New memories

The summer had long since past. Allowing the fall winds to come through and bring beautiful oranges and browns to the trees and ground a like.

Rin loved the fall from the many different colors to the different vegetables that grew. She enjoyed most that everyone seemed to cook extra foods this time of year.

Rin would never pass up offered food. She loved any and all kinds of stews, soups, roasted vegetables or meats and especially deserts of all kind.

She had visited Sango many times since she had her twins to assist in chores and caring for the babies.

With something so wonderful also came something troublesome. The more time she spent with Sango, was more time she added to her already large chore load.

Making it next to impossible to await for her beloved Lord Sesshomaru. Rin never stopped though as being with the two young beauties reminded her of a lifetime ago when she had brothers.

One of which just so happened to be younger than she. She would often help her mother bathe him and feed him and hold his hand when it came time for him to walk. She missed her brothers, her mother, her father, her home. She missed her life. She often wondered though how could she miss one life to trade in the new one she was given..TWICE!

She was grateful for everyday, and everyone she met was given a large toothy smile of joy and sincere kindness.

"Hello Aiko! Hello Ayane! How are you girls doing?" Rin cooed at the babies rolling around and sucking on their toes.

"Hello Rin!" Sango greeted the cheerful girl with happy gratitude. "How are you? And how is Lady Kaede doing? I always mean to make time to stop by, but the girls always have a very different plan in mind." Sango giggled.

"She is well. And don't worry! I think what they have planned for your day is a lot more fun than anything else." Rin smiled as she played with the girls. "Oh before I forget! Lady Kaede sent these teas and medicines in case you may need them in the cold." Rin smiled and handed the once fearless demon slayer her gift basket.

Sango offered a warm smile and hug. "Thank you Rin, please share my thanks with Lady Kaede as well. Unless I'm granted permission today to go offer my thanks myself." Sango joked as she teased the drool covered toes of Aiko. "Can I get you something to drink?" Sango offered.

"No thank you Miss Sango! I came by to collect your laundry. I am heading out to do some for Lady Kaede and myself." Rin smiled as she received a very sticky hug from Ayane.

"Oh Rin thank you so much. You don't have to if it's to much though? I will make time eventually for it." Sango politely said as she gathered a medium basket filled with dirty clothes and diaper cloths.

Rin giggled as she looked at the new mom. "I don't think it can wait much longer?" Rin said as she gently reached for the basket lifting it to her hip.

"Yeah? I guess your right. Thank you again though for everything you do for me Rin. I don't know what I'd do without you." Sango smiled.

"I'm sure everything would be fine. Your a great mom Miss Sango!" Rin said as she waved so long for now to the demon slayer. Sango watched as she walked away with a skip in her step.

Such an amazing soul..I'm so sorry Rin..I don't deserve your kindness after what I almost did to you..

Sango was taken back to a darker time in her past. She regretted choices she made and events that had happen.

On the brink of tears, joyous laughter filled her ears and broke her from the terrible battles of Naraku that plagued her mind. A smile quickly took her face as she went to lift the two baby girls from the floor.

"Hey Rin!" Kohaku shouted from the skies above her as he rode a giant Kirara. Kohaku swiftly and confidently jumped from the flying two tail landing on the ground beside Rin.

Rins cheeks blushed a slight pink. She had always had a small crush on the young demon slayer. And whenever she seen him in his slayer uniform or so confident those feelings would rush back to her like a tidal wave. "Oh! Hello Kohaku. Where are you two coming from?" Rin smiled shyly and looked to the now small two tail cuddling against her thigh.

"Just coming from a small job is all. What are you doing? Seems like a lotta work for just one person. Here let me help." Kohaku offered with his warm smile. Kohakus cheeks dawned a light blush seeing Rin as she was.

Her hair down and wild as always, her small side ponytail as cute as ever and her signature orange and cream colored kimono she wore when they first met. She had rolled up her sleeves revealing long smooth arms. And she hiked up her kimono above her knees to wash in the river comfortably along with move easily. The site of her long toned legs is what brought the young shy boy to blush.

"Are you ok Kohaku? You seem distracted?" Rin said as she looked upon his staring face.

"Oh! Ughhh!? No!? Nothing?! I'm fine.." Kohaku tried leaning against the basket of laundry and fell over along with it's contents floating off in the river.

"Oh no! Kohaku what did you do!? That's all Sangos laundry!" Rin yelled as she ran to the middle of the river to collect as much as she can.

"I'm sorry! I'll get it all back! Come on Kirara!" Kohaku shouted to the two tail to assist.

After awhile of gathering loose clothes and diaper cloths, Rin was finally able to finish with all the laundry.

Kohaku took it upon himself to lift the two baskets of wet clothes considering they were extremely heavy.

"Thank you for your help today Kohaku." Rin said as she awaited him to set the baskets down so she could hang them on the line.

"Always. I'm sorry I made it harder on you though.." Kohaku said with guilt tracing his words.

"You made nothing harder? You invented a new game to play when I go about my chores that's all." Rin smiled at her friend.

"Yeah? Well always happy to help I guess." Kohaku laughed embarrassed.

"I thought I heard you two out here. Thank you again Rin for the help. I have some dried sugar fruits for you." Sango opened a cloth filled with dried melon, oranges, cherries and pears coated with white delicious sugar.

"Oh thank you Miss Sango!" Rin jumped the demon slayer and embraced her in a tight hug. If anyone knew Rin, they knew her weakness was sugary sweets.

After she finished hanging all Sangos laundry she said her goodbyes to the small new family and went home herself.

On her way back many people stopped her and offered her left over foods they had from over cooking. Soon Rin had a whole basket filled with stews, breads, pastries and dumplings.

She couldn't wait to get home and dig into it all. Nothing made the young girl happier than the new memories she had of this fall season.

Where she once only remembered loss and heartache, she now only had memories of a full aching belly.
