A/n) I couldnt get this one out of my head. Young teens and their uncontrolled curious hormones. Fun right?

Motivation is your superpower!

It hurts him.

Dick knows he never stopped being her friend.

They've avoided each other for months.

But all that bitter jealousy disappeared once the call came in.

Barbara's been kidnapped.

Commissioner Gordon was shaking when he told them. Some Blackgate hak wanted revenge for his brother's death and took the commissioner's daughter.

Who knows what he'll do to her.

So now he has to be professional and pretend he doesn't know her personally and try to keep a level head as he crawls across beams of the old sawmill they found her in.

"Robin, report." Batman's voice comes in through his com.

"I've got eyes on the kidnappers, three of them, armed, and Babs. . . she's tied up, gagged, way back row," His voice shakes.

"Focus, breath, it won't do anyone any good if you don't breathe."

He is breathing.

Really.

And he's angry.

Babs looks bruised, and struggling. But otherwise fine. He swallows thickly and wishes he could have been there to stop them.

"He's my best friend. . . and he doesn't even look at me anymore."

Robin looks at the forlorn girl sitting on the rooftop. He'd been out patrolling and he missed her, since she won't talk to Dick maybe she'd talk to Robin.

"If you ask me, he's a jerk." He says stiffly, sitting next to her.

Barbara laughs at the air, puffs of air clouding in the cold, Gotham's dark and sparkling with lights through the smog, and her little diamond stud earrings sparkles under a reflected street lamp. She looks pretty. He can admit that.

"He is, but he's also sweet, and goofy, and fun, and.. . and -" She suddenly sniffs and Robin freezes when she hugs her knees and starts crying.

"And I miss him, Robin, I miss him a lot. I thought he didn't want to hang out with me anymore, you know, becoming aware of his rich boy responsibilities or something and I'm just a dopy commissioners' kid and. . . " Her voice breaks.

He feels even worse than before. He awkwardly pats her back with a gloved hand. "Maybe tell him how you feel?" He feels like an idiot.

She looks at him, face shiny with tears. "Yah. . . you try telling a fourteen-year-old boy you like him and maybe wanna kiss him sometimes even though he's been your best friend since you were ten." She colors.

Dick's heart flutters, she wants to. . . kiss him. . . sometimes? Too? Oh, geez, he thought he was weird. . . oh, thank goodness. . . he shakes his head, gotta remember, you're Robin, not Dick.

Dick doesn't know this.

"Well, since I am a guy. . . maybe you should just tell him that. I don't think he would be disappointed." Idiot.

He's a moron.

She looks at him funny and he thinks he's blown it now.

"Why not?"

"What?"

"Why wouldn't he be disappointed?"

Is she fishing for a complement or something?

He colors and shifts awkwardly. "Um. . . well, you. . . you're like, really pretty and stuff, and smart, and what - what boy wouldn't wanna, you know, kiss you. I mean not that - I don't mean creepy like, I mean maybe he - maybe he -"

"Do you want to?"

His brain short circuits and all he can do is stare at her pretty pink, probably strawberry flavored, lips.

He swallows. "Yah."

The air sort of stops around them and he realizes he's a completely screwed up.

She stares back at him. "Ok." She says quietly.

Wait what? But - but doesn't she like Dick? Why would she kiss Robin? What is she thinking? Why would she - his brain hurts.

She leans in and suddenly he's all nerves and frozen and hot and she presses a small kiss to his cheek and pulls away.

"Thanks Robin, maybe I'll tell him after all."

Oh - oh she was just. . . thanking him. Oh ok. . . he's not disappointed, not at all. She was talking about him after all.

"Yah. . . you should."

For the first time in months, he's made her smile.

He lets out a steady breath and drops in front of the mooks. They startle, throw threats and aim guns, he takes them out easily, it's why Batman let him do this alone, besides Joker breaking out was way more dangerous. He kicks the leader guy harder than necessary in the face, hears a nose break and takes satisfaction when he goes down with a screech.

"You okay Miss Gordon?" He hurries to her and he takes in her dusty face, tear tracks trailing streaks in the dirt, her hair is a mess, she looks bedraggled and angry and. . . he wants to just apologize and tell her everything right then and there.

He unties the gag gently and aims to work on the chains.

"It's about time, what kinda knight are you?"

He hides his face. "Sorry princess."

"You promised you know."

"Did they hurt you too much?"

"Hah, they're second rate losers, if it was the Riddler or something then maybe I would be scared."

He hides the grin threatening to break his relieved face, leave it to Babs to be kick butt even tied to a chair. He solders through the chain link and she stands with a groan.

"Man, being tied up for eight hours sure makes your butt numb."

He looks at her in awe, most girls would be blubbering and clinging to him right now. Babs was awesome, smart, beautiful, and his little puberty fueled heart can't take much more of her.

"Robin, look out!" She grabs him and vaults herself forward, kicking an oncoming thug right in the groin. The guy squeals like a Chihuahua and goes down. Robin grabs her hand and they run out of there before someone picks up a gun. He zip-lines them onto the nearest roof and sets her down carefully.

"You ok?"

She brushes her hands. "Yah, you?"

"Good, I'm good."

"Good."

They stare at each other for a moment and he realizes she's taking in his masked face, it's probably the first time she's seen him in daylight and that could be bad. But he can't find it in himself to care.

"Robin. Report."

Of course Batman would interrupt.

"Hostage safe and sound, tell Gordon she's on her way home."

"Good. Turn in."

An order, probably because Bruce knows he had a truck ton of overdue assignments this week.

He aims to get them down.

"Wait." Barbara grabs his arm and he turns. "Um, Thanks - thank you, Robin." She averts her eyes and he suspects she's thanking him for more than this rescue.

He grins and wraps an arm around her waist. "Anytime Princess."

Soooo... there you go. Short and cutesy. I liked it. Hope you did too. Leave a review, they're my food supply you know.
