December 2nd: Letters to the Santas
After a very busy day of tending to Christmas shoppers, the residents of Radiator Springs gathered at Flo's, enjoying a delicious dinner and warm beverages (there wasn't any snow yet, but it was definitely growing colder). Fudge was lolled about on the floor, scribbling at a piece of paper determinedly.
Flo smiled as she placed a plate of food in front of the little girl. "What are you doin', honey?"
"I'm writing my letters to the Santas!" she replied.
"You sure are organised, Fudge", Doc commented with a smile of his own. "We're still eating leftover turkey from Thanksgiving."
Fudge shrugged. "I just want to make sure I'm ready." She threw her pencil down. "Done! D'you wanna hear?"
"Of course!" everyone replied.
The six-year-old made a big deal of clearing her throat and stood up straight, as if she were about to do an oral report for school. Then she began.
"'Dear Santa Claus and Santa Car, I have been very, very, very good this year. I hope you think so. This year, I want more toy race cars and a big new track for them. I want more of the yummy chocolate coins I got last year. But the main thing I want is a really fun Christmas with my family. Last Christmas wasn't very good because we thought I'd be taken away, but I wasn't. So, please make sure we have a very good Christmas. Thank you, Love, Fudge Rossi-Topolino.'"
Luigi's eyes filled with tears. "Oh, Fudgie! Come here!"
Fudge climbed up onto his hood and he sobbed some more. So did Guido as he hugged her.
"(We love you so much, Fudgie!)" Guido declared.
"I am sure your wish will come true", Luigi added.
"It did last year", Fudge reminded him. "I wished there was a way I could stay in Radiator Springs. And I did."
That just made her dads cry even more and hug her even tighter.
'Has anybody else made a list yet?" Fudge wanted to know.
"I don't need to", Luigi declared. "I already have the most perfect gift already."
"What?" Fudge wondered.
"You!"
"But you have to write a letter, PapĂ !" Fudge insisted. "It's the rule!"
"That's right!" Mater agreed. "You got some more paper, Fudge?" She nodded, so the tow truck grabbed several sheets and passed them around. "Write yer letters, everybody! The Santas is comin' to town!"
