"Wha...what the fuck?" Spider-Man moaned. "What happened?" he massaged his head. Oh my god it throbbed! Wait...the light! The weird blue light! Spider-Man looked around at his surroundings. He was in some kind of hospital. He was in a room with about ten other hospital beds. He jumped out of his bed and went for the door. It was locked tight.

"Okay...hello? Anyone? Uh..hello?" He called. "Pff. I'll find my own way out of here." He said, walking over to a window. It was really dark outside. I mean, really dark. He couldn't see anything out there but a few weird lights. Someone walked into the room then. "Oh my lord! Captain America?" Spider-Man yelped. And it was. Captain American waltzed in looking very concerned. "Spider-Man, are you okay?" "Yeah, 'Cap. Super!" He moaned. "Come on, we should go with the others." "Others?" Spider-Man asked. Captain America nodded. "Yes. Johnny Storm, Wolverine and Dare Devil are here as well." "Woah." Spider-Man said as he followed Captain America down a long hallway.

"So, where are we, Cap?" "I have no idea." "Well...any clues or signs or something?" "No, Spider-Man." He sighed. Spider-Man felt a little dizzy and he collapsed on the floor. "Damn...my head..." "Your head?" "Yeah...feels funny." Captain American lifted him up. "I'll carry you until you feel up-to-steam." "Wow, being swept off my feet by Captain America! It's every girl's dream come true!" Spider-Man said in a feminine voice. Captain American just laughed.

He walked into a room that was labeled 'Holding Room 5' on the door. The doors slid in automatically. Captain America sat Spider-Man down to face the other superheroes that were here. "Hey guys, what's kicking?" "Waiting," Dare Devil said. "You okay?" "Yeah...headache, that's all. So, how'd you guys open the door? That medical center was locked..." "It was locked," said Wolverine. "I used my...blades...to pick the door open. We have no idea where we are." Johnny Storm came over next. "Spidey, wutz ap?" "Not much homie. Just chillin!" "Will you two stop talking in online slang and pay attention!" Wolverine snapped. "This is a serious situation. That light transported us here-abducted us, actually, and was just...ugh...we need to find out who did this and how we can get back." "Yeah." Torch said. "Ahem, totally." Spider-Man said. Each gave one another looks that said 'Wolverine-is-such-a-stiff' and followed the rest in the investigation.

Suddenly, there was an announcement over a loud speaker. Spider-Man remembered it as if he were still in high school listening to the morning announcements. "Attention. Attention. The heroes in Holding Room 5 have escaped. All guards please located the heroes. And please, do not harm or slaughter any of the heroes. That means you, Wane." The five heroes looked at each other in complete silence for several minutes. They just stood there until Spider-Man said, "Well, since everyone's thinking it, I might as well say it! Holy shit! What the hell is going on?"

Then a group of three seven-foot tall beast-looking things shook the ground. "Heroes secure!" One yelled into what looked like a wristwatch communicator. Soon they were surrounded. "Uh...hi," Spider-Man said. "Wha-what's your name?" The beast- man who was standing in front of him smiled. "Wane." "You five. Return to your holding room. Now." A second said. He was different from the others. He had a nose ring. Captain American read his I.D. badge. "Okay, Mono, we're not going back until we get some answers! We were taking from our homes and our lives for what?" "Yeah! So if you're gonna kill us, do it now." Spider-Man whimpered. Mono snorted. "No one is being killed here, hero. I suppose I can take you to the Headmistress." "Of what?" "You will see."

The five of them were basically dragged to a large wall, complete with beautiful double-doors that stood about ten feet high. "In." Mono ordered. And they went in. The room they entered was beautiful. It had about a twenty-foot ceiling, and had a complete stained-glass floor. There were a set of stairs that went up about a foot or two, and there stood a desk and behind that, a throne. They stood in the center of the room, which was marked by a yellow stained-glass circle. They admired the walls, which contained portraits of over twenty odd-looking people. Some were animals, some were not, and some were a mixture of both.

"Welcome, Heroes of Earth!" Said a deep but welcoming voice. A woman in her twenties strolled down the stairs. She was dressed in a beautiful purple gown. "Welcome, Captain America, Dare Devil, Human Torch, Wolverine, and Spider-Man. You are in my Hall of Heroes." "Look, lady, what is going on here?" "Yes, well, I suppose you deserve an explanation." "Suppose?" Objected Spider-Man.

"You were submitted into the Universal Tournament of Heroes. It is a great honor to be selected. Heroes from each planet are taken to the House of Heroes, where each lives during the tournament. The rest is self-explanatory. Each planet's heroes go through challenges, tasks, and battles. The winners are put in the Hall of Heroes, and receive eternal glory. It's been a few hundred years since your planet was selected. I suppose your hero rate is high off the charts, eh?" "What the hell are you talking about? I want to go home now!" Wolverine snapped.

"I'm afraid you can not do that. You can not drop out. Once you are in, you are in. But if you want to go, it'll be a few seconds until you die of lack of oxygen." "What?" He said, moving towards a window. His mouth dropped drastically. "We're in space?" "Yes. In the Quarantine nebula." "What? Our planet doesn't even know this damned place exists!" "Well, that's lack of intelligence, my human friend." "I'll knock your intelligence right off pal!" The girl laughed. "My name is Landra. I am the Headmistress of the House of Heroes. Please go to your holding room until we arrive at Planet Basure. The House of Heroes is there."

The speechless heroes walked solemnly to Holding Room 5. They sat down and starred at the floor. All except Spider-Man. "So...we're in a tournament...this is...great." "What!" All the others screamed simultaneously. "Don't you guys get it? On earth, well, basically New York, we're underdogs. Okay, maybe I'm an underdog. I'm laughed at and accused of crimes. Don't you see? This is my-our chance!" "Our chance for what?" "For what I've-We've been looking for all along. For eternal glory. For redemption."
