Chapter 1: Trouble!

Silence reigned the midnight air in Sengoku Jidai. The trees swayed and its leaves swayed along with the blowing winds, as the crickets chirped song after song of lovers' serenades. A large, full moon in all its luminous glory rises over the rocky plateaus in unspoiled Japan. It was peaceful.

But alas, not all is well.

A small girl in a dirty, unkempt kimono cuts across the plains, running as if her life depended on it. One cannot mistake the look of fear and despair if they had the chance to see.

"…… Help, somebody, please…" are her quiet sobs.

"Sesshoumaru-sama, he – "

Her inability to speak without tearing causes her to break into new strength to run further. She needed help…

… And so did he.

"KAGOME!"

Inuyasha attempted to break the cursed barrier that surrounded him, keeping him away from his comrades – Miroku, Sango, Shippou, Kirara, and the time-traveler from 500 years into the future.

The canine hanyou cursed under his breath. He had been too careless! He had inadvertently torn his eyes away from the rest to focus on his new opponent. While he was lucky to avoid him the first time, Ungai and his followers decided to follow through their plans to exterminate all youkais that walked the grounds. And hanyous were of no exception. His strength and knowledge greatly overpowering the rest together, the high priest chanted a few more inaudible spells before sealing the rest in their own containment.

Soon the group found themselves hovering 6 feet above the ground, with translucent, soundproof shells being their only windows to what was happening to them. Jaken was also not spared.

Even for them who were not well acquainted with the youkai prince of the Western Lands, it pained them to behold the sight before them.

Sesshoumaru, heir to the throne of the Western Empire, was held captive. Ungai finally had him cornered, and, using a spell that he had unraveled, was packed with enough energy to even keep the strongest youkais in their place. Thick, poisonous needles speared 10 inches deep into every vital part of his body, causing him to become completely immobilized. He was heavily drenched in his own blood, which flowed without cease, causing the white kimono he regularly wore to bear large patches of red. He attempted to escape, but each move only made the needles for embedded into his pale flesh, causing him to wince in pain. But his desire to be freed only feuled his blood, causing his eyes to turn beet-red, as he tried to turn into his true self.

"It is no use, mononoke," Ungai remarked. "Your attempts to escape only makes the spell more effective. With the poison now in your bloodstream, it will be a matter of time before you are dealt with…. Permanently."

Sesshoumaru glared at the priest, blood-shot eyes ready to attack and shred him to no end, but was unable to do anything. He tried to ignore the small tinge of despair rising from his gut as he felt the poison work through his body.

"…Damn."

Author's Note: I have Chapter 2 in the works, but I'm not ready to put it up until I see some comments and reviews. I haven't done fanfiction in the longest time, so pardon me if it seems kinda…. Off? Oh well… I'll see how this story goes, and then I'll make further progress with the rest of the next chapter. Til then! 
