Kyo smirked as Tohru took his hand and led him through the crowd. They were at a carnival that was passing through town and it had been her idea to go as a date. They hadn't had one moment of peace since Kazuma was born. And the interesting thing was that it wasn't Kazuma who was being disruptive; it was Kyoko. She had done nothing but have temper tantrums while telling her parents that SHE should have all the new things and SHE shouldn't have to help change the baby's stinky diapers. Honestly! Kyo was very sure that at any moment she would show the numbers 666 in her head somehow.
"C'mon silly!" Tohru shouted at him. They were at the end of the line of the Ferris Wheel and she knew that she had chose this ride for purpose. They both had a love of heights seeing as how Shigure's roof had been the place for more than one serious talk. Kyo smiled fondly at the memory and was literally pulled from his memory as Tohru tugged him into the Ferris seat. A jerk from the machine and they were floating to the top. Kyo wrapped his arm around Tohru's shoulders and they gazed out into the night.
"It's nice to have quiet," he commented softly.
She nodded and then giggled. He raised an eyebrow at her.
"What?"
She giggled some more. "I've never really had quiet. Mom was always so cheerful and then between you, Yuki, and Shigure… well, then came the children. I don't think I've ever had much quiet before."
Kyo nodded thoughtfully and then bopped her lightly on the head.
"You should have quiet, sometimes. It's refreshing and it lets you prepare for the next challenges ahead."
She just rested her head on his shoulder and smiled. It really didn't take much to please her and he always tried to put that smile on her face, even if he didn't feel like smiling, himself.
"Kyo?"
"Hmm?"
"Do you think we'll be able to have more quiet like this?"
He paused for a second and then answered her.
"No. Not really."
She giggled and they spent the rest of the ride in silence, soaking up the intimacy of the moment.
