A young boy stared at the sky in wonder. "Amazing," he whispered in awe. "And to think that all the past kings and queens of Narnia have looked at this very sky day after day, and that Aslan, himself, made this."

"Quiet!" hissed his mother. "Do not speak of such things. You know it is forbidden."

"But, mother—" the boy protested.

"Silence!" his mother commanded, looking around. "Jonathan Ross, I will not hear you talking like that again." "Do you want us to be hanged as traitors," she said as he opened his mouth to protest. Jon snapped his mouth shut, and gulped. He lived in fear everyday of the authorities.

His family still believed in talking beasts, the old kings and queens, and even Aslan himself, but anytime they spoke of it, it had to be in secret, afraid for their lives. King Miraz had orders that is anyone even said the name Aslan or talked about the old days, they would be hanged, immediately.

Unfortunately, Jonathan knew someone who had hadto pay the price. It was his own father, determined to stand up for his rightsand belifs. and now they were even more suspicious of Jon's family then ever.

He was furious. Andhe knew that someday, somehow, he would get his revenge on Miraz.
