Oliver, Felicity Laurel and Sara sat in the waiting room of the Gotham medical facility waiting for any news on Lucius. Felicity felt horrible about this whole thing. The only reason Lucious was there was because of her. If it hadn't been for her he wouldn't of had been shot. Oliver, Laurel and Sara tried to convince her otherwise but she wouldn't listen. With this and the fact that her inventions were being used for bad purposes she blamed herself. The doctor finally came out telling them that Lucious was out of surgery. The doctor came out to the waiting room. "Anyone here for Lucius Fox" the doctor asked.
Oliver, Felicity, Laurel and Sara all stood up. "How is he" Felicity asked walking up to the doctor.
"He's out of surgery. He'll be just fine" the doctor said.
"Can we see him" Felicity asked.
The doctor shook his head. "That's not advisable. He's resting right now" he said.
"Please he has no one" Felicity said.
"Mr. Wayne is on his way. He'll be here when he wakes up" the doctor said.
The drive back to Star City was quiet. No one really spoke. Felicity wanted to stay but Laurel said she had to get back home to Becca. Since Bruce was on his way Felicity relented and agreed to go back to Star City. She had a business to run after all. Oliver had dropped off Laurel and Sara leaving just him and Felicity in the car. Oliver pulled over to the side of the road and shut the car off. "Oliver what are you doing? Smoakin' Lance tech is still blocks away" Felicity said.
"We're going to talk. What happened to Lucius isn't your fault" he said.
Felicity shook her head. "Oliver I really don't want to talk about…" Felicity started but Oliver interrupted her.
"I promised to try to be more open with you now it's your turn. Something's been bothering you the last couple of days and I haven't really pushed the issue because I didn't want you to get mad but you know what maybe I should have. So what's wrong" Oliver asked. Felicity didn't look at him and instead looked out the window. Oliver took her hand in his.
"Please talk to me. I want to help" Oliver said.
Felicity let out a sigh and turned to him. "I'm a bad person and deserve to be locked up" Felicity said.
Oliver looked at her shocked. "What are you talking about" he asked.
"My inventions are hurting people Oliver. All I wanted to do was help people. The crown which was created to help people with disabilities was a failure and almost killed a man, my smoke detectors which were supposed to be able to alert the fire company immediately to a fire were used to create fires and now Lucius is in the hospital because I tried to get a stupid medicine that I was planning to use" she said.
"To help old people fight diseases that hinder them in life. That's not something a bad person would do" Oliver said.
Felicity shook her head. "I am just as responsible for all the bad things people have done with my inventions as they are. I created them" she said.
Oliver shook his head. "You can't blame yourself for other people's actions" he said.
"If I didn't create those inventions all those people who have died or been seriously hurt would be OK right now" Felicity said.
Oliver shook his head. "Those criminals would have just found another way to hurt people. You're intentions are good. You're the best person I know" Oliver said smiling at his girlfriend.
Felicity smiled back. "You really think so" she asked.
Oliver shook his head. "I don't think so. I know so. So those inventions didn't work out. It's unfortunate for the people who got hurt but I have no doubt you will create something bigger and better that will help so many more people. Your amazing and the best person I know. There is not an evil or bad bone in your body" he said.
Felicity leaned over and kissed him. He kissed her back. When they pulled away Felicity looked at Oliver. "Your turn. We never talked about how you felt after you visited your father's grave" she said.
Oliver thought for a moment. "I felt like a big weight was lifted off my shoulders" Oliver said.
Oliver drove Felicity to work and walked in with her, holding her hand. He looked around the office and saw all of the amazing inventions that were being created. He was really impressed. She had created this from the ground up. He always knew she was going to do amazing things. "Felicity, thank god your back. Now you can make all these decisions" Tommy said handing Felicity a bunch of files.
Felicity laughed. "Well looks like the place is still standing" she said.
Tommy nodded. "Just barely. You know when I agreed to take this job I thought I would be doing simpler things as your office manager like sorting through your files or organizing you're office not running the whole place" Tommy said.
Felicity smiled at him. "Well I'm back now. Thank you Tommy" Felicity said.
"Of course. Since your back now and everything I'm going to go on lunch" he said.
Felicity nodded. "That sounds good" she said.
Oliver patted Tommy's shoulder. "I have something I want to show you" he said to his friend.
Oliver said bye to Felicity and him and Tommy got into the car Diggle was driving. Oliver directed Diggle to take them to the old Queen factory. They arrived and Oliver walked Tommy and Diggle inside. "What do you think? Great spot for a nightclub or what" he asked as Tommy and Diggle followed him inside.
"Sweet though I got to tell you man if your thinking of calling it Queen's I don't think you're going to get the clientele you were hoping for" Tommy said as he looked around the abandoned factory.
"Private office" Oliver said pointing to the corner of the factory.
"For the private one on one meetings I would imagine" Tommy said looking over at the corner Oliver was pointing at and lightly tapping Oliver's chest. Oliver gave Tommy a stern look. "I was joking. I know you and Felicity are basically married speaking of which" Tommy said leaning in close to Oliver's ear so Diggle couldn't hear. "When are you going to propose" Tommy whispered.
Oliver rolled his eyes. "Let's talk about this later" Oliver whispered back.
"Hopefully I will have the occasional two on one meetings" Oliver said.
Tommy laughed at him. "Man are you sure you want to do this. It's not like you really have any experience in running a well running anything" Tommy said. Once again Oliver gave him a stern look. "How about tomorrow night, the two of us go and scope out the competition? There's a new club opening downtown. It's called Poison. Max Fuller owns it" Tommy asked. Diggle looked at the two billionaires unimpressed. If he didn't care about Felicity he wouldn't be doing this stupid job.
Oliver thought for a moment. "Max Fuller" he repeated.
"Mm-hm" Tommy said.
"I slept with his girlfriend back in high school" Oliver said.
"Yeah, then she dumped him" Tommy said.
"Then I slept with her friend" Oliver said.
"Then they stopped being friends and fought over you. Crazy. Ha, ha. Right" Tommy laughed.
"Ha, ha" Oliver joined Tommy in laughing.
"Besides, who stays mad at a castaway" Tommy asked as his phone buzzed in his pocket. He took it out and looked at it. "Damn it, I got to roll. Apparently there's some catastrophe at the office. So much for my lunch break" Tommy said. He put his phone back in his pocket. "I'll see you later bud. Good place" Tommy said. Tommy walked past Oliver and looked at Diggle. "See ya" he said lightly tapping Diggle's arm as he left the factory. Diggle watched Tommy leave.
Oliver turned around to look at Diggle. "So what do you think" Oliver asked his bodyguard.
"Well I'm here to provide security sir not a commentary" Diggle said.
"Come on Dig. Do me a favor. Speak freely. Please" Oliver said.
Diggle nodded. "Well this is the glades. Right. Your rich white friends wouldn't come to this neighborhood on a bet" he said.
"I am Oliver Queen. Right" Oliver asked. Diggle nodded. "People would stand in line for three hours if I opened a club" Oliver said.
"No one who actually lives in the glades will see a penny of those cover charges" Diggle said.
"We make it a successful business, we gentrify the neighborhood" Oliver said.
"I was wondering when we would get to that" Diggle said. Oliver looked at Diggle confused. "The white knight swooping in to save the disenfranchised and all by his lonesome with no help from anybody" Diggle said.
"Wow. You don't think very much of me do you" Oliver asked.
"No actually sir I have a very high regard for how perceptive you are" Diggle said smiling at him. "Sir" Diggle added for good measure. Oliver nodded but said nothing. Diggle walked out of the factory. Oliver turned around and looked around. This nightclub was important. It was going to conceal his base underneath and give him an alibi for where he spends his nights. He was going to make this happen. It would make what he had to do so much easier. No one would question the idea of Oliver Queen owning a nightclub.
Tommy arrived back at the office and saw the man who text him, David. He walked up to David. "Hey David what's the issue" Tommy asked.
David looked up at Tommy and rolled his eyes. "It's good that you finally decided to show up. Follow me" David said. Tommy shook his head and followed him down the hall. David was such an ass to him. Something about the fact that the only reason Tommy got the job is because he's Felicity's brother in law. That was true but he didn't have to be such an ass about it. David walked into his office. "Ms. Lance asked me to organize all of these files alphabetically. I figured since you're not doing anything you could do it" David said.
"Actually I was on my lunch break" Tommy said.
David shook his head. "Well now your off your lunch break" he said shoving Tommy into the office. "You have until two o'clock" he said.
"That's in two hours and there's like a hundred files here" he said.
"Two hundred. You might want to get started" David said laughing as he closed the office door.
Oliver went to the alley behind James Holder's apartment. He walked down it looking around. He was looking for where the bullet was. He remembered James Holder falling into his pool dead. Oliver continued to look around. He tried to shoot at whoever shot James Holder that night but he couldn't find where the shooter was. The shooter was able to shoot him which definitely wasn't fun. He found the building where the bullet was lodged into. Oliver ran at the wall of the building in front of him. Oliver climbed up the building until he got to a window which he hung off of. He pulled out a pair of pliers from his jeans. He moved across the wall to where the bullet was. He used the pliers to pull the bullet out of the wall. He looked at the bullet. This bullet was going to help him find the shooter. That was his number one priority right now. He needed to know who this shooter was so that he could stop whoever they were.
Tommy was sorting through the files organizing them alphabetically. He shouldn't have been doing it since Felicity asked David to do it but here he was doing it. He didn't want any trouble and it made his life easier to just keep his mouth shut and do it. He didn't want to complain to Felicity and then have her fire David or something. The last thing he needed was to look like he was getting special treatment. His phone started to ring. He looked at the ID and didn't recognize the number. He answered it while he still continued to sort through the files. "Hello" he answered.
"Is this Tommy Merlyn" the voice said on the other end of the phone.
"Yea how can I help you" he asked.
"Hi Tommy. You probably don't remember me but my name is Katie Miller and I met you and your wife a while back" Katie said.
Recognition registered on Tommy's face. "Oh yeah how are you" he asked.
"Honestly not well. I need to meet with you and your wife immediately" she said. She gave Tommy the address and hung up.
Oliver was back at his lair examining the bullet through a microscope. He looked at the screen next to him and saw the bullet. He turned to look at his computer screen. A blueprint for the bullet appeared on it. It was 7.26 million meter rounds. The money trail led back to the bratva which is the Russian mob. This was something good. Oliver knew how to deal with the bratva. He was that much closer to figuring out who the shooter was. Oliver's phone buzzed in his pocket. He took it out and saw that it was a message from Felicity. Dinner tonight at my place. I want to see you the text message read. Oliver smiled. Of course. I'll cook Oliver sent back. OK. I love you Felicity sent. I love you too Oliver sent back to her. Oliver smiled looking at a photo he had on his phone of Felicity. They were ,making progress. Slowly but at least there was some progress being made. Maybe Tommy was right. Maybe he should propose to Felicity.
Tommy and Laurel had arrived at the address Katie had told him to. Him and Laurel looked at each other confused. It was a funeral home. "Are you sure this is the place" Laurel asked.
Tommy looked down at the paper he had written the address on and nodded his head. "This is the address she gave me" Tommy said.
"Why would she want us to meet her at a funeral home" Laurel asked.
Before Tommy could answer Katie came running out. "Good you two are here. Follow me" she said running back into the funeral home. Tommy and Laurel looked at each other and Tommy shrugged. They walked into the funeral home. They found Katie down the stairs staring at one of the caskets.
"Katie what's go…" Laurel started to ask but Katie shook her head.
"Wait here" she said running out of the room.
Tommy turned to Laurel. "OK not going to lie. That was kind of creepy" Tommy said walking further into room looking around. Tommy walked over to a table and picked up a business card. His eyes widened.
"It's so weird that Katie would call you out of the blue like that. We haven't seen her in like two years since right before Becca was born" Laurel said as Tommy walked over to her.
"We have to go" he said grabbing Laurel's arm and pulling her with him up the stairs.
Laurel pulled her arm out of his grasp. "What's wrong Tommy" she asked. Tommy handed her the business card. Laurel looked at it and saw why Tommy wanted to get out of there so quickly. "Evelyn Merlyn" Laurel said looking up at Tommy.
Tommy nodded. "My father probably has something to do with why we are here so which means we have to leave" he said. Laurel nodded. They started walking up the stairs when two masked people with some weird looking guns in their hands appeared at the top if the stairs. Tommy pulled Laurel down the stairs with him when two more people appeared with those same guns on the other side of the room. They all pointed their guns at Tommy and Laurel. Tommy and Laurel ran behind one of the caskets as the people started shooting at each other. Tommy looked up from behind the casket him and Laurel were hiding behind and saw the guns shooting out electricity. Those must have been the A.S.A. lightning guns Tommy saw in one of the files he was sorting for Felicity. She was trying to create something that helped people deal with the affect of those guns. All of a sudden Katie ran into the room with a gun. She moved right in front of the casket Tommy and Laurel were hiding behind. She was hit with electricity and fell to the floor dead. Tommy watched as the gun fell to the floor right in front of the casket.
While the four people were distracted fighting each other with the electricity guns Tommy started to crawl out but Laurel grabbed his arm. "What are you doing" she asked.
"Getting us out of here alive" he answered.
Laurel kissed him. "I love you" she said.
Tommy stroked her cheek. "I love you too" he said. He crawled out and grabbed the gun off the floor and stood up. He pointed it at the four people. "I don't know what the hell is going on here but me and my wife are going to be leaving" he said. They all looked at each other and pointed their guns at him. He turned to Laurel. "Run" he said.
Laurel shook her head. "No not with out you" she said. The four people started charging up their guns and Tommy did the same. If this was the end for him he was going to take down as many of them as he could with him. All of a sudden they heard police sirens outside. The four people ran out of the room.
Just then the cops came in with their guns raised. "Don't move" one of the cops yelled. They saw Tommy holding the weird gun standing next to a body that was burned to a crisp. Quentin stepped into the room with his gun raised and Tommy let out a sigh of relief.
Quentin looked between Tommy the burned body an Laurel who was standing behind Tommy. He turned to Tommy. "What did you do" he asked.
Tommy looked at Katie's burned body and then at Quentin as realization hit him. He dropped the gun on the floor and raised his hands up. "This is just one big misunderstanding" he said. One of the cops walked over to Tommy and handcuffed him.
"You can explain down at the station" the cop said.
"You can't be serious. I didn't do this" Tommy said.
Laurel ran in front of the cop. "He's right. There were four other people here. They shot those weird guns at each other and tried to shoot us. Tommy didn't even shoot it" Laurel said.
"He can tell his story down at the station" the cop said dragging Tommy out of the room as he fought against the handcuffs and the cops grip.
"I DIDN'T DO ANYTHING. I'M INNOCENT" Tommy yelled.
Laurel turned to her father. "You can't let them do this dad. Please. He's innocent" Laurel pleaded with her father.
Quentin shook his head. "I'm sorry Laurel but I have no choice" he said leaving the room. Laurel stood there in shook. She couldn't believe what just happened. She had to figure out some way to clear Tommy's name.
Oliver walked through downtown with a baseball cap on. He walked down an alley to a door taking off the baseball cap. He walked into the building putting the baseball cap in his back jeans pocket. He walked up to two men who were working on a car. "I'm looking for Alexi Leonov" Oliver said in Russian.
The men looked back at him. "There's no one here by that name" one of the men said back to Oliver in Russian.
Oliver shook his head. "Not in your garage" he said once again in Russian walking closer to the two men.
Oliver stopped walking and stared at the man in front of him. "In the basement underneath" he said in Russian. The man nodded to the other man. The second man walked up, pulled out a gun and pointed it at Oliver. Oliver quickly grabbed the gun and twisted. The man's arm twisted and he fell to his knees yelling out in pain. Oliver looked up at the other man. He took the gun from the other man's hand. He disassembled the gun and pulled back his Henley shirt showing his bratva tattoo.
"I'm Bratva. I want to see Alexi Leonov" Oliver said in Russian. The man stood up holding his hand and moved back from Oliver.
The other man walked up to Oliver. "Pleased to meet you" the man said bowing to Oliver. Oliver slowly nodded his head in acknowledgement. He walked Oliver to the basement. "I apologize. We meant no disrespect to a captain. Particularly an American one. So how can I be of assistance" the man asked Oliver as they arrived in the basement.
"I'm in the market for a hired gun. Someone the organization has used before his calling card is a 7.62 millimeter round laced with curare" Oliver said.
The man shook his head. "I know no man who uses such tools" he said.
"You can find out who does though" Oliver said.
The man poured him and Oliver a drink. "First we will drink to each other's health" he said handing Oliver a shot glass. "Then I will look into the identity of this man you seek" the man said as both he and Oliver took a shot. They put the glasses on the table. "I will also confirm that you are really bratva captain. Should this not be the case I will send my mechanic here to find you and kill you and your family" the man said smiling at Oliver. Oliver looked over at the man on the stairs who just stared at Oliver. Oliver turned back to the other man and left.
Across town Deadshot was tattooing himself while watching the news on TV. "Carl Rasmussen was found shot to death in his home earlier this evening. The police will not comment if there's a connection between Rasmussen's death… and the murder of James Holder" the reporter on the TV said. Deadshot was tattooing Carl Rasmussen's name into his chest. He dabbed at the tattoo. Another kill to add to his list. The vigilante was still alive. That's fine. It was just another name to add to his list when he killed the vigilante.
