Hello! This is a fanfic for Tokyo Mew Mew shortly after the manga and A La Mode takes place. This is what I wish would happen but of course won't happen since Tokyo Mew Mew New has been released and a reboot is coming. I'm very descriptive this chapter introducing the characters so apologies for the lengthy beginning but I do hope you read and enjoy. If you do not care to read their descriptions you can skip the 2nd to 4th paragraph written!
It's the following winter since Deep Blue's attempt to end mankind took place. Tokyo, Japan has felt a bit of turmoil even afterwards thanks to the Saint Rose Crusaders causing mayhem over the summer; but thankfully Tokyo's best and powerful young girls took care of the problem once again. Japan's very own magical girl posse, Tokyo Mew Mew. As it is mid December, Tokyo is starting to feel the winter chill after a heated summer.
In Shinjuku City, Tokyo, a group of young girls can be seen window shopping for some Christmas presents for their loved ones. In the center of the group is 14 year old and 3rd year middle schooler Ichigo Momomiya; her ruby red hair tied in pigtails with pink ribbon to match her bubblegum pink overcoat dress, lined with white faux-fur on the bottom and on the hood, white tights accented with pink hearts all over, knee-high, stringless leather pink boots, and accompanied wearing a strawberry cross-over purse. Her chocolate eyes are in lock with one of her friends and fellow Mew, 14 year old Berry; the co-leader of the Mews. Berry's long blonde locks pair with Ichigo's, in two pigtails tied with a red ribbon with a white puff ball in the center of the ribbons. Berry loves matching with her new best friend and cat girl companion that when Ichigo bought her overcoat she made sure to buy Berry a matching ruby red one.
Behind the leaders are their fellow Mews; Retasu, Minto, Purin, and Zakuro. Retasu, now 15 years old, typically seen with two green braids, only has one long braid today tied with a lilac bow to match her white cape style coat, lilac long sleeve, turtleneck shirt, light blue jeans, and grey ankle boots; she is trying to keep the youngest mew, Purin, to stay out of other passer-byers way while they walk the sidewalk. Purin, now 13 years old, has her amber brown trench coat, white turtleneck shirt, dark blue jeans and white sneakers on; jumping around trying to make sure her presence is known, and it is since Minto, now 14 as well, is complaining to Zakuro, 16 years old, about the youngest member's behavior.
Minto's navy blue hair is let down and curled at the ends touching her shoulders, wearing a dark blue princess cut coat, black leggings, black knee-high leather boots, and a white Kate Spade purse, accompanied by her usual pouty face when hanging out with the Mews. Zakuro's purple hair is down in her usual style wearing a black oversized leather coat, navy blue long sleeve turtleneck, dark blue skinny high waisted jeans, black thigh high leather boots, and a black Kate Spade purse; her usual stoic expression is exchanged with a small smile listening to Minto complain but pat's her dear younger bird Mew's head to reassure her, causing Minto to form a blush across her cheeks.
The Mews walk up to a bookstore that Retasu recommended for the girls to look at for gifts for Berry and Ichigo's boyfriends. Purin dashed off to the children's section before the girls could split off into groups. Retasu panicked at the idea of losing their friend, "P-Purin! I'll catch up with her, you guys can figure out whatever you want to do." Retasu started towards the monkey Mew before she could start climbing over bookshelves.
Berry giggled and glanced over to Ichigo, "Want to go look at the Environmental section Ichigo?" Ichigo beamed, grabbing Berry's hand, "Yes! I hope they have a section for endangered species. Minto, Zakuro, what will you two be doing?"
Minto crossed her arms, "Probably over to the coffee shop over there," nodding over to what appeared to be a Starbucks. "They have tea that we can enjoy, I would like to try their Christmas flavor. Say, onee-chan, you will join me right?" Minto looks up at Zakuro, with a pleading look in her eyes.
Zakruo smiled softly, "Yes, Minto I will be right behind you, let me just grab us some fashion magazines." Minto squealed and floated over to the register to order them some peppermint tea. Berry and Ichigo giggled at Minto for being on cloud nine whenever Zakuro had the time to hang out with the girls. They turned around from the front door and started towards the Environmental section of books; when getting there they started to look for endangered species books for Aoyama Masaya, Ichigo's boyfriend. Aoyama Masaya will be visiting Tokyo from England this upcoming winter break starting next week causing Ichigo to start caring less about her finals and more about her boyfriend. It's Ichigo and Berry's final year as middle schoolers and they are looking forward to high school, Berry more than Ichigo since Berry's boyfriend, Tasuku Meguro, would be attending school with them unlike Aoyama.
As Ichigo reached for a book about endangered cat-like species for Aoyama, a hand reached for the book and accidentally touched her. The hand was cold to the touch, possibly due to the winter weather, but the feeling was all too familiar. It wasn't just a simple, oh I forgot gloves kind of cold, it was an otherworldly cold. Ichigo flinched and whipped her head to her left to see alien, cat-like eyes, the color of the ocean. The eyes seem to look into her soul through her chocolate brown eyes, like they knew her. Berry broke the trance when she grabbed the strange man's arm to get his attention. Ichigo was frozen in place because she's only seen deep ocean blue eyes once before and it was when fighting Deep Blue over a year ago.
Ichigo frantically looked for alien ears, but alas there were none. She released a deep breath and gave a warm, sad smile to the stranger. "I'm sorry! I wasn't looking! You can totally have that book, there's another copy right here!" Ichigo quickly grabbed the other copy that was next to the book the stranger had in their hands. Berry let go of the man's arm, "Apologies for my grab, my friend just spooks easily."
The man glances over at Berry, piercing her similar chocolate brown eyes with his otherworldly blue eyes. Berry sucked in air and looked panicked, "It's fine, I am aware my features seem alien-like here in Japan," the stranger's voice said low and calm. His voice sounded similar to Pai's Ichigo thought, but lower and had a calmer effect like sitting next to a fireplace on a snowy night. "The name's Kaiyo, and yes it does mean ocean, mom was inspired by my eyes she says," the strange man named Kaiyo gave a low chuckle. He nods to the girls and turns away, disappearing as quickly as he appeared.
Berry releases her breath and looks over to Ichigo who is still frozen in place. She grabs her kitten mew friend's hand, rubbing her thumb against her hand to reassure Ichigo, "What's wrong? Why are you freaked out?" Ichigo could barely speak let alone process the features of that man. Pale, ghost-like skin, cold to the touch, deep ocean-blue colored eyes, and jet black hair that's shoulder length. He looked too familiar to Deep Blue, but yet so different. He was only an inch taller than Ichigo, in between Berry and her height, and Deep Blue was much taller as if he could tower over the Earth in Ichigo's eyes. His voice was deeper than Deep Blue's and a lot kinder, but the image shook her. It reminded her how she almost lost Aoyama and how she witnessed her dear alien friend Kisshu die in front of her. Without realizing it, tears fell from Ichigo's face.
"Ichigo! What's wrong?!" Berry grabbed Ichigo and brought them to the ground to sit and collect themselves. None of the Mews told Ichigo what happened to Kisshu or the other aliens, just that Ryou gave them some Mew Aqua to revive their planet and to call them if they ever wanted to speak about an alliance or just to say hello. Ichigo assumes Kisshu was buried on his planet, she just remembers Pai and Taruto looking at her with sad eyes.
"I miss them, Berry. It's all my fault he died." Ichigo's tears came down harder. Berry held her tighter and rubbed her back, "No it's not, you can't blame yourself for Kisshu's death. He chose to protect you and Earth instead of himself and his kind. He chose love over selfishness." Even though Berry was trying to soothe Ichigo, it caused her to cry a little bit harder. Love. Ichigo heard that word a lot between Aoyama and Kisshu during the battles. She truly wonders if he really did love her, then again a small thought of her was sure of it since he died for her. Ichigo was able to calm down after a few minutes and pushed herself off Berry, rubbing her eyes to remove the tears left on her face. She lifted herself off the floor and helped Berry up on her feet, grabbed the gift for Aoyama and headed towards the other book section for Tasuku.
Berry grabbed Tasuku a book of roller-skating tips and tricks since he loves his roller blades, even wears them while working at the cafe. Ichigo smiled at her friend and nodded that it was time to leave. As they were heading towards the register they saw Purin and Retasu in line with around ten books in their hands. Purin jumped up and down seeing Ichigo and Berry, waving them down, "Look what I got my siblings na no da!"
Ichigo looked down and saw Purin with around seven picture books, some of them even to teach them Japanese grammar and their numbers. Ichigo patted Purin on the head, "You're such a great big sister Purin." Purin beamed at Ichigo and started rambling about her siblings and how they've been doing in school. During the ramblings, Ichigo glanced over at Retasu who was holding three books, two of them romance novels, which was so Retasu since she is into storybook romance, but one book piqued Ichigo's interest, a sci-fi history book. It was a book about aliens and how some of ancient Earth's buildings and culture could have been from aliens. Ichigo slightly frowns, she knows how badly Retasu misses the aliens, especially Pai. She must have so many questions about their culture and history that she would never get to ask.
The mews finally paid for their books and meet up with Minto and Zakuro at the front door to start heading towards the Cafe in Tokyo's main park. Little did they know, three mysterious figures were following them.
Cafe Mew Mew finally got in sight for the Mews right before sunset. Tasuku was in the front sweeping up leaves and trash on the sidewalk. Tasuku lifts his head and notices the Mews approaching him, especially his Berry. He rushes over to Berry on his roller blades, scooping her up in the process. Berry shrieks and clings onto her boyfriend as he spins around heading towards the group.
Tasuku laughs at the sight of Berry's startled face, "How was the shopping girls?" He stops right in front of Ichigo and places Berry down so she could stand on her own two feet.
"Eventful." Ichigo said monotonously. She wasn't able to stop thinking of the strange man and of their alien counterparts.
Minto lifted one eyebrow and looked at Ichigo scruintly, "Eventful? What happened while me and onee-chan were drinking tea?" All of the Mews and Tasuku turn to look at Ichigo, waiting for an answer.
Ichigo shakes her head, "Let's go find Ryou and Keiichiro first, I think they would like to be involved in this." Ichigo's eyes showed fire in them, a fire that had been diminished for six months now since the Saint Rose incident. The Mews knew this look, it was the look Ichigo, their leader, gave when she knew something was up and it was nothing good. The Mews and Tasuku ran down the cafe's stairs into the basement, the secret headquarters for Tokyo Mew Mew. Ichigo barges into the room to see Ryou and Keiichiro leaning against the computer, with concern written all over their faces. Ryou's eyes meet Ichigo's, non-communication between leaders, mind reading almost.
"You're right Ichigo, a battle is about to start again," Ichigo's face falters and fear returns to her body. Goosebumps covers all of the Mews bodies. "But do not worry we have back up this time."
Ichigo's face is puzzled, "What do you mean back up?" As soon as Ichigo finished her sentence, two arms wrapped around her waist, pulling her into their body. Ichigo's eyes popped open in surprise. She knew those strong, pale arms anywhere. The scent of musk and earthy tones filled her head, along with tears in her eyes. Her face feeling like a heatwave hit, both from her oncoming tears and overwhelming happiness and relief.
A snarky, but flirty masculine voice filled Ichigo's ears, "I'm back my little kitty cat, did ya miss me?"
Chapter 1 is all finished, I hope you enjoyed it and I hope you're ready for the ride! This is going to be a 3 pairing story of course with IchigoxKisshu, PaixRetasu and PurinxTaruto but focusing on Ichigo and Kisshu. Chapter 2 shouldn't take long to arrive but please leave a heart and favorite this story!
