Demon blades have souls

Spring had finally come around melting away the snow and bringing to life the hundreds of wild flowers that Rin loved so much.

Rin spent the winter months living with Inuyasha in his cottage in the woods due to the large two headed dragon she was left to care for.

Rin trained with Inuyasha every morning, Kohaku when he was home, Miroku when he wasn't in another village providing his spiritual services and sometimes when she wasn't busy Sango.

She learned various types of trick magic from Shippo and Hachi who were happy to spend time with the loving young girl.

And she learned healing remedies from Kaede, Jinenji and a demonic physician of sorts that Sesshomaru sent to teach her.

Even though Rin felt she had a family of her own again and more than enough friends to keep her mind occupied, she still caught herself time from time thinking of her dearly missed lord Sesshomaru.

Most nights she'd dream about him and her just star gazing, others she'd be sitting in their special place talking.

Sesshomaru always answered all her questions and once told her she reminded him of himself at a younger age. She missed her best friend more than anything under the stars. And having Ah-Un around her everyday made each moment that much harder.

Rin knew the only other person to understand her loneliness was indeed Inuyasha. It had been two years since Kagome left through the well.

Rin not realizing that the way Inuyasha missed Kagome was very different from the way she missed Sesshomaru.

Rins body began taking shape. Her breast were small perky and still growing. Her height had changed just slightly.

And her legs and arms were thin and toned from her hard work and training. She was not covered in muscles by any means but she was very strong for a young human girl.

Rin was by far very beautiful on her own. Not from makeup or her very fancy kimonos Sesshomaru had gifted her with, but by her personality that shined and sparkled. With Rins new strength and confidence also came an intense love for all living things.

She found beauty and magic in everything and her childish ways were still very much apart of her.

"Good morning Inuyasha! How was your sleep?" Rin had an ear to ear smile as she walked in to find that Inuyasha had finally awakened after she had been up for the past three hours.

"Fine I guess?" Inuyasha gave a loud yawn and stretched out widely. "Hey kid? How long have you been workin? You need to take a break, you'll work yourself to the grave." Inuyasha leaned against his palm.

"Just a little while. I'll be fine!" Rin said with a smile as she brought in the now dry linens. "I have some food ready for you? If your hungry that is.." Rin spoke without realizing that Inuyasha had already eaten practically everything the girl had set out. Rin giggled and proceeded on with her work.

"Hey, Miroku and I gotta village to go to for an exorcism or somethin? You gonna be ok?" Inuyasha looked back at the girl as he grabbed his tessaiga and fastened it to his waist.

"Yes thank you. Stay safe." Rin waved off Inuyasha happily.

"Yeah ok." Inuyasha never showed how much he enjoyed having the young girl around.

"Come on Ah-Un you look so thirsty." Rin guided her loving friends to a clear spring for them to drink, and than wash them up some.

"Hey boys look it's demon girl!" One boy teased with his two friends.

He was always treating Rin badly since she had rejected his marriage proposal. He was a few years older than Rin and found it humiliating.

Rin only smiled and didn't pay them any mind. "You'd think they could come up with better names Ah-Un?" Rin giggled.

In all honesty she didn't mind being called demon girl. She enjoyed it as a matter of fact cause she felt more at home with a castle full of demons than she did in a village full of humans.

"Hey! You can't bring your demon pet around here! So get lost!" The heated sixteen year old yelled. He lifted a rock and tried throwing it at Rin.

Ah-Un being a quick beast blasted it with a bright flash of light. The three boys screamed in fear and fell on their trembling behinds.

Rin looked at them kindly and asked if they was ok before taking her leave now that Ah-Un was nice and clean.

"Here you go Ah-Un some nice yummy grass for yous." Rin pet and nuzzled the two headed dragon before lifting the large laundry basket and heading to her caretaker Kaede.

"Hello Lady Kaede. How are you feeling today?" Rin packed away the linens and set down the herbs she had collected earlier in the morning.

"I am well child. Ye need not worry of this old woman. There is a young man named Kisuke I believe ye may-" Kaede was cut off.

"No thank you! I'm sorry lady Kaede I have to head over to Sangos. Be well!" Rin waved her goodbyes as she ran out the door.

Why do you insist on marrying me off so badly..? Do I bother you so much lady Kaede..?

Rin shrugged off such awful thoughts as she approached the home of Sango and her two beautiful babies.

The twins were a year old and very mischievous and always smiling. "Hello! Good morning babies!" Rin hugged the baby girls and gave them raspberry kisses making them both laugh and smile brightly.

Sango gave Rin a warm and loving smile. "Good morning Rin! How are you? Thank you again for all your help. The girls and I made you some dango. Sango offered the brightly colored balls on a skewer.

"Oh thank you!! They look delicious! Thank you girls!" Rin giggled and hugged them even tighter. She took the pastries happily and bowed her great thanks.

She packed away the linens and had pleasant small talk for the first time this morning with the once feared demon slayer.

It may not have been an exciting morning by any means, but it was peaceful and productive.

And for Rin that's all that mattered.

Now back to the little cottage she and Inuyasha shared she began reading a book on ancient illnesses versus new age illnesses.

After two hours of reading Rin decided to cook some food to hopefully satisfy Inuyasha when he came back home.

With extra to take to Kaede and Sango since she had no clue what time she'd return from training with the torturous three being that this was her first day of training with them. Rin packed up the extra foods checked on the sleeping Ah-Un just outside the home and began her walk into the village.

She stopped to Sangos first, worried that Sango needed more help with her babies and dinner.

"Knock knock. Hey Sango! I brought you some extra food." Rin smiled and jumped seeing her old friend who's been gone for the past month. "KOHAKU!" Rin hugged her friend tightly.

"RIN! Hey! What are you doing here?" Kohaku blushed at the feel of Rins embrace.

"Oh just bringing over some dinner for Sango and the kids. I was worried she'd have to much to do with Miroku away today." Rin smiled in her loving way as the girls climbed up her kimono.

"Girls! Stop that! You'll rip Rins kimono." Sango pulled the girls off. "Thank you Rin. That was so thoughtful of you." Sango gave Rin a quick half hug and went to stop her smallest joy who was sucking on her toe.

"Won't you join us in enjoying your food Rin." Kohaku still spoke embarrassingly.

He grew into such a handsome and accomplished young slayer but somehow was still nervous around his long time friend.

"I'd love to but I can't. I also made some food for Lady Kaede just in case she wasn't feeling well. "I hope we get the chance to catch up soon Kohaku!" Rin waved her goodbyes and was on to Kaede.

The walk was long, peaceful and quiet. With the only noises being laughing families or animals running on the ground or through the trees. There was a slight breeze which felt great and didn't leave a chill on the warm afternoon air.

"Lady Kaede!? I brought you some food! lady Kaede?" Rin set down the packed food and looked around the empty hut. "Hmm? I wonder where she could be?" Rin walked outside looking for traces of her old caretaker.

She heard a familiar voice up top where Kikyos shrine was. She headed up the long stone case and found her old care taker lighting incense.

"Lady Kaede?" Rin spoke in a hushed tone.

"Oh child! Ye frightened this old woman." Kaede calmed her startled nerves. She wasn't expecting Rin back so soon.

"I'm sorry." Rin said sadly realizing Kaede was paying her respects to her sister.

"Ye need not be. Have I forgotten something? A lesson perhaps?" Kaede began slowly walking back to her hut.

"No. I just wanted to bring you some dinner just in case.. Are you ok?" Rin held her old caretakers hand and with her other wrapped around the old woman's back guiding her down the long staircase.

"Of course child. There is no need for ye to go out thy way for such an old woman." Kaedes breaths were long as she struggled now going up and down the long stone steps.

"Of course there is.. Your like a mother to me lady Kaede." Rin gave the old woman a loving smile.

Kaede stopped in her tracks and gave Rin a shocked look of happiness. "Oh child..ye have warmed this old heart like no other. Tis why I push for thy marriage. I simply want thee to be happy and looked after." Kaede spoke now sitting in her home by a fire.

"I will be fine lady Kaede. I am very happy as I am now." Rin kissed her head and said her goodbyes. Kaede watched the young girl go, praying that she truly was happy and well taken care of.

Rin ran back to her small cottage grabbed her gift from Sesshomaru and jumped on the back of her two headed friend. "Come on Ah-Un! Time to go home!" Rin said happily.

She loved that word and all it meant. What she loved more was that for both her and Ah-Un home was with Sesshomaru.

Hmm? Perhaps I should leave earlier next time? I didn't realize how long it takes to get here? Rin thought as Ah-Un landed in his favorite spot.

"Lady Rin! How are you!" Rashini ran up to Rin excitedly. Rin came a few times to the castle to spend time with the demons she deemed to be Sesshomarus family.

It amazed her how much better she felt about being here than she did in Kaedes small village.

"Miss Rashini! It's good to see you! How are you?! I am no one to be called a lady though Miss Rashini." Rin bowed respectfully.

"You are if you are special to lord Sesshomaru. Which I know you are." Rashini smiled and rubbed Ah-Uns noses.

"Not special, just a loyal vassal. That's all." Rin spoke sadly. She looked around wondering where her trainers were and if she had missed them by making them wait to long.

"Umm? Miss Rashini have you?" Rin was cut off.

"Just Rashini please my lady. And yes they are waiting for you this way. Follow me." Rashini smiled and led Rin to the torturous three who waited at the training grounds.

Rin was in complete awe. The grounds were beautiful and lush and colorful. Rin had never seen such a large demonic army before an undead one many times but demonic one never.

Each soldier stronger than the last. Her eyes finally landed on one of the members of the torturous three Tokage.

She ran to him and hugged him tightly. "Lord Tokage!" Rin said happily.

Rashini watched in horror afraid that Tokage would strike her dead right than. "For what must be the millionth time I am not a lord. Now remove your putrid human form off of me." Tokage spoke with boredom and disgust.

Rin smiled up at her new tutor. "Yes, I apologize lor-Umm master Tokage?" Rin didn't know how to address her new tutors.

"Just Tokage. Lord you are so dim." Tokage rubbed the bridge of his nose in irritation.

"Young Rin you've arrived." Hagetaka landed in front of her.

"Yes I'm sorry if I'm to late or to early? I wasn't sure of the time you wanted me here." Rin smiled and hugged Hagetaka.

"First things first. Stop hugging demons. It's for your own good child. Secondly you were unsure as the time had never been given to you. We will see how skilled you are and what exactly it is you know. That way we can set a time for you to work with each of us individually. I decided I'd teach you the ways of a demon. Our customs, our beliefs, our ways of respect honor and dignity. I believe there is much you do not know." Hagetaka spoke kindly to Rin.

"Manners. And proper decorum. Since you always seem to be filthy when you come here. Eckk?" Tokage looked at Rins muddy appearance.

"And I shall teach you how to use your weapon and sync your souls!" Buru leaped up onto the balcony they all stood on.

"Our souls? Who's soul will I be linking with?" Rin asked innocently.

"Your blade?!" Buru looked confusedly to the girl. "You do know your blade is alive do you not?" Buru became dumbfounded.

"Alive?! You mean like Lord Sesshomarus tenseiga?!" Rin said in excitement.

"Oh this is going to be a very long day." Tokage sighed out in amazement that someone can be so dumb and yet follow Sesshomaru.

Rin began lessons with Buru first as Hagetaka had to finish the training with the guards and Tokage had to fight off the headache Rin had given him.

"This blade is forged of our great lord Sesshomaru. Therefore it contains his powerful demonic aura and soul. He is and always will be apart of this blade. And just as our lord is a demon of mystery so is your weapon. It holds many secrets that only you have the power to unlock." Buru spoke as he showed Rin her gift.

It is a part of my lord? Lord Sesshomaru what will happen when our souls sync, will you feel it my lord? Will I feel you? Will you know how much I truly miss you? Rin thought with a smile on her face.

Her body warmed to the thought of Sesshomaru. She held the dagger close to her heart and kissed its hilt. And just like that their souls were synced.

Somewhere far off in battle a mighty demon lord had just slaughtered his latest challenger for his Bakusaiga. He stood slightly winded from his long battle and froze still for just a moment.

His new arm and fingers rose to his chest. A feeling of electricity shooting through his body with a light that warmed the darkest corners of his heart.

"Rin?" Sesshomaru whispered hearing a new rhythm to his heart beat.
