It was supposed to be a simple training mission for Midoriya, just a simple search, and rescue scenario, so why did it all go down the drain so quickly turning it from training into an actual rescue mission. How did the League of Villains find them so fast? They were supposed to be safe, but how did they find them?
Those answers would have to come later; first Midoriya has to find the civilians and get them to safety before Dabi's flames burned the training center to the ground. As he made his approach he could feel the heat of the flames slowly approaching him from behind, he had to hurry time was against him, Midoriya could see them, he could almost reach them. With a whine and a deep crack that Midoriya could feel, as much as hear, one of the trees fell, its burning corpse about to fall on top of the hero in training, he could hear the flames, their roar was deep as the tree fell towards him making sure he could feel the flames heat bearing down on him right up until… With a whoosh Midoriya was saved in the nick of time by a dark purple blur, "You have guts kid," he heard a deep voice growl out, "but that kind of guts is going to get you killed."
With his vision fading in and out Midoriya could barely make out who saved him, he could only muster up the strength to reach out toward the civilians that he was trying to save, "Don't worry about them," the voice said again, "The firemen will get them, first you need to recover." The stranger's voice sounded concerned, well almost were it not for the growl and the wind, soon all he heard was the echo of footsteps on steel before being set down on hard concrete.
Midoriya looked up at the figure as his vision started to return, was this being bandaging his head, he only winced in pain as he felt the cloth tighten, "There you should be stable for now," the being said. Midoriya got a good look at him, a man, if he could be called that, cloaked in black with a mask in the shape of a wolf's maw, grey fur and hair showing with a dark grey horn poking out of the middle of the head. Midoriya could feel the being's deep yellow orbs burning a hole right down to his soul, was he related to Hound Dog? No, Hound Dog was one of the councilors of the school and Midoriya would know through his own research if Hound had a long-lost sibling, right?
"You know its impolite to stare kid," the being said with the same growling undertone, it snapped Midoriya to attention, he had so many questions he wanted to ask but right now they would have to wait, "I need to get back to my classmates," he stammered out trying to get to his feet only to be pushed back down.
"With an injury like that? I do not think so."
"You don't understand sir, I have to see if they are alright and they need to know if I am ok."
"Fire is still raging out there and you have a mild concussion. Sorry kid but you need to wait until the flames are out and those creeps are gone."
Midoriya was not having it, he spent all his time training to be a hero and he would not want to waste it with this being, "Listen I need to help them." His statement earned him a chuckle from the being in front of him, he didn't notice at first but he could see what looked like a jet black knife in the being's hands, did it look like a flute? That was odd even for him and Midoriya had seen Bakugo wear a maid outfit and call him "master-kun" after losing a dare, "And how do you purpose you are going to do that? If you leave you will pass out from the concussion."
"I don't care, as a future hero it's my duty to help my comrades and save people with a smile."
The being stared at Midoriya perplexed, he had heart, reminding him of a friend he lost to time, centuries ago, "You have spirit kid, you almost remind me of a friend I once knew," the being's words cut deep into Midoriya, they didn't sting but instead they filled him with curiosity, what did this being mean?
"You want to help your friends, so did my friend, in a way he helped me become the org I am today. A lone wolf on the road to redemption, to atone for the sins in my three thousand years of life," Midoriya flinched at his words. He didn't have time to ask when the being continued, "I will let you go but you will need something to aid you, but this choice comes with a heavy price."
"If it means I can help my friends and the people upstairs then I gladly accept it."
"You know not of what you are deciding kid," the org said his growl deepening, "should you take on my mask and mantle you will endure a lifetime of pain and an even greater burden upon your spirit." Midoriya stood tall looking the org deep into its yellow eyes, "I will take on any challenge if it means protecting the innocent from villains." The org sigh heavily and rubbed the bridge of his nose, before he could say something else to try and dissuade the kid from taking on his cursed mask he saw something sitting on a rusty barrel, a checkerboard top hat that seemed very out of place in any timeline. If his mask could display emotions then it would show him smiling, he knew that odd hat anywhere. He turned to look at Midoriya, "Very well kid you have convinced me," before Midoriya could say anything further or even ask what he meant he watched as the org took his mask off and watched it transform into something more his size as the org handed it to him, " Wear my mask and you and I will become one." Midoriya did not waste time; he willingly put the mask of Zen Aku on his face and made his way back upstairs becoming a dark purple blur.
