Chapter 20: Ask of You
In all his years, they're had only been a few things that had rattled Klaus Mikaelson. It just so happens that he married the person that caused his nerves to fray oh so much. He can remember the first time she let him touch her. That night he had been shaking like a leaf on the inside.
The memory is so close that his skin heats up, at the mere thought of it. Back then, he thought she was playing hard to get never knowing that- that was exactly what she was. When he finally got her, and she finally, gave into his advances . . . in that tiny bathroom in some no-name bar; he had spent most of the time praying that he wouldn't embarrass himself. Never had anyone felt as good as Bonnie. The mere touch of her skin sent him on overdrive. All he thought about was pleasing her and making sure that she was satisfied. When he wasn't concentrating on her, he was hoping he didn't crash and burn and end things before it even started.
The second time, he was inflicted with severe nerves had been his wedding day. He had paced back and forth waiting for word of what was to come. Kol had been locked up with his future bride, no doubt trying to sway her in his direction and Bonnie had been damn near unreachable, and unreasonable. She had insisted on wearing her own dress, if they married which was a smoldering black number. He had preferred her to wear the white wedding dress he picked out but would settle for to just show up. Not to mention, Rebekah had been prattling on about what a huge mistake he had made.
Flashback
Drink in hand he paced back and forth of his designated chambers of the night. It was just he and Rebekah and she was starting to grate on his last nerve which was very easy.
"Pacing won't make the time go by any faster brother." Rebekah calls from her chair and bottle of champagne in her hand.
He glared her way. "Don't you think I know that?" He snarls and faces her. "This is all I can do to stop myself from ripping off the hinges of her room and throwing her over my shoulder."
"Touching." Rebekah says dryly.
A wolfish grin forms on his lips."She only likes me to do that in the bedroom."
Only Bekah can see past his antics.
Rebekah looks down at the bottle and soon places it down. "You really fancy her don't you? This isn't just about getting back at the Damon and Stefan Salvatore? This means more to you than anything else?" She says finally looking up to meet his eyes. "You lo–" her words falter at his growl.
"Tread easy sister dear. We wouldn't want you to anger me."
She tosses her head back and laughs. "What if this marriage is only in name only? What are you going to do then?" She says hotly. "You can't make someone love you."
He crushes the glass in his hands. "She's damaged and so am I. It's why we fit together so perfectly. I've seen every side of her," pause. "I adore every side of her, the mean, the side that many would never imagine– I've also been on the receiving end of her tenderness. That first night, she became mine and I became hers."
"Nik,"
"I won't let her go. I won't." He says walking away.
Briefly she sits back amazed at such words. She had seen her brother in many stages of his brand of love: infatuation, like, obsession, but she had never seen him so in love.
"Well then." She calls out with a clap of the hands. "I guess it's time to get you married, dear brother."
End of flashback.
The most recent occasion for his nerves had been this moment right now. He was opening himself up to her, in a way he had never done before.
Being here meant the world to him and sharing with her made it even better. She was the only person in the world he knew he could show this part of him without the consequences of Mikael.
If he had dared to show his siblings, father would make sure everything was burned to ashes. He'd torture Bekah, and Marcel. Then he'd go after Kol and remind him he was never part of always and forever. He'd get into Kols head and remind him Elijah and Bekah had constantly turned their backs on in him, in favor of the original pact the three of them had made so long ago. Finally he would seek out Elijah who held duty above everything else. He couldn't risk that, not just for them but for this place as well.
As for his wife, Bonnie was the strongest person alive, while he was the strongest person dead. The two of them were unstoppable together. He had always known so . . . even before she had.
"You ready?" He asks as the car has come to a stop. He had after a few of his tricks, blindfolded her to keep the surprise alive and well.
"Klaus?" I call out as the car stops. I know we've at least reached part of destination.
After a few more moments of silence I finally speak again. "Klaus, you wanna tell me what is going on?" I ask as the blindfold is taken off my eyes.
He soon pulls me to him a quirk on his pink lips. "So impatient love." He says kissing my forehead.
When we reached the top of the cliff Klaus, had exited to the car swiftly. No words were spoken between the two of us as I waited for him to say something. I could tell be the way his lips had gotten tighter that he was holding back some things, and wondered what was on his mind. Earlier had been so chatty reuniting with his friend and now he was quiet as a mouse.
"Take my hand." Klaus calls as he opens the door for me. Gingerly I take his hand, all the while trying to read his eyes. He's better at hiding his emotions . . . his everything I guess it had to do with being an original vampire.
When he pulls me to him, the quirk of his pink lips is the only indication that all is well.
"So, you've got me out here in the middle of nowhere . . . "
He chuckles lightly. "You never learned how to be patient?"
I grin. "I did. I'm just not applying it in this circumstance."
He continues to fiddle in the trunk and soon returns with a blanket and a bottle of wine. "Care to join me love?" he singsong walking past me to the front of the car near the edge of the cliff.
Hesitantly I follow him. I didn't have a fear of heights but this, we were on a cliff that had water below and for some that might be a bit of a problem. Klaus, had no fear though and as he looked up at me expectantly, with eyes that were much clearer than they had been before, I knew I would join him.
When we reach our destination it's like everything has finally connected. The beauty that is around here, and what he has set up for us.
"Do you like?" Klaus asked, his husky voice dancing along my ear.
When I turned to look at him, his eyes held so much hope and yet a hint of doubt swirled around as well. It was almost like he wanted everything to go the way he planned yet, he was still waiting for the other shoe to drop.
"It's beautiful." I say finally after a long while. I don't think I had ever seen something that was
I don't think I had ever seen anything that was so magical without it being magical at all. You could feel energy all around us, not just from the supernatural but from nature itself. Magic was all around us in different forms with different meanings. It was all magic, from a fox scurrying along the woodland floors. As well as the Raven, hawk and even crow that flew above us all only to find its way back to its resting place. The majestic animals of the woods and the night life that came with it was radiating pure magic.
When I shared my wonderment of it all, I noticed two dimples appearing on stubbly cheeks.
"What?" I asked trying to gauge his reaction. Earlier he had seemed timid . . . almost afraid to speak, afraid of my reaction but now his eyes were shining like deep pools of water. "What?" I say again as he leads the way.
He nods his head absorbing her words in like a sponge. "Nothing." He admonishes. "It's just . . . I thought I was the only one to really feel it all." He admits. A whisper in the back of his mind tells him now he'll never have to be alone, not with Bonnie on his side, by his side. They may have not gotten here the conventual way and she may have just decided to give him a fighting chance to love her the way he wishes, but all he really needed was an inch and he'd run with it for many lifetimes.
I debated my next words. Although I had a good relationship with nature around me, I never felt this open to it in my life. It was like I was seeing everything more clearly than before. I could hear things off in the distance and smell food from far away. But most of all, I felt more connected to everything and that included Klaus as well.
"I can . . . I can feel it too."
Klaus soon gestures for me to sit on a picnic that was obviously meant for the two of us. With as much grace as these pants I'm wearing, grant me. I soon find myself sitting on the blanket with Klaus falling close behind. He pours us each a glass of wine and then carefully moves behind me.
Together we sit while listening to the symphony around us; it's all brought to us by nature and the sudden calm it brings is unexplainable.
I didn't think anyone would be able to believe the Niklaus who sits behind me, form the very man scary stories were told about. This man, is smiling, he's patient and so unlike what most people see. He is probably one of the biggest mysteries I had ever witnessed, almost like an enigma. The man, craves attention good or bad. He has a thirst for love, which is almost insatiable. He's highly emotional which could lead to just about anything good or bad.
Most of all, he loves affection and physical contact. Since I had decided to give our marriage a real shot, Klaus is never too far away, not that he had been far from the beginning. He has a habit of always touching me, if we are in the same space. His hands have a mind of their own and often roam, wether we are in public or private. In this very moment, he's got one hand wrapped around my mid section anchoring me to him. While the other hand is thrown over my shoulder.
In a nutshell, Niklaus Mikaelson and Klaus Mikaelson couldn't be more different from night and day. Klaus was born out of fear of being hurt and as a result struck before it happens. He was, I'll tempered, selfish and resentful, vengeful and often petty. Klaus, was the reasons people were afraid of him. While Nik, was searching for a hint that someone could possibly understand him and love him the way he loved and lived which was at 100% capacity.
I take a sip of wine as my train of thought as only brought to surface everything that I am. And everything I am trying to cope with, within myself.
"Klaus." I call after a long moment and turn my head so I can look at him. When I do look at him, he bites his moment and then runs his thumb over my bottom lip. His eyes are darker than before still pools of water but with a hint of something else all together.
"I've kept you waiting long enough." He finally says after admiring her for a moment.
Sitting his drink down, he gathers her into his arms enjoying the squeal she's made and the fact that her heart is beating faster for him. He runs his nose along the nape of her neck as her skin smells of tea tree and aloe, its so fresh and so relaxing, exactly what this trip is supposed to be for the two of them. Bonnie always smelled like what he had imagined true happiness to smells like.
With a kiss to her throat he finally lets her go.
I shake my head because he is always trying to cop a feel or steal a kiss. "I thought this was my surprise?" I say narrowing my eyes his way. The picnic was nice and the wine was delicious.
However, I could tell he was holding back.
He chuckles low. "So inpatient love," he says getting into her face all over again. "What am I going to do with you?" he asks with an arched brow.
I say something sly that causes him to tilt his head back and laugh.
"Fair enough." Pause. He hand soon glides over to hers resting it on top. "I know this . . . everything hasn't been easy for you. Our marriage, your family, the Salavatores, the betrayal of the Salvatores and me." He looks into deep green eyes and realizes that he'll do everything in his power to please her, to love her the way someone like Bonnie deserves to be loved.
Now it's my turn to nod. "It's . . . getting better." I remind him while placing my other hand on top of his. Everything may have started out bumpy but we were trying to put all that in the past and just be.
He smiles again. "My mood changes like the weather and my temper is like a hurricane."
All I can do is grab a hold of my glass of wine, give him a small toast and drink up. "I think we're both making an effort. Even before the Salvatore brothers screwed me over" I say with an air of I don't give a damn. "You were trying to be more open. I mean, you had stopped playing moody music on the piano and the chain smoking had stopped." I say giving him a thumbs up.
His fights back a smile.
"And," I say turning to face him fully. "Lets not forget that you haven't screamed that scary scream, or yell in a very long time. Not to mention, you've only threatened people who deserved it." Pause. "I can't believe I'm going to say this but you've been on your best behavior lately." I say as a smile forms on my lips. "I'm proud of you, good job!"
Now he's grinning fully. "I think that's the nicest thing anyone has ever said to me." And it's true because most times whenever people give him praise it's because of his bedroom manners or his swift and efficient moves against his foes. This time though, he was being praised for doing better in general. It was a real head turner and caused him to scratch at his stubbly chin, mystified.
I find myself moving closer to him. "Are you fishing for compliments now?"
He gets really close to me now. "No, I got all the praise I needed this morning, but if I were fishing for compliments I'd pull down my jeans." He sends a wink her direction as a gust of wind blows her fragrance all around them.
I roll my eyes and fight off a grin. I don't know what it is, but it feels so freeing just being like this.
Seconds later I'm flat on my back with Klaus hovering over me. "Do you know, why I've brought you here to one of my favorite places?" He laces our fingers together as his eyes color flickers.
"Why don't you tell me?" I say into his ear. I feel the shift in the air, as his body trembled with my words.
He bares down at me with hunger in his eyes for a few more seconds before pulling and him back into a sitting position. "I wanted to–" pause. His eyes linger on my neck before he clears his throat. "I wanted to share with you something I've never shared with anyone . . . not even my siblings or my son."
I furrow my brows. "What is this place to you?"
"It's a sanctuary of sort. Legend has it, a lone wolf was on the run fleeing for his life. He stumbled upon this place and decided to make it a home for those who didn't have one."
It was in the way he said the last couple of words that left an eery feeling running down my spine. His voice had changed, if only a few octaves lower. His words were also different. It had a bitter undertone to it causing warning bells to go off in my head.
I place my hand on his cheek. "How do you know about his place?" I ask trying to read his eyes.
He smiles ruefully, briefly, all the while stroking her jaw. Her heart is hammering in her chest, which is not unusual, the sudden chills cause for concern. Her body is practically ice cold, almost as if she has absorbed the night air and nature all around. It seems with her concern her temp has dropped.
"Well love, it's important to know about ones family and whatnot."
I furrow my eyebrows. Klaus had made this trip super top secret. I had no idea he was taking me anywhere Mikaelson because then everyone would know about it. "This," I wiped my face. " All this belongs to your family." I say pointing to the vast amount of land.
"My father." A deep sigh escapes his mouth. For so long he called Mikael his father, it sticks with him even now. "My biological father, he stumbled upon this place while seeking refuge from Mikael."
My eyes must have conveyed the words that were on the tip of my tongue because Klaus is talking again.
He nods all the while letting his fingers trail along her neck.
"My biological father and Mikael had been friends long before I was born. When Mikael found out about my mothers, betrayal, it spurred a war between wolves and vampires." He looks down.
"The very war that is still fought today?" I say my words coming out shaky.
He nods all the while letting his fingers trail along her neck.
"My father is the original wolf, just as I am the original hybrid."
My eyes widen in surprise. Everyone had heard about the original wolf. He was, the first to be born a wolf, while others had been turned actually wolfs. The story goes that every couple of years natural born wolfs are born to keep the supernatural balance. It's a family trait that is passed on by genetics. However, wolfs are created as well whenever a werewolf bite happens during the full moon.
I swallowed thickly. See this was what I was saying everything with Klaus was fast paced.
"Your father, the original wolf,"
"Is alive." He says twisting his wedding ring. He wanted to share himself with her the same way she had shared herself with him. He never spoke about his parents or him being a reason Mikael wanted world domination, but Bonnie was his wife and he was willing to give her everything he had.
When he looks her way expressive green eyes are swirling and he's taking a moment to just look at her. He leans forward and places a startling kiss to her lips. She tastes of the wine they've been drinking and the unexpected kiss has her panting against him. He kisses her like it's the last time because this could be the reason she walks away from him. He's stalling because in this moment he realizes that, he's sharing everything with her. He'd give her the world and now he's giving her that tiny bit of him that not even his siblings know about. He's open, the most open he's even been in his entire life and if she rejects him . . . he doesn't know what he will do.
He wants to say he'd be okay, but he knows that if she does reject him he might just lose it.
She pushes at his chest and soon he loosens his grip of her. He removes himself from her person all together and stands at the edge of the cliff.
"This is actually his sanctuary, it's the house of Ansel."
He waits patently for her to say something anything and she stays in her spot. "I've brought you here to meet him, to stay at his sanctuary where you and I can just be."
What happens next he doesn't even really believe until it's all over.
"I'd like that very much" I say with a shy smile. This place gives us a chance to start our reset the way we want without judgement or the Salvatore stench.
He grins. "And he would like to meet you too." Pause. "I've never shared anything like this with anyone. You don't think I'm an abomination, the proof and reason for war?" He asks not daringly to look at her. He can't see the look in her eyes not if she thinks of him like most do.
I inhale and good breath and then find myself standing next to him. It's a lot to take in, everything is, but my journey to the crown had been a lot to take in as well. It was only fitting that it got more complicated.
I place my hands on either side of his face. "You were an innocent child. Maybe you were born because your future will be much brighter than your past."
So overcome with emotion he brings her close to him and holds her. Not a single persons words had meant as much as her words meant to him now.

Lucy
Lucy Bennett killed the engine of her cherry red convertible, and let out a squeal. It had been a long time since she had made a grown man cry and Stefan Salvatore was at the top of her list. From everything Bonnie had shared with her it seemed like her old friend Stefan had taken a trip to flip the switch crazy town and she was about to bring him back to the real world by breaking him down of course.
Checking her reflection in the mirror, she realized just how flawless she looked. Of course she was missing one thing and that was her signature red lipstick. She reached for her favorite pick me up and take them down lipstick and soon slid the tube across her lips. It was time to start being about it and that meant she needed to have a little chat with her fellow guardian. Damon wouldn't know what hit him.
Closing the door to her baby, she adjusted her shirt to show a bit more cleavage and soon made her way to the Salvatore house.
"Ready or not here I am."
The thing with the Salvatore brothers was that they never locked their doors. It was arrogant and so them, which made it easier for someone like her to flutter in.
Just as her hand was poised on the doorknob she was hit with a memory. The last time she had been here, was after everything had turned into nothing but ashes.
Flashback
"I'm back Salvahoes!" She says walking into the sitting room. It's not surprising that the brothers are doing that thing when they talk without saying anything. It's creepy, but it's the Salvatore brothers.
Damon is the first one at her side, though she shrugs him off. "What are you doing here? I thought you were healing?" He asks with wide azure eyes.
A bubble of laughter escapes her mouth. "How can I heal when I'm left feeling empty?"
Now its Stefan turn to talk. "Are you medicated?"
Sharp eyes meet forest green ones. "With everything," She starts to laugh at the displeased faces of the Salvatore brothers. You know it's bad when you disappoint the worlds worst brothers. "I had some witches brew, and anything else I wanted."
Soon my ass is in a chair thanks to Damon the mother hen of the day.
"No more for you. Elijah is going to lose his shit when he finds out you're here." Damon grunts out.
"You think he would care wouldn't you?" She bites her lip. "He was supposed to care, he was supposed to love me?" She says pointing to herself. "He said he chose me." Tears start to fall.
"Wh- what exactly happened, you guys are like engaged to be married?" Stefan asks thick brows furrowed.
With a sniff she wipes at her eyes. "That's over now. I sent his and prim and proper butt packing."
"But?"
"I asked him to avenge me, to avenge us and he refused." A sad chuckle escapes. "He said he can't hurt his brother." She pauses to wag her finger. "His honor and love are a load of crap because his brother hurt me, the woman he loves yet Kol still lives!"
The brothers look between each other.
"What happens next?"
A smile forms on her lips. "Klaus will take care of it." She says brutally. "Family politics don't mean jack to him not after this. A war will be started and at the end of the day, I will have Kol Mikaelson head mounted in my home as a reminder of what he took from me and what I took from him in return."
End of flashback
A chill ran down her spine as the memory faded. Unfortunately Kol was still walking around but she knew his days were still numbered. She hadn't forgotten and neither had Klaus. She had seen the way the wolf had looked at his brother, even if it were all to protect Bonnie and maybe even the secret they had shared, she knew Kol was as good as gone.
All she had to do was bide her time and soon she'd be rid of him. Luckily for everyone, Stefan was on her sh*t list so, he had her full attention.

Damon
It had been a grueling couple of days . . . hours even and now all he wanted to do was nurse himself back to normal. After the elders had taken the bond away from him and Bonnie, the after effects had been worse than anything he had ever felt before. Nausea was a pain in the rare and dry heaving felt almost as bad. He had gotten to know he brand new toilet in a way he never thought possible.
Without Bonnie, without the tether securing the two of them together, he felt sick to his stomach and lost beyond reason. For so many years, he had been use to having the bond. It was always simmering beneath the surface, it kept him warm when in the inside he was cold and . . . dead.
Now, he lay in bed with a bottle of bourbon hoping to nurse the pain away.
Rolling over he's met with an empty bottle tequila that just so happens to be a favorite of one green-eyed witch. The empty bottle had reminded him of Bonnie and how they had sat on his car just talking about everything and nothing at all. She was good like that, you could say anything and she'd have either a sly comment or a slick response.
A loud groan escapes his mouth as his skin begins to heat up, followed closely by the chills. It's another reaction to being without the bond. He spent most of his night with a familiar bottle of bourbon close by to keep him slightly sane. When he wasn't drinking, he was drowning in dreams of Bonnie. Dreams about what could have been and everything that happened. He stuck in a haze of Bonnie, endless dreams turning into more dreams and at the end when he was just about to wake up. She'd fade away.
Last night had been one of the worst nights of his life, and this morning was turning out to suck just as much. He laying in bed looking up at himself in the mirror. He's Damon Salvatore, and she's Bonnie Bennett, nothing can stop them. Not Klaus and not Bonnie herself. She was given to him and in the end she'll be his on her own accord.
Hopping out of bed, he watches as he cell phone lights up. He's not eager to talk to anyone at this point in time. Bree was probably going to go into detail of what a screw up he was. And today he was not in the mood to reminded of his failures. He did have questions for Bree, afterall she was a witch and maybe she could help with sickness he felt. And Caroline, was just desperate for information. Quickly he sent the call to voice mail and decided to send out a mass text to anyone who would dare to call him after all the crap they had gone through a simple "not now."
The sound of his mother and brother arguing makes him sit up.
Seconds later he's stomping down the stairs making sure to make lots of noise. When he's reached the kitchen, it's then that he see's his newly returned mother (Victoria) cooking in his kitchen. He also spots he's now witch of a brother Stefan looking like the cat that ate the canary. It's then that he decides he doesn't like either one of them. Everyone is acting like this is all normal. His brother and mother had been bickering about Stefan not eating enough now that he's temporarily human or whatever. And Stefan is all smiles.
This is wrong on so many levels.
"Look who finally decided to show his face, I thought you'd be busy crying over spilled milk?"
He says nothing but flips his traitorous of a brother the bird.
When he stumbled down the stairs, holding onto his precious bourbon bottle, he thought his murderess intent had been recognized. The one thing his presence did accomplish was the constant noise and prattling had seized.
When everything finally came into focus, he found his eyes following his mother. Victoria had spent the morning cooking her hearts desire and no doubt creating a mess in his kitchen. Scanning the area he noted that just about every pot and pan was used to make various dishes. He understood the need to cook, he too liked to dabble in the kitchen. But what he could not stand was a mess and right now his kitchen was filthy by his standards. It was enough to make him start to scratch.
Victoria wiped her hands on her apron and soon walked closer to him. A smile graced her face. He loved his mother, with everything and seeing her here. It warmed his dead heart. Right now though, he felt a mixture of emotions. Having Victoria here it meant everything to him, and to Stefan. They had needed her for so very long and now she was with them.
But then he thought of Bonnie and everything became bleak.
He hated with a passion everything that had gone down with Bonnie. It was something that would probably haunt him for a very long time. He was too busy trying to make amends to Stefan and Elena and the relationship he had interfered with, he hadn't notice the change in Stefan. For goodness sake, Stefan had tried to use a Bennett medallion to render a Bennett witch without her powers. And all the venom his brother was spitting, it was so much hatred that literally came out of nowhere. He wonders, if maybe he had kept his eyes on his brother more maybe they wouldn't be in this situation. He liked to blame it on the human blood, he was sure Stefan had a sip before they went to the Mikaelson home, but he'd never really know the truth, not now.
He's to blame for this too, he slipped up on taking care of the one person who was entrusted to him, the most important person entrusted to him and now she was with Klaus. In fact that hybrid had done everything, that as her guardian he should've done from the beginning. And that was part of the reason he was so mad, because he helped push Bonnie away.
"Good morning son!" Victoria says stopping him mid stride. She grabbed his arm and looked at him with eyes that were similar to his. He forgot what being this close to his mother felt like. He was about to say something, mumble something when she gave him a hug effectively shutting him up. Despite how he felt, he leaned into her touch and rested his head on her shoulder.
"I'm glad you're awake." Victoria continued on as he pulled away. "I feared I was going to have to drag you down here for breakfast." She says with a glint in her eyes.
He rolls similar eyes as she pushes a plate in front of him and a glass of blood.
"Now, go sit with your brother. We are going to have our first family breakfast in a very long time." She says pointing.
He looks to Stefan and sits across from him instead of next to him. He mumbles about Stefan being a traitorous b*tch while Stefan calls him a p*ssy.
Victoria wipes her hands onto her apron and soon sits at the head of the breakfast table. "Listen," she says hitting her hand on the table. "I understand that, the last hundred plus years have not been easy on your relationship." She pauses and looks to her boys. "But that changes today. We aren't leaving this kitchen till you two talk about what is between you two and how we can fix it."
When neither talk to her continues. "The elders will not let this go and neither will I."
"Neither will Bonnie." He says feeling his stomach churn. At the mention of her name. He wipes at his heart that use to beat or at least echo with hers now though its as empty as he feels.
Stefan snorts. "Of course you would bring up Bonnie, not our contentious issues." Stefan gets up and adds some champagne to the orange juice, Victoria had set in front of him. He was not drunk enough, or buzzed enough for this conversation. Between his mother and her affectionate ways, checking on him while he was trying to sleep, cooking breakfast and giving out hugs like Caroline gave out her credit card, he was beginning to feel suffocated.
"Relax Damon," Stefan calls walking over to the table. "This is your favorite kind of foreplay. Any woman telling you to screw yourself only makes the yearning stronger."
He won't even deny that he likes a challenge because it's always been his thing. But this was different, Bonnie was different. "Bonnie, meant what she said, she's not like . . . " He stops himself.
Despite the anger he harbors for Stefan, for himself and Klaus . . . heck the whole situation this isn't how he wants things to go down.
The war started with Katherine who played them both, then he went after Elena and finally Stefan brought Bonnie into the mix. He nor Stefan was innocent not in this case. They both made mistakes that cost them. The only person innocent had been Bonnie and for a time Elena. They had no idea what was coming their way, not in the beginning.
Stefan stands up. "What? Were you going to say she's not like Elena! You think she's so much better? Your precious Bonnie could never be like Elena. But you know what, if I wanted to– I could've had her in bed." Stefan whispers the last part. "I wanted to, but those eyes." He stops himself. Bonnie had trusted him and that was why he stopped. It wasn't till she had taken Elena away that he snapped.
He glares at Stefan. "What were you thinking going after her?"
Stefan grins. The same thing you were thinking about when you went after her. She's a beautiful girl with a mouth that is addicting," pause. "As we both know." Stefan looks down. "I wasn't going to hurt her, not the way everyone seems to think, not till Elena showed up. When she took Elena away, I realized I was going to do everything in order to keep her."
His lips form a thin line as he eyes dart over to his mother who is quiet though she looks very pensive. "I want the truth?"
Stefan leans forward. "I was thinking I asked for your help and you were going to stab me in the back. So that's why I went after your precious Bonnie."
He gulps back his bottle of bourbon. "So you tried to beat me to it! I was going to help you, any way that I could." He looks down at his daywalking ring. "I owed you . . . I owed her that much!" He yells. "I came to terms with what I did and realized that when you stood broken in front of me that I was going to help you, I was going to help you with everything in me."
A violent look crosses his brothers features.
"Oh spare me your b.s." Stefan burst so loud it echoed in the kitchen. "The only person you're loyal to is yourself and the skirt you're trying to get under. If you had helped me, it wouldn't be for some noble reasons, it would've been to get me away from Bonnie."
He snort because Stefan was on a no b.s. policy today.
"My reasons varied but I still was going to help you." He says again. "I gave you my word!"
"Since when has that ever been enough!' Stefan bellows. "You punish me for Katherine. You intentionally go after the woman I love and I'm supposed to believe you?"
He clicks his tongue. "I guess we will never know then huh. You went behind my back and tried to take Bonnies magic away. When all you had to do was wait. I owed you and I was going to come through."
Stefan grits his teeth. "It's too late! I needed my brother but in the end I knew I could never count on you." He grins. "So in the end all this is your fault. "Everything that happened with Bonnie and the elders it's on you."
When Stefan holds up his glass he smacks it out of his hand all reality t.v. style.
"Fine you can blame me for a lot of things, but" He says in his brothers face. "What you were planning to do to Bonnie is on you." He says poking his brother in the chest. Do you even realize what you've done and what could've happen. If Elena and Bonnie switched places what would have happened to the supernatural world?"
He pushes at Stefan again. "You made her believe that we were going to trade her for Elena, that I was going to trade her for Elena!" He says as his voice gets louder. You made her believe the worst of us and now she's with Klaus!"
Stefan rolls green eyes. "Trust me. She'll be fine."
He can't help it. He shakes Stefan. He's trying to snap him out of it. In the background he can hear his mother warning him that Stefan is slightly human now and to stop it.
Taking a step back, he speaks again. "You could've gotten us killed or worst! The elders are ticked off at us. Who knows how long we will be on the list."
Stefan takes a grape and pops it into his mouth and the similarities to him is so obvious.
"Stop trying to be me Stefan. It doesn't work."
Stefan hums to himself. "It's worked for you. And after losing the love of my life twice, I think I'm gonna start doing this I want to."
Having heard enough Victoria stands up and drops a plate to the floor gaining their attention.
"That is enough!" she says eyes wide. "I will not let that stench of the Petrova hussy to continue to ruin this family! This bitterness has to go now. You both hurt each other and brought in women that you cared deeply for," She reaches out and grabs a hold of each of her sons hands. "And now you have to live without them."
"This started with Katherine." He says matter of fact.
"Followed by many others bringing us to Elena." Stefan reminded.
"And it ended with Bonnie."
Victoria nods sadly. "You have to let them go, because you can't have each other and hold onto the anger you have for losing these women as well."
Stefan chuckles. "Moms right." He says putting his hand out. "It seems we're even now. You wreck my life the life I was loving, and in return I ruined the life you wanted." He smiles. "The only difference, I know what loving and being loved by Elena fills like. And I will carry that forever. She will not be in my heart or in the back of my mind." Stefan says a thoughtful expression on his face. "However, I'm at peace knowing that you were a bad habit Elena was unable to quit."
Annoyed he walks away from the table before he knocks his brother really hard. "I'm no denying that we had our moments of destruction . . . that doesn't mean I didn't care?"
Stefan nods. "Sure. You call obsession and infatuation love." He chuckles. "Different day, different girl, same Damon."
He whirls around to face his brother. "Are you done because I've got plenty to say to you? You think you're the only one worth loving, worth saving but you're wrong."
"Okay Damon. You know the best part about being honest, is that I can tell you that if you weren't so busy trying to ruin my life, you may have gotten to Bonnie before Klaus." A sly grin crosses his features. "You two looked good together," He sucks his teeth. "Too bad you'll never know what she really tastes like."
As soon as Stefan finished talking, he used vampire speed to rush him. His fist connects to that strong jaw so many women fawn over. He wondered what they would think of Stefan now? The crack is so loud it rattles in his own ears.
"Get up!" He roars.
Stefan hops up quickly and soon starts rattling spells. It seems baby brother had spent the night learning spells.
Out of the corner of his eyes he can see Victoria has thrown her hands up in the air and is now drinking from a bottle of bourbon.
He's down on his knees with a mega headache while Stefan is grinning creepily. He will never get used to this. His brother is in mid rant about Elena and he uses this opportunity to kick him. He's about to pull an old school wrestling move when suddenly he hears something in the background.
"Why'd you stop?" Stefan asks breathing hard.
He flips up and looks around trying to gauge the direction the sound is coming from. On his way to the end of the kitchen he snatches the bottle of bourbon out of his mothers hands only to have it taken away by Stefan.
"We've got company." He says through gritted teeth.
Stefan sighs. "I told Caroline now was not a good time to rehash." He grumbles though his mouth is swollen.
He listens. "It's not Caroline. Judging by the sound of the car it's much older than the one she drives."
Thick brows furrow. "Klaus? It wouldn't surprise me he does like to prove his superior. He's also a sore winner." Stefan says dryly.
He listens again and inhales. The scent is masked so all he can do is listen. The sounds of clicking of five inch heels start to echo. "Nope."
"Bonnie would never." Stefan says matter of fact.
"Would you like something else broken with your broken jaw?"
"No." Stefan says curtly. "But I'm gonna drink your blood and heal."
He shoots him a look. Stefan is gonna wait a while before he gets his blood.
Victoria stands between her sons. "I can go and answer the door." The Matriarch says causing her sons to look at each other.
Finally the sound of a furious heartbeat hits his ears. "It's Lucy and I'm guessing she's come to collect." He then looks to Stefan. "You might want to make yourself scarce."
Stefan flips him the bird. "I'm not afraid of Lucy."
The sound of the door breaking of the hinges quiets them.
"You should be." Lucy says now standing before the Salvatore family.
BB-KM
Bonnie and Klaus
Manicured fingernails tapped against denim clad white jeans. A heart-shaped mouth was twisted and nibbled to the plumpest, most juicy thing he had ever seen and the owner of that mouth and those succulent thighs was a million miles away.
He knew his wife better than she imagined. And it was because he knew her, he knew that sh*t just got real for her. The natural fight or flight that was in her was probably starting to kick in. That was, why he needed to soothe her fear and worries.
With a gentle touch he places his hand on top of hers. "You know, you have nothing to worry about." He says with a glance.
I chance a look in his direction, surprised for the umpteenth time that he realized change in demeanor. I was excited to meet his father, glad to see the light in his eyes. Still I had worries. So many running through me mind that to say it out loud might cripple us both.
"This is important." I say in a minute. "I'm meeting your father." That enough was to cause pause. "The original wolf, I have so many questions for him and . . . " I look down at my fingers. "What if he doesn't like me?"
He snorts. Bonnie had this thing about her where when you met her even if she passed you by, you'd want her to like you. It was why so many people fought so hard to be in her presence. It was why the Salvatore brothers had tried and failed to stay in her good graces; the reason he would continue to fight for her and this marriage.
"Everyone who is graced with your presence likes you."
"Except your sister she just started to thaw out to me."
"Bekah can be a snot."
"Caroline didn't like me much either."
"Caroline is also a jealous afterthought that is in the pocket of the Salvatore brothers."
I give him a look, which he only smirks in return.
"I wish I wore something better." I say motioning to my ensemble. I was going to come face to face with the original wolf and I had on a pair of skin tight white distressed jeans and a mens dress shirt.
His eyes linger on her. "Trust me, you're fine."
I let out a sigh."Your father is like the King of Wolves." I remind him.
"Yeah. And you and I are both royalty in our own right." He says quickly. "You are not an ordinary woman nor I an ordinary man. You are the Queen of the Supernatural Kingdom." He bites his lip. "And well, we all know I'm the Hybrid King."
I smiled just a bit. "I just want everything to go okay." I say finally. "And I think it will go much better if I wasn't so underdressed." I let out a sigh. "I would check my luggage for a quick change of clothes, but I have a feeling that Lucy has gone through it and taken out everything she thought was boring." I say causing Klaus to laugh.
"With my luck she packed nothing but clothes that show off lots of t and a."
He could only grin and hope Lucy had changed a few things just for him.
Stopping the car, he looks over at Bonnie who still looks worried. He could fix that with a simple buck of the hips and a twist of the tongue.
"What you need to do is get rid of some of that nervous energy." She gives him a look. "As your husband it is my duty to be your personal outlet." He grins. "I am willing and able to get the job done."
My eyes widen. We had fooled around earlier and it did help my nerves– but right now that was not gonna happen.
"Have you lost your mind?"
"Nope." He says taking off his seatbelt. "I'm as sane as ever." Pause he licks lips. "I'm ready to do my duty," smile. "For the cause and all."
I bite back a grin of my own because I've never seen him so happy and so playful.
"Klaus." I chastise as he gets closer.
He gives me his famous "I could eat you up love" eyes.
"Five minutes . . . I just need to touch– taste. Five minutes." He says as his hand makes skin contact.
I get it. I feel it. The energy around us is charged. This next step is big for the two of us and as individuals.
I lean up against his lips and meld them to mine. His hand runs through my hair, as he starts to take control. When I feel him go for my shirt, I push him away.
"I'm not gonna meet your father smelling like sex." I say when he looks at me with ever-changing eyes.
He dimples despite himself. Her words are a bit sobering but not sobering enough. He still wants her with maddening so. "You're addicting you know that," He says breathing hard. "So addicting." He says his thumb brushing against her lip.
I raise my brow. "So you've said many, many times." I say with my hand in his hair. He's close really close and grinning in my face.
A knock on the car door causes the two of us to still. I look to Klaus who winks before settling back down.
He counts to ten and hopes he doesn't decide to kill whomever who had interrupted he and his wife. With a patience he is not use to having, he draws the window down so that only his eyes are seen. It's then that he sees Ansel with a familiar glint in his eyes.
"You know. I can hear you?" Ansel says matter of fact.
"Thank you for that reminder." He says smiling all teeth. He spares a glance in the direction of his wife who is flushed faced and smelling ripe.
"That power surge is something else." Ansel continues.
He chuckles. Ansel has no idea. "Give us a few minutes will you?"
Ansel nods and says a quick, of course son before he walks back to the house.
I watch as he walks away. "Oh my gosh! This is what I was afraid of. He probably is thinking all kinds of things."
He chuckles. "It could've been worst. I could have been smacking on sweets." He looks over at her. "My blood sugar is low." He says with a shrug.
I grab his face. "I'm gonna need you to get it together." I say quickly. "And keep it in your pants." I say looking him up and down.
He cracks a grin at her. "It is." It's then that he looks down. "Well mostly."
