It was a tough day. A though week, to be correct. He had just giving in his resignation – hoping it would help. He was trying to save the firm, he calls his second home. He was trying to save Jessica, his mentor and idol. He never imagined it could take such a turn. Although he did everything to keep his power he's now facing the fact, that he could lose Mike – for good. Everyone he gives a crap about leaves. Sooner or later. His mom, his dad, his brother, Scottie, Donna and now Mike. He hadn't even enough time to processing that. Since Rachel came into his office telling him that Mike's been arrested he's been hyped up, doing everything he could to prevent the worst. Now, that Mike's back home they at least get a chance to breath, to focus and to make a plan. A plan that should better be working 'cause he's not ready to lose Mike too.

So he's on his way back home. He should really get some sleep and probably eat something. He's pretty sure the battle just began and tomorrow will be even more exhausting.

He was lost in his thoughts when he opened the door, so he didn't realised the light in his condo was turned on. He put his keys on the cupboard like always. Suddenly he felt it. It was nothing he could see, hear or even smell. It was just a feeling: something is different. Someone is here. There are only a view people in Harvey's live that the janitor trusts enough to get to his private rooms: Markus, Jessica and … Donna. And suddenly he knows who's been waiting for him. It must be her. He just… feels it.

And really: when he enters the living room, he could a see a gorgeous redhead. Her white dress is perfectly fitting to the black couch she's sitting on. For a second it crosses his mind, that the thought of her waiting for him to come home feels right. Like it should never be any different.

She had already poured herself some of his whiskey. Then he sees it: she has taken the cactus she once gave him as a birthday present from his bookshelf and put it on the table. He remembers her words, like it had been yesterday: "That's Peter. The most patient creature on this earth. If you can't let any human beings in your live and most importantly keep them there, you may try it with him. He doesn't have ears so he can't hear any of the stupid things you say. Just keep him alive!" He has to suppress his smile.

"It's still alive." She states surprised.

"Did you think I would let it die?"

"No, but I thought you might give it away." She says smiling and taking a sip from her (actually his) whiskey.

"Well, I'm more sentimental than you think. How did you get in here?"

"Jessica told me how when I told her what I was coming here to do."

"And what is that?"

"You need me." She's doing it again: pretending to know what's best for him. He raised an eyebrow but she really knows better, like always, so she doesn't answer his reaction.

"Because as good as Gretchen is, she can't be a part of this, and you know it." Was she really saying, what he thinks? Is she really ready to take this step back?

"You're saying you're coming back to me?"

"Yes. I am." He pauses a second. Is this really possible? Right when he thought everything was falling apart, she's here to give him some hope again? Now, he can't fight the smile raising in his face any longer.

"Good."

"Good."

"Then we'll see you back in the office tomorrow."

"What do you mean?"

"I mean I'm coming back."

"How did you swing that?"

"Hasn't happen yet but I got a little secret weapon called Mike Ross"

"Well then... ", she says, grapping her bag ready to leave "… see you tomorrow"

"Donna? How did Louis take it?"

"Believe it or not, it was his idea"

In that moment he realises he's not willing to let her go just yet. It was a terrible day but just her presence made him smile. The idea of having her around for the rest of the evening, just as in old times, is the only thing that seems right now. But he's scared to push it. They really hadn't separated in good terms and he knows there's a lot to talk about, but not now. He just wants his best friend back. The person he trusts most. He wants Donna back in his life, not just at work. If she wasn't ready for that she would have never shown up here in the first place, didn't she? So he swallows down his pride and just when she reaches his front door he asks:

"Donna? What do you say if we celebrate the partners-reunion a little?"

"Partners? As far as I'm concerned I'm a secretary."

"Come on, we both know it better" There it is: the Donna smile is back. She's ready to come back.

"So what do you say? Pizza with yellow tomatoes, as much Maccallen as you want, bitch about Louis and you're telling me all his dirty little secrets?"

"Oh Harvey, you really know how to convince a girl. But I'm not sure you really wanna know all the things I know about him"
