The car ride to Bella's house was awkward. Jacob was driving Bella home in her truck. I however, was riding in my car while Paul drove just behind them.
I could clearly tell that he wanted to be somewhere else. Well the feeling was mutual. Paul wasn't saying anything to me. He just kept grumbling under his breath.
"You know I could have driven to Bella's house myself. You don't need to take me."
"Yes I do need to take you. You are in no condition to drive. I just saved you from drowning." I turn my head and glance at him.
"Why did you save me from drowning? You clearly don't like me."
Paul sighs. "You jumped into the water to save Bella. I couldn't just let you die for trying to save her. You also happen to be human so that would have left me feeling guilty if I let you die. It's not that I don't like you. You just live with a bunch of vampires. Oh, and you stink by the way."
"Thanks for pointing that out," I say sarcastically.
"Why did you come back anyway? You said that you had to check on Bella and make sure that she was ok." Oh crap. What do I even say? I can't really tell him that I come from a different world where this is all a book series. I don't know how he would react to that.
"I had a dream about it." That wasn't technically a lie. "I kept having this nightmare where Bella jumps off of that cliff and pretty much drowns. I try to save her but Victoria is there and she kills the both of us."
Paul turns his head to look at me. "Wait, the redheaded leech was in your dream?"
"Yes. I assumed that Victoria is after Bella so I had to come and see that she was ok."
Everything was quiet for awhile after that. Paul finally spoke. "Are any of them back as well?" Them meaning my family
"No. It's just me. I didn't even tell them where I was going."
"They must be pissed." I sigh.
"You have no idea." Paul finally pulls up in front of Bella's house.
"Thanks Paul. For saving me and driving me here." Paul just grumbles. I'll take that as a your welcome. I open the car door and start to get out when Paul grabs my arm.
"Wait!" I stare at him confused. "We need to get you and Bella out of here. There's a vampire here." I turn my head to see Carlisle's car parked just down the street. Alice was here. I forgot that she would be at Bella's house after she jumped off of the cliff.
"Paul I'll be ok. That's Carlisle's car." I shake his hand off of me and dash towards the front door. Bella is right behind me.
"Stop! It's a trick." I turn to see Jacob holding on to Bella's arm. Paul is staring at me while standing behind Jacob.
"Jacob it's not a trick. That's my father's car. I'm going inside." I head straight for the door. I wait for Bella to come and unlock it. She soon comes to my side and unlocks the door.
I barely hear two car doors closing as I walk into the house. The house is dark. You couldn't see anything. Bella reaches over to the wall and turns the light switch on.
There standing in front of us is Alice. All three of us jump in shock right before Bella launches herself at Alice.
"Alice!" Alice looks shocked to see me and Bella.
"Bella? Sophie? You're ok?"
I try to smile and give Alice a wave. "Hi."
Alice breaks away from Bella and looks at the two of us. "Do you mind telling me how the two of you are alive?"
Silence envelopes us. Bella finally speaks up. "What do you mean?"
Alice lets out a sigh. "I had a vision that you fell off of a cliff and Sophie jumped in after you. I didn't see the two of you getting out of the water." Alice quickly turns to me. "You and me are going to have a chat Sophie. Do you have any idea how worried we were when you just left and disappeared." Crap. I was in deep trouble.
"I went to the cliffs to go cliff jumping. It was for recreational purposes," said Bella.
"In all my life I have never met someone to do something so stupid!" Well, angry Alice was scary. "Why in the world are you here Sophie?"
"I had a dream that Bella was going to jump off of a cliff and I got worried. I decided to come and check on her. I didn't find her here so I decided to drive around and ended up in La Push. I found her on the cliff about to jump. I managed to get to her in time and almost stopped her before..."
"Before Bella fell," concluded Alice.
"Yes. I jumped in after her and tried to get her to shore. I didn't realize that the weather was so bad."
"That was stupid Sophie but I understand why you did it." I got quiet and looked at Alice. This wasn't the end of our conversation.
"Where have you guys been all this time? Does he know." I look at Bella sympathetically.
"No he doesn't. We haven't seen him in a couple of months. He's in Rio right now. He only calls to check in every so often. Says he wants to be alone. The rest of us have been living in Ithaca, New York for the past six months. Me and Jasper where in Denali when I had my vision. Sophie was there in Denali visiting our cousins when we got a call that she suddenly disappeared. Me and Jasper flew out there to try to find Sophie. I took the first plane here when I had my vision. Only Jasper knows that I'm here, everyone else thinks I went to search by myself."
I couldn't help but to feel guilty. Everyone was worried sick about me. I then notice Alice frowning before she sniffed Bella.
"Bella, what is that awful wet dog smell? You stink." Bella looks perplexed.
"That's probably Jacob. He's a werewolf." Alice then looks shocked.
"A werewolf! Bella, werewolves aren't good company to keep."
"Speak for yourself." I whirl around towards the hallway to see Jacob and Paul. Jacob was glaring at Alice while Paul just looked at the situation.
"What are you doing here," questioned Bella.
"I needed to make sure that you were ok."
I look at the two of them. "Then why is Paul here," I say.
Paul just looks at me simply. "I'm the back-up." Alice walked in front of me.
"Well I'm not going to hurt her."
Paul snorted. "No, the red headed leech is wanting to do that."
Alice looks shocked. "Victoria? I haven't seen her here. Wait, Bella how did you get out of the water? I didn't see you or Sophie getting out."
"Oh. Jacob rescued me and Paul was able to pull Sophie out." I glanced at Paul who looked at me with an unreadable face.
"I didn't see the both of you getting pulled out. I can't see past you mutts." Paul and Jacob immediately started to growl. I was pretty sure Paul was close to phasing.
"Watch it! Don't get us upset." I haven't seen anyone this angry before. Bella rushed to Jacob's side.
"Stop! Please don't do this." Bella looked at Jacob and then at Alice. I think Alice understood Bella's wordless question.
"I'll go to let the two of you chat. Sophie and I need to have a conversation about her little trip. I'll come back as soon as the dogs are put out." Alice takes my hand and pulls me outside of the house.
We walk a little ways before she stops in front of me. She looks at me before speaking. "What in the world where you thinking? Do you know how worried we were? We got a call a couple of days ago saying that you were missing. No one could find you. Rosalie had a fit, she almost destroyed the house in worry."
"Alice, I'm sorry. I felt terrible but I needed to know that she was ok. That nightmare that I kept having was scaring me. I was only going to come to Forks and then go straight back to Denali. I didn't plan on jumping off that cliff. Does Edward know?"
"No, he doesn't. We all thought it would be best that he didn't know until we found you. He's already upset with himself about what happened between the two of you. We didn't want him to get upset further."
I nodded my head. I started to walk around the yard before turning back to Alice. "How's Alex?"
Alice sighed. "Terrible. He's freaking out that you left. Oh I know about the kiss by the way. I saw it." Of course she did. "You need to call him. He's upset but he will he glad to know that you are ok."
"Ok. I'll do that." I look at Alice to see her zoned out. She was having a vision. She suddenly looked scared. This couldn't be good.
"Edward," she says. Edward? I can't question her because she immediately pulls out her phone and calls Rose.
"Rose, where's Carlisle? Fine. Just have him call me back. Have you heard from Edward?" There's a pause before her whole face looks to be in horror. "What? Why would you do that?" Alice's jaw tights in anger.
"Well your wrong Rosalie. Yes, the both of them are fine. I didn't see them getting pulled out. I'll explain later." Alice's eyes narrow. I almost feel that she's about to crush her phone.
"No you can't talk to her right now. Save your remorse for someone who cares." Alice ends the phone call before turning to me.
"Sophie. We need to get inside now!" Alice gently grabs my arm and rushes me back towards the house.
"Alice what's going on?" Alice stops and looks at me.
"It's Edward. Everyone went to Denali to help search for you. Jasper told everyone why I am here in Forks. Rosalie called Edward and told him about my vision. Sophie I thought that you and Bella where both dead." Realization started to dawn on me. No.
Alice looks at me before saying her next words that stab me in the heart. "Sophie, Edward thinks that you and Bella are both dead. He's on his way to Volterra to kill himself."
Well what did you think? I felt that Edward needed to think that Sophie was dead too. I feel that this is going to further develop Sophie's story. Oh and in case you are wondering. No, Paul did not imprint on Sophie. I am not going to be doing a love triangle for Sophie. I feel that if I did that when there's already one between Bella, Edward, and Jacob that it would lead to confusion. I will try and have the next chapter up soon. Until next time!
