Strangest wedding ever

Bright morning light shined through the half-naked trees.

The cool breeze blew around the warm-colored, drying foliage as the small wedding group gathered.

With delicate and straightforward decorations, the groom and bride began in the traditional ceremony of love and unity.

Hours after the ceremony, the reception began in a small celebration where the shy couple sat together as husband and wife.

"I'm jus sayin; this is the most unusual couple I've ever seen," Inuyasha said to his wife.

"Inuyasha! Don't be so mean!" Kagome whispered.

"What! I didn't say nothin wrong!" Inuyasha argued.

The young couple began a mild argument as the rest of the village celebrated love.

"I'm so happy for Jinenji and Shiori. They both look very happy." Rin smiled.

"Yeah. Who woulda thought?" Shippo agreed.

"I don't want our wedding to be this big?" Kohaku said to his bride-to-be.

Suzuna smiled softly. She agreed with the young demon slayer. A big wedding would not suit them well.

"Maybe no wedding? Just the ceremony between you, me, and the priestess who would wed us. I think that would be nice." Suzuna leaned to her side to rest her head on her future husband.

"I don't think our sisters would approve?" Kohaku looked at the two older siblings talking.

Kohaku and Suzuna began smiling and laughing, becoming lost in their relationship. Rin watched like an outsider. Of course, she knew she was not, but, some nights. Some nights she honestly didn't feel at home.

She loved the village. She loved Kaede, Kohaku, Shippo, Sango, Miroku, and their kids. She adored Kagome and Inuyasha, trusted them like they were her honest and genuine family.

At festivals and celebrations like these, though...She always felt alone. In the past, Inuyasha or Kohaku would step in and keep her company. Now they had their own partners company to keep.

Rin knew the man, or demon in this case she loved, could not always be there. But still. She just hated being alone.

Rin made the long walk to the bride and groom. They were sitting side by side, blush covering their faces, as congratulatory compliments were given.

"May your union be blessed. I am so happy for you both." Rin smiled.

It wasn't a complete lie. She was happy for Jinenji, and she was also pleased that this beautiful rare beauty Shiori was married and could no longer catch the eye of, say, a particular dog demon lord.

The couple thanked Rin and continued speaking just the two of them.

Rin, having given her blessings, stepped away from the ceremony and stood by the tree line to the once named Inuyasha forest.

She watched for a few more moments before Kaede joined her. The two spent time together silently before heading back to the small hut they shared.
