Tommy sat in the interrogation room annoyed. This was Oliver's mess and somehow he had gotten stuck in the middle of it. "So let me get this straight. You say you didn't see Oliver after you followed him up the stairs" Quentin asked.
Tommy shook his head. "As I already told you, no. When I got upstairs he was already gone. I have no idea where he went" he said.
"You see I'm having a hard time believing that. That night you told me and Laurel after the building got shot up you were looking for me and got lost" Quentin said.
Tommy nodded. "I was after I tried to find Oliver" he said.
Quentin just stared at Tommy. "You know what I think Mr. Merlyn" Quentin asked.
"So it's MR. Merlyn now. What happened to Tommy? I thought we were making so much progress" Tommy said.
"We were until you decided to lie to me" Quentin said.
"I'm not lying to you. I don't know where Oliver went that night" Tommy said.
"Well I think you've been helping Mr. Queen with his nighttime activities" Quentin said.
"What exactly do you think Oliver is doing" Tommy asked.
Quentin shrugged his shoulders. "I don't know. Putting on a green hood, running around this city like he's Robin Hood" he said. Tommy just stared at him. Even though he knew Quentin was right and him and Oliver were going through an rough patch right now he didn't want to be the one to turn his friend in. After about a minute Tommy burst out laughing. "What's so funny Mr. Merlyn" Quentin asked.
"You actually believe Oliver is the vigilante" Tommy laughed.
"We have proof" Quentin said.
"What that video of Oliver pulling out a hood. That could be anything. Maybe he was cold" Tommy said.
Quentin shook his head. "You and I both know what that means Mr. Merlyn" he said.
"Really what does that mean? That he's going around at night killing people. Please. You know Oliver" Tommy lied rolling his eyes.
"I knew him before he was stranded on that island for five years. We don't know what that island could have done to him" Quentin said.
Tommy shook his head. "Oliver's not the vigilante" he said.
Just then Laurel walked into the room. "Dad you have to let him go. Tommy didn't do anything" she said.
"Thank you that's exactly what I've been telling him. Now uncuff me so I can go home with my wife" Tommy said raising his hands up which were cuffed to the table.
"We're not done here. If Oliver is the vigilante then everyone close to him is in danger including Felicity" Quentin said.
Laurel shook her head. "Come on Dad. Oliver would never hurt Felicity even if he is the vigilante" she said.
"You don't know that. That island could have changed him. We don't know what he's capable of now" Quentin said.
"OK enough of this. We all know why you've made up this story in your head about Oliver being the vigilante" Tommy said.
"Why is that Mr. Merlyn" Quentin said.
"You don't believe Oliver is good enough for Felicity and you don't want them together so you're looking for any excuse to paint Oliver as the bad guy so that Felicity won't be with him anymore. Well guess what even if he is the vigilante we all know Felicity would still choose him" Tommy said.
"Tommy stop" Laurel said.
"No. I know this game. I've been playing it for far too long. He's been doing it our entire relationship. Nothing I do is ever good enough for him so he tries to make me the bad guy and put you in the middle to cause a fight between us hoping we'll break up and now he's trying to do the same thing with Oliver and Felicity" Tommy said. "Well guess what neither me nor Oliver are going anywhere. Now uncuff me so I can go home" Tommy said holding out his hands. Quentin glared at Tommy but eventually unlocked his cuffs and Tommy stood up and walked over to Laurel. He did his part in trying to help Oliver. Now the rest was up to Oliver himself.
Felicity and Sara had landed in Afghanistan. Sara decided to go with her to make sure Felicity would be safe. Bruce Wayne was waiting for them when they landed. He smiled over at Felicity. "Felicity Lance. I'm glad you actually came" Bruce said.
"Well you said you had what we talked about" Felicity said. Sara nudged Felicity a little. "Bruce this is my sister Sara" Felicity said.
Bruce smiled over at her and shook her hand. "It's nice to meet you Sara" he said.
"You too Mr. Wayne" she said.
Bruce shook his head. "Call me Bruce" he said.
"OK Bruce. So what is this mystery item you guys are talking about" Sara asked.
"I'm sorry Sara. It's classified. Wait here" Felicity said walking away with Bruce. They walked into a tent and about five minutes later Felicity walked out with a bag. She shook Bruce's hand and walked back over to Sara. "You ready" Felicity asked.
"What's in the bag" Sara asked.
"Nothing" Felicity said walking back onto the jet. Sara followed very suspicious of her sister. What was she hiding?
In the morning, Laurel was out meeting with Peter Declan and Tommy was home getting Becca ready for the day. He checked her temperature. It was at 98.9. It went down and she seemed better today. She hadn't coughed since they started the day and was a lot more happy. Tommy sighed a sigh of relief. The last thing he wanted was for his daughter to be sick. He picked her up and put her in her high chair and gave her cereal. He put it down in front of her. She always refused to let Tommy feed her. "Big Girl" is what she would say to him when he tried to feed her. He always found it so cute. He smiled down at his daughter and kissed her on the head. He started to make himself breakfast. He looked at his daughter who had shoved her face into the cereal. He laughed and shook his head. "You always want to make a mess for daddy don't you" he asked his daughter as he cleaned her off. "This is why mommy always feeds you baby food but we'll keep this our little secret" Tommy said picking up his daughter and bringing her into her room.
He changed her clothes and tickled her while she laughed. After she was changed he let her stay in her room and play with her toys while he finished cooking his breakfast. And cleaned off the high chair. If Laurel found out he gave Becca cereal she would kill him. He had just finished his breakfast when there was a knock on the door. He walked over and opened it. He saw his friend from work Liv standing on the other side of the door. She looked like she had been crying. "Liv is everything OK" he asked. Liv shook her head.
"No my sister Julia died" she said.
"I'm sorry. Come in" he said letting Liv in the apartment. He walked Liv over to the couch.
"I'm sorry for just coming over like this. I tried to call my uncle Chase but he wasn't answering" she said.
Tommy shook his head. "That's not a problem. I'm sorry about you're sister" he said.
She nodded. "Chase was a friend of my father's and he helped me through my father's death" she said.
"Well if you need to talk I'm always here" Tommy said.
Liv showed Tommy a locket she had around her neck. It was half a heart that said Liv on it. "This locket was the last thing my father gave to me and his sister before his death. He gave the other half to my sister. Looking at it just makes me so sad now" Liv said.
Tommy looked at the locket closer. "Well if it's an constellation it's a beautiful locket" he said.
"Julia was a nurse and drove an ambulance into a car rental place late last night. No one was there but she wound up dying. She was drinking while on the job" Liv cried to Tommy.
Just then Laurel walked into the apartment. She saw Liv sitting on the couch crying. "Oh my god are you OK" she asked Liv walking over to her.
Liv looked up at her. "My sister died and I didn't want to bother you guys but I had no one else to talk to . I can't get in touch with my uncle" Liv explained to Laurel.
Laurel hugged her. "You're not a bother at all. If there's anything we can do just let us know" she said.
Liv pulled back from her. "Actually there is something you guys can do for me. I have to tell my mother and we don't get along. So I figured you two could come for some moral support" she said.
Tommy and Laurel looked at each other. Tommy then looked over at Liv. "I don't know that seems like a family situation. I mean we didn't even know you're sister" he said.
Liv nodded. "You're right it was stupid of me to ask. I never should have. I'm sorry" she said.
Laurel looked at Tommy. Tommy nodded to her getting up from the couch. Laurel took her hand. "If you need us to go with you to talk to your mother then that's what we'll do. We just have to drop Becca off at my father's house first" she said.
In the lair, Oliver was watching on his computer a news report about Jason Brodeur getting arrested. Oliver opened his father's book and crossed out Jason Brodeur's name from it. He closed the book and picked up the photo he had of Felicity on his desk. He smiled at it. He was going to tell her everything. He was scared that she wouldn't look at him the same way. He got up and walked over to the crate which held his bow. He dug through it until he found what he was looking for. He pulled out the small ring box and opened it. This was the future he always dreamed of having with Felicity. He didn't know if it was possible anymore. He hoped it still was. He walked back over to the desk and looked at something he hadn't looked at in a while. The sonogram of their baby. Their baby girl. The baby neither one of them ever got to meet but both loved very much. A single tear fell from his face as he thought about the baby they lost and how Felicity had to deal with that without him. "I'm sorry. You deserved better" Oliver said holding the sonogram close to his heart.
Oliver saw something that looked like a blur appear on the screen. He put the sonogram down and looked closely at the screen. The blur had taken down two armed robbers. Oliver stared at the screen. He realized what the blur was. It was a person. What the hell? He thought. Who the hell is this and what was he doing in his city? The person stopped running and he got a good look at the person. He paused the frame and looked closer at the man and the suit he was wearing. It looked like a pilot uniform with a red scarf and an aviators cap with goggles. He also had yellow gloves and boots. He had a white cloth mask that covered his mouth and nose. Oliver thought the man looked like an idiot but more importantly how was that man able to run so fast? Something weird was going on and Oliver didn't like it. Whoever this man was he had to get the hell out of his city. The last thing Oliver need was Speedy Gonzalez over here coming into Starling and causing problems.
Lian Yu
Oliver was eating the bird he killed and it felt so good. Finally he was getting food in his system. The man walked over to him and sat down across from him. He spoke in Chinese to Oliver. "Yeah. Bird. I know" Oliver said.
"Shengcun not mean "bird" the man said. Oliver looked up at him. "Shengcun mean survive" the man explained to Oliver.
Oliver looked at him shocked. "You speak English" he said.
"You won't survive this place. Bird not the last thing you kill" the man said. The man pulled out the photo Oliver kept of Felicity and showed it to Oliver. "Forget her. You look at her all day. You will not survive this place" the man said.
Oliver glared at the man. He jumped up and took the picture of Felicity from the man. "DON'T EVER TOUCH THIS PHOTO EVER AGAIN. DO YOU HEAR ME" Oliver yelled at the man. He sat back down and looked at the photo. He couldn't give up on Felicity. He had to believe he would see her again. That's the only way he was going to survive.
Present
Tommy and Laurel sat with Liv as she told her mother about her sister. It was very awkward for them as both women cried and hugged each other. They both apologized to each other and promised to be better to each other. Her grandmother came in and the three women cried together. Liv told Tommy and Laurel they could leave as she was going to spend some time with her mother. Tommy and Laurel hugged her and told her if there was anything she needed to just let them know. She said she would and they left. Tommy and Laurel were driving home when Laurel looked over at Tommy. "I'm sorry about last night with my father. I don't know what he was thinking" she said.
Tommy kissed her hand. "It's OK. It's not your fault your father's a dick" he said. He realized what he said and looked over at Laurel. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said that. He's just so frustrating sometimes" Tommy said.
Laurel nodded. "I know and you weren't wrong about what you said back at the station. He's never liked you or Oliver very much. Thanks for trying to have a relationship with him though" she said.
"Anything for you" Tommy said.
Oliver walked into the living room of the Queen mansion where Diggle was looking out the window waiting for him holding a file. Oliver cleared his throat and Diggle turned to look at him. "You here for the bodyguard position because the new guy just quit" Oliver asked.
"No I'm not. I'm here because I got something on the Merlyn's" Diggle said. Oliver held out his hand. Diggle walked over to him and handed him the file. "About the other position. Let's be clear about one thing. I'm not signing on to be a sidekick but you're right. Fighting for this city needs to be done and you're going to do it with or without me" Diggle said.
Oliver nodded. "Yes" he said.
"With me they'll be fewer casualties including you" Diggle said.
"Diggle I'm not looking for anybody to save me" Oliver said.
Diggle shrugged his shoulders. "Maybe not but you need someone just the same" Diggle said walking closer to Oliver.
"You are fighting a war Queen except you have no idea what war does to you" Diggle said.
"It scrapes off little pieces of your soul and you need someone to remind you of who you are, not this thing you're becoming" Diggle said. Diggle held out his hand for Oliver to shake which he did.
Oliver turned his attention to the file Diggle gave him. "What did you find out" Oliver asked.
"Turns out you were right the Merlyn's are involved with a lot of known criminals and shady corporations. I think they're trying to hurt the city" Diggle said.
Oliver nodded. "Then they have to be stopped" he said.
"So how did your conversation go with Felicity" Diggle asked.
"We haven't had it yet" Oliver said looking at the file in his hand. Diggle shook his head.
"Oliver you said…" Diggle started but Oliver interrupted him.
"That I'd tell her everything and I will. We're meeting later for lunch" Oliver said.
Diggle nodded. "You're doing the right thing" he said.
"I hope so" Oliver said. Oliver still wasn't sure if telling Felicity the truth was the right thing to do. He could lose everything he fought to get back to while on the island.
All of a sudden car tires screeched outside. "Oliver Queen" Oliver heard someone call his name. He turned around to look for who it was. Two cops walked past Walter.
"What is this? You can't just barge in here" Walter said to Quentin as he walked up to him.
"Yea well I got a badge and a gun that says different" Quentin said walking past Walter.
Oliver walked into the room with Diggle behind him. "What the hell is going on" Oliver asked.
"Oliver, what's happening" Thea asked from the staircase.
"You're under arrest for obstruction of justice, aggravated assault…" Quentin said as on e of the cops handcuffed Oliver.
"Walter stop them" Thea called out.
"Trespassing, acting as a vigilante and murder" Quentin continued.
"ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND" Oliver yelled at him. Quentin roughly grabbed Oliver and started walking him out of the house.
"You have the right to remain silent…" the other cop started saying to Oliver as they walked out of the house. Walter got on the phone as Diggle, Moira and Thea watched worriedly as Oliver was brought out of the house.
Quentin walked Oliver to the back of the police car. Quentin grabbed Oliver and pinned him against the car. "You had your fun being a vigilante and manipulating Felicity but it stops now especially with my daughter. I'm going to make you a promise. You're never going to see or talk to her again. You've already done enough damage. I always knew you were bad news and now Felicity will know too" Quentin said.
Oliver glared at him. "We're not teenagers anymore. You can't come between us" he said.
Quentin leaned in close to Oliver's ear so only he could hear him. "Watch me" Quentin said. He opened the back door of the police car and roughly threw Oliver in it. Quentin got in and they drove away. Oliver sat in the backseat thinking about his predicament. He just got arrested and Quentin threatened him with one of the most important things to him. His relationship with Felicity. Quentin was insane if he thought Oliver was going to let him come between him and Felicity. No matter what happened Oliver and Felicity were still going to be together even if he ended up in jail.
