Once again, this one will get referenced throughout the story. Enjoy! :)
December 12th: Cast
"Okay, I think that's jus' 'bout it!" Mater announced, satisfied, throwing his pencil down.
"Yeah", Fudge agreed, sighing with relief.
"Dinner's ready", Flo announced as everyone scrambled to get their mac and cheese.
"Thanks, Flo!" they chorused.
"What have you two been workin' on?" Fillmore quizzed Mater and Fudge curiously. "I thought you finished your letters to the Santas over a week ago."
"This is something different", Fudge explained.
"Fudge and I done had a great idea", Mater added.
"Actually, it was my idea", Fudge corrected him. "We should put on a Christmas play."
"Christmas play?" Sarge repeated. "For whom?"
"Four ourselves", Fudge answered impatiently.
"Then who will see it?" Ramone wondered.
"Hopefully, no one", Doc muttered.
"Maybe we can film it", Lightning suggested.
Mater's eyes lit up. "Yeah! Then I can send it to all my cousins. I bet they would love to see it!"
Everyone smiled. Not one of them really wanted to do a Christmas play, but they were all willing to humour Fudge and Mater.
"Now, listen", Mater continued, "we is gon' put on the Nativity play."
"Just like you and the Donovans did when you were kids!" Flo recalled with a smile. She also remembered her own daughters getting involved in those plays.
"That's right", Mater confirmed.
"I think that is a very good idea", Luigi put in. He was no more enthusiastic than anybody else, but he felt that putting on the Nativity play would be educational for his daughter. She loved Christmas, but had no idea why they actually celebrated it.
"Me too", Mater agreed. "Now, me and Fudge have already done decide who got what parts." He consulted a little scrap of paper. "McQueen and Sally, y'all got the parts of Mary and Joseph. Me, Ramone and Sarge is gonna be the wise men. Red and Fillmore, you is the shepherds. The angels is Fudge, Flo and Lizzie. Sheriff's the innkeeper and the animals is Luigi and Guido." (Neither one of the Italians looked very happy about that.) "And, Doc, we don't have a part for you."
"I'll be the cameraman", Doc volunteered. At least that way, he wouldn't actually be in the play.
"We made a script", Fudge added proudly, holding up four sheets of paper with writing on both sides. "Aunt Sally, could we use your photocopier to make more copies, please?"
Sally smiled and nodded. "Sure. After dinner."
"Everybody, make sure you git yer scripts!" Mater instructed. "We got work to do!"
I thought it would be an interesting concept. Please review! :)
