A/N: I don't write many stories, all that I do I do during classes. Excuse and OOCness etc. Live with it. If you really cared THAT much, you wouldn't be reading fanfiction. And yes, for the record I know that this would never happen.
Disclaimer: I do not own Inuyasha, that is only a fantasy that I have when I have watched too many episodes in one sitting.
Kagome tapped her pencil against her desktop as she simultaneously attempted to absorb the material in her English book and waited for the bell to ring.
"Higurashi!" Her attention was recalled to the front of the classroom. Her teacher looked slightly annoyed, and Kagome blushed at the eyes suddenly turned in her direction. "Would you please see me after class?"
"Of course," she said, her blush increasing exponentially as time continued. Finally, the textbooks reclaimed the reluctant concentration of the bored teens, and Kagome let out the breath she had been holding.
Over and over Kagome worried about what her teacher could want to say. Was she failing? Would she have to stay back a year? Had someone finally noticed that she did not look sick? The remaining ten minutes of the period took a frantic, unproductive eternity.
At last, the shrill, technological ring signaled the end of anxiety and the beginning of pure, utter dread. Even though she knew that Inuyasha would be angry for making him wait, she dragged her steps, head bowed. The other students filed out happily and chatted excitedly about the upcoming weekend. Kagome reached the teacher's desk and looked up.
"Higurashi, I understand that your nearly constant illnesses have put you a little behind, but this essay is simply unacceptable."
Kagome's head snapped back a little, surprised.
The teacher continued: "the assignment was to write a journal of your life for the past two weeks. I know that sitting in bed, or even a hospital, is not exciting, and I would allow some embellishment, but this blatant falsehood is disrespectful."
Kagome thought about the paper in question. Almost immediately she remembered what she had written – the truth. Her eye twitched in frustration.
"I'm sorry, but that is what I did."
"I somehow doubt that you jumped down a well and," she consulted the paper, "a half dog demon named Inuyasha yelled at you." The teacher glared at Kagome.
"I know that it might seem... but... really... I..." her unconnected phrases trailed off.
"I see. In that case, since this is your first serious digression, you may rewrite the essay and return it." Her features softened as she considered Kagome's tired appearance. "If you give it to me by Monday, then I will give you full credit."
"Thank you." Although she brightened a little, she was still frustrated (not surprised) that her teacher that she was lying. Kagome smiled and began to turn when a red blur flew in the window. He grabbed Kagome's wrist with a clawed hand and began to shout.
"Where have you been, wench? I've been waiting for an hour!"
"Then you came too early, baka! I told you that I was going to school today."
Inuyasha growled and his ears twitched, picking up the frightened and panicked exclamations of Kagome's teacher. "You got a problem?" he growled at her. She shook her head and backed up, running into the chalkboard.
"Inuyasha, you JERK! Stop it! I'm just a little late!"
"All the others are gone, so you should be home by now1"
"Inuyasha, SIT! SIT! SIT! Grrr..." She began to stalk away.
"Higurashi," gulped the teacher, "I believe you now."
Kagome turned slightly and smiled as she waited for Inuyasha patiently by the door. He slowly got up from his newly formed Inuyasha-shaped crater that the spell had made in the school's floor. His teeth, fangs rather, were bared, but he walked quietly to Kagome. She reached for his hand and pulled him out of the school.
