Disclaimer- I do not own the Walking Dead

fandomsbrokeme- Thank you, it makes me so happy to know that you are loving this story and the changes.

Alwaysand- Ooh, I like that. Thank you. 100%, even though they don't have any hate towards the Dixon family they won't leave Ricks group because it would be too much hassle and cause more problems that they don't want to deal with, but them staying with Ricks group makes things harder on the Dixons group.

shadowoftheblackdeat- Hey, long time no see. I'm so sorry for such a long break between chapters but I got your message and I definitely appreciate it. Some of them have been added to my ideas book for future chapter fillers. Keep them coming, I love them and you.

Enjoy and Review.

Danny's POV

"Do they have enough stuff, formula they need formula". I try to stand but Daryl puts his hands on my shoulders forcing me to stay seated on the bench.

"Merle's already got them formula".

I shake my head, "What about a blanket, nappies? Do they have things they need. I haven't seen what they have".

"It's okay, we'll sort everythin' they need and then we'll go out and get replacements".

"No, we need to do it now". I shrug off his hands and finally manage to stand up. He stands with me, his hands out like he's ready to stop me.

"Danny, please just slow down".

"I'm fine I just need to help them".

"We will help them but you don't need to. You need to rest".

I shake my head, tears pooling in my eyes. "I have to help them". He looks me in the eyes like he's searching for something and then he nods. Its a defeated nod as it's easy to see he still doesn't want me to do anything.

I walk straight over to our car where Merle has already gotten bags out of the back where he was probably searching for the formula. Both he and Carol just watch as I immediately start digging through the bags. I quickly realise these bags are all full of things a baby will need and just zip them back up. They can have the whole lot, everything.

I pick up two of the bags, "Merle, bring that one to".

He looks at the bags and then behind me where I know Daryl is stood, having followed me here.

"Danny! They ain't..."

I ignore him and turn to Carol. "Please".

She smiles sadly and picks up the remaining bag.

I carry the bags into C block. The others are sat around the tables, Maggie has the baby held against her, her face is red where she's been crying. As soon as I step through the door they all look at me. I walk down the steps and drop the two bags at Herschel's feet.

"Take them".

He unzips one of the bags and realises what's inside. "Danny, no."

"You have to have them. We can get more". He still looks at me like he's going to say no. "Please". My voice breaks, I think that's what makes him finally nod his head.

"Thank you".

I try and stops the tears that have gathered from falling but as Carol goes around the table to Maggie with some clothes and nappies in hand I have to look away as a tear escapes. As I take a step towards the exit Daryl grabs my arm, I look at him through blurred vision.

"I need to be alone", he shakes his head slightly. "I'll just sit out front, please just..." Leave me alone is what I want I want to say but I stop myself before saying it, it's too harsh.

"Daryl!" Daryl looks at his brother over his shoulder. "Help us get the Walkers out".

The look on Daryl's face as he looks at me again shows how much he wants to say no but finally he relents and lets go of my arm.

I walk straight back out into the beaming sun and see that once again the courtyard is covered in dead bodies. It was our mistake, we shouldn't have kept them alive, we should have tried harder to stop them getting in and so close to where we live. I sit down on the nearest bench and keep my eyes on the field in front of me.

I don't know how long I sit here for watching as Daryl, Merle, Axel and Oscar bring out the bodies one by one. I know the moment they bring out T-Dog because they're carrying what's left of him on a board covered by a sheet.

I can hear the scuff of shoes against the floor as someone comes up behind me, I turn my head only slightly to see that it's Glenn. He wordlessly sits down next to me and then after a beat he grabs my hand in his and scoots closer.

I look at the side of his face, he looks pretty tired. His eyebrows are pulled down with worry and he looks so much older than he is. I quickly glance around to see if Maggie's about, she isn't.

"You shouldn't be out here with me". He snaps his head towards me. "You should be with Maggie, she needs you more". She was there when it all happened, she's probably the one that had to deliver the baby.

"You're my friend and I want to be here for you. You shouldn't be alone, and she's with Herschel and Beth. They're looking after her for me".

"I'm sorry".

He raises his eyebrows but I carry on before he can say anything. "For everything that has happened. I'm sorry we left, I'm sorry that we couldn't find you and I'm sorry for the fact that our two families no longer get along."

"You have nothing to be sorry for. What happened back at the farm would have happened with or without you. We tried looking for you to but had to give up when we realised it was useless. And it's definitely not your fault that they no longer get along. Rick and the others just want someone to blame and they find it easier to blame those that left even though there wasn't anything you guys could do to change what happened."

I sigh, "But it puts you and Maggie in the middle".

Half his mouth lifts up in a tiny smile. "I don't mind being stuck in the middle. It means I can still call you my friend but also be with those that I spent the Winter with."

"It's still not fair".

"I know but I don't think it will last. We'll find a common ground soon that'll make the atmosphere a little less tense".

"You hope".

He chuckles, "I've got all my fingers and toes crossed."

We lapse into silence, he wraps an arm around my shoulders and forces me to lean into him so I rest my head on his shoulder and close my eyes. I am completely drained.

The smell of burning bodies has me hiding away in D block, our new home. Carol, Sophia and Glenn brought all of our belongings over while Daryl, Merle and the two new guys burned the bodies.

I'm not sure who's keeping an eye on the fire now because all of our growing group is now in here, arguing with Carol.

"...I don't care, you are not coming in here smelling like burnt flesh. I will grab you all a clean set of clothes and you can wash off before coming in. Out". I can't see the look on Carol's face but one by one the four of them turn around and walk back outside, picking up a bucket of water on their way.

I grab some of Daryl's clothes out of his bag along with another set for Axel. Oscar will have to have some of Merles because he's taller and bigger. I grab a couple of flannels and some soap so they wash the smell off their bodies completely. With my arms loaded up I go next door to Carols room.

"Do you have something for Oscar, I don't think Daryl's clothes will fit".

"He always seems to wear the exact same thing, I could give this whole bag of clothes to Oscar and Merle wouldn't even notice they were gone." She pulls some items out of the bag. "These will do. Sophia!".

Sophia's head immediately appears around the door. "Yeah?"

"Will you help Danny take these to the guys, I wanna make us all some food".

Once Sophia takes the stuff we head outside. We place all the stuff onto of a table, I take one set of clothes along with a flannel off the top and hold them out for Axel.

"These are for you".

He grins and hurries forward to take them from me. "Thank you so much, I can't tell you how much I appreciate this. Oh here". He hands me my bat. "Thank you for letting me borrow it. I cleaned it up".

"Thank you", I lay it on the table and grab the clothes and cloth for Oscar. "And these are for you. I hope they're long enough".

He bows his head slightly as he takes them, "they'll be fine, thank you". He then holds out my knife which he has cleaned.

I smile at him. "Thanks". I rest my hand on the last two sets of clothes on the table. "These are yours and here's the soap". I nudge the soap a little closer to Merle. "And I expect you to use it Merle.

He tuts as he grabs it and then sniffs it. "Shit, what the fuck is this?" He turns the bottle over in his hand. "Lavender! Ya gonna have me smellin' like flowers Squirt. What's wrong with my manly smell?"

I pick up my bat and knife, "Your manly smells burns when it hits the inside of my nose so you use it or you can't come back inside". He grunts in response as he grabs up his stuff and walks around the side of the block for some privacy.

Daryl picks up the bucket of water and his stuff. "Better get this to him".

"Don't take too long".

I'm in bed first, Daryl said he was coming but he's taking too long and I'm getting restless. I need him, I need him to hold me and pretend that nothing bad happened today. I push the palms of my hands into my eyes and then the covers are lifting and the mattress shifts. He slides right up to me and pulls me into his arms, his hand rests against the back of my head and he holds it against his collar.

He whispers into my ear.

"I have you".
