"Satoru!" Shoko slammed a hand onto her desk and stood up from her seat, crossing her arms in annoyance. "I knew you had to be behind this- can you control your students for once?"
Satoru Gojo appeared in the doorway, leaning his broad shoulder against the doorframe. He stuffed his hands in the pockets of his Jujutsu uniform with a cocky grin. "Come on, Shoko, your office is always sooo dreary and boring! I figured this was a good way to liven things up!"
"Gojo-sensei." He looked down at the two boys who still remained on the floor, with Fushiguro giving him the evil eye over his shoulder. "Can you tell Kugisaki to get the hell off?"
Nobara huffed and didn't even wait for her teacher's permission, hopping off and stretching her arms high above her head. Both the boys slowly crawled to their feet, with Yuji rubbing the sore part of his head with a quiet "ow…".
"Now then, who do we have here?" Satoru turned his covered gaze towards Qian, who was still gawking at him with wide eyes. She immediately ducked her head in embarrassment.
"O-Oh I'm sorry it's just…" She nervously twisted her fingers together. "...y-you looked really familiar." She whispered to herself, almost inaudibly.
Satoru stared at her in silence, his usual smile tightening upon sensing the absence of any cursed energy radiating off of her. He pushed himself off the frame and walked towards the center of the room, scrutinizing her figure. He definitely did not recognize her, but he noted her stance: hunched shoulders, baggy clothes, large glasses, and dark brown, almost black shoulder-length hair, half of which was tied up in a messy bun. Her green eyes were no longer staring up at him as she kept looking at the floor, her fingers nervously fidgeting the hem of her hoodie. Her head barely reached his chest, though he could not quite make out her exact height since she remained fixated on her feet. Subtly clenching his jaw, he glared at Shoko through his mask.
The doctor pretended not to notice his change in demeanor, instead plopping down in her plush chair with a cheeky smirk. "Well, I suppose an introduction is long overdue but guys, this is Qian Tomioka, she started a couple weeks ago as my assistant. Qian, these guys are Jujutsu Sorcerers. The three here are first-years, and the annoying one there is their teacher."
Satoru opened his mouth in protest to her insult, though it was interrupted by Qian bowing her head deeply. "N-Nice to meet you all! It's been a truly invaluable experience being here, and I really appreciate you letting me work here!"
…Annoying. Satoru shut his jaw as he shifted his stance, planting himself on Shoko's desk, much to her annoyance. He forced a grin as he regarded the girl's anxious form. "It's nice to meet you as wel-"
The pink-haired teen suddenly yanked his hand up in greeting and Satoru, thanks to his fast reflexes, jerked his head to the right to avoid the impact.
"I'm Yuji Itadori! Nice to meet you!" The boy greeted excitedly shortly before being elbowed in the gut by the girl beside him.
"And I'm Nobara Kugisaki," the brown-haired girl jerked a thumb at the other teen, who remained seated on the ground, "and this gloomy guy down here is Megumi Fushiguro."
"I can speak for myself, you know." Megumi smacked her hand away as he stood up straight.
Qian folded her hands together and bowed her head once again. "N-Nice to meet you all!" She exclaimed once more.
Satoru's smile remained, but he gritted his teeth subtly in annoyance as he crossed his arms. You already said that.
Nobara glanced at her watch passively. "Sensei…can we go now? We delivered what we needed right-"
Suddenly, her eyes bulged out of their sockets as she noticed the time. "HOLY CRAP is it already 7?!" Not sparing a second glance, she immediately ran out the door. "See you tomorrow guys! Splendid Sushi closes at 8 and I am NOT MISSING the buffet this time!"
"HUH?! Kugisaki, wait! I want some too!" Yuji grabbed Qian's arm, and she gaped him with wide frightened eyes.
"E-Eh…?"
"Yo, do you like sushi?" He grinned excitedly and Qian inadvertently gave a small nod, not quite understanding the random question.
"SWEET! LET'S GO!" In a whirl of pink, she was suddenly dragged off at inhuman speed out the door.
Megumi meanwhile sighed as both his teammates disappeared. "I'll go keep an eye on them." He muttered, admittedly feeling the grumble of his stomach. He raised a hand dismissively as he left the room. "Goodnight Gojo-sensei, Ieiri-sensei."
"Night!" Shoko called after him, chuckling as she recalled Qian's horrified face the split second she was taken away. She leaned back in the cushions of her chair unpopping the cork to her whiskey bottle before pouring another glass.
As soon as the sound of his footsteps retreated, Satoru's cheerful grin disappeared. A frown marred his chiseled features.
"Shoko…what the hell are you doing?"
The doctor swirled the rim of her glass playfully with her fingers, a knowing smirk forming on her face. "Whatever do you mean?"
Satoru shoved his hands back in his pockets, his back still facing her as he remained seated on her desk. "You know exactly what I mean. Why did you bring her here?"
Shoko sighed heavily and flipped her hair before taking another sip, cognizant of his cruel personality. "She can see curses, and she has a scientific background."
"Bullshit." He pushed himself off the desk and turned around, placing a hand firmly on its edge. He glared at his old schoolmate. "You're only using her because you're too lazy to do any work yourself."
"Now that's not very nice." Shoko scolded, waggling her finger at him teasingly. Upon seeing his expression, she sighed once more in defeat. "Look. You know how crazy things have been lately, and she's a hard worker."
"But she's weak." He snapped, gripping the wood so tightly that it started to crack. She held her head high, knowing his ice-blue eyes were probably shining in fury behind his mask. "You could've found someone, anyone who at least could use cursed techniques and be able to fight or protect themselves. She barely has a drop of cursed energy in her."
Shoko rolled her eyes. "You're being dramatic. She isn't going to just go out there waving a red flag and ask to be attacked. She's actually a smart kid. Besides, isn't that your job, as sorcerers, to protect people?"
"No, our jobs are to get rid of cursed spirits and users to make this world a safe place. And there is a reason why we keep this entire world a secret from humans, to avoid unnecessary distractions and targets being placed on our backs." He looked away as he crossed his arms. "We need strong fighters at Jujutsu High. She's just going to drag us down and be a burden."
Shoko placed her glass down and folded her hands in front of her, regarding him solemnly. "How do you know, you barely even met her?"
"I know her type, and that's enough." He muttered before turning around, taking steps towards the door. "She shouldn't be here."
"I think that's for me to decide, isn't it?" She cradled her cheek in one hand, tapping the glass thoughtfully with the other. "Unless you really want to involve the higher-ups that you so much respect."
Satoru placed a hand on the doorframe, giving her one last glance. "Just make sure she never gets in my way."
