RWBY Reacts to Yu-Gi-Oh 5d's Dubbed
Episode 4 – A Blast From The Past PART 1
"Wow Ruby, you were right." Jaune commented. "That was a pretty cool opening."
Pyrrha also liked the opening while Ren simply nodded in agreement.
"Told you!" Ruby said with a smile.
Nora pouted with her arms crossed. "Now I'm disappointed we didn't get to see it last time."
"Yeah, yeah the opening was great." Yang said impatiently. "Now can we please start the episode already? I want to see Jack get his just comeuppance!"
As if the TV heard Yang the episode started where the last one ended.
"So Yusei," Jack began. "you made good time, didn't ya. I hope officer Trudge didn't inconvenience you too much. Please don't take it personally. He's just doing what I pay him to do."
"Well your little lapdog is currently buried under mountains of garbage so yeah, not much of an inconvenience." Yang stated without emotion.
Jaune was a bit surprised by Yang's tone. "Harsh."
"But not untrue." Weiss added.
Jack continued. "Now then, what brings you here?"
"I want my Stardust Dragon back." Yusei revealed.
Jack smirked as he asked "And I guess you'll be wanting your runner back as well?"
"I don't need it." Yusei answered.
Yusei managed to baffle Yang. "He's… he's joking right? He… he'd rather have his card back then his runner?! He flipping made that ride! I'd much rather have the runner back then the card!"
"Well Yusei does have a new runner so he doesn't really need his first one anymore." Pyrrha pointed out.
"He can still use it as a spare!" Yang all but shouted.
"So it's just the card?" Jack asked to make certain. "I would have thought you'd move on by now, since it seems you've gotten over losing your runner already. By the way, how's the new one treating ya?"
"I got no complaints." Yusei informed him. "And how's the one you stole from me? Still running well I hope."
Jack smirked again. "You never could let go of anything, could you Yusei?"
Ruby was confused by Jack's statement. "Wha- Yusei just said he doesn't want his runner back! So why would Jack say-"
"I think Jack's referring to Yusei breaking out of the Satellite just to get back at him." Blake assumed.
"I never was one to forgive and forget." Yusei answered.
Blake felt validated but had to point out one thing. "Yusei's more forgiving then he gives himself credit for. He's going after Jack yes, but after he beat Lenny he was pretty quick to forgive him for injuring his friends and trying to steal his runner."
"Soooo, what? Stealing his motorcycle and hurting his friends is forgivable but stealing one of his cards is crossing the line?" Jaune asked thinking Yusei didn't have his priorities straight.
"Well Lenny at least, sort of, apologized for what he did." Weiss put in. "Jack on the other hand doesn't seem sorry at all."
Yusei continued. "Now where's my card?"
"What's the rush?" Jack asked in a confident manner. "Don't you wanna catch up on old times?"
Yusei clenched his fist. "I want to know where my Stardust Dragon is!"
The gang looked quite surprised at Yusei's outburst. "Guess even someone as seemingly calm as Yusei has his limits."
Yang agreed with Pyrrha. "Yeah, he's acting like how Ruby would act if someone stole her Crescent Rose."
Ruby pouted as she could not deny that.
"Oh, you mean this old thing here?" Jack asked before pulling out Yusei's Stardust Dragon card. "Does it still look the same?"
"How could you Jack?" Yusei asked in a hurt tone.
"That card was wasting away with you in the Satellite." Jack claimed as his reason. "I couldn't bear to watch it sit in the hands of a loser."
Yang started to clench her fist as she wished she could somehow punch Jack in his face.
"But Jack, how could you take it when you knew it was the only hope our friends had of getting out of the Satellite." Yusei reminisced. "It was meant to help us all."
Weiss let out an exhausted sigh. "At this point, I've accepted they're never going to explain how."
Jack smiled. "Well it certainly helped me when I got to New Domino City."
Yang couldn't take it anymore and stood up. "All right smart ass, listen up! You either give that card back to Yusei or else-"
"And to show my thanks, you can have your precious dragon-card back."
Yang's rant suddenly halted and was replaced by honest confusion. "Wait what?"
"Here take it!" Jack said as he threw the card to Yusei, who successfully caught it. "I sure don't need it anymore."
"…Huh?" Said everyone but Saixus as their heads tilted sideways.
"He just… gave it back without fight?" Jaune stated confused. "Why?"
"The way he said it makes it sound like there was a reason he needed Stardust Dragon, but now he no longer does." Blake summarized.
"But they make it sound like Stardust Dragon is a really strong card." Nora pointed out. "Why just give it back like that?"
"I'm more curious what Yusei's gonna do now." Pyrrha said which caused the others to focus on her. "Yusei sneaked into the city specifically to get his card back and now he has it. Is he simply going back home now and leave Jack be?"
Yang didn't like that idea as she tried to throw away her current confusion over Jack's actions. "So what? Yusei should still try and get some kind of payback against Jack! Heck, I'm pretty sure Ruby wouldn't forgive someone for stealing her baby simply because they returned it to her."
"I mean…" Ruby wasn't sure what she would do in Yusei's place. "Maybe if they're really sorry…"
Yang forgot for a second that this was her sister she was talking about and sighed.
Ren was more confused by something else. "How did Jack manage to throw that card to Yusei without any kind of wind-resistance?"
Saixus sighed, of course SOMEONE still noticed that.
Yusei took a good look at his Stardust Dragon-card and appeared to be deep in thought.
Yang grunted her teeth. "I swear, if he's just gonna drive away-"
Jack cut Yang off. "What now Yusei? Are you having second thoughts?"
Without muttering a single word, Yusei threw Stardust Dragon back at Jack.
Yusei sudden action took the whole group by surprise.
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!" Weiss yelled in disbelief. "THAT CARD WAS THE WHOLE REASON YOU CAME HERE IN THE FIRST PLACE!"
Yang on the other hand grinned. "Good on ya, Yusei!" For a second she actually thought Yusei would just leave.
"This throw's even more impossible then the one Jack did." Ren said more confused about that than anything else. Jack throwing the card down towards Yusei he may have bought, but throwing the card upwards?
Saixus let out another sigh. "Ren, remember that advice I gave you guys about the inaccurate-timer last episode? Apply that here."
"No Jack." Yusei answered as he stepped off his Duel-Runner. "I want the card but I want to make you pay for what you did more. And when I beat you, then I'll take my card back."
Blake didn't know what to think of this development. "I… can't decide if he has his priorities straight or if he's blinded by thoughts of revenge."
"What you wanted Yusei to just leave without getting payback?" Yang asked her partner in a stoic tone.
"I think Yusei made the right call." Surprisingly Ruby of all people stated. "Like I said, I'd probably forgive someone for stealing Crescent Rose as long as they returned it and are genuinely sorry for stealing it. Jack however doesn't seem sorry at all. Though I will admit, I wouldn't throw Crescent Rose back at them for the life of me. Especially after only just getting it back."
Weiss had her eyes closed and arms crossed. "I suppose it would be a little anticlimactic of him to simple go back home after all he had to do to get to New Domino City. But did he really have to throw Stardust Dragon back? He would have an easier time beating Jack with that dragon in his deck. Now Jack's free to use it against him."
"I'll admit it may not have been the greatest tactical decision," Yang admitted. "but now when Yusei beats him, no one can say that he doesn't deserve to have his card back."
Jack smirked (He's gonna be doing that a lot). "You always were a dreamer. Well get ready, because here comes your wake-up call!"
Some time passes as Jack and Yusei drive towards the stadium, passing by several skyscrapers on their way there.
"How many skyscrapers does this city have?" Jaune asked in awe.
"I have a better question!" Nora stated as she showed her empty popcorn box to Saixus. "Can I have some more popcorn?"
Saixus simply nodded before refilling Nora's popcorn with a snap of his fingers.
"Thanks!" Nora said happily.
"When are you gonna tell me where we're heading Jack?" Yusei asked impatiently.
"Uh Yusei, maybe you should think twice about following this guy around…" Pyrrha said in a worried tone.
"Stop your worrying. And enjoy the view already." Jack advised.
Yusei looked sideways and got a pretty sweet view of center-Domino.
The viewers were impressed. "This city is indeed very impressive. It screams futuristic. It may even be more impressive then Atlas."
Weiss pouted at Ren's summary but couldn't deny that the city did look really impressive.
"So what do you think of New Domino City?" Jack asked. "It's a little step up from the Satellite, isn't it? But if you get homesick, I'm sure I can find a trash-bin for you to play in."
"Keep talking like that and you'll be the one stuck in a trash-bin." Yang muttered angrily.
"Are we gonna duel or are you gonna play tour-guide all night?" Yusei fired back.
Jack was not impressed. "Well, since you worked so hard to get here, I'd figure I'd show you the sights before you get shipped back to the Satellite Sector."
"We'll see about that." Yusei replied.
"Yes we will." Jack replied back.
Yang was not impressed. "If Jack duels as well as he comes up with comebacks, then Yusei has nothing to worry about."
They started to arrive at their destination as Jack said "Looks like we're here. Welcome, to the KaibaDome!"
The arena looked pretty familiar to the RWBY girls. "Hey, that's the arena from the first episode!" Ruby pointed out.
Pyrrha was curious. "Why is this arena called the KaibaDome?"
"Well we know it was a guy called Seto Kaiba who created the hologram-technology." Ruby informed them. "Maybe it was named after him."
"His company created the arena so it's not that big of a surprise." Saixus stated with a bit of a frown. Only the dubbed-version of Yu-Gi-Oh 5d's called this place the KaibaDome. The subbed-version called it Memorial Circuit.
"…He named an entire arena after himself?" Ren asked a little flabbergasted that someone would name an arena after themselves.
"Well his company's called KaibaCorp, but to be fair it was already called that before Seto took over. But as for why he would name an entire arena after himself… let's just say that Seto's many things, but humble isn't one of them."
Weiss let out a frustrated sigh because she could see her father doing the exact same thing. Heck, she wouldn't be surprised if he used his first-name instead.
As the duo started to approach the arena, a security-camera took notice of the two arrivals.
The sudden camera caused the viewers to stiffen. "Oh no! Yusei's been spotted!" Ruby said in worry.
"Hopefully the guy behind the camera's asleep." Yang hoped.
"I wonder how the people of the city would react if they saw Jack escorting Yusei around…" Jaune pondered.
"Considering how much the people of Domino seem to look down on Satellites, seeing their champion hang out with one could most certainly damage his reputation." Weiss stated as Pyrrha frowned. Sounds like the paparazzi in this world would also take whatever chance they got to discredit someone.
We suddenly switch over to a large skyscraper with a massive communication-disc on the roof.
"What's this place?" Jaune wondered out loud.
"Maybe some kind of communication building?" Blake reasoned. "Or maybe the place where all the city's security-footage ends up in."
"Whoaaaaaoahoaaooaoahaaagh!" A very eccentric man wearing orange-glasses and a lab-coat yelled as he spun around like a record. "So you see?"
All the students looked unsure what to think of this… unique individual as they once again tilted their heads.
"See what professor?" A random board-member asked. "An excuse to get dizzy?"
Ruby noticed the guy up front. "Hey look! It's that Goodwin-guy again."
Jaune turned to her and asked "Who's Goodwin?"
"We believe he's either Jack's manager, sponsor or something among those lines." Yang answered.
"No!" The professor rebutted. "An incredible break-through! Our spinning generator has gone into… into overdrive!" He demonstrated his point by spinning his arms around. "See? Just like this, watch the arms people! Whoaaaaaaoo!"
"…This guy… is a professor…" Weiss said slowly as she could feel another head-ache coming up.
"I didn't know scientists could be so…" Pyrrha tried thinking of a friendly way to say it.
"I know just what you're thinking!" The brown-haired scientist claimed as he kept spinning around. "Is this a big new dance-craz or what?!"
"…I've got nothing." Pyrrha admitted.
Nora however tried copying the scientist spinning-moves and said "Hey this is actually kind of fun! Maybe we should try and do this dance next time there's a ball!"
"Nora please sit down." Jaune asked friendly but started looking green. "I'm getting dizzy just by watching you."
"Well, it's noooooot!" The professor said in an opera-tone as he stopped spinning for a second. "As you know, our generator powers cars, lights and WHaaaaooo-" He couldn't resist spinning some more. "Turbo-Duels! It controls the whole city! Everything we do!"
Weiss started to look past the doctor's quirks in favor of analyzing what he just said. "Their entire city is powered but a single generator? That's actually really interesting! What kind of energy-source do they use?"
Blake thought it over. "I would say Dust, but giving that there are no Grimms, Auras or Semblances in this world, I'm doubting Dust exists here."
"It does not." Saixus confirmed Blake's theory.
"Then what does that generator use as a substitute?" Weiss asked Saixus curiously. If this generator could power a whole city without problem then maybe they could use it for their own cities.
"You're gonna have to keep watching." Saixus stated as Weiss crossed her arms in dissatisfaction. Saixus wasn't gonna spoil the dueling-energy yet. Weiss' reaction would be too good to miss out on.
Goodwin deadpanned. "Professor we know all of that. We're just wondering why you called us to this meeting at half-past midnight. And it had better be important."
Ruby felt a little sorry for Goodwin. Having to wake up so late just to attend a meeting could not be fun. "Scientists can just wake up their bosses whenever they want?"
Weiss decided to answer. "Ordinarily, no. Unless they've made some important discovery that can't wait until the morning."
The professor looked up at Goodwin and said "Well yes! Yes it is, sir."
"Then you can stop your dancing and get to the point, or should I begin looking for a new director of engineering."
While Weiss was glad Goodwin called the wacky doctor out on wasting their time, she couldn't help but deadpan. "…This guy is their director of engineering… Seriously?!"
"Then what does that make Goodwin?" Pyrrha wondered out loud. "I don't think the manager of a racing-urhm, Dueling-Champion would be included in a meeting like this."
Saixus decided to clarify. "Goodwin's the director in charge of Sector Security."
This was quite a surprising bit of info not just to JNPR but RWBY as well. "He's in charge of Sector Security?" Weiss asked to confirm to which Saixus nodded. "That… would explain how Jack managed to set up that trap for Yusei but… but it doesn't make any sense. What need would the head of Security have for a Dueling-Champion?"
"Maybe to draw in some good publicity for his forces?" Jaune theorized with a shrug.
The professor laughed for a bit while a red-screen started to lower behind him. "Just watch the big screen mister Goodwin." Multiple diagrams of the generator started to overlap one another. "It appears there's more energy being produced by this generator then we ever thought was possible."
Weiss perked up at that info as she temporary put the whole Goodwin-Jack connection aside. "Ruby, please tell me you're memorizing these designs."
"Why Weiss, it's like you don't know me at all." Ruby said in a mock tone. While she was more interested in weapons, the chance to look at the designs of an alien generator was not one that came every day. However, she quickly came to an unfortunate conclusion. "…I have no idea how this generator is supposed to work."
This actually surprised the students of Beacon. They were very well aware of Ruby's mechanical skills so to hear she couldn't figure out how this generator was supposed to work came as a bit of a shock.
"Never thought I'd see the day Ruby can't figure out how something works." Yang voiced out.
"It's just…" Ruby tried to put it in words. "I get the basic structure of the generator but I don't understand what it's supposed to confer into energy. I'm not seeing anything like a Dust-storage and I don't recognize the circuits in this thing! Where is all this energy coming from? How can this one generator generate enough to power a whole city?! This thing makes absolutely no sense to me!"
Weiss let out a sigh as Ruby was having a mental breakdown. She was really hoping to get a handle on this generator. If they could power their cities with this instead of Dust, it could solve all kinds of energy debacles. Of course Weiss knew her father would not agree with this. A large amount of his income originates from Dust that's used to power the cities.
The professor continued as we now got a look of the generator itself. "It's like a perpetual-motion machine. The more energy it produces, the more powerful it becomes!"
Seeing the generator itself, Weiss could understand why Ruby can't figure out how it worked. "I-I've never seen a generator like this before!"
"Look at the size of that thing!" Ruby stated with stars in her eyes. She really wanted to understand how that thing worked.
"Oooh, pretty." Nora commented about the rainbow-colored discs inside the generator.
Pyrrha however was worried by the description the professor gave them. "It becomes more powerful the more it produces? If that's true then shouldn't these guys be worried about possible overloads? If the energy inside becomes too powerful for the generator to handle then-"
Weiss cut her off. "I'm pretty sure they took the necessary safety precautions to prevent something like that from happening. If a generator like this were to explode from an overload, the damage would be catastrophic. No way these people are reckless enough to allow the generated energy to become too powerful."
Weiss missed the uncomfortable face Saixus was making. Though to be fair, the first reactor exploded because someone made it explode on purpose.
"And guess what?" He asked with a grin. "As long as it keeps spinning round, a round, a round~, we sir, will be the masters of the universe!"
None of the students knew how to react to that. Not even Nora.
The scientist quickly corrected himself. "Ahem, I mean that YOU are master of the universe, mister Goodwin sir!"
Yang couldn't help but laugh at the scientist. He was too silly to take seriously. "Okay this guy's even more eccentric then professor Oobleck, and I never thought I'd say that."
"He sounds like one of those crazy scientists you read about in comics!" Jaune stated loudly as Ruby nodded in agreement.
"This is the guy in charge of the city's generator?" Pyrrha asked as this did not get rid of her worries.
"I-I'm pretty sure there are more people looking after the generator then just him!" Weiss declared, mostly to calm her own nerves down.
"Maybe he's been staring a bit too long at that generator." Nora said as a joke but no one could claim that wasn't the case.
Suddenly, a woman's voice cut the scientist off. "Pardon the intrusion."
Goodwin turned to his right as a lady in a professional uniform walked up to him. "Yes, Mina?"
"Who's the woman with the blue hair?" Jaune asked.
"Don't know." Ruby answered honestly. "We haven't seen her around before."
"Given the way she's dressed, I'd say she's a personal-assistant of sorts." Weiss surmised as the girl on screen yelled professionalism to her. A welcome change from the wacky professor.
Mina put her head aside from Goodwin's and whispered "Mister Atlas is missing."
"What?" This news surprised the director greatly. He turned his head to his director of engineering. "Professor?"
"Nyes~." The professor said with a slow-tone.
Goodwin stood up from his chair. "There's another problem I must attend to but this is all very intriguing. I want you to find out exactly what this power-supply is capable of. And professor? Next time save it till the morning."
"Of course sir." The scientist bowed as Goodwin left the room.
"Uhm, what did Goodwin mean by 'find out exactly what this power-supply is capable of'?" Jaune asked.
"My guess is Goodwin wants to know exactly how much energy the generator can create and how powerful it can become." Ruby answered. "Maybe he wants to know if the energy can be used for more than just powering a city."
"What like power up weapons or something?" Yang asked before another thought entered her head. "Who would they even use those on if there are no Grimm in this world?"
"I think you'd agree that humanity has little trouble fighting against itself." Saixus answered which caused the students to frown. "But to lessen your worries, Goodwin has no interest in weapons of mass destruction."
Apart from the giant demon he wants to summon to destroy the world and the dragon he wants to control to rebuild it.
Goodwin hurried his way to the security-center with Mina not far behind. "So what you're saying is that Jack just vanished. I assigned you to be his personal-handler. Now if anything unfortunate should happen to him, I'm holding you personally responsible."
"Hey give her a break!" Ruby shouted. "It's not her fault that Jack decided to leave!"
"Now I'm feeling sorry for that girl." Yang stated. Being Jack's personal-handler could NOT be fun.
We now switch over to a massive observation room where multiple individuals where keeping watch over the city.
"Yeah I think somebody's bound to have noticed Yusei, Yang." Ruby stated which caused Yang to frown.
Above them was a class-window through which a short individual with grey hair was staring down. Said person was wearing a red coat with a white shirt underneath and white pants. He was also wearing blue earrings but his most noticeable features where the red lines on his face that run above and below his green eyes and his red colored lips.
"Uhm, who's the creepy guy with face-paint?" Yang asked, not sure what to think of this guy.
"Lazar." Saixus answered. "He's Goodwin's right-hand man and vice-president of Sector Security."
"…That guy is the vice-president?" Jaune asked with a hint of disbelief. "He looks like the kind of guy who would stab you in the back the second he meets you!"
Yang snickered a little. "No wonder Sector Security is such a joke. Their vice-president's dressed like a clown!"
"And that color of lipstick does NOT work for him." Weiss declared which caused the others to turn to her. "…What?"
Lazar stared down at the observers and thought 'Someday this will all be-'
"Lazar." Goodwin interrupted Lazar's line of thought.
Jaune had a deadpanned expression on his face. He's not the greatest when it comes to reading people but how could anyone look at Lazar and think he's trustworthy.
Lazar turned around and saw his boss enter. "Ah, my dear mister Goodwin." He bowed to greet him. "I've been waiting for you." Lazar then looked up and frowned when he spotted Mina. "Hm, I see you brought the troublemaker."
Weiss let out an exhausted sigh. "First we have the crazy professor being the director of engineering, and now a man with delusions of grandeur as the vice-president, while Mina, arguable the most normal and professional person we've seen so far is simply an assistant?!"
Yang started feeling even more sorry for the woman. "Whatever they're paying her, it's not enough."
Mina frowned at Lazar as she kept walking.
Lazar continued. "Well lucky for her we found mister Atlas, but we're not sure who's with him."
Goodwin however took one look at the monitor and knew right-away. "It's the Satellite-duelist, Yusei Fudo."
If this confused Lazar, he did not show it. "But sir, I thought it was highly illegal to duel against a Satellite-duelist."
"THAT'S WHAT HE HAS A PROBLEM WITH?!" Weiss yelled in disbelief. "NOT THE FACT THAT SAID SATELLITE-DUELIST IS IN THE CITY IN THE FIRST PLACE?!"
"Weiss, remember your blood-pressure." Yang told her part as a joke, and the other part in concern.
Goodwin stared at the screens and said "That's why what we see here, stays here. I want to see how Jack handles himself on his own." He explained. "But just in case, keep all guards on stand-by."
Ruby got worried. "Oh-uh, if Sector Security seals off the arena then Yusei will have nowhere to go even if he wins his duel with Jack!"
"Goodwin wants to prevent any bad press from coming out of this duel." Pyrrha realized, knowing full well that such cover-ups happen all the time with famous people. She could remember quite a few people who, much to her disappointment, offered to 'take care' of any bad press against her. "As director of Sector Security, he'll have little problem getting rid of any incriminating evidence against Jack."
"Including Yusei himself." Ren said as the others started getting more and more worried.
We go back to the stadium where Yusei and Jack are currently present.
Yusei looked around for a bit while Jack talked to him. "This duel-dome's impressive, isn't it? Television just doesn't do it justice. Now imagine it filled with thousands of adoring fans. All of them chanting your name and cheering you on."
"Something we'll experience soon enough." Ruby mentioned, referring to the Vytal Festival. "It's still a little strange to think about. I always loved watching the festival back home, but now I'm competing in it myself. It's… a little nerve-racking to be honest."
Jaune shared Ruby's nervousness. "You're telling me. The only two of us who know what it's like to stand on stage are Pyrrha and Weiss." He then turned to his partner and the heiress and asked "You girls have any tips we could use?"
Pyrrha thought it over. "My best advice would be not to focus on the crowd too much. Just focus on your battles and everything will be all right."
Weiss nodded in agreement. "When you're on the stage you don't have time to worry about the people watching you. That could cause you to make mistakes that you can't afford."
Jack frowned as his gaze landed on Yusei. "But that's something you're never going to experience Yusei. Cuz after this duel, the only people who'll be cheering you on will be your loser-friends back in the Satellite. And that's if they don't all turn their backs on you once you return without their Stardust Dragon." He then pulled the card out and a bright light reflected from it straight into Yusei's eyes. Said light came from the spotters above the stadium that had been turned on. "I wish I could be there to see their faces when you try explaining to them how you had their card, but got greedy and turned it down in order to duel me."
"That's… a good point." Jaune admitted. "I can't imagine Yusei's friends will be happy to learn he just handed that card back to Jack."
"Nah, they'd understand." Yang was certain. "Those guys seemed way to tight to get mad over a single card."
"You're gonna regret ever coming here Yusei." Jack claimed as he put Stardust Dragon back in his deck. "Cuz I'm gonna beat you with your own card."
Unknown to Jack and Yusei, Goodwin, Lazar and Mina were watching their interaction on the screen.
'This should be interesting.' Goodwin thought.
Jack sat down on his Duel-Runner and lowered the glasses in his helmet. Yusei's Duel-Runner soon spoke up. "TURBO-DUEL ACTIVATED." Yusei then lowered the glasses in his own helmet as he got ready to duel.
Jack stood at the starting-line ahead of Yusei and remarked "Now then, try not to get scared, will ya? This course can be really rough on first-timers."
"Yusei's been racing through a ruined train-tunnel at speeds of over 200 kilometers an hour." Blake voiced out in a deadpanned tone. "I think he can handle an arena-circuit without obstacles."
Jack pressed a button on his Duel-Runner and the AI spoke up once again. "DUEL MODE ENGAGED. AUTOPILOT STANDING BY." A purple-circle erupted from both their Duel-Runners and the entire arena started being engulfed in a purple light.
Nora looked mesmerized by the sudden light. "Oooh! Purpely!"
"Everything seems to turn a little purple whenever a Turbo-Duel's about to start." Blake turned to Saixus. "Why is that?"
Saixus shrugged his shoulders. "No clue. Maybe because the holograms turn out better in a purple background but other than that I'm as clueless as you."
Yusei's and Jack's engines started vrooming as their life-point scoreboards appeared. They then both at the same time yelled "Let's ride!"
Jack and Yusei are off with Jack taking an early lead on Yusei. As they approached the first turn of the course, both Jack and Yusei started driving on the glass-surface build on the side of the road. Jack had no problem with this but Yusei shook a bit before going back to the ground.
Ruby eeped in excitement. "They can drive on the glass-surface too?!"
"Guess Jack wasn't kidding when he said the course could be rough on a first-timer." Ren stated as Blake had to withdraw her previous statement.
Weiss however didn't know what to think. "I'm sorry but that glass-reeling seems really dangerous. Imagine if you drive-up that reeling at full-speed. You can end up catapulting yourself into the air!"
Pyrrha agreed with Weiss. "That is possible-"
"No it isn't." Yang quickly rebottled. "I doubt that newbies are allowed on that circuit without being made aware of the risks. Besides, the only way I can see Weiss' prediction come to pass, is if someone drives up like that on purpose. Even I'm not reckless enough a driver to do something like that."
…Yeah, nobody believed her.
Jack and Yusei continued riding as Jack spoke. "Yusei, I always did enjoy dueling you. We've been battling with these monsters in our decks since we were kids. And this old friend, is gonna be a trip down memory-lane."
Ruby looked sad at that statement. He and Yusei had been friends with one another for that long? What could have happened to tear their friendship apart…
"Here's to history." Yusei stated as he summoned his first monster. "I summon Quillbolt Hedgehog in defense-mode."
A brown-colored hedgehog with bolts for quills appeared on the field before turning blue.
Ruby's sadness was instantly replaced with a gaze of joy. "Aaaaww! That guy looks soooo cute!"
Weiss agreed but tried to hide it. "I suppose it is rather charming… for a rodent."
"I want that hedgehog as a pet!" Nora stated happily.
Blake didn't wanna ruin their happiness but "I wouldn't get too attached. With only 800 defense-points, it will likely get destroyed on Jack's turn."
"Well…" Jack stopped talking for a second as if he was reminiscing. "Now isn't that a blast from the past." His and Yusei's speed-counters went up before he drew a card from his deck. "As is this! My Mad Archfiend!"
A fiend with red-hair appeared on the field. It had a mouth in its stomach in which rested a skull. It's attack-points appeared and read 1800.
"WHAT THE HECK IS THAT THING?!" Nora shouted out loud. Going from a cute hedgehog to a nightmarish fiend was not wat she was expecting.
"That thing's the scariest monster we've seen so far." Jaune declared and both Ren and Pyrrha agreed.
"We've seen Jack use that monster before in a flashback." Ruby informed them. "In fact, that's the monster Jack used to win their previous duel."
Weiss started to turn green as she remembered the specific way this monster attacks.
AI time. "When Mad Archfiend attacks a monster in defense-mode, if its attack is greater than the defending monster's defense-points, the opponent still takes damage."
Pyrrha recalled from Saixus mind-flash that usually attacking a defending monster does not affect your opponent's life-points. "So that Archfiend can still damage Yusei even though his monster is in defense-mode?"
"Yep." Saixus answered. "And it's the difference in their attack and defense that's gonna get subtracted from Yusei's life-points."
"So a thousand points total then?" Ren quickly calculated. "That's not good. The duel's just started and Yusei's already about to lose one-fourth of his life-points."
"Not to mention that cute hedgehog's about to get destroyed!" Nora yelled in protest as she and the other girls started getting misty-eyed.
"Well Yusei, this is just like old times." Jack said as he started turning his Duel-Runner around causing him to drive backwards on the glass-reeling. "Just 200 miles per hour faster!"
"HE'S DRIVING BACKWARDS ON THE REELING AT 200 MILES PER HOUR?!" Weiss shouted as both she and the others stared wide-eyed at the screen.
"That's…" Blake didn't believe what she was about to say. "That's even more reckless then any of Yang's driving! He's already driving at an incredible speed, but doing so backwards?!"
Jaune turned to Yang and asked "Can you drive backwards like that Yang?"
Backwards as in go in reverse for a little bit, sure. Driving full-speed on a glass-ceiling without even looking backwards though? "…Let me get back with you on that."
"Now Mad Archfiend, stick it to that Quillbolt!" Jack ordered as the fiend started chowing down the skull in its stomach before shooting the fragments at Yusei's hedgehog.
"And once again," Weiss muttered while looking green. "I'm about to lose my dinner."
"Man that is sick!" Nora declared but that did not prevent her from eating her popcorn. She then cried as the hedgehog got destroyed. "But why did that cutie have to die first?!"
Ren turned to her and said. "Nora I know you're sad but try not to talk with your mouth full. You're leaving half-chewed popcorn all over team RWBY's floor."
Jack saw the irony of that move. "Things seem to have started the way our last duel ended. With you losing precious life-points!"
Yusei grunted as his life-points dropped to 3000, causing him to also lose his only speed-counter. "You'll regret doing that Jack."
"Yusei," Jack began as he started driving normally again. "the only thing I'm gonna regret is that this duel isn't being broadcast to the millions of fans around the globe who cheer for me night after night! They've earned the right the witness my greatest challenge ever, and my greatest victory. You do realize that you're gonna end up losing this battle tonight, don't you?"
"You know." Nora mumbled before swallowing the remaining popcorn in her mouth. "What I'm gonna say next might sound crazy-"
"Nora, it being crazy has literally never stopped you from saying it." Jaune deadpanned.
Nora continued. "But this Jack guy seems like some sort of weird combination between Yang and Weiss."
The others wisely decided to stay out of this while Yang and Weiss looked at Nora as if she had completely lost it.
"Hey it's true!" Nora said before pointing at the screen. "That guy's every bit as confident and cocky as Yang, but he also thinks very high and mighty of himself. And we all know how Weiss used to be at the beginning of the schoolyear."
Yang tisked angrily but couldn't deny the bomber had a point. She was very confident in her abilities and when she gets into a fight, she revels in the challenge.
Weiss looked in thought and also had to admit Nora was right. Placing yourself on a high-pedestal like Jack's doing? It was almost a spitting image of how she used to be before coming to Beacon and as much as she wanted to deny it, she could sometimes still feel that need to prove herself.
Both Yang and Weiss then simultaneously said "That's absolutely ridiculous!" They then blinked and looked at each other before quickly turning their heads the other way.
Jaune and Pyrrha were impressed by Nora's insight while Ren had a small smile on his face. It sometimes scares the ninja how deep Nora can be at times.
"Also the guy has blond hair and purple eyes just like Yang, and wears white just like Weiss." Nora pointed out. "How could anyone not think Jack's a combination of you two?"
Everyone just stared at the pink bomber in silence while Ren let out a sigh.
"You just keep talking Jack." Yusei shot back.
Back with our three viewers.
"There's no need for you to be concerned mister Goodwin." Lazar assured him. "This Satellite, he's nothing. I will have him arrested and that will put an end to all of this silliness once and for all." Lazar's smirk grew. "And then, we can ship this Yusei off to the Facility where he won't cause any more problems. Just say the word and my men will stop this."
"I really don't like this Lazar." Blake stated with a frown.
"I wonder why Goodwin isn't putting a stop to this right away." Jaune wondered. "It doesn't seem like he's planning to stop the duel anytime soon."
"He has some sort of interest in Jack." Pyrrha said as she thought it over. "Maybe he's hoping Jack will learn something from this fight?"
"I'm up to speed!" Yusei declared as both him and Jack received a speed-counter and he drew a card. "And now I can summon Junk Synchron to the field in attack-mode!"
Junk Synchron appeared on the field but Jack did not look impressed as he thought 'My blender's got more horsepower.'
Yang rolled her eyes while doing her best not to snicker. She refused to laugh at anything Jack would say or think.
Suddenly a massive copy of the card 'Quillbolt Hedgehog' appeared besides Yusei. "Remember when I said you'd regret taking out my Quillbolt? Well here's why. See thanks to my Junk Synchron's special-ability, I can bring it back to the field."
"Yay!" Nora cheered. "The hardcore hedgehog's coming back!"
"And since he has Junk Synchron out, we all know who's gonna show up next, don't we?" Ruby stated to which team RWBY nodded while JNPR assumed they were talking about Junk Warrior.
Quillbolt reappeared on the field but Jack was still not impressed. "Big deal, Yusei. You need to do better!"
Yusei grunted at Jack's taunt. "And I will!" Junk Synchron started to light-up as he turned into three synchro-rings that quickly surrounded Quillbolt Hedgehog. "I tune my Junk Synchron with my Quillbolt Hedgehog to synchro-summon, Junk Warrior!" Yusei's hedgehog turned itself into two stars before the synchro-summon completed. "Let's rev it up!"
Junk Warrior appeared, ready to take Jack down.
"Sheesh, Yusei sure likes his Junk Warrior doesn't he?" Yang asked sarcastically. "We've seen him use this guy in every episode so far."
Ruby did not complain. "Well he is pretty awesome. If Penny were here, she'd think he's pretty awesome too!"
Weiss didn't hear Ruby. "Sorry, what was that about Penny?"
"Uh nothing!" Ruby quickly stated, causing the others to look at her before shrugging it off, allowing Ruby to let out a sigh of relief.
Jack continued to be unimpressed. "If that's the best you've got, you're in trouble."
Yusei did not agree. "I think the only thing in trouble right now is your Mad Archfiend. Junk Warrior, send him to the scrap-heap!"
Junk Warrior replied by punching Mad Archfiend straight in his mouth-stomach, causing him to explode into shining fragments. This attack also caused Jack's life-points to drop by 500, leaving him with 3500.
"Alright Yus!" Yang cheered. "Keep at it and show Jack what we think of bike-thieves!"
"Yusei's got the lead for now." Ren stated. "The question is if he can keep it."
"Hm, it's my turn now." Jack said as soon as the attack was over. He drew his next card with was shown to be a trap-card with the picture of an astronaut on it, surrounded by metal-buildings, looking at a strange rainbow-colored light. Jack smirked as soon as he saw it. He put the card aside for the moment and played another monster. "I summon Twin-Shield Defender in defense-mode."
Jack's new monster was a warrior who carried two-halves of a shield in each of his hands. He quickly pulled both halves in front of him, creating a single shield with an eye on each piece. Despite this shield however, his defense-points were only 1600.
Jack then took the card he drew and placed it in his Duel-Disk. "Plus I'll throw down a little face-down for later."
Nora was not impressed. "Pfft, you call that a monster? Yusei's warrior will punch it to bits in no time."
"Looks like Jack's going on the defensive." Jaune noted.
"Well Yusei's warrior does have 2300 attack-points." Weiss reminded him. "Playing it safe seems like the best choice."
"Is anyone else worried about that trap he just pulled?" Ruby asked. "Because Jack sure looked pleased to see it."
Blake mentally agreed with Ruby. Jack didn't seem like the kind of guy who would be satisfied with simply protecting himself. Something told her Jack had a plan in mind.
Yusei mentally agreed with Blake. 'Hmm, I don't like this at all. It's not like Jack to toy around. He usually cuts right to the chase. What are you planning?'
"To be fair, it's probably been a long time since Jack and Yusei dueled each other." Pyrrha pointed out. "Jack's play-style could have easily changed since then."
"You thinking about giving up already?" Jack taunted. "You can if you like."
Yusei frowned at Jack before starting his turn. "I summon Speed Warrior!" Speed Warrior appeared in front of Junk Warrior before Yusei continued. "And now his 900 attack-points are added to Junk Warrior's."
Saixus face-palmed.
"But you know that already, don't ya Jack?" Yusei inquired. "It's the same combo I used back in the Satellite to get Security off your back. If it weren't for me and my Junk Warrior, you might still be rotting in the Facility."
Ruby frowned again while Yang grunted her teeth. "Yusei got him out of jail and the bastard repays him by stealing his ride?! I hope he crashes the next time he rides backwards!"
Jack did not seem thankful. "What do you want, a thank you? Well you're not getting one."
Yusei grunted. "And now, due to my Speed Warrior's special-ability, his attack-points are doubled. So say goodbye to your Twin-Shield defender!"
Speed Warrior shined bright blue as he rushed towards Jack's only monster and delivered a powerful left-kick right in the monster's face.
Another attack Yang and Blake wanted to add to their repertoire. Ren and Pyrrha were considering the same thing.
However as Twin-Shield Defender left the field, a strange purple smoke appeared in its place. Yusei was surprised but Jack smirked. "And you can say goodbye to half of your Junk Warrior's attack-points now. See by destroying my Twin-Shield Defender, you activated its special-ability. Bet you're glad Sector Security wasn't as prepared as I am when you stepped in to save me."
As Jack was reminiscing, Junk Warrior got surrounded by the purple fog, causing his attack-points to drop to 1600.
"Really? Because you just left yourself wide-open for an attack." Yusei stated but looked unsure when he noticed Jack's face-down. 'Just as long as that card stays face-down.'
Blake looked worried. "I'm pretty sure that face-down's some sort of trap Jack wants Yusei to trigger."
Yang agreed with her partner. "Yeah, that face-down is making all kinds of alarms go off in my head."
"Then maybe Yusei should reconsider his attack." Pyrrha said out loud.
Nora however wasn't worried. "Oh please, I doubt whatever trap he set for Yusei's that dangerous. Besides, he'll never beat Jack if he doesn't go on the attack."
Yusei decided to risk it. "I've been waiting to do this since our last duel Jack!"
Jack simply smirked.
Yang was 100% sure now. "Yep, it's a trap."
"Junk Warrior, attack him directly!" The depowered Junk Warrior still had 1600 attack-points as he rushed toward Jack as fast as he could, dropping Jack's life-points all the way down to 1900 and making him lose a speed-counter as well. For some odd reason though, Jack's life-points were shown as attack-points instead.
This confused Ruby. "Uhm, why are Jack's life-points shown as attack-points?"
"Animation-error." Saixus answered.
"But didn't you say this show-"
"Show's what happened in another universe yes." Saixus finished for Ruby. "But things like the life-, attack- and defense-points boards were added so viewers would have an easier time following the game.
"Well then one of those animators messed up big-time." Yang concluded.
Jack's smirk did not leave his face. "Remember how you said you saved me Yusei?"
Yusei looked up. "Yes?"
"Well the whole thing was a set-up to get me closer to your runner!" Jack revealed. "And that dragon-card of yours was an added bonus!"
"WHAT?!" Yang yelled out in disbelief. "That no good son of a-"
Yusei refused to believe that. "That is a lie!"
"Wishful thinking Yusei." Jack responded. "See I knew exactly what your Duel-Runner was capable off, and when I saw an opportunity I took it!"
Yusei berated himself in his head. 'How could I be so blind?!'
Ruby fell sorry for Yusei. "I can't even imagine what it must feel like to have your friend trick you like that."
The others agreed with Ruby while Saixus was torn about what to do. The entire Yusei saving Jack from the Facility thing did NOT happen in the sub and contradicts what's gonna be shown later in the show. In the end, Saixus decided to keep quiet about it.
Just then, Jack moved his hand to his face-down. "They say the truth will set you free but in this case," Jack then activated said face-down. "it's gonna cost ya. And by activating my Spacegate trap-card, you're never going to get your precious Stardust Dragon back!"
Jaune recognized the card. "It's the trap Jack drew on his last turn!"
"Guess we're about to find out what it does." Ren said nonchalantly.
Jack continued "Yusei, once this duel's over I'm sending you back to the Satellite where garbage like you belongs! And with my Spacegate trap-card in play, I'm about to kick this duel into overdrive!"
"Welp, guess this confirms that overdrive's Jack's catchphrase." Ruby commented.
"He doesn't deserve a catchphrase that lying little-" Yang muttered to herself.
Jack's Spacegate trap-card vanished but not before creating two shining stars that started to circle around Jack. "You see with this card for every time you attacked me, I got a Gate Counter. And thanks to you I'm already up to two. This reminds me of when you helped me in the Satellite. Sure you thought you were doing the right thing, but in fact all you did was set yourself up for disappointment, just like now!"
Yusei took a card out and said "I guess I don't have any other option but to lay down a face-down."
"And now your warriors attack-points return to normal." Jack said as the blue-glow surrounding Speed Warrior and the purple-one surrounding Junk Warrior disappeared, causing Speed Warrior's attack-points to drop to 900 while Junk Warrior's rose to 3200.
Back at HQ. "See? It's only a matter of time before Jack wins mister Goodwin."
"This contest's still far from over, sir." Mina reminded Lazar.
Lazar scoffed at this. "Do you actually think this Satellite has a chance of winning? Because so far this pathetic example of a duelist has done only what Jack has let him do."
Lazar snickered to himself but Goodwin did not seem convinced. 'Don't underestimate this boy Jack.'
As if he was completely disregarding Goodwin's mental-advice, Jack started laughing. "Come on, get the lit out Yusei! I got the need! The need, for speed!"
"Sounds like a good name for a racing-game." Nora noted while Saixus was thinking about a certain movie.
"You're gonna have to take off your training-wheels if you want to keep up with me, hahaha!" Jack mocked as he turned his Duel-Runner around so that he could once again drive backwards. This time however, he was driving much closer to the edge of the glass-reeling, causing him to drive upside-down. "At least this way I can see you!"
"IS HE COMPLETELY MENTAL?!" Weiss shouted out in worry and unrest. "WHY DOES HE CONTINUE DOING THESE RECKLESS STUNTS?!"
"To show Yusei that he can." Blake assumed. "He wants to show Yusei just how far apart their skills are, so he's doing all these tricks to try and throw Yusei off his game."
"It's clear that Jack has had a lot of practice though." Pyrrha pointed out. "Jack might seem like a reckless individual but I doubt he could pull this backwards-riding off without constant training."
"And you have to admit…" Nora started saying. "That looks awesomer then awesome! I bet Yang wants to try this stunt too."
Yang refused to comment on that since she was currently torn. On the one hand she hated Jack with a passion, but she had to admit that Jack's riding was very impressive.
She refused to say it out loud though.
Yusei tried to sound unimpressed. "Just make your move already!"
"Eager for me to end this are you?" Jack inquired. "Well don't think it's gonna be as quick as I drive, because I plan on taking my time picking you apart. And when I'm through with you, you're gonna wish you never left the Satellite!"
"WILL YOU PLEASE DRIVE LIKE A NORMAL PERSON ALREADY?!" Weiss shouted as she had her hands before her eyes.
"I'm surprised he hasn't fallen off yet." Ren said out loud. Seriously, do the rules of physics not apply in this world?
"It's my turn!" Jack shouted as he drew his next card before returning to the ground.
"You can open your eyes now Weiss." Ruby let her know.
Weiss did so and sighed in relief. She was never a big race-fan and Jack reminded her why.
"I play my Speed Fusion speed-spell!" Jack declared as the spell appeared beside him. Said spell had a picture of the Dark Magician on the left, Flame Swordsmen on the right, and Dark Flare Knight in the middle.
Saixus smiled in nostalgia at the familiar monsters. 'Maybe I should to a special-viewing so these guys can see some other great moments from the franchise… I should probably finish this two-parter first though.'
"Speed Fusion?" Weiss inquired. "What does that card do?"
"Does this have anything to do with that fusing-thing you mentioned?" Yang recalled. "You did say you would explain that in the fourth episode, and unless my count is off, that's this one."
Saixus got out of his line of thought and nodded. "Speed Fusion is the speed-spell variant of a card called Polymerization."
"Poly marries who now?" Nora asked confused.
Saixus continued. "They're special cards that can be used to combine two or more monsters to create an entirely new one."
"…So it's just like synchro-summons?" Yang asked.
Saixus sighed as he tried to clarify. "No, you see in order to fusion-summon a monster, you need to have the necessary fusion-materials. There are a variety of ways to fusion-summon but they either require a spell or a specific effect to trigger. However unlike with most synchro-monsters, you cannot pick just any random monsters to combine. They have to be listed on the fusion-monster's recipe if you want to summon them."
"…I'm sorry, what?" Ruby, Yang, Jaune, Nora and Pyrrha asked at the same time while Ren and Blake where also having a hard-time with Saixus' abridged-explanation.
Weiss however seemed to have somehow got it. "If you need specific cards in order to play fusion-monsters then this way of summoning sounds a lot harder than synchro-summons. I mean, how big are the chances that you'll have all the necessary cards?"
"Well there are fusion-monsters that are easier to summon cause they're more lenient towards what fusion-materials they require." Saixus told her. "That and there are cards out there that can be used as substitutes for a fusion-monster's materials but that's enough of an info-dump."
Jack explained. "Now since I have four speed-counters, I can activate its ability and fusion-summon a monster that will have you quaking in your seat." He then took the two necessary cards. "Here comes a recipe for disaster!"
It took all of Yang's willpower not to laugh at that line.
"Take one part Big Piece Golem, add a touch of Medium Piece Golem, mix well and you get Multiple Piece Golem!" A giant monster of stone appeared on the field with 2600 attack-points.
Yusei's mind stated the obvious. 'That's not good.'
"No shit." Yang quoted.
"Golem, send his Speed Warrior in for a permanent pit-stop!" Jack ordered before the giant started moving toward Speed Warrior. With a single punch he wiped the warrior from the field.
"Cheez, this guy deserves some hazard-pay." Yang stated as she saw the warrior get smacked by what was basically an armored-up Geist. "That's like what, the third time he got crushed to death?"
"And with Speed Warrior gone, Junk Warrior's attack-points will drop!" Ruby assumed correctly as not long after, Junk Warrior's attack-points dropped back to 2300.
Saixus once again face-palmed because that is NOT how the card works! He sighed and realized that he had to stop minding it so much since the anime-effect of Junk Warrior simply worked differently than that of the actual card. After all, there were gonna be more anime-cards who's effects would differ from the actual ones so he had to try and stop taking it so seriously.
'Try' being the appropriate word.
Yusei quickly reacted. "In that case I activated my Defense Draw trap-card. And with it in play all the damage you cooked up with your little golem recipe go to zero, and I get to draw a card."
Jack was actually impressed. "Not bad, and here I am thinking you'd throw in the towel. I guess there's still fire in you after all. Too bad this next move is gonna extinguish any hope you had of winning this duel and getting your Stardust Dragon back. "
Jack drove backwards-
Weiss at this point had given up. If Jack was gonna get himself into an accident, that's on him!
-to face his opponent. "Now then Yusei, This is when things get interesting! By using my Golem's special-ability, I can break him down to summon out the two fusion-monsters that are in my graveyard."
"Uhm, why would Jack get rid of his humongous Golem just to bring out two smaller ones?" Nora asked confused.
The others were confused as well, just what was Jack up to?
"It's kind of like recycling, which is something you know all about, living in that dump of a tunnel you call home!" Jack taunted as his monster split up into the golems that were used to summon him.
Yang was frowning something fierce and Blake wasn't far behind. Nora and Ren weren't that happy either, since they knew what it was like to live in the streets.
"And now I can activate Medium Piece Golem's special-ability, which allows me to summon out Small Piece Golem to the field." Jack explained while Big Piece Golem and Medium Piece Golem put their hands together. A blue-light appeared between them and out of that light appeared Small Piece Golem. Next, all the golems lined up from biggest to smallest as their family was now complete.
"Aww!" Nora cooed. "What a cute little family!"
Yang rolled her eyes. "Please, those guys are nothing more than a boring old rock-collection."
"That's quite the rock-collection." Yusei stated.
Yang blinked, surprised Yusei basically said the same thing but her surprise quickly turned into a smirk. It was good to see Yusei still had fire in him.
"Well Yusei, you know that I've always believed in the saying 'the more the merrier'." Jack claimed as he added another monster to the field. "And if you think things are crowed now wait till I summon out this guy, the tuner-monster Dark Resonator!"
Dark Resonator was a small fiend-type monster with red-eyes and a wide-grin, but those were the only facial-feature of this monster you could see as the rest was covered in darkness. He wore a dark cloak and a skull-like helmet with red-shoulder covers. Behind him was some sort of yellow-plate attached to his back and he had a strange instrument in his hands. His attack-points read 1300.
Weiss caught on. "That's why he got rid of Multiple Piece Golem! He needed to bring out it's lower-level materials so that he could use them for a synchro-summon!"
"Does that mean Jack's gonna play Yusei's Stardust Dragon now?" Jaune asked curiously.
"That's possible but…" Ruby stopped for second as she remembered that Jack had another dragon available. "He might be about to summon his own ace-monster!"
Blake caught on to what Ruby was thinking. "You mean that dragon we saw him use during the first episode?"
Weiss remembered that fierce beast. "If he is, then Yusei's in trouble."
"Oh please." Nora wasn't worried one bit. "How tough can this dragon of his possibly be?"
Dark Resonator clanked his instruments before turning orange. He then shrunk down into three stars that started heading toward Big Piece Golem. "Now I tune Dark Resonator with Big Piece Golem, to synchro-summon my most powerful beast!"
Epic music played as the stars turned into synchro-rings that surrounded the biggest of Jack's golems. 5 stars came out of the golem and lined up in the middle of the rings. Then an orange explosion of light appeared that reached out into the sky.
"Yusei." Jack grabbed his attention. "This battle is about to move into the fast-lane. Now feel the power of my Red Dragon Archfiend!"
A massive black-and red colored dragon appeared on the field, stretching its clawed arm before gazing down at his opponent. His head had massive horns on it, red-teeth, a blue-tongue and yellow-eyes that seemed to stare down into Yusei's soul. With a mighty roar the beast signaled his lust for battle. This bravado was not just for show as his attack-points were revealed to be an overwhelming 3000!
While team RWBY had seen the dragon before and where able to keep their emotions in check, team JNPR could only stare at the massive titan in awe.
"That's… his ace." Ren said as the usually calm ninja seemed taking by surprise.
"Oh my…" Pyrrha fell a shiver down her spine as she looked at the beast.
"That… that thing could easily pass itself off for a Grimm!" Jaune stated loudly. "And it's got 3000 attack-points right from the start?!"
"We should really be grateful we don't have a Grimm like that flying about." Ruby said before getting a small smile on her face. "But you have to admit he looks kinda cool, right Nora?"
Nora did not respond as she looked wide-eyed at the screen.
"Uhm, Nora?" Ruby was starting to worry. "Are you alright?"
"… I want it." Nora suddenly stated.
"I'm… sorry?" Ruby thought he didn't hear her correctly.
"I WANT THAT DRAGON!" Nora full out shouted which took everyone by surprise. "LOOK AT THAT THING! HE LOOKS LIKE AN ABSOLUTE BADASS! IMAGINE ME FLYING ON ITS BACK AS MY ENEMIES RUN IN FEAR! REN? HELP NORA TAME THIS MIGHTY BEAST!"
Ren knew he shouldn't be surprised by Nora's outburst but the sudden volume caught him off guard. "Uhm Nora, the dragon's only a hologram and on the television. I… can't exactly go and grab it for you."
Nora frowned at this before turning to Saixus and a thought entered a mind. If Saixus could summon food whenever he wanted, then maybe he could give her a dragon too. "Can I please have that dragon! It can be my birthday present!"
"Nora, your birthday was months ago." Ren reminded her.
"Well Saixus hasn't given me a present yet."
"You didn't even know Saixus existed until 52 minutes ago."
"Okay how about this." Saixus said as he sat up a little. "I'll give you a Red Dragon Archfiend but you can't complain about it."
"Why would I complain about getting an awesome dragon?" Nora asked rhetorically. "Now give me my toy already!"
Saixus smirked. "If you insist."
The others suddenly got worried. They did not want a massive dragon to appear in the room. It would be way to cramped. "NO DON'T!"
Their warning fell on deaf ears as Saixus snapped his fingers and a bright red light appeared. Everyone covered their eyes from the sudden flash and all but Nora and Saixus were worried that the second they'd open their eyes, a man-eaten beast would have appeared and crushed them into paste. They had already activated their aura's in the hope of surviving.
Said feeling never came as they opened their eyes and saw a ferocious and vicious Red Dragon Archfiend.
…If by ferocious you mean incredibly huggable and by vicious you mean downright adorable.
"…Is that a plushy?" Weiss asked as a Red Dragon Archfiend plushy was now laying on the floor.
"Hey Nora said she wanted a Red Dragon Archfiend." Saixus stated with a smug smile. "She never said it had to be an actual dragon."
"IT'S IN THE NAME!" Nora complained as she picked up the plushy. "I ASKED FOR A FIERY DRAGON COMPANION, NOT…" She then got a better look at the plushy and slowly began to get enthralled by its cuteness. "so… so… ADORABLE!"
Nora hugged the plushy causing it to make a squeaky sound.
Weiss let out a sigh of relief. "For a second I thought he was actually about to summon a dragon into our room."
"Which would have been awesome…" Ruby fell the need to point out. "If it didn't involve getting squished. But enough about that, I want to hold the plushy!"
Ruby semblanced herself over to Nora and tried to touch the Red Dragon Archfiend plushy only for Nora to step away from her.
"No! Its mine!" Nora hastily stated with a growl. "Get your own!"
Ruby was sad at first but quickly realized there was a plushy-summoner right next to her. She turned to Saixus and was about to ask when he held his hand up. "I'll give you a plushy after the episode's over."
The AI spoke up while Ruby and Nora headed back to their seats. "Red Dragon Archfiend is a level 8 dark-attribute synchro-monster. It has 3000 attack-points and 2000 defense-points.
Yusei immediately recognized the dragon. "That's your most prized possession."
"You got that right." Jack confirmed. "And I only use it on special occasions, and I don't think they get any more special then this! I wanted my dragon to defeat you." He then smiled. "But then I thought of a more fitting conclusion!"
Yusei could already see were Jack was going with this.
So could the others. "Don't tell me he's about to summon Yusei's dragon too?!" Ruby asked in worry.
"But he's already normal-summoned once this turn." Weiss stated, remembering the summoning-information Saixus had given them before. "And none of those remaining Golems appear to be tuner-monsters so how can he possibly-"
"Remember that Spacegate trap-card Jack played during Yusei's turn?" Saixus asked to which Weiss nodded. "Well by sending Spacegate to the graveyard, Jack can special-summon a monster from his hand to the field so long as said monster's level is equal or less to the amount of Gate counters the trap has."
Blake understood what that meant. "That means Jack can now bring forth a level 1 or 2 monster to the field."
"Yep and remember, you can synchro-summon a monster using more than one none-tuner monster, which means Jack's free to us both his golems during his next synchro-summon."
Ruby gulped while Nora continued to hug her dragon-plushy.
"So by sending my Spacegate trap-card to my graveyard, I can bring a new monster to the field that will make our little trip down memory-lane that much more memorable. Say hi to my tuner-monster, Sinister Sprocket!"
Sinister Sprocket was some weird blue-eyed machine-like monster covered in a metal-wire with 400 attack-points.
Yang wanted to make a joke about the monster's name but like the others was currently too focused on the screen to come up with one.
"He look small but he's got friends. Big friends!" To prove his point, Sinister Sprocket unraveled himself and put his wire on Medium Piece Golem and Small Piece Golem. "Now I tune my Sinister Sprocket with my Small- and Medium Piece Golem to synchro-summon your destruction!"
Out of the synchro-summon's light, a pair of white-wings started to reveal themselves.
"He look familiar?" Jack asked sarcastically. "He should. After all, this is your Stardust Dragon!"
Stardust Dragon rose up from the light revealing itself completely to Yusei. It was a slender dragon covered in a silver-veil with stardust falling off the mighty beast. As the veil started to vanish, Stardust Dragon roared every bit as loudly as Archfiend did earlier.
"So…" Jaune said with wide eyes. "That's... Stardust Dragon."
"It's… beautiful." Pyrrha commented. When thinking about dragons, she would usually picture a fierce beast such as Red Dragon Archfiend. While Stardust Dragon still looked fierce, she couldn't help but be mesmerized by its beauty.
"Man, looking at that dragon directly is nothing like seeing it in that flashback." Yang commented before frowning. "But how is it fair that Jack has two of those things flying around!"
Weiss, who was also enthralled by the majestic dragon, coughed before saying "Well, it's Yusei own fault. If he hadn't thrown Stardust Dragon back to Jack, he wouldn't be in this situation."
AI. "Stardust Dragon is a level 8 wind-attribute synchro-monster. It has 2500 attack-points and 2000 defense-points."
Ren took note of this. "So Stardust Dragon is of the same level as Red Dragon Archfiend but is 500 points weaker. In a direct fight, Jack's own dragon would still be more powerful."
"That may be so," Weiss admitted. "But if there's anything I've learned about Yusei from following his previous duels it's that he prefers brains over brute force. He likely has all kinds of strategies that can give Stardust an edge."
"You do remember Stardust's under Jack's control right?" Ren reminded her. "Whatever strategies Yusei may have with Stardust Dragon, they're ultimately pointless if he does not have the dragon itself."
Yusei looked at his old friend in the sky. "It's been much too long."
Stardust Dragon let out another roar as if it tried to say 'Agreed'.
Ruby let out a tear. "Poor Yusei, he came all this way to get Stardust back and now he has to fight it."
Mina looked at the screen in surprise. "T-Two dragons?!"
"That is why mister Atlas is our champion miss Mina." Lazar said as if the most obvious thing in the world. "He would never lose to someone from the Satellite Sector like this Yusei Fudo. If you're not going to say anything useful, you could at least go and get us some none-fat extra hot lattes."
Weiss eyes twitched at Lazar treating Mina as if she was his servant.
Yang's frustration was a little more voiced. "If that midget talked to me like that, I would have punched that smile right off his face."
"Well unless Mina's fine with potentially losing her job, I don't think she'll follow your lead." Ren stated though he also felt sorry for the woman.
Mina frowned at Lazar before focusing her attention back on the duel.
"Temper, temper." Lazar mocked as if he wanted to get another reaction out of her.
"Silence you two." Goodwin cut in even though Mina didn't say anything. "This is just getting interesting. Now let's see if Jack can finish this off."
Jack laughed to no one in particular as his two dragons stared Yusei down. "You wanted Stardust Dragon so bad, well here it is! It's just like they always say, be careful what you wish for. Hehehehehahahahahahaha!"
Yusei kept driving with Junk Warrior at his side, but now had two massive dragons to contend with. One of which being his own. Is he ready for the challenge? Find out next time, as the duel continues!
"Agh come on!" Yang complained. "Another cliffhanger! How many of those are there gonna be in this show?"
"A lot." Saixus answered. "There're going to be a lot."
This answer did not please Yang while Weiss looked at her confused. "You do know we're going to watch the next episode right away, don't you? It's not like we're going to have to wait for months before we can watch the next one."
"I know but I can't help it alright." Yang answered with a pout. "I just don't like cliffhangers."
"Well aside from having to wait all of one minute before the next episode starts, what do you guys think of the duel so far?" Saixus asked.
"It's getting intense!" Is what Nora answered with her dragon on her lap. "Jack's got two behemoths staring Yusei down all while doing some of the most insane motorcycle riding I have ever seen. And I've seen Yang ride!"
Ruby spoke up next. "I hope Yusei will win soon so he can get his dragon back. It's not fair that he has to defeat both it and Jack's Red Dragon Archfiend. But I know he can still win this!"
"I'm… not so sure." Surprisingly Jaune answered which caused the others to stare at him, some more angry then others. "I-I'm just saying! Not only is Yusei up against two powerful dragons, but he's also battling the guy who, as far as I can tell, has been set up to be Yusei's archrival. I've seen enough shows to know that if the main-hero battles the main-antagonist early on in the season, their chances of winning are not that high."
Everyone was silent at Jaune's explanation before Pyrrha spoke up. "Jaune, remember that this show is supposed to be based on the events from another universe. Sure Yusei might be in a tough spot, but there's no guarantee he's going to lose."
"Besides," Ruby spoke up again. "There are also a lot of shows where the main-protagonist beats his rival early on, you know to set them on the path to becoming their main-rival."
"I think that ship has already sailed."
Jaune continued as if he hadn't heard Blake. "Yes, but that usually happens in the first episode of the show, not the fourth."
"Okay but-"
Saixus put his hand up. "Instead of arguing about what could happen, why don't we simply start the next episode? Oh and before I forget."
Saixus snapped his fingers and another flash of light appeared before fading and revealing a Stardust Dragon plushy that was sitting on Ruby's lap. Ruby let out a squeal of delight before giving the plushy a big hug. "Thanks Saixus!"
Weiss looked at her partner confused. "Wait, I thought you wanted the same dragon Nora got."
"But Stardust's pretty cute too, see?" To prove her point, she held the Stardust Dragon plushy in front of Weiss, who had a tough time keeping a straight face while looking at the adorable plushy. Eventually she turned her head away as it took every ounce of willpower she had not to grab that adorable plushy out of Ruby's hands and hug it like crazy.
"I rest my case." Ruby stated as she went back to hugging her new toy, missing the open-mouth Zwei had as he watched her hug the plushy while he was right beside the couch. He glared at the stuffed dragon and if anyone in the room could understand dog-growling, they'd have heard him say 'This means war!'.
The first part of this two-parter is done. Any episode were Yusei duels against Jack is a treat and I really enjoy their dynamic. Also am I the only one who noticed some similarities between Jack and a certain pair of RWBY-members?
Some reviewers have let me know that they don't like it when I compare the anime-effect of cards to their real-life counterparts. I can understand why and like mentioned in this chapter will try not to whine about their inconsistencies. No promises though.
IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: I have decided to write some special-chapters in which the current cast will react to moments from the other Yu-Gi-Oh series! How will this work? Well you guys can leave suggestions about moments in the series that you'd like our cast to react to. For instance, I've already decided to let them react to Yugi defeating Kaiba for the first time using Exodia. If you guys can think of other moments like this then your free to either leave your suggestions with the reviews or PM me directly.
A few guidelines though.
1. For this interlude, I'm looking for moments from the very first Yu-Gi-Oh serie. I'll stick to the dub but if you can think of good moments that only happened in the sub, I'm also willing to take those into consideration. The other Yu-Gi-Oh series may also get their time to shine in the future but for this first one, I'm sticking to the original. And no moments from the abridged-series. (Maybe in the future.)
2. I don't know how many moments I'll include in this interlude so chances are your suggestion might not make it on the list.
3. No spamming the same suggestion over and over again.
4. Depending on how many moments I'll get, I might have to split this interlude up into multiple parts but that's a bridge I'll cross later.
5. This interlude won't come out until I'm finished with the current two-parter. This will give you guys plenty of time to leave suggestions.
That's pretty much it. I'm very excited to get started on this project but I can't promise it will come out any time soon. Life and all that junk.
Thanks for reading my chapter and I can't wait to receive your suggestions.
This is MasterSaixus, signing off.
