What a wonderful night

"Farewell! Take care!" Kagome happily waved to some of the villagers retreating to their own homes.

Kagome then walked over to her friend Shizu and her half demon daughter Shiori. They both seemed to be saying their goodbyes to Jinenji and his mother.

"Hey! Inuyasha and I have asked the innkeeper if all our guests can stay the night. It's no charge! That way yous don't have to make such a long journey home tonight." Kagome offered kindly.

"Oh my, how thoughtful. We however were offered lodgings elsewhere. And I believe it may be more comfortable than to be around so many who seem distracted by Shiori." Shizu spoke softly.

"Oh? I understand. Are you ok Shiori?" Kagome asked.

The young girl didn't seem scared or upset as her mother seemed to believe. In fact, Kagome could swear she was blushing.

"Yes. Thank you for inviting mother and I to your wonderful festival. It was so much fun." Shiori fidgeted with her hands and blushed as she spoke.

Kagome took notice that Shiori was not her only friend blushing, as Jinenji was as well.

Kagome smiled happily at her four friends and waved them off as Shizu and Shiori followed Jinenji and his mother back to their herbal garden and home.

"Hey, so all the demons left home saying it wouldn't be such a long journey for them to make, and the lord guy is staying and so is that fake exorcists." Inuyasha huffed out.

"Madame Haraiya could very well be the most powerful exorcist of our time. She is unaffected by powerful demonic auras and has helped us many times. You should be more kind." Miroku said tiredly as he approached with Sango.

"Master Mushin is also staying to the inn. I'm not sure why he wouldn't prefer lodging with us this evening? He and Hachi both agreed to look after the kids for the night though. So that was nice." Sango smiled.

"I think we all should call it a night then. Inuyasha and I will stay at the inn to help out in the morning. Will we see you guys tomorrow?" Kagome asked her two oldest friends that were now like family than anything.

"Of course! Sounds great!" Sango smiled.

"Goodnight for now than my friends." Miroku bowed his head.

He wrapped his arm around Sangos waist as they walked home.

"Hey, Inuyasha! Kagome!" Kohaku ran up to the couple who were about to hold hands.

"Yeah what is it?" Inuyasha said irritated.

"Have you seen Rin? I haven't seen her since lord Sesshomaru got here? And I can't find Shippo to help me find her?" Kohaku asked.

"She's with Sesshomaru now, I can pick up her scent. She's probably gonna stay with Sesshomaru and Jaken." Inuyasha said with an uncaring look.

"Oh..? Well, Lady Kaede had asked me to find her and bring her back. Where should I go look for her?" Kohaku asked shyly.

In truth, it was not only Kaede that wanted the young girl away from her demon obsessed past.

"Good luck with that, Rin is as stubborn as they come. And I doubt that Sesshomaru is gonna let anyone force Rin to do something she doesn't want to do. Either way, she's out by the lake." Inuyasha said plainly.

His hands were tucked into the sleeves of his haori and his face read exhaustion and complete boredom from the topic spoken on.

"I'll speak to lady Kaede. You should go and get some rest." Kagome spoke with a soft smile.

Her hand rested gently on the boy's shoulder giving him the ok to call it a night.

"Right. Thanks!" Kohaku was off to rest at the inn with the other guest.

Kagome watched the young boy run off. She then turned to Inuyasha smiling.

"What? What are ya lookin at me like that for? I didn't do nothin!" Inuyasha said defensively.

"It's nothing. I'm just...Thank you. Tonight was wonderful. I hope you had fun." Kagome held onto his arm as they began walking and rested her head against it.

Inuyasha blushed and tensed up immediately. He stopped walking and began breathing slowly to catch his breath.

"Yeah, I guess. The food was alright. Not like your ninja food but still good." Inuyasha said looking at his newly wedded wife.

Kagome's eyes sparkled in the filtered moonlight. The glow from dying fires shone across her skin making her look flawlessly beautiful.

Kagome looked away and grabbed her cheeks. "Why are you looking at me like that Inuyasha?" Kagome said while feeling warm in the pit of her belly.

Inuyasha gently pulled her wrist away from her blushing face. He lifted her chin up to face him. His amber eyes staring into her soul behind the chocolate hazel color of Kagome's.

His lips slightly parted as he leaned the short distance down to capture her lips. His kiss was soft and innocent. Conveying at that moment how much he truly loved her.

When they broke apart, Kagome's eyes fluttered open. Her lips looked even more intoxicating than before. Her soft voice called out the only name that brought her complete and total peace.

"Inuyasha."
