A/N: Well, howdy! CTD chapter 2 is with ilovemyteries, so that will be up in a day or two. I hope to get more written, too. So maybe an extra or so later on in the week. :D

Chapter 13

When Sookie opened her eyes shortly before sunset the next evening, she was looking directly into Eric's. His face was inches away from hers. She was still a mess, but she really did feel so safe with him. No matter how confused he made her feel. And, God, she could use the comfort. He was beautiful and hopefully he could make her forget for a little while. She put her hand on his cheek and closed her eyes. Her stomach flip flopped again right before his lips met hers.

She opened her mouth and deepened the kiss. He rolled on top of her…

She opened her eyes. She was still pressed against Eric's chest. His face was nuzzled into her neck and his hair was tickling her nose. She couldn't feel him at all inside. She was kind of disappointed that it hadn't been real, but she couldn't even keep her eyes open. She drifted back into her rest.

When she rose again, Eric had already gotten up. She closed her eyes and tried to feel the position of the sun, and just couldn't do it. She felt for Eric, and he was nearby. In the attached bath. She felt so damn vulnerable and lonely, and she couldn't even bear to be in a room alone for a few minutes. She hated it. She heard the shower start, and she got up and pushed through the bathroom door. He'd left it ajar. She boosted herself up onto the counter. He smiled at her over the shower door.

"You slept in! The sun just set."

She shrugged. "I woke up through the n… day, I guess. But I went right back to sleep."

His brows creased for just a moment, but then he smiled again and waggled his eyebrows at her. "Care to join me?"

She knew he expected her to say no. The old Sookie would have jumped in in a heartbeat. She wasn't usually the instigator of sex, but she was almost always happy to go with the flow. At least with her guys. Go with the flow was pretty much what she was all about. And she wasn't remotely modest, if he was just talking about getting clean. Hard to be modest when you live in a van with three other people. And after last night, she could use the shower. Crying was so messy now.

The mixed up, lonely, everything-has-changed-and-I'm-not-ok new Sookie was a big old shy and awkward mess. But she had spent almost every minute of the past few days with him. Well, nights. And she'd spent every day since she'd been turned in his arms, except the first one. And a whole lot of the past couple of nights, too. She still felt incredibly safe with him. He wasn't the problem, she was. She needed to get over herself.

She jumped off the counter, pulled off her clothes, opened the shower door, and pushed in behind him. And, holy hell, he had the world's most perfect butt. She kind of wanted to bite it, and her fangs almost snicked down. "You're too damn tall. You're hogging all the water. We need one with a shower head on each end."

Eric grinned. Maybe last night had been a positive, as awful as it had felt at the time. "Oh, excuse me." He switched places with her, and enjoyed the view very much. She was standing under the water with her back to him.

"I'm kind of hungry."

Their bond was unfortunately not quite like a maker-child bond. He could monitor her feelings, but they weren't so... present. And she just never seemed to feel terribly hungry, at least to him, until it was pressing. Another thing to worry about. She hadn't fed at all after being sick last night. "Of course. My day man is bringing blood soon."

She turned around while she was shampooing her hair, and his view improved. "What are we doing tonight?"

"I have placed a call to a fairy I know to maybe get an idea of what we might be dealing with. I am waiting for a call back. And I think that we should do the formal blood exchange with the knife this evening, and then we can get you registered."

That made her think about their first blood exchange. She wished they could do it again with their fangs instead. All of a sudden, she was really hungry. And so fucking horny. She quickly turned back around and got back under the water to try to put the fire out. And rinse out the shampoo.

He felt the hunger and then lust nearly overtake her, followed closely by embarrassment. He didn't want her to retreat from him again. And he was very glad that they were home and she could just help herself to blood when she was hungry. Or maybe sometimes drink from him.

"Sookie?"

She turned to him and he held his hand out to her. She hesitated a long time before she took it and he pulled her to him. He leaned down and kissed her softly, trying to feel how she really wanted him to proceed.

Just as she started to deepen the kiss, his cell phone rang and she stepped away. "That's probably your fairy friend."

Oh, yes. 'Friend'. He would have strangled Niall if he were there in front of him. He got out of the shower, wrapped a towel around his waist, and picked up the phone from the counter. "This is Eric." He didn't sound friendly.

"Eric. This is Niall Brigant. I received a message that you wished to speak to me."

"Niall, I have a new child, and I believe that she is a fairy hybrid. I was hoping that you could give me an idea of what we were in for."

There was a long pause. "Why do you think she is part fae?" He sounded wary. And on the verge of being quite angry.

Eric leaned against the counter. "She does not behave like a typical vampire in many ways. She smells and tastes very sweet, and like sunshine. She seems to drift between death and sleep throughout the day and rises early. She dreams. She has remarkable control. She is a telepath…"

Niall cut him off, and he was no longer on the verge of anger. He was very much already there. "Northman, who did you turn?"

Eric walked into the bedroom and sat on the bed. "Her name is Sookie Stackhouse."

Niall's voice was hard and cold. "You are a dead man, Northman." As if that were anything new.

Sookie came in wrapped in a towel and sat down next to him. He leaned down and kissed her head before he sighed into the phone. "This is not the official story, but it is what really happened. Sookie was a runaway in New Orleans. Pam met her at a rave last Sunday night, and Sookie agreed to go with her for sex. Sookie had taken drugs that somehow made her… essence… much more powerful. The smell of fairy was all over the hotel room, and Sookie's companions confirmed that it was how she always smelled after taking MDMA. They are young Weres who have never met a fairy. I think Pam must have lost control, but I can't know for sure. She met her final death minutes later. I found Sookie just after she rose while trying to figure out what happened to Pam. We somehow shared a bond, right from the beginning. For her protection, I am claiming her as my own. Nobody other than you, her Weres, their pack master, and my friend William know that she wasn't turned by me. I mean to keep it that way. I trust them not to talk."

"I need to see her."

"What is your interest here, Fairy?"

There was another long pause. So long that Eric thought that Niall might have hung up. Even his breathing made no sound. "She is my great-granddaughter. Fintan was her father's father."

Eric closed his eyes. A seventeen year old homeless runaway orphaned telepathic fairy hybrid newborn vampire with very strange attachments to Weres from two different packs. And she was the great-granddaughter of the fucking prince of the fairies.

"Be that as it may, she is Vampire and she is mine."

Sookie scooted closer to him, and he put his arm around her.

Niall took a long time to answer again. "When can we meet?"

"I don't know. Do I have your word that no harm will come to either of us? And that no one will attempt to remove us or separate us in any way?"

"Yes, of course."

"Fine. Tomorrow night?"

"Yes. Midnight? At your warehouse in Shreveport?"

"We will see you then."

Eric snapped his phone closed and just sat for a moment, thinking.

"My father's father's name was Mitchell Stackhouse. I loved him a lot."

Eric sighed. "I don't know. Maybe he's wrong about that, but you are almost certainly part fairy."

"Do I have to meet him?"

"You don't want to?"

She shrugged.

"We do need answers, Sookie. And he is telling the truth. You will be safe. They are sneaky and deceptive, but fairies can't lie."

"Ok."

She felt lost. He squeezed her a little tighter and kissed her head again. She said, "I guess I need to go get dressed."

She started to get up, but he put his hand on her arm. "Sookie. Wait."

With his other hand, he tilted up her chin until she was looking into his eyes. He leaned over and kissed her lightly and then smiled at her. "Everything will be ok."

She nodded, but she didn't look convinced. And felt even less so. After she went upstairs, he sighed, got dressed, and followed her.

She came out of the bedroom, and he offered her his hand again. She didn't hesitate this time, and they walked into the living room.

"Bobby hasn't arrived yet. Would you like some of my blood to tide you over?"

She was getting very hungry. And, she was a little afraid that she might just attack Bobby when he arrived. But this terrified her. She wanted it - and him - so badly.

He could tell that all of the confidence from the shower had just deserted her. He sat in an armchair and pulled her into his lap. "Sookie, you are very hungry now. Please. Feed." She was going to feel how hard she made him, and he might even lose control and stain his jeans, but she did need to feed. Badly. And she needed the reassurance. And, if it made her aroused again, and if something were to happen, then so be it. He certainly wouldn't mind.

She wanted to straddle him, and thought it would be easiest, but she couldn't get up the nerve. She stayed sitting sideways in his lap and leaned over and licked his neck. Even his skin was delicious. She bit him, and they both moaned. She swallowed five mouthfuls and then licked his neck again and pulled away. He looked at her, and their eyes, full of heat, locked. She started leaning towards him and closed her eyes when Bobby unlocked the door in the kitchen and walked into the room.

Sookie shut down again, and Eric tried to keep himself from murdering his day man. And then her mood went from bad to worse, and she scrambled to her feet and slapped Bobby's face. "Fuck you, asshole." She ran back into the room that was sort of hers and slammed the door.

Eric glared. "What in the fuck were you thinking?"

"I didn't do anything! I have no idea what that chick's problem is, Master. I swear!"

"That was not just 'that chick', you idiot. That was my new child."

Bobby blanched. "I… I didn't even know she was a vampire. I couldn't tell. I'm so sor…"

Eric cut him off. "What in the fuck did you think about? She can read minds, for fuck's sakes."

Bobby turned as white as a vampire. "M-m-master. I d-didn't..."

"Shut the fuck up, do what you need to do, put the blood in the fridge, and get the fuck out. From now on, you will respect her the same way you did Pam. Do you understand?"

"Yes, Master." He just stood there for a moment, shifting from foot to foot.

"What?"

Bobby swallowed. "Did something happen to Pam?"

He got a pain in his chest, but he would not cry. "Yes. She met her final death a week ago."

"Master, I'm so sorry…"

"As am I. Now get your shit taken care of and leave."

"Of course."

Eric knocked on the bedroom door before opening it. Sookie was lying on the bed, curled up in a ball. Eric sat down next to her.

"I am sorry for my day man. What did he think?"

"He thought that I was hot and had nice boobs. And that, based on my clothes, I was a poor as dirt white trash bimbo trying to fleece you for everything you have. He was appalled that you brought me to your house. He resented me because he thought that I was still human, and he was no longer the only one allowed to come here. He also thought that I'm not good enough for you and that I must be damn good in bed for you to even give me the time of day."

He lay down behind her and bundled her into his arms. "He is an idiot. Do you want me to kill him?"

"No! Of course not. I just want him to go to hell. Eventually."

He kissed behind her ear. His body was moulded to her back, pretty much from head to heel. It made her feel better.

"Right now he's in the kitchen thinking that you didn't waste any time replacing Pam, and that you found a really poor substitute."

He growled.

"It's ok. He can't know about what really happened. I just thought I'd left that shit all behind me. Believe me, I knew all about what people thought of me and Mama back in Bon Temps. But in New Orleans, I was just Sunshine. I was accepted, and liked, and when uppity people thought nasty things about me, I was mostly able to just ignore it. But it didn't happen a whole lot. I guess maybe I'm just a little sensitive right now."

"Of course. You have gone through a lot this past week."

He felt her shrug.

"You did not slap him very hard." He was very concerned that she didn't have vampire strength. And she was already so vulnerable.

She shrugged again. "I can feel how strong I am. I did it on purpose. I didn't really want to hurt him."

"I will teach you to fight. You need to be able to defend yourself.

"Ok."

She snuggled closer to him. "He's leaving. He wants to apologise again - well, grovel - but he's too scared."

"Good." His cock was hard as a rock, and it was snugged against her bottom. She didn't seem to mind, and fuck knows he didn't, either.

They just lay there for a few minutes. Then Sookie said, "Were you like this with Pam?"

"No. But Pam took to her new existence right away. She was not happy in her human life and didn't require much in the way of comfort. And I showed her affection in other ways. Often. But that part of our relationship ended more than one hundred years ago. It is the way of vampires."

He kissed her head again, got up, and offered her his hand. "Come. We can feed and then we will exchange blood. And then you will be officially mine." He hoped that she would find drinking from the cup arousing as well, even though some of the blood that she'd drink would be hers. And maybe there would be a mutual exchange later tonight.

They went into the kitchen and Eric warmed some blood for each of them and they fed. She was feeling less anxious, and he could tell that she wanted him. She kept looking at him through her eyelashes, and his stomach clenched in anticipation. He went into his study and got the goblet and the velvet bag with the knife from the drawer. She was following along behind him. He put the goblet on the corner of the desk and took the knife from the bag. "Give me your hand, Sookie."

"You are my child and I am your maker."

He held her hand over the goblet and sliced her wrist and then his. Their eyes locked again as their blood ran, slow and thick, into the cup. When the wounds closed, he took a drink and then handed the goblet to her. She drank the rest.

"You are mine."

He looked so serious. And she felt something shift a little in her chest.

"Sookie, I want you very much."

Her stomach did that stupid flip flopping thing again, and she throbbed between her legs. She wanted him, too. So much. She picked up his hand and licked the blood from his wrist as she stared into his eyes.

It took everything he had not to push everything off the desk and spread her out on top and fuck her hard until dawn. But he needed to be gentle because she needed to be cared for. He scooped her up and carried her downstairs and laid her gently on the bed. He lay down next to her and kissed her lightly again. She deepened it immediately, and they kissed for a long time.

She pulled away, sat up and pulled off her shirt. She wasn't wearing a bra. She lay back down, and he kissed her again and touched her breast, stroking her nipple with his thumb. She was beautiful and his.

She pulled away again. "No monogamy, right?"

"Of course, Sookie."

She slid down her cutoffs and panties and then kissed him again. He quickly got himself undressed and then lay next to her so they were touching, skin to skin, pretty much all the way down and they kissed some more. He rolled her onto her back and nipped her earlobe and sucked on it and then darted his tongue in her ear. He kissed her neck and scraped his teeth along her throat and gave it a sucking bite, making her moan. He could smell her arousal, and it smelled sweet, like honey. And he remembered that her Were had said that she smells like honey and sunshine. He had to agree.

Her breasts were incredible, and he sucked her nipple into his mouth while he lightly pinched and tugged the other. He kissed down her abdomen and paused to run his tongue around the rim of her belly button.

He kissed lower until he was between her legs. He kissed her there first, and then licked, and Sookie was already halfway to cumming. Everything was so sensitive, and he was so damn good at that. He was flicking his tongue so fast on her clit, and doing something amazing with his fingers inside of her. Her guys were good, but this was some next level sex.

"Oh my God!" She came hard, and then he crawled back up her body to kiss her some more. They were delicious, and Eric was an incredible kisser, and her want turned to need. She wrapped legs around his hips and Eric slid inside her. He took his time, making love to her slowly. He pulled his mouth away from hers and looked into her eyes. It was so intense, and she felt completely exposed. She was relieved when he asked her to bite him, because surely that was less personal than baring her entire soul to him. And she was glad because she wanted to bite him and be bitten by him, too. She bit his shoulder and he bit her neck, and she had been wrong. She was more laid bare now than ever before. But, fuck, it felt amazing. More than amazing. Transformative.

After, lying in his arms, she realized that he was pretty much her whole world now. And it was absolutely terrifying, especially because part of her wanted him to be. She was just so messed up. She was Sookie again, not Sunshine, and she hated it. She was back in Northern Louisiana, hundreds of miles away from her wolves, and she hated that, too. She was a vampire and a fairy. What she wasn't was herself. She felt like she was losing who she was.

Eric had hoped that being his, in every way, would reassure her and help her to settle in. Instead, she was about to spiral out of control. Again. He stroked her hair.

"Tomorrow we will get you a cell phone before we have to meet with Niall. You'll be able to call your wolves whenever you like."

She smiled up at him, and she really did light up a room. Especially now that she glowed a little. He lied to himself and thought that he really wasn't jealous at all. And that it was perfectly normal to feel this way about a new child. Especially when she was so fragile and he was grieving the loss of another.
