Birthday wishes
Rin shook in a slight fear staring at the mighty wolf demon before her. She gulped and began to stand tall. Soon all fear washed away.
"Your Koga? The Wolf tribe leader right?" Rin asked as kindly as she could.
"Yeah that's me. Good memory. I'm looking for a wimpy half demon? His nasty mutt scent is all over this place? You seen him around?" Koga looked to the petite girl before him.
"Hmm? No I'm sorry. I actually don't remember seeing him this morning? And he is not an early riser. I hope he's ok?" Rin looked worried.
"Are you his new woman or somethin? Hey I know you! Your that kid that hangs around Sesshomaru? What are you doin shackin up with his brother?" Koga spoke like a light bulb went off in his head.
Rin instantly became saddened at the words Koga spoke."No. I am not married. Inuyasha is just kind enough to allow Ah-Un and I to stay." Rin spoke in a whisper with tears building in her eyes.
Koga could smell the salty scent of tears building in the young girls eyes. Unknown to him as to why. "Damn!? I never woulda guessed you had it so badly for the mutt? Since you followed the other dog around so much?" Koga rubbed the back of his head in confusion his long tail wagging left to right slowly.
"YOU WILL SPEAK MORE RESPECTFULLY OF THE GREAT LORD SESSHOMARU! I am sorry I can not help you find my lords brother! But do not ever make the mistake to speak my lords name in vain again!" Rin spoke with authority and anger. Not a single tear fell from her brown passion filled eyes. She knew her lord was a dog demon but not even Jaken was allowed to refer to him as such.
Koga smiled devilishly at the young girl. "Damn? You seem to have grown a back bone outta nowhere? Eah well good for you. Hey if you see the mutt around tell him I came lookin for him. See ya round kid." Koga gave her a slight nod with an amazingly handsome smile waving off from his forehead with his index and middle finger. He than took off with unimaginable speed even without the two sacred jewel shards in his legs now.Leaving a cloud of dust behind.
Rin frowned and coughed from the dirt that was settling to the ground. She checked to see if Ah-Un was laying down only to find he was missing. She shrugged it off assuming he went grazing somewhere.
Rin began her walk to Kaedes hut. She wanted to make sure she had finished all her chores before heading out to find Ah-Un and head to her lords castle. She began to smile at the idea of learning and training in the same place her lord grew up.
Soon Rin had a skip in her step and a sparkle in her eye again.
"Lady Kaede!" Sango came in breathing heavily. She held a large platter of candied fruits and pastries. Decorated with yellow and orange wild flowers.
There was large bouquets of tall lavender flowers with large amounts of pink and white tulips scattered about the room. The doorway was covered in white hydrangeas and the tables filled with all of Rins favorite sweets and foods.
"Sango? Ye look winded?" Kaede offered to assist her with the platter. But Sango refused.
"No I'm fine! I just wanted to tell you that Rin is on her way now!" Sango began to straighten up the room.
Kohaku became flustered and started sprucing up the bouquet of flowers he and Shippo had been picking earlier.
Kaede arranged a table of hidden gifts quickly. Shippo distracted the twins long enough so everyone can finish up setting a surprise celebration for the young girl.
Rin walked up to her old caretakers door and just before she could step in she was stopped by the call of her name.
"Rin! Riiiin!" It was the ever cowardly Hachi. "Rin there you are! I wanted to thank you for the sata andagi you made. They were sooooo good!" Hachi rubbed his stomach and drooled at the thought.
Rins kind and soft giggles warmed the raccoon dogs heart. "I'm so glad you liked them. I can make you some more if you'll be here tomorrow?." Rin smiled lovingly.
"Oh yes! That'll be wonderful!" Hachi said happily as he held the straw door to the side for her.
"Oh why thank you Hachi that's so kind of you." Rin smiled and walked in.
"SURPRISE!"
Everyone yelled in perfect unison. While the twins just babbled with the same excitement.
"Oh wow! You guys this looks beautiful!" Rin teared up at all the beautiful flowers she was surrounded by.
It filled her heart with so much joy to see all her friends and family. She knew they must have worked so hard for her and in such a tremendous heat she was thankful for each of them.
"Happy birthday Rin! I hope you really do like it." Kohaku offered her the bouquet and a hug which Rin accepted in complete joy.
"Come child! Each of us have something to present you with." Kaede had her sit beside her as she lifted the white cloth from the table revealing all of Rins gifts.
"Oh wow! Yous really shouldn't have gone through so much trouble." Rin said cupping her own cheeks in amazement.
"Nonsense child. It be no trouble at all." Kaede smiled while she handed Rin a beautifully woven oval basket. That had paper flowers around the edges and the handle.
"Oh lady Kaede I love it!" Rin hugged her old caretaker affectionately.
"I know it is not as nice to what ye are accustomed to child. However in every inch it was woven with love for ye." Kaedes one eye watered with joy as Rin shed tears of love and held her tighter.
Sango handed her a slayers suit in purple. It had armor that matched Sangos and Kohakus in strength and durability with many hidden pockets. "Oh Sango! Thank you so much! It's perfect!" Rin cheered as she hugged Sango tightly.
"I hope it fits you. You've been training so hard." Sango gave her a loving motherly smile and hug.
Kohaku handed her a rolled up sack of throwing knives, smoke bombs and mashed herbs and poisons that harm demons. "I'll teach you how to use everything. Hopefully you won't need it." Kohaku gave his sweet boy smile while rubbing the back of his head embarrassingly.
"Thank you Kohaku! I can't wait to start learning from you." Rin bowed a thanks to her friend as she took the rolled fabric.
"You guys are all so wonderful! I hate that I have to leave so soon.." Rin said in sadness. When suddenly a voice called from the doorway of the hut.
"No ya don't. Not anymore anyways." Inuyasha walked in with his hands tucked in to his sleeves. "I spoke to the demons you've been training with. They said you can skip your training for the day if you come by tonight and stay the next two days making it up. You don't gotta but it's your choice? That old hag has the whole village setting up a party for you tonight. So whattaya wanna do kid?" Inuyasha looked at her with eyes that seemed to be testing her.
"Hm? Well thank you for speaking to them on my behalf. If I am not needed perhaps I can stay the two days?" Rin looked to Kaede for approval.
"If ye are not afraid child to stay in a domain full of demons." Kaede nodded her head with hesitation.
"No not at all!! Oh that'll be wonderful than! Thank yous all so much!" Rin jumped up and hugged Inuyasha.
"Hey what are ya huggin me for! Get off!" Inuyasha lifted the girl from him.
"Because you are my friend and you've done something kind for me!" Rin hung in the air by Inuyasha smiling.
Inuyasha set her down and looked away with a slight blush. "Yeah whatever! Miroku and Sango made me do it! Not like I care or nothin.." Inuyasha turned his back to the small group.
"Happy Birthday Rin. May this year bring you closer to your hearts desires." Miroku spoke with his palms together and his head bowed.
Rin mimicked the actions and thanked him.
Later that night the party went on and everyone danced and sang and played beautiful music. She was happy dancing with the villagers she loved. And she was happy receiving common courtesy from the villagers she did not take to very much.
Once it became late enough in the evening for Rin to have thanked each and every person in the village she found Ah-Un and lead them away by the reigns.
"Come on Ah-Un time to go home." Rin smiled again at her warm words and took in a deep breath of fresh air as she flew through the skies. Her smile large and unchanging staring at the twinkling stars.
Rin ran inside the large castle and abruptly stopped bowing her respects to the torturous three and Inukimi who awaited her.
"My apologies my lady for coming in so late." Rin kept bowed as she learned from Hagetaka it is considered an insult to rise before given permission.
"Stand silly girl. No need for such. It would appear something has flown in for you." Inukimi said with golden teasing eyes.
"Oh yes. Inuyasha had come with out my knowledge." Rin apologized.
"What? Did you say Inuyasha? That infernal half breed born of my late husbands affairs? How rude of you to bring such a character up to me?" Inukimi teased.
"Huh! I am so sorry my lady! You said something has flown in for me! I assumed you meant he and the monk Miroku from earlier today.. please forgive me!" Rin begged on her knees bowing again.
"Did I not tell you to stand?" Inukimi smiled at the foolish girl before her. It had been years since she toyed with anyone so much.
"Oh yes. I jus-" Rin was swiftly cut off.
"I am referring to those over there." Inukimi pointed to a large black chest tied in a red ribbon.
"It is from lord Sesshomaru." Hagetaka added with a hidden grin.
"He had ordered they be delivered to your insufferable little village." Tokage added.
"We figured it be best if you brought them back instead." Buru spoke in a deep low voice.
"Lord Sesshomaru? Is he?" Rin didn't have to finish her question as she seen Rashinis face hold sadness for the answer she was about to give.
"Oh I see... He remembered. He remembered my birthday." Rin spoke in soft whispers.
She walked to the chest and undid the bow. Her eyes immediately sparkled and filled with tears of joy.
Hagetaka and Rashini walked and stood behind her. While the rest made their way to their respective rooms.
Rin lifted up a bundle of exquisite bamboo paint brushes in various sizes tied to together in a green silk ribbon. Three different sizes of canvas that were tied up by a blue silk ribbon. And what seemed to be 100 sheets of gambi paper tied in a yellow silk ribbon. At the very bottom was a note rolled up and tied together in a silk pink ribbon.
Rin
I am unable to deliver these gifts personally.
I do hope they find you in good health.
Do not stop pursuing your hand in fine art.
You are very talented.
When I return I hope to find more of your exquisite masterpieces.
Sesshomaru.
Rin held the note close to her heart with a single tear falling.
"Thank you lord Sesshomaru." Rin closed her eyes and whispered into the wind.
"Before it becomes any later you should make your birthday wish. Demons believe that what you speak on the day of your celebration of life is guaranteed to come true." Hagetaka whispered into Rins ear as she stared at the dark starry night. "Sleep well child." Hagetaka nodded and walked off.
"I'll take your things to your room Lady Rin. Happy Birthday." Rashini lifted the chest and left.
Rin stood holding the note to her heart. She closed her eyes and spoke the only wish that mattered to her.
"I wish to be with lord Sesshomaru forever and ever."
