"I don't get you, you're not making any sense at all." She said, moving the vermilion strands of hair from her face.

His gray speckled eyes left the city before them and met her lilac orbs; he really had no idea what she was talking about. He didn't even know why she was there. She didn't belong here really – she belonged by Sora's side. Where she'd always been. This was wrong. What he felt was wrong.

"You shouldn't be here."

"Why shouldn't I?" She protested.

He replied with only a sullen stare. Why did she insist on staying when she clearly did not fit in? This wasn't how it was supposed to be. Things were supposed to be different—

"…I love you."

His eyes widened and those words only saddened him more. Love was the total opposite of what it was said to be. She wasn't supposed to say that. He wasn't supposed to believe her and he wasn't supposed to feel the same way. Why couldn't she just accept that they weren't meant to be together and just live with it? Kairi was only making this harder for the both of them.

It was painfully quiet. Her eyes downcast now, "Roxas, why can't you just admit you love me? I—"

"You can't love me Kairi! You. don't. Love. Me…" This outburst startled her. "You're in love with Sora. Besides…how could I love someone when I don't even have a heart."

She furrowed her brows. He couldn't tell her who she did and did not love. She opened her mouth to speak but was cut off again.

"I'm a nobody, Kairi…" He walked towards the edge of the building and peered down at the people down below.

"You're not a nobody." She took a step forward, hesitantly.

"Yeah, actually I am." He looked over his shoulder at her. She really did not understand anything. "I'm Sora's nobody, and you only think you love me…because I'm a part of him."

"That's not true at all."

Roxas shook his head and turned to face her, "Kairi, please, just go away. Go home. Let things go back to the way they were—"

She wrapped her arms around him and rested her head against his chest. She didn't understand why he was doing this to himself, why he was doing this to her. He wasn't one for "enjoying the moment". He always thought of the big picture and how things are and how things should be, never whether or not that lifestyle was what he wanted or not. His non-existent heartbeat was such a beautiful thing. Nobody or not, she loved him. Not Sora not anyone else for that matter.

He turned away and focused his eyes on the ground. Life was so much easier before all this. Before he found out about Sora, before the Organization and before Kairi. He could deal with the fact that he'd be non-existent soon. He'd return to wherever he came from, he was created/"born" a nobody when Sora became a Heartless; he would no longer eat, he'd no longer breathe, nor sleep, and he'd never see his friends again. But he learned to accept that…he just wasn't prepared for her.

They simply did not have time for love.

It would have all worked out just fine, really. He was not afraid to die. He had nothing to lose. She'd change all of that…and he didn't need a reason to be angry about fate. Kairi was wrong; she was the one not making sense. How could you love someone knowing they'll leave you anyway? How could you love a nobody…a heartless?

He raised his arms and wrapped them around her small frame, as well.

It was all a waste of time.

But he did love her. He'd regret admitting that later.
