December 20th: Family

"Thanks for coming, Darrell."

"My pleasure. Thanks for inviting me."

"Hey, boss? I think it's time for me to hit the road too. I got a long trip back to Boston, but I wanted to wish you and everyone else a very merry Christmas."

"No problem, Mack. Merry Christmas to you too."

"Thanks for the party, Lightnin'. We had a great time."

"It was our pleasure, Mrs. The King. Drive safely."

"We will", The King assured Lightning. "Merry Christmas."

"And to you too."

Darrell Cartrip, Mr. and Mrs. The King and and Mack were the last ones to leave Radiator Springs. When they were gone, the townsfolk smiled at each other. The town was quiet. None of the motel rooms were booked until New Year's Eve. There might still be a couple of day-trippers from Ashgrove, but for the most part, they could now look forward to a nice, relaxing family Christmas.

All of the storeowners decided to close up early that day and lounge around Flo's for a while, sipping hot chocolate and hot oils.

"This is nice", Flo declared. "We can just relax, now that the Christmas rush is over."

"It did get a little crazy there for a while", Lizzie acknowledged. "I didn't think we'd get through it."

"But we did", Doc pointed out, relief evident in his voice.

"And I had a lot more donations for the toy drive than I thought I would", Red put in. "Thanks, everyone."

"And now, we can enjoy a nice, normal Christmas with our oddball family", Sarge added.

"Normal?" Mater repeated. "I hope y'all ain't expectin' that!" To prove his point, he flipped on the radio. "Merry Xmas, Everybody" by Slade came on and the tow truck performed a goofy dance to it.

Everyone laughed.

"Okay, maybe not completely normal", Sarge conceded. "As normal as it can possibly get around here."

"Oh! I almost forgot!" Flo exclaimed abruptly. "Terry dropped off a huge stack of mail. It looks like more Christmas cards."

As the ex show car distributed envelopes, Fudge pouted, expecting to be left out.

"And, Fudge, honey, there's somethin' here for you", Flo concluded.

The six-year-old's eyes lit up as she was handed an envelope. She tore it open and frowned when she saw it.

"It's our Christmas card!" she observed in dismay and confusion.

"Which we all gave to our loved ones", Luigi reminded her quickly.

"And that includes you, honey", Flo added.

Fudge beamed. "Can we put it on the shelf?" She pointed to where everyone else's cards had been displayed proudly.

"Of course", Flo assured her. "Then d'you wanna help me with dinner? It's just leftovers tonight. I wanna get rid of everything we're not gonna use for Christmas."

"Okay!" Fudge agreed.

"Then, after dinner, we should rehearse again", Mater suggested. "We only got a couple of days left till our show."

I just had no ideas for this day, so I just wrote this. Please review.
