Aside from some easy puzzles, the rooms in the Underground are, so far, easy to go through. Seriously, even a child could solve these puzzles! The switches were even labeled for me in that one puzzle!

Whoever designed this place wanted these puzzles to be easy. If this is how all the puzzles are going to be, we should be out of here in no time.

Yes, mastering the puzzles is no problem for me. And I can't wait to find the person who made them, and then see the look on their face once I stab them!

The last room I was in was that room with that stupid training dummy. I made sure to leave nothing but stuffing when I was done with it. It may not have been alive but it was certainly fun to practice my knife skills on.

"Ribbit, Ribbit (Another new person! Are you a human too?! There have been so many of you recently. That is certainly an interesting custom you ha-)" I prepare to attack the monster before it even can finish. It looks like a giant frog but it is white and almost as big as a small child.

That same box pops up that appeared last time and I can see what I think is my soul in the center.

Our first monster kill. This will be quite an accomplishment.

I grin as I raise my knife to attack, as I do I see the cheerfulness of the monster (which I now know to be a Froggit thanks to the box) fade and a look of fear replaces it. It shakes in fear as my knife collides against its skin. The Froggit disappears into dust before my eyes. In the text box, it says that I earned 10 XP and 20 gold.

Sure enough in the pill of dust that was once the Froggit, there is now a small pile of gold. I pick it up and examine it. I am a little disappointed that the body disappeared though. I wanted to see the result of my work, but all there is just a pile of dust.

You did well. That monster didn't even know what hit him. For some reason, I can feel you growing stronger after you killed it. Whatever this place is, it seems that with every kill we get stronger. This can help us.

Master is right. The second that Froggit died I felt slightly stronger than before. I love this feeling. I can't wait to feel it again the next time I kill a monster! I twist the knife in my hands, this place is going to be so fun.

Don't forget about our mission. We need to find that kid. We are so close to getting enough Remnant to stabilize my resurrection. Any other kills we get along the way are fine but don't get sidetracked.

Of course master, it won't be a problem. I will find him and we will get all the Remnant we need from him when I do.

Nothing much seems to be in this room. All there is just a table with some cheese on it. Other than that the only other thing of interest in the room is a mouse hole against the wall. Seeing nothing else of interest in the room I continue walking forward. The thing waiting for me in the next room makes my eyes widen.

Laying on a flat pile of leaves is a stereotypical-looking ghost! The ghost keeps saying z's out loud repeatedly. Seriously, who is this ghost trying to fool? He is awake! But either way, it looks as if he is blocking the only path, and unless I can walk through him I am going to have to get him to move.

"That is Napstablook, he comes to the Ruins from time to time because he likes being alone. I tend to leave him alone to respect his wishes, but I'm sure that he won't mind you talking to him." Toriel then walks over to Napstablook and she gives him a warm smile.

"Hello, I am sorry to intrude but is it ok if I and my child go by here?" Napstablook quickly gets up. He looks at us apologetically.

"Oh, terribly sorry. I didn't know another human would be coming here so soon. The Ruins are usually an empty place." Napstablook's voice sounds depressed with a little bit of anxiety in it. And it looks as if he already wants to apologize again.

"You know… it is extremely obvious that you were awake, but we apologize for disturbing you." Toriel quickly gives me a disapproving look and looks softly at Napstablook. Napstablook seems to get more stressed by my remarks. He looks a little ashamed and he looks down at the ground.

"I'm sorry. I'm not… very good with people. But since you are here. Would you like to see a… trick?" I want to continue forward, but this ghost doesn't know what's after me! Vanessa is probably already awake. I don't want to imagine what she will do to me if she catches me.

"Fine, but can you do it fast." I sigh, if letting him do his trick gets us moving faster then I might as well get it over with. Napstablook looks surprised for a minute and then he starts crying.

What can he possibly be doing that involves crying?! It's not like this is a good use of our time! But to my surprise I see the tears moving upwards instead of falling to the ground. To my shock, it starts to form the shape of a hat on Napstablook's head.

"I call it dapper blook. Do you like it?" Napstablook eagerly waits for a response, as he stares at me.

"How did you even do that?" I am still staring at the tear-made hat, trying to see if it looks solid or if it is wet like the tears. To my surprise, it looks perfectly solid from what I can tell.

"Did it surprise you? The other human liked it, but I understand if you don't."

"I'll admit that was pretty cool. But I want to continue down the Ruins." Napstablook seems like he is satisfied by my answer.

"Oh, I am so sorry to stop you like this. I will be leaving now. Perhaps we will see each other again soon?" Napstablook quickly looks to the ground and he disappears. Toriel smiles and walks to where Napstablook was standing.

"I enjoyed that trick. I didn't know he could do that. We can continue now Gregory. The only puzzles left ahead, only need you to pull levers." It's good that it won't take that long from here. Hopefully, Vanessa is still at the front of the Ruins but knowing her, she will annihilate anything in her path.

Author's Notes:

Next chapter Frisk is going to have a surprise in store for them once Toriel shows up.

And I am also retconning Vanny's LV to be level 17.

As always thank you to my proofreader Kaeli.
