was not. But when they do battle, they get sent to the world envisioned by the player who sent the challenge. So, if the player on the offense had a very dark landscape, it may be a scary place for the defending player… or an obstacle to overcome.
In these kinds of duels, the players enclosed themselves, both in a shell that was formed from self, as well as the world that they experience. If the opponent could break through that and reach their heart as well, it would lead to strong bonds that could overcome anything… or so was the philosophy of the developer of this game.
Right now, Seiki and Matsuyuki were in a world of green that stretched as far as the eye could see, with occasional flowers blooming in splendid beauty. This world was a perfect reflection of the harmony and tranquillity they felt deep within their souls.
"Indeed… It's been three years since then, huh…"
"Certainly, we got to experience a whole new world we haven't seen before…"
"…Which gave birth to this wonderful game, where players could open up to each other. Honestly, it's a real genius move from her.", Seiki finished her sister's sentence.
"Indeed. Who would've thought that you could create worlds from your mind? That's almost unheard of in an MMO."
"Well, at least you can change your dream world once you gather enough experience. Right now, both of us are in the same world, but there's no telling when that might change."
"Hehe, I think that's a testament to how close we are, Seiki-nee.", Matsuyuki added, slightly teasing her older sister whom she loved so much. "You needn't worry. As long as we are together, I believe we can overcome anything."
"You're right…"
And thus, the sisters sat down to reminisce about what happened three years ago… which was the final stage of the prototype of the game they had been playing for five years at that point, the XRMMO known as 'Elysium Eclipse'.
