December 10th: Meeting Santa Car

"Is everyone ready to meet our very special guest from the North Pole?" Sally, who was dressed like an elf, quizzed a a large crowd of children gathered at the courthouse.

"Yes! Yes!" the children, including Fudge, shouted.

"Here he is!" Sally announced. "Santa Car!"

The children cheered as a dark red race car emerged from the courthouse. He had a snowplow attached to his front bumper; metal rods on either side, resembling a sleigh and a licence plate made to look like a beard. Still, Fudge recognised him.

Lightning smiled at the many excited young faces there were in front of him. He always knew that a lot of little kids looked up to him, but meeting Fudge really opened up his eyes to just how important that was.

"Ho, ho, ho!" Lightning shouted. "Merry Christmas!"

The first kids in line were twin dark blue Mustang GTs.

Santa McQueen smiled at them. "What are your names?"

"I'm Harry and he's Jordan."

"Hi, Harry and Jordan. What would you like for Christmas?"

"A puppy!" they answered in unison.

"A puppy?" Lightning repeated with a smile.

"Yep, like a Labrador or a Golden Retriever or something", Jordan added.

After getting their picture taken with Santa and receiving one little piece of chocolate each, Harry and Jordan left.

One by one, all of the kids came up to Lightning and told him what they wanted for Christmas. A human girl named Katie made him laugh with a Christmas list with exactly two hundred and thirty-five things on it. A black muscle car named Dirk made him a little uncomfortable, demanding the Xbox he'd insisted on getting the previous year. A purple Porsche named Lily was very sweet. All she wanted was for her father, who was stationed overseas, to come home.

Finally, it was Fudge's turn. "Hi, Santa Car!"

Lightning smiled at her. "Hello there. What's your name?"

"Fudge!"

"What an unusual name!"

Fudge smiled. "I know! Did you get my letter?"

"I sure did. So, I know exactly what you want for Christmas: a good Christmas with your family."

Fudge nodded eagerly. "That's right."

"Well, I'm sure you'll get that in Radiator Springs."

"(Let me get your picture, Fudgie!)" Guido got his camera ready.

Fudge leaned in close and smiled. "I know it's really you, Lightning", she whispered. "I'm just pretending for the others."

Lightning smiled too and gave her a little chocolate before the next kid came along.

I thought it would be cute to make Lightning pretend to be Santa since he'd learned a lot about caring for others that year.

I hope I don't sound too whiny when I say this, but I have been getting a little discouraged by the lack of reviews lately. So, if you want to see this story continued, then please review, so I know people are actually enjoying it. Thanks for understanding.
