A.N. Hey all! I hope you're all having a wonderful year thus far! I hope all of you are safe. Thank you for the love you sent for the last chapter, it was a wild one. I wanted to show Bonnie at a point where she was finally standing up for herself. As for Klaus I wanted to show everything he had been feeling for a while and finally get all that out in the open.
With that said, on to this chapter! Enjoy!
Chapter 27: The dance of the fools
Flashback
I stood toe to toe with Summer. I had been tired of people thinking they could play games with my life, I was not a chess piece on a board and I didn't appreciate people thinking that they could play with my life. Summer didn't get to walk away unscathed and neither would Damon.
"Before you running off," I say holding onto the door before she even dares to open it. "If you ever pull another stunt all the effort to break up me and my husband," I say grinning over at her. "You'll make an enemy out of me." I say touching a lock of her hair. "And you don't want that." I whisper close to her ear.
When I move away from the door Summer is eager to leave, but my words stop her.
"Tonight, when you go to sleep, you'll dream of all the ways you saw how much Klaus loves and wants me." I say causing her to pause. "And if you don't fall asleep tonight, it happen the next night, and so on. Only when you truly see what you need to see, will the spell ever end."
Summer turns around her face stark red. "You- you know I'm a vampire! I don't need sleep."
I grin. "Yes, but I also know that vampires can fall asleep. If you can't fall asleep then the echos of me and my husband will just be soft whispers till you actually succumb to sleep."
I watch as a tear runs down her face. "Oh honey," I say mockingly. "All you have to do tonight is get some rest, face the truth and all will be well in the morning."
Summer composes herself after a few more tears in vain and the walks out of the bathroom, with me leisurely walking behind.
End of flashback
After my talk with Summer I had felt more rejuvenated then even I thought possible. Like the snake I knew she was, Summer had slithered away seconds after I had given her a high definition view of Klaus and I. It may have been a bit harsh, invasive even, but it gave her incentive to make tracks and that was something that was beneficial to the two of us.
I had even somehow convinced Ansel to accompany me on the rest of the rides since Klaus was a baby when it came to getting on any kind of ride. You'd think because he was nearly invincible a little roller coaster would be the least of his worries, but no he whined about the fact that any sort of amusement ride that could get set up and put back together in mere hours was last thing he wanted to be on. You'd think the rides were made out of white oak or something?
"You seem much better than you were earlier." Ansel says in that knowing way.
I turn to look at him as our buggie starts to make it way up to the steep loop. "I'm great." I say offering him a megawatt smile.
"And this has nothing to do with the fact that Summer is no longer around?" Ansel says matter of fact. He was not as blind as Klaus nor Bonnie had thought he to be. He could tell that something was brewing under the surface and if the two weren't careful it may explode.
Without much thought, I've frozen the ride and everyone around us so that Ansel and I could really talk. "It has everything to do with the fact that Summer isn't around." I say causing him to raise his brows in surprise at my outburst. "She's in love with my husband." I say, and just as I thought, Ansel seems to be privy of that knowledge as well. "She and I needed to talk, woman to woman." I say finally. "She may be Klaus longtime friend, but I'm his wife and I won't be disrespected nor will I allow her to disrespect my marriage or try to manipulate the friendship they share in her favor." I say never realizing that I needed to get all of that off my chest.
I know that Klaus and I were probably on shaky ground but one thing remained and that was, we were still married. So, Summer and Damon needed to respect that because things weren't changing any time soon.
Ansel strokes his chin. "Well, that's interesting."
I lick my lips. "Klaus and I may not have started out picture perfect, or even what I imagined my life would be like– but we're in this together and it's time people realize that."
Ansel reaches across and touches my hand. "Good to hear." He says looking back out at everyone who is frozen in place. "Care to start the ride up again?"
I twitched my fingers and soon everything came back to life, from the sounds of laughter, the smell of food and the games.

When we got off the ride Klaus and Smooth were waiting for us. The stuffed animals that had been won had already been taken back to the house leaving the hybrid and wolf to wait for our arrival.
"How was it?" Klaus asks surprising just about everyone.
I caught eyes with him. "It was just what I needed." I say looking from Klaus to Smooth. "Who doesn't want their heart racing and their voice nearly going hoarse from the thrill of the ride?"
He can only snort at her words. "I know you've planned to continue getting on those contraptions, however I was hoping, maybe we could have a moment alone?"
The surprise must have been evident on my face because everyone was looking at me expectantly. "I um," I say fiddling with my wedding ring. "Okay."
Ansel clears his throat. "Well, Smooth and I will leave you to it.
When the pair flounder off Klaus and I were standing in front of each other.
"Are you sure you're ready to talk to me?" I ask expectantly.
He dimples at her words. "Perhaps if you're ready to listen." He muses. As his eyes run all over her face and wind blown hair.
I cross my arms I front of my chest as he does the same. "I'm in,"I say as he steps closer. "If you're in."
He steps closer invading my space. "With you, I'm always all in."

Amelia Mikaelson
The idea to show up to Ansel's perfect sanctuary had been on her mind since they had last spoke. He blamed her for the distance between she and Klaus but what he hadn't understood was that she had done everything in her power to keep her family together. As a mother she could've done more to protect Klaus, she could've given him love enough for both mother and father... however she had so many things going on at that time. Not to mention she had five other children that needed her just as much. Finn has left long ago to live with her parents but she still wondered what her eldest son was doing under the thumb of her parents. Then their was Elijah who Mikael was grooming to take just like he, as he had lost Finn to her parents long ago. Rebekah had been her only daughter and she had wanted to dote on her little girl like mothers are supposed to, and Kol was always in some kind of mischievous thing. Klaus had suffered because she had wanted not to draw too much attention not just herself but him as well. And that was why she had settled for being distant with all her children, but mainly him. It was her way of protecting him, and it backfired.
She loved her children, all of them. Despite the fact that they all thought she was too wrapped up in her love for Mikael she loved them all, especially Niklaus. He was a product of a love she had only wished to have, a love that was pure, one that was timeless.
Fleeing to the closet she pulls out a suitcase. She had not gone a vacation in so long, in fact everything she had done had been about Mikael but today she was going to do something different. She was going to where her children stay and if Mikael had anything to say she would claim it was to meet her daughter in law.
What she really wanted was to see it with her own two eyes, Niklaus happy with his bride.
Thirty minutes later she's all packed. Although she has no idea the details of her childrens lives, she is positive that one phone call to Rebekah or Kol could change all that. She's determined to strike while the mood is in her because if she pauses for one second, she'll stay and things won't change at all.
Just as she's zipped the last suitcase she can feel him enter her domain. Her blood runs cold at the mere sound of his footsteps.
Taking a deep breath she readies herself for what he has to say.
"Going somewhere darling?" Mikael asks his voice like ice cold water.
She licks her teeth and turns around to face her husband who is so close, she's surprised her chilled flesh didn't feel his breath on her neck. "I'm going to see the children." She says flinging her hair back over her shoulder. "I do not know when I will return, but I will stay in contact." She says attempting to walk away only to have Mikael grab her by the wrist.
He smiles that charming devious smile and she readies for his words.
"Why don't we make it a family affair." He says fingering the charms on her bracelet. His fingers loom over the moon and star charm before he lets her go altogether.
She places her hand on his chest. "That is not necessary. If the children see you, they will be in attack mode. I want them on my side," She says using her other hand to touch his face. "Which is your side." She reminds.
He looks her up and down with a scrutinizing eye. "And what of Niklaus and his bride?" He asks affronted. "You expect me to believe you are not going to see them?"
She smiles. "I will use this opportunity to get close to my son," She says her teeth clenching. "And my daughter in law." She smiles. "The newly appointed Queen of the supernatural world."
He bends down to kiss her lips. "Remember darling, when you're done with your games, the girl is mine." He says pulling away.
Numbly she watches as he reels her in and then pulls away.
"Enjoy your fun Amelia." Mikael says pulling away. "And do tell the children, that I still have a bone to pick with each one of them." He says before whistling on his way out.
When she's sure he's gone she grabs her bags and heads in the opposite direction.
Quickly she makes it to the car and phones the one person she knows will pick up Kol. Her call goes to voice message easily. "Kol, it's mother, I need to see you it's important."

Kol
Kol Mikaelson had since long learned that avoidance was not necessary key, though it prolonged things in the end you still had to deal with shit. Of course being whom he was, he continued on as if nothing had happen. That of course was the reason he had ended up at Brees bar while said woman was locking up.
He didn't want to talk to his mother right now, though eventually he would call her and as for going home, he'd rather listen to Damon Salvatore whine than go home.
"Two ghost from the past in the same day, I'd say it was fate but we all know this is something in the realm of you trailing Lucy." Bree says turning around to face him.
He tilts his head eyeing the way she looks in her tight jeans and even tighter shirt. "Do me a favor darling and hand the keys over, I'll lock up I promise."
Bree turns to look at the disheveled original. "Don't you have a brewery in that mansion of yours?"
He wags his finger in her direction. "It's not my house, it belongs to your ex boyfriend." He says chuckling at the flicker in her eyes. It seemed Bree was holding on just as much as he were. They were all pretending, all of them! "Plus I don't feel like going home any time soon."
She snaps her fingers. "Right, because Lucy is back and probably still in love with Elijah." She says smartly. "You were always the runt of the litter."
He growls and rushes her only for the witch to hold her hand up with an invisible shield her way.
"Listen we can go back and forth all night, " Bree says breezily. "But assuming your still reeling from Lucy and her return home, and I'm in shock about Klaus and his bride going on some romantic adventure."
He snorts.
"How about you just come home with me so we can get them both out of our heads?"
He breathes hard and soon she puts the force field around her down. "When I take you, I'll probably call you Lucy." He says knowingly. Though Lucy and Bree looked nothing alike he had a wonderful imagination.
She shrugs her shoulders. "It's fine with me, I was gonna call you Klaus anyway." She says matter of fact.
He can only grin. They were two peas in a pod, glutton for punishment.
She bites her lip. "I know a spell, it's the one I've been using with Sam, it'll change your appearance to look like him, and for you I'll change my appearance to look like her."
He gives her a curt nod and she motions for him to join her.

Rebekah
Rebekah Mikaelson strolled down the mansion hallway as if it were her own personal runway. She had hoped getting up and moving hoping it would stop the feeling that had washed over her. The house was too quiet with Niklaus and his bride long gone. Kol had opted to stay out as opposed to coming home. She had hoped the moment he drifted to sleep that maybe it might stop the madness but seconds later after his eyes had been closed he was up and rearing to go. She could've joined him but, one look had told her all she needed.
Vaguely she could hear the sound of a lone heartbeat as Lucy had rested. She could hear the sound breathing of the witch and the murmurs she made in her sleep. Elsewhere Marcel was on the phone whispering into a phone about the family needing him and that he was going to stay longer than expected. She tried to block out the female voice which was saying words of love and something about missing him. The ache in her heart twisted on further, when Marcel had dared to reply that he missed the woman Camille too.
Walking further down the hall the feeling that had left her unsettled had continued on. She had thought after calming Kol down if only for a little while would've calmed her nerves but that was a strong no. She had this inking that a storm was brewing and it wasn't the kind that occurred because of the weather.
Everything was such a mess.
With Kol being Kol and showing cracks in his armor, and Klaus gone it was up to her to pull their brother from the ledge. The only problem was that she feared that this time it wouldn't be enough. She doubted that this task was something she was up for, especially with Marcel here pulling at her heartstrings without even knowing.
If only Elijah was here, he would be able to pull the family back together in his own way. Of course they and she meant her brothers would ignore him at first but Elijah always had a way of straightening them all out. The only problem was that Elijah brought with him baggage that of his own.
Sighing she comes to a stop at the open bedroom door. This had been the room of Elijah and now without him in it, it seemed wrong that it was left ajar for the whole world to impose on.
She stands against the doorframe and surveys the damage. Lucy had really done a number the once pristine room. Elegant suits had been burned to ashes. But what was the most heartbreaking was the shattered picture frames that had once held precious memories.
Upon further inspection she found that Lucy had even gone as far as to place her engagement ring on the bedside table. As sad as it was, maybe it was time to finally close the book of Elijah and Lucy, and well past it time to close the chapter of Kol and Lucy. A girl could only deal with so much. And Lucy had been put through the wringer with her brothers.
"Snooping?"
Turning around she catches sight of Marcel. He's got a glass of Gin in each hand and a smile adorning his lips that could warm the coldest of hearts.
"More like surveying the damage." She says finally finding her voice.
When he comes closer offering her a drink she obliges with a small smile. Had her heart been able to beat it would've stopped at the mere sight of him. She still couldn't believe that he was here and like always she wanted to bask in his love, but like always the timing was wrong.
He lifts his hand out to touch hers. "Lucy is upset but it's understandable." He says carefully. "Sometimes you have to burn everything down to the ground to build it up again."
She blinks at his words. "Are you saying that after everything," She swallows hard. "You still believe in the power of love?" She hates the way her voice wavers as if she waiting on baited breath, but in reality it's the truth.
He shrugs his shoulders. "If two people are meant to be together, they'll find a way to be together." He pauses eyes shining. "Love is love. Sometimes it hurts and sometimes it doesn't. But we fight for those we love, tooth and nail."
She licks her lips. "Always and forever."

Bonnie and Klaus
After excusing ourselves Klaus leads the way till we reached a garden with the most exquisite flowers I've ever seen. Rich hues that resemble a rainbow fill the area as multi colored flowers are in full bloom in front of us.
"It's beautiful." I say turning around to see Klaus watching me.
He shrugs his shoulders. "I thought you'd like it." He says his lips curling. He walks ahead and fingers different flowers letting his finger tips linger over the petals. Each flower is unique telling its own story, some are soft as what one would imagine a cloud. While other flowers are have thorns on them. Then there are the flowers that are smooth almost untouched by the world, of course those flowers look pristine while the flowers that show signs of life in the form of folds, creases and what many consider imperfections.
I watch him as he looks as he examines the flowers. "Is this your garden?" I ask causing him to look up from the flower he's plucked.
"Ansel and I started it, when I was at a low point." He says refusing to add any more or less to it. The knowledge that this all came about due to his feelings about losing the child had been something he had rather not speak about.
I shift from one foot to the other. I try to tamper down my emotions which are still all over the place with him. Being alone with him, reminds me of the hurtful words he spat my way. They were honest but they still hurt. He hurt me, with his words, how he reacted and instantly believed Summer over me. I was a lot of things but I wasn't a liar. "You brought me out here for a reason, you said you wanted to talk." I ask trying to tamper my voice to stop the shaking.
"What happened between you and Summer." He asks opting for a different route in this conversation. He was very much aware she was still upset with him. But he couldn't feel sorry for her because he meant every word. He had been willing with her to do everything and she had pushed him away for Damon Salvatore. How was he supposed to believe her when she had let him down so many times?
My head dips for a second as I bite back a scathing remark. I thought he wanted to talk about us but I guess in order to talk about us, we needed to wade through the bull. "I told Summer, that I knew she was in love with you." I say causing him to run his hand over his neck. "I also informed her that I aware of her intentions and I wasn't having it."
He rubs his jaw. "She looked spooked." He admits. One part of him is thrilled to see her jealous streak, to see her finally stake some sort of claim on him, the other part is impressed that she managed to rattle Summer and the last part is still trying to figure everything the fuck out.
I place my hands on my hips. "Good." I say finally. "Our marriage is ours, and ours only."
He fiddles with the flower in his hand. "You really believe that?"
"Do you?" I snap. "Why am here Klaus? Your brought me all the way out here to your sanctuary, your brought me to this garden and you haven't even said anything!" I burst out.
When he still say nothing but continues to look my way as if I need to say more I turn on my heel ready to go.
This trip was supposed to bring us together. It was suppose to be a reset and one little phone call managed to ruin everything.
"You're hurt, I get that, I really do– but if you don't want me here then say it and I'll leave." I say after a long time.
He chuckles bitterly. "It's so easy for you to turn around and leave isn't it?" He questions darkly. "I've been fighting for us from the very beginning and yet the first thing you think about is running away." He's angry, so very angry! The little bit of compulsory is gone.
I turn around so sharp I nearly bump into him. "I'm here right now and you're not saying anything!" I cry out. "Tell me what you want, what you need and I'll give it to you! But don't just stand here and look at me!"
"What do you want me to say?" He nearly roars. He can't help it, he's in her space, in her face. His mind had been racing thinking about every little word said, and most importantly her reaction or lack of reaction.
The night before he had made love to her, he had kissed her, touched her, made her his number one priority. He connected with her on more than just a sexual level. He knew she felt it too.
"Anything!" I exclaim. "Everything with that phone call was a misunderstanding! Our wires got messed up or something because I never called Damon." I let out a sigh. "And what you heard him say..."
He stands tall arms crossed in front of his chest. "You were in love with him, were you not?" He asks waiting for my reply. I suddenly feel like it's a set up, but hold my ground.
"I thought I was." I answer honestly. He closes his eyes in response and I bite my lip. "All I ever heard about was how he saved my life, how we were this destined to be couple and I think I fell in love with the fairy tale of it all."
When he looks down I continue speaking. "But I came here with you, you were the one holding me last night, not him."
He sucks his teeth. "Are you still in love with him, do you have any ounce of love for him left." He asks gasping my shoulders. "I will not share you, not with him, not with anyone." He licks his lips. "If we do this, if we continue this, then you're all mine, no backing out, no changing your mind."
My eyes roam all over his face. "I don't want him. I don't love him." I say stepping away from him. "You either can trust me or not, I can't change the past, I can"t change how you feel."
It's then that we stand watching each other. I didn't want to keep going in circles with him about this. We were happy, last night, this morning– we were happy and Damon and Summer they just funked up everything. One of us had to make a move, a mature move and it was going to be me. "I'll give your space." I say turning on my heel once again.
I just wanted to go back to the house and meditate or something. It was obvious we weren't getting anywhere here, so why push it. I had to just wait for him to sort out his feelings.
"Don't go." He says in an instant hand wrapped around my waist.
"Why so you can continue to look at the flowers instead of actually talking to me?"
He swallows hard. "The thought of you leaving me, running to Damon Salvatore, even speaking to him– it had me reacting before anything else." He says letting her go.
"I told you-,"
Once he stands far enough he speaks. "I know what you told me. But you expect me to think rationale when you are my everything. How many times have I gotten my hopes up with you-only for you to turn away from me, to run away from me." He says pointing to himself.
"I'm sorry about all of that Klaus, I really am. I didn't realize how much you cared."
His reply is to glance over at me.
I wrap my arms around myself. "I can't change the past!" I say honestly. "You just have to trust that right now in this moment, I'm here." I say stepping closer. "I'm not going to go back," I say capturing his hand in mine. "And you have to believe me when I say that, or we might as well stop this right now."
He leans his head down so that his forehead is meshed against hers. "Don't you know, I can't stop. I'll never stop loving you." He says finally.
At his powerful words I feel my eyes prickle with tears. "Then we'll find a way to block out all the noise and concentrate on us." I admit. "We can't let people like Damon and Summer, get in the way of what we're building."
He brightens at her words. Interlopers had never been a problem in the past, but he reckons that now that people had seen he and Bonnie, more would start climbing out of the wood work. He couldn't allow anyone to destroy them, not even if it were from within.
I smile up at him. "It's you and me."
"Always and forever, love." he says kissing her cheek.
Wrapped in his arms I feel content, I feel like we're finally back on track. This was a first real fight as a real couple, and although we had both slung mud, the words of Smooth and Ansel had rung in my head. I would always try to work it out in my marriage, and most importantly never go to bed mad.
"You do realize, that my father is planning our second wedding as we speak."
I pull away to look at him. "Yeah?"
"Yeah." he says with a nod. "You up for that?"
I lick my lips. What better way to start this thing that Klaus and I were finding ourselves in, then with a vowel renewal. "Yeah and perhaps this time we can put the past to rest."
He opens his mouth to say something when she presses herself against him, and soon her lips are on his, and his hand is tangled in her hair.
Letting go of the past had never been easy for him, he held onto his grievance to keep him warm at night, but for her, he would try.

Mikael
Mikael sat alone in his study at what he had been working on. It was marinette dolls that resembled his family. In order for him to succeed and taking what Niklaus had cherished the most, he needed his children and wife to play out the roles the had been dealt long ago.
To crush the hybrid and bane of his existence he would have to start from the inside and let the chips fall where they may. In each hand he holds a marionette one that is Klaus the other Bonnie.
"You Bonnie, will be the one to send him to his death." He says looking at the doll. "And when you turn your back on him." He says dropping the doll resembling Klaus. "I will be here ready to capitalize on his failure."
He puts down the dolls and soon stands at the window. "Enjoy your happiness now boy, it'll a happiness that is only fleeting."
