A/N: In this chapter we'll see Lincoln go up against gang members.
A full two month had gone by since Lincoln had become Ace Savvy. Being a superhero definitely had its ups and downs. On the one hand, Lincoln had been taking down criminals left and right, whether it was small mugging or stopping full on robberies at stores and gas stations. On the other hand, there were a few downsides as well. For one, there had been times where Lincoln had almost been caught by one of his sisters luckily, they hadn't figure it out. And there were other times where Lincoln came home with an injury (normally a cut on his arm or leg) which was hard to hide. But Lincoln didn't mind as long as he was helping people.
Speaking of helping people, Lincoln started his day with a bang. A nearby gas station was in the middle of being robbed by two men with machine guns. "Alright, no one move!" The masked man orders the costumers that were inside the store. "As for you, start putting the money in the bag!" The second masked man order the cashier as pointed his gun at him. The cashier, fearing for his life decided to appease the man by starting to money out of the register and placing it inside the man's bag. But just before he could fill up the bag a figure burst through the window.
The figure stood up revealing that it was Ace Savvy. "It's that punk kid from the news, shoot him!" The mask man near the register said to his partner. His partner went and aimed his gun at Ace, but before he could fire off a shot Ace threw a throwing star into the barrel of the gun, jamming it. He then quickly ran up to the mask man, performing a scissor leg takedown that flipped the man into a shelf and knocking him out. Ace then dodged a few rounds of bullets that were shot at him by the second masked man. After dodging those bullets, Ace quickly threw a throwing star, which hit the mask man right hand, causing him to drop the gun. Savvy quickly capitalized as he rushed in, delivering an elbow strike to his stomach before knocking him out with a left hook.
"Looks like my work here i done." Ace says to himself before looking at the cashier. "Make sure to call the cops so they'll arrest these to." Ace tells the cashier who nodded as he was still in too much shock to answer. Ace then exited the gas station before getting on his motorcycle (which he named the Ace-Cycle) and rode off.
As Ace was riding, he received a call from Lisa through his radio link. "Hey Lisa, what's up?" Ace asks. "Dear brother, may I ask what you are doing?" Lisa asks with a hint of anger in her voice. "I'm helping people. You know, the thing we agreed that I'd do a month ago." Ace reminds her, not seeing what the big deal is. "Then let me remind you that it is six forty-five, in the morning! On a Thursday!" She yelled before continuing. "If you don't return home now, one of our sisters will notice your disappearance." Lisa tells him. "Okay Lisa, I'm on my way home." Ace says with some reluctance.
A couple minutes later we see Ace ride into the bunker (which him and Lisa renamed the Ace Fortress) and Lisa was sitting at her computer station waiting on him. "You're cutting it dangerously close brother." Lisa tells him. "I'm sorry okay, but there was this robbery and I had to stop it." Lincoln defended as he changes into his normal clothes. "Besides it's not like anyone would care if I'm not around?" He muttered to himself. However, Lisa had heard what he said but decided to not give a reply.
"Let's just head inside and start to get ready for school." Lisa says. Lincoln nods and the two then proceed to exit the bunker. Then the walk inside the house, but as they do someone happens to see them. "What were you two doing outside this morning?" Asked Lori who was sitting at the kitchen table. "Oh uh... Hey Lori... I was just taking an early morning jog." Lincoln said, trying to come up with a reasonable lie. "And I was simply doing experiments in my underground bunker in the backyard." Lisa says as it wasn't a complete lie. Lori looked at the two suspiciously before shrugging it off. "Okay then. Just so you know, I'm going to busy after school today. Me and Bobby are going on a date." Lori said with a dreamy expression.
Lincoln rolled his eyes and tried to resist the urge to gag, he didn't have a problem with Lori's relationship, but she was so mushy about it all the time. Lincoln and Lisa then exit the kitchen before Lori got anymore lovey-dovey. "See brother, this is what I mean. We were nearly caught." Lisa says with a serious tone. "I understand Lisa, but trust me, NO ONE will figure it out." Lincoln assures her before walking up to his room. "I hope you're right Lincoln." Lisa mutters to herself.
Later we see Lincoln at lunch with his friends. "Hey Lincoln, I was wondering if you're free Saturday. There's this zombie laser tag maze me and Clyde found out about, and we were wondering if you wanted to go?" Henry asks Lincoln. "Sure, I'll go. But I can't stay too long. I promised Lisa that I'll help her out with something Saturday." Lincoln said as it was partially true. "Okay." Henry replied. "Oh Lincoln, I meant to tell you that there's this Jurassic Park remake at the movies Tuesday you want to come with me and the others." Jordan asks.
"Sure Jordan. I've always been a fan of Jurassic Park." Lincoln comments as he goes back to eating his lunch. However, he happened to notice someone walking towards him. "Oh, hey Ronnie Anne. What's up?" Lincoln asked her. "Hey there lame-o. I need you to do me a favor." She requested. "Oh, okay. What's the favor?" Lincoln asked as he was very intrigued by Ronnie Anne asking for something from him. "I need you to go to the dojo and tell Sensi Erik that I can't come today." She tells him.
Lincoln was very baffled by her request. Ever since Lincoln became Ace Savvy, he's hasn't gone to his karate lessons as frequent as he used to, but he still goes every once and a while. As for Ronnie Anne, she never misses a chance to go. This made Lincoln get curious as to why she had to miss practice. "Okay, I'll tell him. You must have something really important to do if you have to miss practice." Lincoln says trying to prompt Ronnie Anne to tell him why she wasn't going. However, Ronnie Anne remained firm with simply replying, "Thanks. Catch you later lame-o." She says as she walks off.
When Lincoln turned back to his friends, he saw a look of bewilderment on their faces. "What?" Lincoln questions. "Sorry buddy, it's just..." Clyde began but he couldn't find the words he was looking for, prompting Jordan to speak up. "It's just hard to imagine you being friends with someone like her." Jordan says to Lincoln. "What's that supposed to mean?" Lincoln asks, raising his eyebrow. "Well, you know, Ronnie Anne isn't your typical girl." Rusty says. "I hear she's as tough as a bull and as angry as one that sees red." Liam comments. "I hear she's a part of a street gang." Zach added.
"C'mon guys, your being ridiculous. Sure, Ronnie Anne is tough as nails but she's a cool person. I mean, just look at her." Lincoln says as he points in Ronnie Anne's direction. The others look over to see Ronnie Anne talking with a girl with black hair and looked of Asian descent. "Who's she talking to?" Stella asks. "I think that's Sid Chang. She moved here a couple of weeks ago. She has a great personality, nice smile, and lovely eyes." Clyde says as his friends look at him with smirks which causes him to blush in embarrassment. "Well, it better than you crushing on Lori, anyway, that's just proves my point. If someone like that is willing to be friends with Ronnie Anne it proves she's a good person." Lincoln states.
"I see your point Lincoln, just be careful around her." Stella advises with a cautious tone. "I will." Lincoln promises, although he still felt like he had nothing to worry about. Lincoln and the gang went back to eating their lunch until the bell ring, telling them that lunch had ended, and it was time to go back to class.
A couple hours later the school day had ended. Lincoln was saying bye to his friends when he spotted Ronnie Anne along with Sid walking towards the back of the school. Lincoln thought nothing of it at first but then his curiosity got the better of him and he decided to follow them. Once behind the school Lincoln hid behind a bush to spy on them, as he sees Ronnie Anne take out her phone and start to call someone.
"Hey, it's me... Yeah, I can come today. Where do you want to meet?... Okay, see you there." Ronnie Anne says into her phone before hanging up. "Are you sure about this Ronnie?" Sid asks a bit worried. "Of course, Sid. All we're doing is setting up for tomorrow." Ronnie Anne replies which really gets Lincoln suspicious as to what they're talking about. "Okay, just be careful." Sid advises. "Of course, I call you after I'm done." Ronnie Anne tells her as she begins to walk away,
As he made sure Sid didn't spot him, Lincoln began following Ronnie Anne. He made sure to stay a good distance away from her as he followed, and it paid off as it led him to a rough looking neighborhood. That's when he sees Ronnie Anne met up with a group of rough looking people, who looked a year or two older than her and himself. "Started to think you weren't coming Santiago." One boy with tattoos and a beanie hat says. "Of course, I was coming. Just got held up." Ronnie Anne tells him.
"Well, now that you're here we can get this show on the road." A female says. Ronnie Anne then began to follow the group with Lincoln close behind. After a few minutes Ronnie Anne and her group of associates reached a back alley. As for Lincoln, he was hiding behind a wall as to not to get spotted. He then took one of his throwing stars with a listening device in it a placed it into the wall to better hear their conversation. "So, this is where we're meeting up tomorrow?" Ronnie Anne questions. "Yeah, this it." The male with the tattoos says. "We're meeting up tomorrow at six for the deal, so don't be late." The female tells Ronnie Anne. 'Deal?' Lincoln thinks to himself.
"Got it. Well, see you guys later." Ronnie Anne tells them as she begins to walk away from them. But as she was walking, she was then grabbed and pulled into a corner. She was about to scream when she was stopped by Lincoln who placed a finger over her lips. Lincoln then checked to see if anyone was looking, and luckily no one was. "Lincoln, what the heck are you doing?!" Ronnie Anne questioned as slapped away his hand from her face. "You tell me, you're the hanging out with gangsters!" Lincoln accused. "Gangsters? Why would you think..." Ronnie Anne began to say but mid-sentence she came to a realization. "You were following me!?" She angrily yelled as she couldn't believe Lincoln would do that.
"You were the one acting weird after school, excuse me for getting curious." Lincoln countered. "And behold my surprise, you're making friends with gang members, and worse part is that you're dragging Sid into this." Lincoln added. "Look lame-o, You don't have any right to barge into my business and you most certainly don't have a right to judge my life! So why don't you just go and leave me alone!" Ronnie Anne angrily yelled. Given the look in her eyes Lincoln knew it was best just to let this go... for now. "Fine, I'll go." Lincoln says as he walked off.
After he was a good distance away Ronnie Anne took out her phone and made a call. "Hey Sid... Yeah, I know the location... I know, but Lincoln saw me and now he has the wrong idea... I'll make sure he doesn't find out... Just make sure to have it ready." Ronnie Anne says over the phone before hanging up.
Back at the Ace Fortress, Lincoln was going over what happened with Lisa. "This is bad Lise, she mixed up with a bad crowd and she might try to drag her friend into it." Lincoln tells Lisa. "This is quite the dilemma, although it's even more confounding that you're so worried over a female that you hardly know." Lisa replies, adding a smirk at the end. "It's not like that Lisa. It's about making sure someone doesn't make the hugest mistake of their life." Lincoln says with a small blush on his cheeks.
"Then do tell me Lincoln, how do you plan on doing that?" Lisa questions. "Simple, while I spying on her conversation I heard they were meeting up tomorrow at six for some kind of deal. I'll show up as Ace Savvy, stop it and hopefully get Ronnie Anne out of the crossfire." Lincoln devised. "It could work. By the way brother, there's something I need to bring to your attention." Lisa informs him. "What is it?" Lincoln asks. "Take a look for yourself." Lisa says as she turns the computer towards Lincoln. "Red and green figure stops a robbery at a local store. Although witnesses didn't get a good look at the mysterious figure who stopped a robbery at a Casagrandes' Bodega, they say the person wore a red and green costume." Lincoln reads.
"When was this?" Lincoln questions. "Just two weeks ago." Lisa informs him. "Hmm, well, I'll investigate that later but right now I need to focus on Ronnie Anne." Lincoln says.
The next day, Lincoln waited outside patiently school waiting on Ronnie Anne. Once he saw her exiting school with Sid he placed a tracking device on the back of her jacket without being notice. After that he went back home. Once home he entered the Ace Fortress, where he and Lisa went over the plan one more time. "I see you were successful placing the tracker device I developed on Ronnie Anne." Lisa assumes. "Yeah, I'm suiting up now so that she doesn't get too far ahead of me." Lincoln replies as he takes his suit out of his display case.
[Insert The Batman:2004 suit up scene]
"Do be careful brother. Your suit won't protect you against bullets from machine guns." Lisa warns. "Copy that, I'm heading out." Ace says as he gets on the Ace-Cycle and rides out of the bunker.
Later we see Lincoln perching on the rooftop near where the signal for Ronnie Anne's tracker was. However she was nowhere in sight, much to Lincoln's confusion. "That's weird, the tracker says I'm in the right spot and yet, no Ronnie Anne." Ace says to himself. He then sees multiple people show up in the backalley below him, so before they could notice, Ace threw a throwing star with a listening device against the wall to hear the conversation.
"So glad you could make it." The boy with tattoos says to the other group's leader. "Of course. Wait, didn't you say you got a new member?" The leader says. "She's running late, but don't worry about it." The tattoos boy says. "Whatever, you got our money?" The leader questions. "Yeah. Do you got our stuff?" The tattoo boy questions. "See for yourself." The leader says as two of his cronies then show off two crates, which they then open to revealing multiple AK-47.
"You seeing Lisa?" Ace asks. "Indeed I do Lincoln. Clearly those guns weren't acquired through legal means." Lisa replies. "I still don't see Ronnie Anne." Lincoln comments. "You'll have to worry her later. You have to stop this transaction." Lisa tells him. "On it." Ace says. He then leaps from the rooftop and into backalley, right in between both groups. "Sorry to burst in on your deal but I'm afraid that these guns aren't for sale." Ace says to all the gangsters. "Get him!" The boy with the tattoos shouts.
They all begin to rush at Ace, who jumps over one of the gangsters and as he does he throws a throwing star at the crate filled with guns. The throwing star then dispenses a wire cable, tying the crate down to the ground and making sure no one could use them. He then charge at the gangster taking them all on. He first knock one back with a kick to the stomach, then he batted away another with a right hook to the face, and then he whack another across the face using one of his Nun-chucks. However, the thugs still outnumbered Ace Savvy and they began to circle him. But just when it seems like things were about to go bad for our hero...
*Wham*
Suddenly out of nowhere, one of the gangsters were drop kicked. Everyone looks to see a tan skinned girl wearing green polymer with black on it's side. She also had green fingerless gloves, red cuff, red boots and a red cape. She wore a red and green stripe headband, a red mask and a black spade logo with a R on the chest.
Everyone was taken back by her sudden appearance, including Ace. But right now, he had these guys to deal with. With the mysterious girl help he manage to take down the rest of the gangsters, with Ace and the mysterious girl even pulling of some combination moves together. After they took down all of the gangsters, Ace and the girl fled to the rooftops to avoid being spotted by the police. After a moment to make sure no one saw them, Ace turned towards the girl. "Alright, who are you?" Ace questioned with a serious tone. "If I wanted you to know, I wouldn't be wearing a mask." The girl retorted.
"Fair point. But seriously who the heck are you?" Lincoln questioned again. "You can call me Roulette Girl." She replied. "By the way Ace, you really should watch where you put these." She says with a smug smirk as she takes out one of his tracking devices. Ace's eyes widen his eyes in surprise. "Where did you get that?" He questions. "A friend of mine named Santiago. She told me about it when I talked to her today." Roulette Girl mentions. "Wait, you know Ronnie Anne?" Ace asks. "Yeah, how do you know her?" Roulette questions with a smirk. "Uh... This kid named Loud told me about her. He was worried that she was a part of that gang and asked me to help." Ace lied. Luckily Roulette Girl seemed to have bought it.
"I guess that explains the tracker, I'll be sure to tell Santiago that her friend was worried about her." Roulette Girl says. "And I'll be sure to tell Loud that there was nothing to worry about." Ace replies. "Well then, I'll be going. See you around?" Roulette Girl asks. "Sure, just be sure to give me a heads up." Ace replied with a smile. Roulette Girl smile as well before grappling to another building.
Later we see Lincoln walking along the street as he was on the phone with Lisa. "Are you sure it's this street Lisa?" Lincoln questions. "For the tenth time, yes. Satellite scan places her house in this neighborhood." Lisa replies. Lincoln continues to walk along the street until he finds who he was looking for. It was Ronnie Anne, who just so happened to be walking on the same street.
"Lincoln? What are you doing here?" Ronnie Anne asks. "Well, I was just in the neighborhood and..." Lincoln trailed off. "Let me guess, you came to say I'm sorry." Ronnie Anne says. "Yeah, I had this friend of mine spy on you after yesterday and he told me that I had nothing to worry about." Lincoln admits. "Well... I'm sorry too. I also had this friend of mine, and she told me about your friend and why he was looking after me. I appreciate the concern." Ronnie Anne says genuinely. "So, are we cool." He says holding out his fist. "Yeah, we're cool." She says giving him a fist bump.
Just then both got an alert on their phones. "Oh, that's my sister/brother. She/He just texted me to tell me to say that they're on their way home from their date with their boyfriend/girlfriend Bobby/Lori." They both say at the same time. "Wait, did you just say Lori/Bobby? How do you know my sister/brother? Wait he's/she's your brother/sister?!" They say simultaneously before beginning to laugh. "Who would of guess." Lincoln says in between laughs. "I know right. Your sister and my brother." Ronnie Anne says while chuckling. A few moments later the laughter died down between the two.
"Well, I better get going Ronnie Anne. Don't want my sisters to get worried about me. See you tomorrow?" Lincoln asks. "Yeah, see you tomorrow lame-o." Ronnie Anne replied. Lincoln began to walk away, just as Sid came out from Ronnie Anne's house and walked up to her. "So, how did it go?" Sid asks. "Pretty good. Had some help from that Savvy guy." Ronnie Anne remarks. "And what about Lincoln? Did he figure out you're you know who?" Sid asks. "Naw, he has no clue. And neither does Savvy." Ronnie Anne replies.
A/N: That's the end for chapter 2. Surprise! Roulette Girl is here in the story early. And right now Lincoln doesn't have a clue who she is. Will he find out soon? What threat will he face next? Will any other hero soon emerge? Find out in chapter 3.
