Battle Assessment

"What do you want, Fullmetal?" the colonel growled as the blonde entered the office. "I'm busy!"

Ed dropped an envelope on Mustang's desk and told the other man that he would be leaving Central on the next train.

"Your assessment's tomorrow," informed the Flame Alchemist as the blonde was about to leave the office.

"Ne?"

"The Fürer wants to see another battle assessment."

"But all he had to do last time was sign a few papers!"

"Let's just humor him. It's a way to get out of work."

Roy began filling out more paperwork. He noticed the lack of the fifteen-year-old alchemist's exit and, he looked up to see the blonde blushing.

"I don't want to hurt you," said the teen, who had, by this time, moved around to the Roy's side of the desk.

Roy saw the tears streaming from golden eyes, and he immediately stood and wrapped his arms around the boy's shoulders. He kissed the boys head and assured him:

"I could never hurt you, Edward."

Disclaimer: I don't own FMA.

AN: This is not one of my best pieces. My other short fics/drabbles/one-shots/ etc. written around this time were better. Written almost immediately after "Equivalence" (another FMA fic).
