Birds of A Feather: Divide
By: M14Mouse
Summary: Damn robots…his people at the VA are never going to believe this.
Disclaimer: Don't own them.
Sam groaned softly as he felt himself wake up.
He was sore and his head was pounding.
God damn robots.
"Good to see you awake, Mr. Wilson," An unknown voice said beside him.
He tilted his head to see another damn robot on the other side of the bars. So, this is Ultron. He could feel his cold glowing eyes on him. He could almost hear the gears moving through his body. He was terrifying. But….
Quickly, he glanced around at the cell that he was in.
Oh, goody.
"I must applaud you for your nobility even if it is hopeless. It isn't often that humans sacrifice themselves for others. Most would have saved themselves first," Ultron said.
"Nat, you need to go!" He shouted over the damn robots.
"I am not leaving you!"
"Yes, you are!"
He shouted as he pushed her out of the container.
Later, he will probably get yelled at…or his ass kicked or probably both.
Mostly likely, both.
He shrugged.
"That is what I do."
"No snappy one liner, Mr. Wilson?"
"You probably heard it all before or memorized them. Didn't you upload like a million computers?"
"Not quite that many," Ultron almost sounded…amused.
"Enough then."
"You're a strange man, Mr. Wilson. You don't seem scared."
"Man, I'm terrified. I have seen what you have done with my friends. Thanks for that by the way. You know how many recommendations that I gave them? A lot. And you do know how likely they are going to take them? None. What phone calls I'm going to have in the future? A lot. Thanks."
"Hmmm…."
"Add onto that, you're either going to monolog me to death. Use me as bait or kill me. Probably, all three."
"You're correct on all three."
"Good to know."
He thought that the conversation was done but Ultron stared at him.
"Yes?"
"I was going to leave you be. You weren't a threat to me."
He got that. He didn't have super strength or a magical hammer. He was just human. Apparently, that made him interesting to Ultron.
The guy definitely needed a hobby.
"Gotcha."
And the creepy robot is still staring at him.
"Yes?"
"I have a question."
"Okay?"
"Why do humans cause so much chaos and turmoil?"
"You already have an answer for that," He said as he shook his head.
"Oh?" Ultron asked…almost in curiosity.
He dealt with clients like Ultron. He would twist his words to fit his view. No matter what he said or how wrong their view was, they wanted validation. They would do anything to hold onto that validation.
Most run away or block it but some…some turn deadly and dangerous.
Case in point…right now would be a great example.
"You want validation. You want someone to say that you're right."
"And I'm not? Humans are weak. They destroy everything that they touch. They are like a disease that needs to be wiped out."
He shook his head and chuckled softly.
"Man, you're lying to yourself with those words."
Ultron groaned as his eyes started to glow.
"How dare you…."
"I don't know what you saw, Ultron. Images are images. They can only tell so much of a story. You want to experience what you saw. The android robot thing is your ticket to that experience."
"NO! NO! I don't want that. I want it for power!"
He watched as the robot groaned and started to pace in front of his cell.
"And that too," He said.
"So, you are wrong!"
Oh boy. He is right but he wasn't about to say that out loud to a crazy robot bent on destroying the world.
He remained silent as he watched Ultron pace.
"I should kill you. I should but I won't. I want you to see how weak you are!"
"I can imagine that I will see things that I don't want to see. There are a few things that I will see."
"Oh?"
"You're right. I will see weakness …especially if you drop this city on top of people. A lot of it. Greed. Destruction. I will see strength. People helping people. Treating the wounded. Carrying them to safety. People running toward the danger instead of away. Weak? Maybe, we are. We have a lot of strengths. I have a feeling that we will surprise you."
"I doubt it."
He smiled slightly.
For robot, he is kind of stupid.
Not that he is going to say that out loud.
Stupid crazy robot.
End of Divide
Next Chapter: United
A/N: I am not dead…and neither is this story! I got stuck. I'm sort of unstuck. Maybe. I know where I am going to with this story! At least the next chapter. Anyway, read and review if you wish.
