Hello babies!
It was a warm summer day when Rin was out in the fields with Kaede picking herbs like they'd do most days.
Such a typical morning in the small village she lived. Kids playing around, men working the lands, women finishing chores and of course Rins new group of friends that entertained her endlessly with their arguing.
It helped ease times when she would go weeks sometimes months without seeing Lord Sesshomaru. Like she had now after their short silent moment last spring.
"Hello Rin! Lady Kaede. How are you today?" Kohaku eagerly asked looking down at Rin.
"Kohaku." Kaede nodded giving him small acknowledgment.
Rin giggled as she watched Inuyasha and Shippo fighting over something she could not see behind her friend. "Hello Kohaku, I am well. Thank you. How has your day been? Oh! How is Sango doing? She must be so tired." Rin asked with her large smile as she continued picking herbs.
"She is well. She has become more tired and cranky these days though? I guess she's ready to have this baby soon. I don't think she could wait any longer." Kohaku said jokingly as he rubbed the back of his head with his boyish laughter and charm.
"Is there something ye need? Or are ye only hear to speak with young Rin?" Kaede asked now standing to her feet.
"Oh ugh yes. Forgive me. My sister is in need of something to help her sleep." Kohaku nervously got out.
Your always so nervous Kohaku? Are you also trying to adjust back to your life with humans? Rin thought as she lifted the basket of herbs and headed to Kaedes hut to help her mix something up for Sango.
Now mixing and working indoors the two young children that once followed the great and mighty Lord Sesshomaru was sitting and waiting patiently.
Kohaku stopped talking after Kaede had begun to put Rin to mix and smash the herbs together. Rin never minded being told what to do or how to do it, she enjoyed learning new techniques and ways to help people.
She often bounced the idea around in her head that maybe one day she'd be mixing medicine or teas for Lord Sesshomaru again. With that thought a large and happy grin took her face. And her mixing appeared like a happy dance instead of work. Kohaku noticing began to smile at the little girl before him.
"What are you thinking? Your so happy and practically dancing.?" Kohaku chuckled as he sat up to stand beside her.
"Oh!? Sorry. I hadn't realized. I was just thinking maybe one day I could mix these herbs for lord Sesshomaru? Or you know what I mean." Rin giggled.
"Oh yeah? I wonder if a demon as strong as lord Sesshomaru even needs medicine?" Kohaku said with a curious index finger to his chin as he looked to the ceiling as if it had the answers.
"Hm? Your right! How silly of me. I guess I'd just be mixing tea for lord Sesshomaru one day." Rin giggled out.
Kaede hearing the conversation let out a sigh of disappointment. "Perhaps child ye should consider the possibility of remaining in this here village. Perhaps the demon lord no longer has the time for ye child." Kaede said packing the crushed herbs into a small pouch.
"Yes lady Kaede." Rins smile immediately retracted.
Kohaku stood confused and frankly uncomfortable from the topic and change in energy.
Rin has been told many times since she came into the care of Lady Kaede to adjust more to human living and the possibility of marrying a human as well. Kaede even went as far to introduce her to potential suitors as it was normal to wed at the young age of 13. With Rin being 9 Kaede seen no problems in an early engagement.
"It was nice seeing you Kohaku. Tell Sango and Miroku I said hello!" Rin waved with a half hearted smile.
"Yes, I will! Farewell we'll catch up another time soon!" Kohaku smiled and waved making his way back to the home he shared with his sister and Miroku.
"I know child ye don't understand now. But the days ahead be kinder to ye if you accept a life amongst ye own kind. Inuyasha and his brother Sesshomaru have made quite the impact on all our lives. However we mustn't never forget they be demons. And thine lives are scarcely different than that of our own." Kaede hoped to bring understanding to the young girl.
"Lord..." Rin mumbled under her breath with fist clenched to the table.
"Pardon?" Kaede asked unable to make out what the young girl had said.
"It's Lord! Lord Sesshomaru. You should honor the name you speak when it is of someone so great!." Rin said with a slight anger. She had more adoration than anything though. And Kaede could almost make out the stars in her eyes.
She exhaled in defeat and retreated to finish out her duties as priestess as Rin went about to finish up with some other chores when she was approached by Shippo the young fox demon.
"Rin quick!! Where's Kaede!?" Shippo yelled as he jumped around frantically.
"Umm? I'm not sure. She just left a few moments ago? Why? Is everything ok?" Rin replied watching her friends unusual dance.
"The baby is coming!! Sango is having her baby! We need Kaede!!" Shippo shouted and started panicking and sweating in worry.
"Oh no! We gotta find her quickly!!" Rin dropped sheets she was hanging on the ground and began running threw the village and calling out for the old priestess.
Finally setting eyes on the old priestess in the distance boarding Inuyashas back Rin felt some relief.
"Hey kid! Hurry up and get on!" Inuyasha yelled from the distance.
Rin could tell that Inuyasha had enough weight on him with carrying Kaede, so she decided it'd be better if she caught a ride with Shippo instead. "It's ok! Me and Shippo will meet you there!" Rin waved.
6 hours and a very loud screaming Sango later. The small group had two new beauties to add.
"Your girls are beautiful Miss Sango!" Rin cheered quietly as she watched Sango hold them while they slept.
Sango gave her warming motherly grin. "Thank you so much Rin." Sango yawned in exhaustion.
"Perhaps you should rest my dearest?" Miroku said while laying the twin girls down beside her and Sango giving an agreeing nod. "Thank you everyone for helping and being here. Yous are all greatly appreciated." Miroku said as he walked everyone out.
Rin still sat quietly hovering over the baby girls. "Goodbye babies..Sweet dreams." Rin waved and gave her full of love smile.
