It was summer vacation and Oliver was looking at himself in the mirror. He wanted to make sure he looked good because this was his and Felicity's first date. It had been a week since the last day of their junior year and they were finally going on their first date. He was going to take her out to eat and then they were going to catch a movie. It was going to be a nice simple date. Oliver had put on a nice pair of jeans a button down shirt and a leather jacket. He made sure his hair was perfectly gelled and checked his breath He had changed like four times though he would never admit that. He wanted to make sure everything was perfect for their first date. Normally he didn't do this. Normally he was all about sleeping with girls but Felicity was different he really liked her and wanted to treat her the way she deserved to be treated. Oliver took a deep breath. Here goes nothing. He walked downstairs and saw his mother.

"Have fun on your date" Moira said.

"I will. Bye mom" he said leaving the house.

At the Lance house Donna, Laurel and Sara were all helping Felicity get ready for her date. Laurel was handling finding Felicity a dress, Sara was handling makeup and Donna was doing her hair.

"This is so exciting. My baby's got her first date" Donna said.

Felicity rolled her eyes. "Mom it's not that big of a deal. It's just a date" she said.

"Between you and the guy who you've happened to have a crush on since you first met him two years ago who also happens to be the most popular guy in our high school. This is like stuff that only happens in the movies" Sara said.

"I got it. The perfect dress" Laurel said walking over to her sister's and step mother with a red dress in her hand.

"You're going to look so beautiful. I'm just happy I was here to help you before I leave for college in the fall" she said.

Felicity took her hand. "I'm going to miss you" she said.

Donna nodded. "We all are" she said.

Sara shrugged. "I'm going to miss raiding your closet" she said. They all laughed.

Quentin walked into the room. "What's going on in here" he asked.

Donna smiled at him and walked over and gave him a quick kiss.

"Felicity's got a date" she answered.

Quentin looked over at the chair Felicity was sitting in where Sara was doing her makeup.

"Really. Who's the lucky guy" Quentin asked.

"Oliver Queen" Donna answered.

Quentin felt his whole world shattering. He knew of Queen's reputation and he definitely didn't want him taking advantage of one of his daughters. He was already dealing with that Merlyn kid possibly having a thing for Laurel and being around all the time. "Honey wouldn't you rather stay home and study or something" Quentin asked.

"I already got all my homework done dad. Besides I don't think mom, Laurel or Sara would let me stay home" Felicity said.

They all nodded in agreement. "Yea dad there's no way Felicity is missing this date" Laurel said.

"Yea I'm almost done and Oliver is almost here" Sara said. Quentin sighed. Did his girls have to grow up so fast?

Oliver pulled up outside the Lance house. He checked himself in the car mirror one more time. His hair was still perfectly gelled. He checked his breath before he got out of the car. All good. He got out of the car making sure to take the flowers he brought for Felicity before he arrived. It said on google that giving a girl flowers was a good thing to do on a date so he picked up a bouquet of roses for her. He had looked up some first date tips on google. He wanted to make sure this date was perfect. He didn't know why he was so nervous. He was going on a date with the most beautiful girl he'd ever seen and he really liked her so what could go wrong? He took a deep breath and walked up to the house. He rang the doorbell. Quentin answered the door and glared at him. Oliver had to admit he was kind of intimidating.

"Hello sir I'm here for Felicity" Oliver said nervously.

Quentin just stared at him. After about a minute a big smile appeared on his face. "Oliver Queen come in" Quentin said.

Oliver walked in and Quentin closed the door behind him.

"Felicity will be right down. This gives us time to talk" Quentin said grabbing Oliver by the shoulders. He led Oliver down into the basement. "Tell me Oliver has Felicity told you what I do for a living" Quentin asked.

Oliver nodded. "She said you're a cop who works for the SCPD" he answered. Quentin nodded.

"Exactly. So you know I can make someone disappear and never be found right Oliver" he said expectantly.

Oliver nodded again. "Yes sir" Oliver said nervously.

"Just so we're clear I have three rules when you are out with my daughter. First don't do anything to hurt my little girl or I will hurt you. Second no funny business. Felicity has a bright future ahead of her and I will not let some boy derail that by getting her pregnant. Third and this is the most important rule, make sure she is back in this house by 10 not a minute later. Do you understand" Quentin asked.

"Yes sir and you don't have to worry I will make sure to follow all of those rules" Oliver said.

Quentin just stared at him. "Get upstairs. Felicity should be coming down soon" he said. Oliver nodded thankful this conversation was over.

"Yes sir" he said as he started walking up the stairs.

"Oliver" Quentin called. Oliver stopped in his tracks and turned to look at Quentin.

"Yes sir" Oliver said.

"Stop with the sir stuff. Call me Mr. Lance" Quentin said. Oliver nodded again.

"Yes sir…. I mean Mr. Lance" he said. He walked up to stairs and let out a sigh of relief. He survived his first run in with Felicity's father. Oliver knew he didn't like him much or the fact that he was taking his daughter out on a date and Oliver couldn't blame him. If his daughter ever dated a guy like him he would probably threaten to kill the guy and dispose of his body too. Oliver decided to go wait by the front door. Laurel and Sara came down the stairs with Donna behind them.

"You must be Oliver Queen. I'm Donna Lance. Obviously you know Laurel and Sara. Have you had the opportunity to meet my husband" Donna asked. Before Oliver could answer, Quentin came back up from downstairs.

"We already met" he said coming over and wrapping an arm around his wife. Laurel and Sara looked at Oliver's nervous face and laughed. Sara leaned over to him.

"Don't worry he gives the same speech to all the boyfriends" she said. Oliver nodded. Felicity came into view and Oliver stopped breathing for a second. She normally was the most beautiful girl he'd ever seen but right now she was drop dead gorgeous. She was wearing a beautiful red dress that showed off her body amazingly. Her hair was down. She wasn't wearing glasses and she had the most beautiful smile on her face. Oliver really was the luckiest guy on the planet. It took a minute for Oliver to find his voice again.

"You look beautiful" he said.

"Thank you" Felicity said.

"These are for you" he said giving her the flowers. Felicity said bye to everyone and her and Oliver left the house.

Oliver and Felicity arrived at a fancy restaurant. They were seated almost immediately.

"Wow this is really nice" Felicity said. Oliver looked at her nervously.

"Is it too nice? Google said to take your date to a nice restaurant but I guess this is too fancy for a first date. I'll find another one" Oliver babbled nervously taking out his phone. Felicity grabbed his hand.

"It's fine. This is perfect" she said smiling at Oliver. They ordered their food, laughed and talked about their lives. Their food arrived and they started eating.

"So your dads kind of intense" Oliver said. Felicity gave him an apologetic look.

"I'm sorry if he scared you with his talk he had with you and his rules. So embarrassing" Felicity said. Oliver shook his head.

"I get it. If I had a daughter as beautiful and special as you who was going on a date with some boy with the same reputation as me I would probably react the same way" he said. Felicity smiled at Oliver shyly.

"Quentin isn't my biological dad by the way" Felicity said.

"He isn't? I just thought he was because Laurel and Sara have never referred to you as their stepsister and you've never referred to them that way" Oliver said. Felicity shook her head.

"That's because they're the only family I've known. My biological dad left me and my mother when I was 2. I don't even remember him. I guess being a criminal is a more fulfilling life than actually being a father. My mother met Quentin when I was 3. They married soon after. He immediately adopted me and he's always been there. He never treated me like I was his step daughter. He treated me how he did Laurel and Sara. He took me to every science fair when I was younger and he would always make sure I was fine and tucked in at night and always say goodnight. He's been there every time I was sick or when I just needed someone. He basically is my father in every way except blood" Felicity said.

"I think that's amazing" Oliver said. Felicity nodded.

"Laurel and Sara have been great to. They always treated me and my mom well. They never treated us like we weren't part of the family" Felicity said.

"You guys seem like a pretty close family" Oliver said.

"We are. So tell me about your family" Felicity said.

"Well there's mom who is amazing. She can be very scary when she's mad but she's always been there for me and Thea. Dad works a lot but he's pretty cool and easy to talk to. Then there's Thea, my little sister, whose 7, she's cool and we are very close. My nickname for her is speedy because I can never catch her when I'm chasing after her. Last but not least Raisa is our housekeeper but she's been with us for so long that she's like family" Oliver said.

"They sound really great" Felicity said. Oliver nodded his head.

"They are" he said. Their food came and they ate while talking about their lives and their interests both slowly falling in love with the other as time passed by.

They arrived at the movie theatre and couldn't agree on what movie they wanted to see. Felicity wanted to see some cheesy romance movie and Oliver wanted to see a horror movie mostly because Felicity would get scared and he would be right there for her to lean on. After about 15 minutes of debating on which movie to see, they decided to go for the romance movie. Oliver figured he would win some boyfriend points for letting Felicity win this debate. Plus when Felicity cried she could cry into his shoulder. They got their popcorn and soda and walked into the theatre and sat in the middle row. As they were sitting down Oliver saw a couple making out behind them. He leaned over to Felicity.

"Let's go to the back" he said. Felicity looked at him confused.

"Why? What's wrong with these seats" she asked. Oliver motioned to the couple behind them. Felicity looked behind her and it clicked. She playfully slapped his chest.

"We definitely will not be doing that in a crowded movie theatre" she said.

Like Oliver thought Felicity started to cry by the end of the movie and leaned her head on his shoulder. Oliver was driving Felicity home trying to be on time for the curfew. They were about 20 minutes away with 15 minutes before 10. Oliver was driving as fast as he could. He definitely didn't want to test Felicity's father especially not on their first date. Felicity looked over to Oliver.

"You can slow down. My father didn't actually mean what he said" she said. Oliver shook his head.

"I'm not testing it" he said. They got to Felicity's house with two minutes to spare. Oliver let out a sigh of relief.

"I'm safe" he said. Felicity just laughed at him.

"I had fun. It was a good date you did good" she said. Oliver took her hand and kissed it.

"The best part was that I was with you" he said. Felicity smiled.

"How about you give me a real kiss goodnight" she said. Oliver smiled back cockily.

"Well Miss Lance get ready to have the best goodnight kiss you've ever had" he said kissing her. They kissed passionately forgetting that they were outside Felicity's house and her curfew.

A banging on Felicity's window made them both jump and stop. It was Quentin. Crap, Oliver thought. He was a dead man. Felicity rolled down the window.

"Hi dad" she said. Quentin tapped his watch. Felicity turned to Oliver.

"I got to go" she said getting out of the car and walking up to the house. Quentin got into the car and closed the door.

"Drive" he said. Oliver wasn't sure this was a good idea.

"You know I've got to get home. I've got a big…" Oliver started but Quentin just turned to him and looked at him seriously.

"Drive" he said again. Oliver figured he should do as he was told. So he started driving.

"Where are we going" Oliver asked.

"Mr. Queen I thought I made myself perfectly clear" Quentin said ignoring his question.

"I can explain" Oliver started to say but Quentin interrupted him.

"You broke rule number 2. No funny business and you did it in front of my house. I can't decide if that was stupid or ballsy" Quentin said. Oliver shook his head.

"It wasn't like that honestly" Oliver said.

"Don't worry Mr. Queen. I'm not going to hurt you. I just wanted to talk to you without Felicity hearing. I will have this conversation with her when I get home" Quentin said. Oliver let out a sigh of relief. Maybe Quentin wasn't as mad as Oliver thought.

"Where are we going" Oliver asked again.

"Take a left here" Quentin said not answering Oliver's question. Oliver did as he was told.

"So Mr. Queen about what I saw you breaking one of my rules" Quentin said.

"I promise it will never happen again sir" Oliver said. Quentin glared at him.

"Mr. Lance sorry I forgot" Oliver said.

"So anyway I take my rules very seriously and when one of them is broken there has to be a consequence" Quentin said. Oliver shook his head.

"Don't punish Felicity. It wasn't her fault. It was all my fault" Oliver said.

"Take a right here" Quentin said. Oliver did as he was told. "I know it wasn't Felicity's fault and your right it will not happen again because you are not going to see my daughter again" Quentin said.

Oliver slammed on the brakes. "What does that mean" he asked.

"It means you and Felicity will not be seeing each other for the foreseeable future until I decide you can. Drive" Quentin said. Oliver started driving again.

"You can't do that" he said. Quentin shook his head.

"I most certainly can. In life when you break rules there are consequences not that you would know anything about that" he said. Oliver was getting mad.

"You're doing this over a stupid meaningless rule. Do you know how stupid that sounds" he asked.

"Following someone's rules is a sign of respect and the display tonight shows you have none" Quentin said.

"It was just a kiss goodnight" Oliver said.

"Well I hope that kiss was worth it because you will not see or hear from Felicity until I decide you can. Park the car" Quentin said. Oliver did as he was told. He saw they were outside the police station. Quentin went to get out of the car but Oliver stopped him.

"What do you mean by I won't hear from Felicity" he asked.

"I mean she will not be able to contact you. Her phone, computer all her electronic devices she could use to contact you will be monitored. If you try to contact her I'll know also. Felicity might be a good hacker but trust me there are ways to prevent her from hacking in and contacting you" Quentin said. Oliver shook his head.

"This isn't fair" he said. Quentin closed the door and looked Oliver in the eyes.

"What's not fair is boys like you and Merlyn coming and trying to use my daughters" Quentin said.

"I'm not trying to use Felicity for anything" Oliver said. Quentin snorted.

"I heard about your reputation Mr. Queen. How you sleep with at least 10 girls in one week. How you'll date a girl but then screw around with her friends. Felicity will not just be another one of the girls you just drag along until your tired of her. She deserves better than that" Quentin said. Oliver nodded.

"I agree and I'm not playing her or anything I really like her" he said.

"I'm sure you do just like I'm sure you liked all the other girls who you charmed into believing they were special and they were the only ones in your life. Felicity may have fallen for your charms but they don't work on me. You're not going to see my daughter again. Just move on to your next fling" Quentin said.

"I won't let you do this" Oliver said. Quentin laughed.

"There's nothing you can do. Daddy can't throw money at this problem and fix it" he said opening the door again.

"I'll figure out something. Me and Felicity are going to be together no matter what you or anyone else says" Oliver said. Quentin turned to Oliver.

"If you come near my daughter again I will arrest you" he said. Oliver shook his head.

"You can't arrest me just for going near Felicity" he said. Quentin nodded.

"No I can't but with your record I can bring up any of the old charges daddy paid to have forgotten. Don't test me Mr. Queen. Stay away from Felicity and move on. Wait here I have some files to get" Quentin said getting out of the car. Oliver just stared in disbelief. How did this night go from being the best night of his life to the worst? He was about to lose Felicity forever and they just barely started dating.
