It was early morning of Friday, July 4, 1986. Lori, Bobby, Ronnie Anne and Lincoln were sleeping together in Lori's bedroom. A rooster then crows in the distance. Lori wakes up refreshed and jumps up.
"Wow! It looks like today's the big day!" Lori said as she quickly and happily gets up and throws her curtains open and opens the window to get some fresh air. She then turns to Bobby and Lincoln, "Rise and shine, everybody!" and Bobby, Ronnie Anne and Lincoln wake up.
"Hey, babe. Can you keep it down?" Bobby said as he woke up.
"Yeah, Mom. it's 6:55 in the morning," Ronnie Anne said as she woke up.
"No, guys! Today's the big day!" Lori said happily.
"What?" Bobby asked.
"You mean, it's the day when America was declared a free country?" Lincoln asked.
"Yes, that's right, kids! Today's officially the 4th of July!" Lori explained as Leni comes into Lori's room as she yawned.
"Lori, what all the ruckus early this mor..." but Leni then discovers that today is actually July 4th, "Wait a minute... Lori said that it was the 4th of July. Hey, it is the fourth of July."
"Yeah, and the five of us have a big day plan ahead," Lori said as she shows Leni her planned schedule with Bobby, Lincoln, Ronnie Anne and Lily. As it follows...

"I have this plan all perfectly laid out. In 5 minutes, we're having an all-american breakfast with the Loud Family when everyone gets up. After breakfast, Bobby and I and the kids will change into our summer clothes, Yes, our swimsuits count for the 4th of July, and we'll head to the beach together where we'll be playing volleyball, playing in the water, building sandcastles and chilling under the sun. Then at 10:00, we'll be hosting a pool party with all our friends at the Community Swimming Pool. And then around quarter past noon, we'll have ourselves a lunch date at Gus' Games n' Grub. Then around 1:30, the fiveof us will be going to the the movies to see Disney's newest animated film, The Adventures of the Great Mouse Detective. Afterwards, we'll arrive back home just in time to get ready for the 4th of July Party at Ketcham Park which begins at 4:30 P.M. Dinner will be served there starting at 5:30, hamburgers, hot dogs and corn on the cobs served straight off a nice ol' grill. Then fireworks begin no later than 8:00 P.M., and then by around 11:00 P.M, the holiday will be over and we'll all wash up and be in bed for the night."
"Wow, that's actually a very well-laid out plan. Good luck at it, though," Leni said as Lori puts her day plan away.
"I have a feeling that today is going to be a wonderful Independence today this year," Lori said.
"I really hope so too, Mom," Ronnie Anne said to Lori.
"Yep, Just you, me, Lily, Ronnie Anne and Daddy all celebrating with one another," Lincoln said to Lori.
"Mm-hmm. It's gonna be a busy, but relaxing and fun one, too," Bobby said.
"KIDS! BREAKFAST IS READY!" Lynn Sr. and Rita both shouted as all the siblings notice their parents calling for them.
"We'll talk about that more later. Right now, I can smell the breakfast," Lori said.
"So do I," Ronnie Anne agreed, "Let's eat already!"
With that, they all head immediately out of their rooms and downstairs to the dining room where Rita and Lynn Sr. were sitting. Rita was setting the plates for everybody as she was filling them with pancakes, eggs, bacon, sausage, diced potatoes and toast. Rita was also pouring some hot chocolate from red, white and blue mugs. Upon the smell of the breakfast on the table, everyone immediately sat down at the table and notice that their plates were filled with such a delicious breakfast.
"Oh, boy!" Lana shouted happily.
"I can smell this big breakfast right in front of all of us!" Lynn shouted happily.
"Wow. This is such a big breakfast this morning!" Luna shouted happily.
"And some nice hot chocolate from red, white, and blue mugs," Leni commented romantically.
"Dig in, everyone!" Rita replied and they get ready to eat but Lori stops them.
"No, don't dig in yet!" Lori shouted.
"Lori, are you serious?" Rita complained.
"Before we start eating, we are going to say Grace," Lori suggested.
"Yeah, saying Grace is important at the start of each meal," Lincoln added.
"Okay, everyone, get with me and bow your heads," Lori commanded and they all then say grace, "Dear Lord, as now we break the fast, we thank thee for the night safe passed. Now grant safekeeping on our way. Good cheer and strength and health all day."
"Amen."
They all then get back to their normal sitting position.
"Okay, we're all ready to eat now," Ronnie Anne said to herself.
With that, they all then start eating their breakfast, while they're eating their breakfast, they are amazed at how delicious they are.
"Mmm, mmm, mmm. This is a delicious breakfast," Bobby said happily.
"Yeah, Pop makes a stunning breakfast," Luan said happily.
"Well, eat up, everyone, because Bobby, and the kids and I have a big day planned ahead," Lori said as the family continues eating their breakfast for the next 10-15 minutes while drinking some hot chocolate from their red, white and blue mugs.
After they finished their breakfast, the kids thanked their parents for the morning feast and Lynn and Luan assisted Lynn Sr. with the cleaning by washing the breakfast dishes. While Rita was setting down to a morning talk show, Lori was back in her room with Bobby, Lincoln, Ronnie Anne and Lily as she checked the first thing for today off their list.
"All right, breakfast has been devoured," Lori said to herself, "Now let's get ourselves a quick shower together so the five of us can be all set for the 4th of July."
"Yep, it's a long day ahead," Lincoln said.
"Yeah, and it's gonna be a great one," Ronnie Anne said all got ready for their big 4th of July by getting themselves a quick shower together.
After getting a quick shower, the five slipped on their summer clothes.
With Lori, she slipped on her red one-piece lifeguard swimsuit and paired it with a pair of blue jean shorts and some yellow sandals matching her goldenrod hair and a whistle hanging down from her neck while her boyfriend Bobby put on his red lifeguard swim trunks and paired it with a white T-shirt matching the lifeguard symbol on his trunks and a pair of white shoes with a whistle also hanging around his neck.
Lincoln on the other hand, switched into his orange swim trunks and paired it with his red T-shirt and a green pair of flip-flops, Ronnie Anne put on her purple one-piece floral print swimsuit, pairing it with her usual shorts and purple sandals, and Lori put a fresh clean swim diaper on Lily and slipped a purple onesie on her.
Soon afterwards, they brushed their teeth, combed their hair and put some deodorant on their armpits. Afterwards, they then got their stuff while Lori then grabbed her purse which had the keys to the Mustang, her diary with pencils, her camera with a film roll, her phone, five pairs of sunglasses (one for each person), three packs of SPF 50 sunscreen and some snacks for the five of them. They were then seen heading down to the Mustang when Leni decides to have a short speaking with them.
"Lori, Lincoln, Lily," Leni asked as they all stopped and turned to see her, "Where are you guys going?"
"Well, the five of us are about to start this day with a little trip to the beach," Lori explained and the others gasp.
"You five are going to the beach?" Lynn asked in shock.
"But we all have to get the park set up for the 4th of July Party," Luan said in worry.
"Now, girls. I'm pretty sure you all can handle the whole setting up thing to yourselves. I promise," Lori informed, "That means Mom and Dad as well."
"Lori, why are you and the kids going to the beach instead of helping us with the party and the fireworks?" Rita asked.
"Because, Mother, my kids and I need some relaxation time this 4th of July," Lori explained sternly, "And I can't let any of you ruin it this year."
"Um, o...kay. I guess that makes sense then," Luna said, "We'll all just cool off by our pool while we get things situated."
"Yeah, suit yourselves," Lola said softly.
"Okay, if that's what's best for you... Alright, guys. Time to head to the beach," Lori said happily.
"Yep. Come on, kids. We've got us a big heatwave to beat this summer," Bobby said happily as the four then head out the door and to the car where they put all their beach items in the back and then they got in with Lori driving upfront. They then pull out of the driveway and onto the road to the beach.
Later, they arrived at the beach and as soon as they parked, they got all their beach items out of the car and got everything situated before they all started relaxing right on the yellow sand. While they were at the beach, Bobby was watching for any drowning people in the water. Lori was sitting with Lincoln, Ronnie Anne and Lily, spraying them with sunscreen.
"Feels good. I really need sunscreen," Lincoln said relaxingly.
"I do too, Lincoln," Ronnie Anne said softly.
"Poo-poo," Lily agreed.
"That's right, kids. You do need it so you don't get sunburnt," Lori said softly to them.
"Hey, did Dad put any sunscreen on him?" Lincoln asked.
"Yep, he did the whole thing by himself. Sprayed it all over his body. Say, why don't we build us some sandcastles together, kids. how does that sound?" Lori suggested.
"Sounds great, Mom," Ronnie Anne said happily.
"Yeah, let's do it," Lincoln replied.
After they put their sunscreen on, the Lori and her kids Lincoln, Ronnie Anne and Lily proceeded to build some great sandcastles and Lori and Ronnie Anne were adding some seashells to their castles as Bobby walked up to them.
"Hey, honey. How are you doing? No drowning people so far, are there?" Lori asked Bobby.
"No, dear. Not at all. So we're doing great so far. Say, those are some nice sandcastles you make," Bobby commented.
"Gee. Thanks, honey," Lori said when suddenly...
"HELP!"
They hear someone screaming for help.
"Oh no. Someone might be in trouble," Lori said as she takes out a pair of binoculars, "I'm gonna have to take a look, but just to find out that..." Suddenly, her eyes become huge and break through the lenses of the binoculars and screamed in fear, "SOMEONE IS ACTUALLY DROWNING!"
It turns out that Lori sees a man drowning in water. and throws the binoculars aside.
"Come on, everybody! We gotta save that man! Kids, you're gonna have to help us!" Lori commanded as they then run to the shore, "HOLD ON, WE'LL SAVE YOU!" Lori screamed as they jump into the water and swim towards the drowning water with Lori carrying a life preserver in her hand, "DON'T MOVE! WE GOT YOU!" and she throws the life preserver out to the drowning person as he catches it. Lori, Bobby and the kids Lincoln, Ronnie Anne and Lily then bring the person back to shore where he sort of passes out on the sand and is now unconscious as Lori puts him on the ground, "Bobby, what do you think we should do? Oh, wait. Yeah, we should perform the CPR right away. Like we did with Leni back at the resort."
"Great idea," Bobby said as they try performing CPR on the drowned person.
"All right, we're doing great," Lori said to herself.
"Well, Mom. Anything else we need to do?" Ronnie Anne said to Lori.
"I think I should probably put my lips on him to help him breathe," Lori said and proceeds to put her lips on the incidental to help him breathe, the incidental then coughs for a bit and wakes up, "Hey, you...you're alright."
"Whe...where am I? What's going on?" Incidental 204 asked, "Am I back at the shore?
"Well, we saw you drowning in the water and we all came to your help and saved you. And we had to try and wake you up, and I even had to do it mouth to mouth," Lori said.
"You actually tried to wake me up?" Incidental 204 asked.
"Of course, we even performed CPR on you," Lori explained.
"Thanks, Lori. I appreciate you saving my life," Incidental 204 asked.
By that moment, a crowd comes into a big circle surrounding Lori, Bobby, Lincoln, Ronnie Anne and Lily who have saved Incidental 204 from drowning.
"Did you see what happened?" A little girl asked.
"I sure did, dudette. Lori just saved a person's life," Scooter explained, "And Bobby and their kids helped.
"Wow, is she like a new lifeguard here in the town?" A little boy asked.
"It sounds like she is," A man asked.
Suddenly the beach's master lifeguard comes closer to the family who saved the incidental's life.
"I haven't seen anything like this only one other time," the master lifeguard said in surprise as he bows down to them, "It was a like a daring family sacrifice. Lori has... saved a person's life... with help from her family.
"Wow. They did?" Scooter asked.
"Guys, this family here should be praised for their dedication to saving people's lives and trying to make them better," the master lifeguard explained and they all start cheering, "So if you guys are feeling it, we should all have fun with these lifesavers."
They all start cheering again and continued to have fun altogether.
"So, Ready to go in the water?" Lori said in happiness.
"All right! Let's head in together," Ronnie Anne said cheerfully.
"Sure," Lincoln said happily as they all then run towards the water, and make a jump together, "Wow, Mom! You and Dad are fast!"
"Yeah, we sure are. So, uh...what are you gonna do about it, kids?" Lori asked as Lincoln and Ronnie Anne both smirked at her and Bobby.
"This!" Lincoln said as he and Ronnie Anne both splash Lori and it gets on Bobby and Lily, too and they all grin.
"Oh, it's on now!" Lori said happily.
"Yeah! Bring it!" Bobby said happily and the five all splash each other and begin to playfully wrestle. After about fifteen minutes, the five get out of the water and sit on their spot.
"Wow! That was fun, Mom and Dad!" Lincoln said happily.
"It sure was, kids," Lori said happily.
"Now this is what I call a real vacation!" Ronnie Anne said happily.
"Fun! Fun! Fun!" Lily babbled happily.
"Yeah, kids. This is a really fun 4th of July this year," Bobby said happily as he and Lori then notice a couple of teenagers playing a game of volleyball.
"Hey, Lincoln, Bobby. You wanna play at little volleyball together?" Lori suggested.
"Sure, Mom and Dad! Count us in!" Lincoln agreed.
"Yeah, I'm in.
"Poo-poo!" Lily agreed as they along with their parents Bobby and Lori walked over to some teenagers who were playing volleyball.
"Hey, fellas. You're playing volleyball, aren't you?" Bobby asked.
"Of course, we are, dude. We're just playi..." The teenagers then discover that it's Bobby and Lori, and their kids, Lincoln, Ronnie Anne, Lily, who have saved someone from drowning earlier, "Wait, you're the family that saved a person from drowning earlier."
"Oh, my. Lori is such a brave young lifeguard. Gotta love that beautiful thin skin you got, babe," an older teenage boy replied.
"Aw, gee, thank you. But, Bobby's already got a babe. And that's me. Isn't that right, honey?" Lori replied as she and Bobby fold their arms around one another's elbow.
"Gee, dear. You're sure the dear babe perfect for me," Bobby replied while Lori blows on her lifeguard whistle cheerfully.
"Would you like it if the four of us joined in on a game of volleyball?" Lori asked.
"Sure, Lifeguard Lori. And Bobby, Lincoln and Lily can all join in, too," a younger teenage boy replied.
"All right, let's get to playing," Lincoln shouted happily.
They then started playing a game of volleyball together as Lori, Bobby, Lincoln, Ronnie Anne and Lily all went against the three teenagers. Working together, the family was scoring a few times, but they were still having fun.
"Hey, you teen boys having fun there?" Lori asked happily.
"Of course we are, bro! You're fit for a real lifesaving person," an older teenage boy replied.
"Yeah, we're having fun, too. Let's keep playing 'till it's over," Bobby said happily.
As they continued playing, the three teenagers were having fun as well, and by the end of the volleyball match, the family of five won the game of volleyball.
"Wow, you guys make a great team, and a great family as well," a teenage boy commented.
"Yeah, thanks for the compliment," Lincoln replied.
"Yeah, we all appreciate it," Bobby said.
After their game of volleyball, they decided to have some more fun on the beach for a while longer. Bobby buried Lori and Ronnie Anne in the sand making them mermaids, and he also buried Lincoln and Lilly in the sand making him Ace Savvy and the Deuce. The five continued enjoying their time at the beach as the they were later seen sitting together with each other's arms on their shoulders.
"Isn't this a beautiful holiday?" Lori said softly, "The sun is shining, the birds are calling and the ocean waves are coming in."
"It sure is, Mom," Lincoln said relaxingly.
"Yeah, I agree," Bobby agreed.
"Yeah, such a great summer vacation this year," Ronnie Anne said softly.
"Goo..." Lily agreed when suddenly something came to Lori.
"Oh boy, it's ten minutes close to 10:00 A.M., guys," Lori realizes, "We better get to the Royal Woods Community Swimming Pool for the big pool party."
"Yes, let's..." Bobby replied before they all get their beach stuff together and get in the car and drove to the Royal Woods Community Swimming Pool to be in time for the pool party. When they got to the pool, they noticed many of their friends are there, dressed up in swim attire for the pool party and all chattering to one another. When Bobby, Lori, Lincoln, Ronnie Anne and Lily all enter the pool, the friends stop chattering and look at the five with surprised looks on their faces.
"Oh, my. Who are these people?" Dana asked.
"Why, those must be the "Family of Five," Becky replied.
"Those dudes must have done something sacrificial earlier today," Tad said as they were about to put their pool items down when their friends crowd them.
"Oh my god, everybody! It really is them!" Chas said as they started cheering and crowding them.
"Okay, everyone! You're crowding us too much!" Lori said nervously.
"You must be the family that saved a person's life at the beach," Whitney replied.
"Lincoln, is it true that you and your family all saved a person from drowning in the water?" Mollie asked happily.
"Lori, what you really did at the beach today was such a beloved sacrifice," Carol said cheerfully, "They're going to be talking about you guys all around the news within this coming week."
"Oh, my god. They are?" Lori asked in surprise.
"Yeah. It was such a beloved sacrificial act you all made," Jordan replied.
"Yeah, I'd say this is such a spectacular deed," Mollie commented.
"It was such a thrill to find out about it on the radio," Joy commented.
"I'd have to say, that was quite risky, but it looks like we all did it!" Ronnie Anne replied.
"Yeah," Lori said happily and they were all in awe, "Well, everyone. Let's have a party here at this pool."
They all cheer in response as their pool party begins. They start it out with spraying sunscreen all over their bodies before getting in the pool and they start having fun in the pool with a few of them laying on the deck under the sunlight. Meanwhile, Lori, Bobby, Ronnie Anne and Lincoln were swimming together in the pool when all of a sudden Carol squirts them with a water gun.
"Ahhh! Carol, what was that for?" Lori said excitedly.
"You got squirted by water!" Carol laughed as she jumped into the water making a splash on them.
"Oh, so that's how you want to play?" Lori said happily.
"Well, look who's about the make some splashes," Dana said excitedly as they all started chasing one another as all the other friends jump into the pool and they start splashing one another with their pool items, specifically pool noodles.
"You know? Lori's right! This is fun!" Chas said happily.
"Yeah! This is fun!" Whitney said happily.
"Totally rad, man!" Jordan said happily.
"Chicken fight ensuing!" Ronnie Anne shouted happily and they all start having a chicken fight with one another in the pool while Lori and her kids were splashing one another alongside Carol, Dana, Whitney, Mollie and Jordan.
"Yeah, that's way more like it," Jordan said happily.
"Yeah! This is totally chill, lady!" Carol said happily.
"Oh, and while I'm at it, Carol..." Lori makes a huge wave in the water using her arm as she splashes some of their friends and sends them almost to the other side of the pool.
"Whoa, wicked, man," Carol said happily.
"That's quite cool!" Dana said happily.
"Yeah! This is amazing! Definitely a great way to spend the summer vacation!" Mollie said happily.
"What better time this summer than the 4th of July today?" Whitney said happily.
For the next hour and a half, Bobby, Lori, Lincoln, Ronnie Anne, Lily and all of their friends spent their time swimming around the pool, while also splashing themselves with water, and even swimming underwater in the pool. Even Bobby joined in on the fun by playing with Lincoln, Ronnie Anne and Lily along with their mother Lori and their friends. By around noon, they were all relaxing in the pool chairs, drying off under the hot sun.
"Boy, it's been such a fun party here at the pool today," Dana said happily.
"Yeah, and it's even better that Lori picked July 4th as the day which is today that we'd throw the party," Mollie said happily.
"Well, everyone. Thank you all for coming here today at this lovely 4th of July Pool Party here at the Royal Woods Community Swimming Pool," Lori thanked as everyone applauds at her, "And now it is time to say goodbye until later this evening. Please head on back home and prepare for the big 4th of July party at Ketcham Park which starts at 4:30. Until then, take care, everyone while we all have some lunch," and they all applaud as they all left the Royal Woods Community Swimming Pool as several of them went back home to prepare for the party at Ketcham Park later this evening. Lori was then checking off the list, "Pool Party at Royal Woods is complete. Next is a lunch date at Gus' Games N' Grub."
"Yep. That's the place," Bobby agreed.
"Yep. Time for lunch, fellas," Lincoln replied as they all got into the car and drove to Gus' Games n' Grub for a little lunch. When they arrived there, the five got settled in at one of the dining room tables at the restaurant.
"Hey, fellas. Welcome to Gus' Games n' Grub. Are you here to play some games at our arcade section?" the waiter suggested.
"No. We just came here to eat some lunch," Lori replied.
"Oh, okay then, how may I help you for lunch this afternoon?" the waiter asked.
"Hmmm, A large pizza for the four of us with a side of mozzarella sticks," Lori replied.
"And some drinks?" the waiter demanded.
"Five Dr. Peppers, please," Lori finished.
"Very good, ma'am. That'll be approximately six dollars," the waiter explained.
"No need to worry, waiter. I got plenty of money to cover it," Lori said happily as she pulls a crisp $10 bill out of her wallet that should be enough for all of it and hands the $10 bill over to the waiter.
"Thanks, ma'am. Your lunch will be ready in about 15 minutes," the water explained before he heads back into the kitchen to make the order. While the order is being made, Bobby, Lori, Lincoln and Lily were all chatting at the table.
"Well, so far, this 4th of July has been spectacular. We spent our morning having fun at the beach, and bringing up a pool party for our friends," Bobby said happily.
"Yep, and now, we're down to seeing a movie at the theater this afternoon," Lincoln said happily.
"And it's followed by Mom hosting the big party at Ketcham Park this evening," Ronnie Anne said happily.
"Yep, and I'm pretty sure that this pizza we're about to eat is going to keep us going happy and lively," Lori said happily.
"Order up, fellas," the waiter called as he arrives with the lunch.
"Oh, boy. The food must be here," Lori said happily.
Right on time, the pizza and mozzarella sticks have arrived.
"Here you go, fellas. Enjoy your lunch. Bon appetit," the waiter thanked as he heads back to his workstation.
"Wow, a fresh three-meat pizza with mozzarella sticks," Lincoln said happily.
"With some extra marinara sauce for the sticks," Bobby said happily.
"Well, let's not just sit here with our stomachs rumbling," Lori said happily.
"Yep. Everybody, dig in," Bobby said happily.
"Don't mind if we do, Mom and Dad," Ronnie Anne said happily and they then started eating their pizza and mozzarella sticks. Each person had two slices since the pizza was cut into ten slices. While they were eating their lunch, they were really enjoying the beloved pizza lunch.
"Mmm. Mmm. Mmm. This pizza is quite the complements to a chef," Lori said happily.
"Goo!" Lily said happily as she giggles.
"Yeah, this is delicious," Lincoln said happily.
"Nothing like lunch this afternoon at Gus's," Lincoln agreed.
As the hour passed, they continued eating their lunch. Around 1:00 P.M., the family finished eating their lunch and decided to head to Royal Woods Cinema. When they arrived, they went up to the entrance.
"Hello. Welcome to the Royal Woods Cinema, how may I help you this afternoon?" the salesperson asked.
"Four tickets for the 1:00 P.M. showing of "The Adventures of the Great Mouse Detective" please," Lori suggested.
Movie Ticket Salesperson: That will be $18.55," the salesperson said as Lori brings out her MasterCard credit card and places it on a knucklebuster and out comes a receipt that Lori signs with a spare pen of hers, "Thank you. Enjoy the movie."
"Thank you," Lori said softly as they all went inside. There, they head to the concession stand.
"Hi, welcome to the concession stand. How may I help you this afternoon?" The concession stand worker asked.
"A large bucket of popcorn for me and Bobby and 2 medium buckets for the kids," Lori explained.
"Wow. That's very nice, honey," Bobby said softly.
"And of course, 2 things of nachos for the kids well," Lori added.
"Nachos?" Lincoln, Ronnie Anne and Lily asked in shock.
"And two large sodas for me and Bobby and 2 medium for Lincoln and Ronnie Anne and a small for Lily. How much is it for all that?" She pulls out the credit card, "Because my credit card is ready to take the deal.
"That will be a total of $24.80," The stand worker said.
"That's great! I'll take it!" Lori said as she places the credit card again on another knucklebuster and out comes a receipt that Lori signs with a spare pen of hers. The stand worker then accepts the receipt and then grabs two large buckets and one medium bucket and fills them all up with popcorn. The stand worker also makes two little bowls of nachos for the kids with plenty of cheese on it along with 2 large cups, 2 medium cups and a small cup. Lori, Bobby, Lincoln, Ronnie Anne and Lily all grab the snacks and cups.
"Thank you. Enjoy the movie," the Concession Stand Worker replied.
Lori and the others then head on over to the drink vendor and they poured ice in all four of their cups and then poured out drinks of their choice. Lori poured some Diet Pepsi into her cup, Bobby poured Cheerwine into his cup and Lincoln poured Dr. Pepper into his, Ronnie Anne's and Lily's cups. Afterwards, they put lids on their cups and got straws for each of then, they went to the butter dispenser and flavored their popcorn buckets with lots of butter. They all then got their tickets to see "The Adventures of The Great Mouse Detective" at the movie theater, which was at movie theater room #7. When they made it to the room, they were just in time to see the movie which started around 1:10 P.M.
"Wow. We've got some amazing seats here in this cinema room," Lori said relaxingly.
"Yeah, their nachos are quite a blast with plenty of extra cheese," Lincoln commented.
"Yeah, I agree, Lincoln," Ronnie Anne agreed, "Sure am glad that Mom payed for our nachos."
"Goo-goo!" Lily agreed.
"Well, why did you order the kids some nachos, dear?" Bobby asked.
"Well, just in case if they still have munchies," Lori said as she giggles.
As soon as Lori finished what she said, the infamous THX deep note starts playing as the he light dims and then brightens a bit.
"Shhhh, the movie's about to start," Ronnie Anne whispered.
The movie screen then came on, showing a black background with a blue outline outline of a rectangle with the gray text "The Audience is Listening" fading inside the outline for a few seconds before fading out.
"I've got a bad feeling about this," Lincoln said nervously.
"Poo-poo," Lily said nervously.
"I can't look," Ronnie Anne said nervously.
As soon as the main THX logo in silver appeared, the Deep Note started getting louder, to the point where the sound shakes the theater/cinema, as several moviegoers coil back in their seats in fear, with one of the moviegoer's glasses breaking in a close-up shot, and the man beside him having his teeth shatter in another close-up shot. Several more shots show an exit sign exploding, the ceiling beginning to crumble and fall, and a man's head even exploding.
After the chaos ensues, back on the theater screen, the blue outline is now gone and the words "LUCASFILM LTD." and "SOUND SYSTEM" appear above and below the THX respectively, as the THX logo shines while the audience cheers for the logo. The theater screen then fades to black.
"All right. Time for the film to start," Lincoln said happily as the audience quieted down.
The 1985 Walt Disney Pictures logo then appears on the screen as its trademark 1985 music comes on, indicating that the movie is about to start.
"Shhh, quiet everybody, it's starting," Lori whispered.
After the WDP logo, the movie begins right at the opening scene in 1897 London with Olivia's 5th birthday.
"Hooray!" they all cheered.
"You know, Daddy, this is my very best birthday," Olivia said happily.
"Ahh... but I haven't given you your present yet," Flaversham replied.
"What is it? What is it?" Olivia demanded cheerfully.
"Now, now. Close your eyes," Flaversham suggested as he moves to a small cupboard as Olivia tries to sneak a peek between her fingers, "Uh-uh-uh-uh. Auch, no. No peeking now."
Olivia giggles as Flaversham returns to the table, a small toy in his hand that resembles a flowerbud.
"Oh, my. Is that a ballerina I see?" Lori whispered.
"Ballerina/Balleywina," Ronnie Anne and Lily whispered.
On the theater screen, Flaversham winds the key and sets it in front of her. As a gentle tune plays, Olivia opens her eyes and sees that the bud has turned into a mouse ballerina, who dances for her.
"Oh, Daddy! You made this just for me?" Olivia said happily.
Outside, a peg-legged figure slowly approaches. He cackles evilly as his shadow looms over the door to the toy shop.
Inside, the doll has finished her dance, and Olivia gets down from her chair to hug Flaversham, "You're the most wonderful father in the... in the whole world!"
The whole theater was in awe when suddenly, the tender moment is interrupted as the locked door begins to rattle. Olivia and Flaversham look towards the door as the rattling becomes more intense. Flaversham puts his arms around his daughter protectively.
"Who is that?" Olivia shouted.
"I-I don't know! Quickly, dear, stay in here and don't come out!" Flaversham screamed as he hides her in the cupboard and stands in front of it, when all of a sudden, a bat named Fidget bursts in though the window making a threatening face, scaring the entire audience and causing Lori, Bobby and their kids to scream but the audience gasps. From inside her hiding place, Olivia cracks the door and watches in terror as her father and Fidget struggle. The table flies towards the cupboard, shutting the door and pushing Olivia back.
"Now I gotcha, toy maker!" Fidget said as he cackles, which leaves the audience scared.
"Oh! Olivia!"
Olivia pushes against the door and is able to move the table. She creaks the door open and steps out. In was slient, when the shop is dark; furniture is scattered as empty paint buckets are spilling out. Olivia goes to the window, calling out to Flaversham.
"Daddy, where are you?" Olivia called, "Daddy…where are you?! Daddy! DADDY!"
As Olivia's cries echo in the night, the camera zooms out into the clouds. Back at the theater room with the family of five.
"Oh, my. This is a pretty dark start to a movie so far," Lori said in fear.
"Yeah, it really is, Mom. This is really giving us chills," Ronnie Anne said in fear.
About a few minutes later as the movie went on, they were still enjoying the movie as Lincoln, Ronnie Anne and Lily were eating some of the cheesy nachos.
Meanwhile, on the giant theater screen, Olivia has told Basil her story, who has taken the case, and is enjoying a pipe.
"This case is most intriguing with its multiplicity of elements…its many twists and turns," Basil said as he turns to Olivia, "Now, you're certain you've told me everything? The slightest detail may be important.
"It's just as I said. And then my father was gone," Olivia explained.
"What do you make of it?" Dawson asked.
Back in the theater room with the family of four...
"Olivia said that her father was gone," Lincoln whispered.
"Yeah, because some wicked bat stole him from Olivia," Lori whispered.
"And it's kind of what sets up what might happen next," Ronnie Anne whispered.
"Poo..." Lily whispered.
"Shhhhh..." Bobby whispered to them.
Back on the theater screen, Basil is pacing as Olivia follows him.
"Hmm. Ratigan's up to something. A crime of the most sinister nature no doubt," Basil explained, "The question is…what would he want with a toy maker?"
Olivia has stopped by the window. Fidget pops down from above as lightning strikes, causing Olivia to scream, "Aaaaaaah!"
The audience was frightened again and Lori and Ronnie Anne both screamed, covering their faces due to the sight of the bat.
"Lori, Ronnie Anne, calm down," Bobby whispered.
"Sorry, honey. I feel like that bat's gonna give us nightmares for a while," Lori was whispering and scared.
"Yeah, bats are definitely not friendly creatures," Ronnie Anne shivered a bit.
Back on the theater screen...
"Quickly, Dawson! We've not a moment to lose!" Basil called.
"Uh, uh I'm right behind you, Basil," Dawson shouted as they rush outside, but Fidget is already gone. Basil looks around and kneels down to look at the sidewalk, where Fidget has left behind his muddy footprints, "No sign of the blackguard anywhere."
"Not quite, Dawson. He left some rather unusual footprints. They obviously belong to the same fiend who abducted the girl's father - Ratigan's peg-legged lackey," Basil exclaimed.
To add to this pile of evidence, Dawson discovers Fidget dropped his hat.
"Uh…Basil?" Dawson asked but Basil becomes delighted as he snatches up the hat.
"Ah-ha! Excellent work, old man. Ha, ha, ha!"
Standing in the doorway are Olivia and Mrs. Judson, who is comforting the young girl.
"Now… there's nothing to be afraid of, my dear," Mrs. Judson added.
As an excited Basil rushes by, Mrs. Jusdon pulls Olivia back, glaring at Basil for his insensitivity. Dawson enters behind him.
"The scoundrel's quite gone," Dawson replied as Basil throws off his robe and changes into his detective outfit.
"Ha-ha! But not for long, Miss Flamhammer," Basil exclaimed.
"Flaversham!" Olivia called as Basil changed into a brown jacket for his detective work.
"Whatever. Now, we simply pursue our peg-legged friend until he leads us to the girl's father," Basil explained.
"Then you'll get my daddy back?" Olivia said happily as she rushes over and hugs Basil tightly.
"Yes!" Basil agreed as he pushes Olivia down and pulls his legs free from her grasp, "And quite soon, if I'm not mistaken. Now, hurry along, Dawson. We must be off to…Toby's," he retrieves an Inverness cape from a suit of armor and puts it on.
"Toby's?" Dawson asked.
"Oh, you must meet him. He's just the chap for this," Basil said as he adds a deerstalker cap.
"You-you want me to come?" Dawson asked.
"Ha! I should think a stouthearted army mouse like you would leap at the chance for adventure," Basil demanded.
"Well, heh, heh. I am rather curious," Dawson said nervously.
"Wait for me! I'm coming too!" Olivia shouted.
Back inside the theater room...
"Yeah, you go, Basil! Go find that bat and bring them to justice!" Lincoln and Ronnie Anne whispered happily.
"There you go, kids. Keep that spirit high," Lori whispered happily.
More time passes as they enjoy the movie. About a half hour later inside the theater, Basil and Dawson are in a pub called "The Rat Trap."
"What's your pleasure, mates?" The barmaid asked.
"Uh.. I'll have a dry sherry with… oh perhaps a twist of..." Dawson said before Basil has clamped his hand over Dawson's mouth, and has adopted a tough-sounding Cockney accent to cover up his associate.
"Two pints for me and my shipmate," Basil said in a tough-sounding Cockney accent, "Oh, by the way. We just got into port. We're looking for an old friend of mine. Maybe you know him. Goes by the name…of Ratigan!
At the mention of Ratigan, the barmaid gasps, as well as several poker players and the pianist, which left the audience shocked. They stare at Basil in shock as the barmaid recovers from her shock, clearly unwilling to admit her knowledge of the criminal mastermind.
"I, uh…never heard of him," The barmaid replied.
Dawson is nervous at all the stares, but Basil seems to be pretty pleased with the reaction he got.
"Wow, how did those directors at Disney come up with this stuff?" Lincoln whispered.
"Yeah, how were they able to come up with a scene like this?" Ronnie Anne whispered.
"Maybe they must have been going to bars often when they were young adults," Bobby whispered back to the kids.
The pianist has started another song, and the curtains open to reveal a salamander on a unicycle, exhausted from the effort of holding a huge frog on his shoulders. The patrons immediately resume booing and throwing food and weapons onstage. As a knife strikes the piano, the pianist nervously begins the third act. The patrons are already armed with chairs, darts, and one with an ax, ready to throw them at whoever is next. But when the curtains open, a pretty lady mouse stands onstage, wearing a blue tank top, purple skirt, and pink shawl. The patrons slowly lower their weapons as she begins to sing to them.
"My my, who is that pretty lady on the screen?" Lori asked.
"Dearest friends, dear gentlemen, Listen to my song, life down here's been hard for you, Life has made you strong, Let me lift the mood with my attitude"
"Here we go, folks," Lori said quietly.
On the theater screen, as the beat picks up, she begins to strut onstage as every eye is focused on her, bouncing along with her song. Dawson looks as though he's fallen in love, "Hey fellas, the time is right, get ready, tonight's the night, Boys, what you're hopin' for will come true, So let me be good to you"
Basil seems to be the only one uninterested in the singer. He turns over to the bar and sees the barmaid whisper something into the bartender's ear, who discreetly pours the contents of a vial into two mugs of beer.
"You tough guys, you're feelin' all alone, you rough guys, The best o' you sailors and bums, All o' my chums"
Back in the theater room, Lori was singing along with the song quietly.
"So dream on and drink your beer, get cozy 'cuz our baby's here, you won't be misunderstood, let me be good to you," Lori sang along quietly, "Hit it!"
Back on the theater screen, the curtains pull back, and Miss Kitty is joined by two other twin lady mice, in pink hats, dresses and black elbow length gloves.
"Hey fellas, I'll take off all my blues, Hey fellas, There's nothin' I won't do just for you!"
During these lyrics, Miss Kitty puts on black gloves, removed her shawl, and ripped off her skirt, revealing her garter and feather boa around her waist. The patrons whistle, and one is being restrained as he tries to climb onstage; Miss Kitty kicks him down. She then points to Dawson, who seems very bashful now. She leaves the stage, leaving the other lady mice onstage to dance for the pub. Meanwhile, The barmaid has returned to Basil and Dawson's table, and hands them their drinks.
"There you are, boys. It's uh… on the house," the barmaid presented them their drinks.
"I say, how very generous," Dawson replied.
Suspicious of the contents of the vial and this generous offer, Basil swirls his finger in the beer and takes a small taste, which confirms his suspicions.
"Dawson…these drinks have been…" but unfortunately, Dawson has already drained his beer, "Drugged!"
Back in the theater room, Bobby and Lily were shocked while Lori and Ronnie Anne were still attracted by the song.
"What in the name of... looks like it must be real beer," Bobby whispered.
"How did they come up with this stuff for a family movie?" Lincoln whispered.
Back on the theater screen, Basil was irritated until he hears the sound of a peg-legged figure approaching. Fidget's attention is focused on the showgirls as well, and doesn't notice that Basil has seen him. That is until Fidget's peg gets caught in a hole in the floorboard, and he falls and angrily yanks his foot out, sending himself stumbling back into the bar. During this, Miss Kitty has come back on stage and is finishing her song.
"So dream on and drink your beer, get cozy, your baby's here, hey boys, I'm talkin' to you"
"If it isn't our peg-legged friend. Dawson, ooh hoo, what luck!" Basil said but unfortunately, Dawson was gone, "Dawson?" He looks towards the stage and discovers his friend has joined the dance. He is more panicked, "Dawson!"
Back in the theater room, Lori and Ronnie Anne were singing along while Bobby was shocked to see Dawson all drunk and slurred.
"Holy... did Dawson get drunk already?!" Bobby whispered, but Lori didn't reply nor did Ronnie Anne since they were still singing along.
"Your baby's gonna come through, let me be good to you!" Lori and Ronnie Anne both sang along and back on the theater screen, the twins each give Dawson a kiss on the cheek. He giggles, then drunkenly twirls right of stage and onto the piano. Miss Kitty strikes one final pose, "Yeah!"
Back at the theater screen, Lori and Ronnie Anne both stroke a final pose while sitting and drinking their drink. Lincoln was applauding the performance.
"Woo-hoo! Go, Momma! Work that out!" Lincoln, Ronnie Anne and Lily applauded.
"Okay, kids. That's enough," Bobby whispered before they stop applauding and continue eating their popcorn.
Back on the theater screen, a dazed Dawson is having visions of showgirls dancing around his head. The pianist, angry that Dawson is on his piano, is ready to hit him with a plank, but just as he swings, Dawson slumps down again. The pianist instead hits the head of a big mean-looking mouse, who stands up and prepares to fight. Nervously though, the pianist tries to hide the plank, but the larger mouse grabs him by the neck and raises his fist. The pianist ducks the punch, which hits the piano instead. The piano crashes into the band members like a bowling ball hitting pins, sending them and Dawson flying in separate directions. And one of the band members accidentally fell on the table with a root beer mug falling on the floor and then the table broke in half with a big crash. Dawson lands on his back as a full-blown bar fight breaks out. Mice are strangling each other, hitting them with whatever they can, be it a shoe, a chair, or kicking them as they swing from a ceiling lamp. The barmaid and bartender rush over to break up the fight as Fidget enjoys his mug of Rodent's Delight. However, Several gunshots go off, some of which shatter the light bulbs. Basil has found Dawson and is helping him sit up, lightly slapping his cheek to wake him up.
"Dawson? Dawson!" Basil screamed since the drug is wearing off, and the sounds of gunfire awake Dawson.
"What? What?" Dawson asked in shock and sees the riot in progress, "What in heaven's name is going on?"
"I've spotted our peg-legged..." but Basil looks to the bar, but Fidget is gone. he helps Dawson to his feet to begin looking for the bat, "Come on, old fella. There's not a moment to lose."
The bar riot has become even more violent. Basil sees a trapdoor behind the bar and he and Dawson move towards it, unnoticed. The fight continues as Dawson climbs down the passageway, with Basil right behind him. Basil quietly shuts the door, just as a chair flies over and crashes into it it.
More time passed, and 20 minutes later, on the movie theater screen, Basil was inside the clock tower, amazed at the gears and cogs surrounding him. Creeping up unnoticed behind him is Ratigan, his left fist poised, ready to knock Basil down, while the other hand is clamped over Olivia's mouth. The little girl struggles and finally pulls Ratigan's hand off her.
"Basil, look out!" Olivia shouted before Basil turns as Ratigan knocks him down. Basil rolls and catches the ends of the rotating gear, trying to pull himself back up as Ratigan prepares to deliver another blow. Olivia bites his hand, making Ratigan scream in pain, giving Basil the opportunity to climb up the gear and seize the professor's cape, and tangle it between two gears. Ratigan drops Olivia to hold onto his cape to keep from getting strangled, but succeeds in kicking her off the gear. She falls, landing on a much larger gear, connected to another one that will crush her in a matter of seconds.
"Oh, dear!" Lincoln said in fear.
"I can't look!" Ronnie Anne said in fear.
Thinking quickly, Basil jumps from the gear and onto a lever, which lifts up a chain towards her. The final keg is approaching Olivia as Basil gets closer. She tries to flatten herself against the gear as Basil reaches his hand up. Basil seizes her arm just as the gears connect, and the two smile at each other as the chain continues to lift them to the top of the tower.
"Woo-hoo!" Lori shouted happily.
"Yes, Basil! Go get him!" Bobby rooted.
"Yeah!" Ronnie Anne cheered.
Down below, Ratigan's face is filled with anger. As he watches the pair make their escape, his sanity snaps, and with a burst of strength, he tears his cape in half, freeing himself. Basil and Olivia stop at the hole at the top of the tower, trapped. The camera zooms downward as the storm outside gains power. Inside, Ratigan is completely consumed by hatred. Gone is the egotistical gentleman and in his place is a terrifyingly dangerous monster. He runs through and around the many gears, his clothes becoming torn and ragged.
"Aah! Can't look!" Lincoln screamed in fear as he, Ronnie Anne and Lily looked away.
Outside, Olivia is tugging on Basil's coat and pointing to Dawson and Flaversham, who are approaching. Ratigan is getting closer. Basil realizes this, and lifts Olivia into his arms, holding her up, as it begins to rain. Dawson is holding Flaversham by his apron as the toymaker is leaning forward as far as he can, trying to reach Olivia.
"Closer, Dawson! Closer!" Basil screams as Ratigan leaps onto the striking hammer, nearly falling, but scrambles up and leaps forward. Basil is still trying to lift Olivia as high as he can, but Olivia and Flaversham can't quite make it.
Daddy, I can't reach! I can't reach!" Olivia screamed in fear.
Basil turns just in time to see Ratigan leap forward to tackle him, his deerstalker cap flying off. He grunts as Ratigan catches him midsection and the two topple downward. Olivia is tossed into the air, and caught by Flaversham who pulls her to safety. They hug, but down below Ratigan is still holding onto Basil. He tries to grasp the top of the tower, but between the rain and Ratigan's weight, he can't get a good grip. They separate as they fall down the face of the clock. Midfall, Ratigan grabs Basil again, and they hit the hour hand. Basil is sent flying across and lands, his upper body laying over the edge. His vision blurred for only a second, he moves back, visibly terrified by how high up he is. Ratigan is nowhere in sight as Dawson calls out to him, approaching the edge of the hand. The thunderstorm is meanwhile shown to be very intense.
"Basil! Over here!" Dawson called and Basil looks relieved, but is barely able to take a single step towards his friends when Ratigan attacks him from behind, lifting him up with one arm. Basil manages to wriggle free and runs up towards the edge, but with frightening speed and agility, Ratigan is there, blocking his path.
"There's no escape this time, Basil!" Ratigan growled before Basil slides down the hand and tries to put distance between himself and the raging rat, but he is there once more, blocking him. Ratigan holds out his hand and unsheathes his razor-sharp claws, and hits Basil twice with such force it sends him flying back. His friends are trying to reach him as fast as they can, but Basil can't hold out much longer.
"Oh god. This is scary!" Lori said in fear.
"Good lord!" Ronnie Anne said in fear as she hid her face from the screen.
Before he can even stand, Ratigan hits him again, this time at the face. Finally, he had drawn blood. Basil stumbled back, his hands covering a gash across his muzzle. A hard swipe across the chest knocked him off his feet. Gnashing his teeth, Ratigan swung downward as Basil turned his back on him to try and stand up. The black claws truly met their mark this time, slicing into the flesh of Basil's back and sending pieces of fur and cloth flying. Basil cried out, falling to his knees. The next heavy blow smacked him to the very tip of the hour hand. He scrambled away from the edge and staggered up again, clutching his bleeding arm in pain. Ratigan was upon him in a moment, still too rage-blind to recognize that Basil was on the verge of collapse. This was too profoundly satisfying to quit now. With yet another brutal smack to the throat, the battered mouse was flung up in the air and over the edge, where he just managed to grab hold. Ratigan snarled with savage frustration. He looked down, surveying the drop. It was a good seventy or eighty meters to the ground. Basil was staring up at him with huge, terrified eyes, his tattered jacket blowing in the gusts. Basil almost let go at the sight. Ratigan's bulging yellow eyes and enormous teeth were just above him. His head appeared small in front of the massive shoulders and shaggy muscled chest. His breath hissed noisily through his teeth as he raised a bloody hand high over his head. The Westminster chimes begin to sound, and Basil looks up at the clock tower face to see that it is 9:59 PM. Lightning strikes as Ratigan rears back.
"Oh no," Lori said in fear.
"I can't bear to watch!" Lincoln said in fear.
"Oh my god!" Ronnie Anne said in shock.
"Poo-poo!" Lily said in fear.
Basil braces himself, but Ratigan's blow sends him down. Dawson and Olivia both try to grab for him, but miss. They stare in disbelief as their friend plummets to the ground. Ratigan himself almost doesn't believe it, but a cruel smile spreads across his face as he leaps up and laughs maniacally, "I WON! AHAHAHAHAHAHA!"
However, his so-called victory is cut short…
"On the contrary!" Basil has managed to catch the propeller of the ruined dirigible, as well as something else of value for Ratigan, "The game's not over yet!" and he rings Felicia's bell.
"I think I'm gonna be sick..." Lincoln said in fear.
"Hold on, everyone," Lori called as the five of them held on to their seats.
Back on the theater screen, 10:00 strikes and Big Ben's bell rings loudly. The vibrations cause Ratigan to lose his balance and he teeters over the edge and falls. He makes one final grab at Basil, catching him by his jacket. The ropes snap under the extra weight. Ratigan falls as Basil clings to the propeller, which has snapped free. Olivia, Dawson and Flaversham are helpless as both Ratigan and Basil, screaming, disappear below the clouds. The three watch for a bit as the only sounds heard are the wind and Big Ben chiming. Then Olivia turns to her father and begins to sob.
"Oh dear," Lori began to cry.
"I couldn't believe that was a brutal fight," Lincoln said in despair.
Ronnie Anne didn't say anything as she started to cry a bit, using her hands to wipe the tears away.
Back on the theater screen, a squeaking noise is approaching from below, and she leans back to look down. Basil is slowly making his way back up, pedaling with all his might as the propeller is lifting him higher. He hears his friends cheering and smiles, knowing he's safe and that Ratigan has been defeated.
"Ho ho! Hooray!" Dawson shouted happily.
"Hooray! It's Basil!" Olivia shouted happily as they all jump up and down and the audience cheers for Basil.
"Good fellow. Jolly good! Ha!" Dawson shouted happily.
The storm is over and the moon comes out as our four friends are finally together and safe and the audience is cheering.
"Hooray for Basil!" Lori shouted happily.
"You go, detective!" Bobby shouted happily.
"Yeah, all right!" Lincoln shouted happily.
"Long Live Basil of Baker Street!" Ronnie Anne said happily.
"Yay! Basil!" Lily shouted happily.
About three minutes later, the movie ends with Olivia and Flaversham saying goodbye to Basil before leaving to catch their train, and Basil and Dawson were now a close team and had many cases together. And just as the credits rolled at around 2:12 P.M., everyone cheered and applauded as they left the theater in pure happiness as the family got to use the bathroom one by one before they all come out of the theater around 2:18 P.M., and everyone is very glad they saw the movie at the theater as they were heading for the car.
"Wow! That movie was amazing!" Lori said happily.
"I'd bet them it really it was!" Bobby said happily.
"Wow! I think detective movies might be one of my big things in the near future!" Lincoln said happily and Ronnie Anne and Lily nodded their heads in agreement.
They all get inside the car and get ready to get back home in time for the 4th of July party.
"Okay, Everyone. It's time to get back home so that we have time to prepare for the 4th of July party," Lori replied and they all went back home just in time for the party.
When they got home, they discovered that their house was all set up with many 4th of July decorations set on the front porch. They got out of the car and went inside.
"Hi, everyone! We're back!" Lori called.
"Hi, you're just in time to get ready for the block party!" Rita welcomed them.
"Thank you, I'll get the grill ready to cook the hot dogs and corn-on-the-cobs," Lori said as they family got ready.
It was now 3:45 p.m. and the family was leisurely taking their time getting ready for the party. Franklin Avenue had been blocked off since two hours ago to prevent vehicular traffic from using the street. The bounce house was set up the evening before. Mr. McCauley and Mr. Stewart would be grilling the burgers. Mr. Grouse left Monday to spend the holiday with his family and would return this Sunday. Luan had contacted the organizers of the block party and asked if she could entertain the children by making balloon animals and they rented an extra table for her. Right now, she was setting up her station on the front lawn.
Rita stood at the bottom of the stairs. Lori, Bobby, Lincoln and Ronnie Anne were also at the bottom of the stairs with Lori carrying Lily in her arms.
"Kids, are you coming?! It's almost four!" Rita yelled. Everybody except except Leni appeared downstairs in seconds. The second oldest sister planned on arriving "fashionably late" like a movie star in a new outfit bought on Saturday. During that time, the sisters relaxed in their respective bedrooms. Right now, Lori, Bobby and the kids were sitting on the couch watching TV.
"Wait, I forgot Hops," Lana remarked while Lola frowned at her twin sister.
"You don't have to take that slimy creature everywhere," Lola whined.
"Lola's right, Lana. Don't take Hops with you this time," Rita demanded.
"Yeah! You know it will get you in a lot of trouble, Lana!" Lori explained to Lana.
Lana released a long sigh and replied, "Okay, I'll leave that frog here."
Bobby, Lori and the kids all came along and followed the others, but Lana deliberately lagged behind and dashed into the dining room. When the door closed, Lana rushed upstairs and placed a sleeping Hops in one of the front pockets of her shorts.
"Here comes the Loud Family. Be prepared," an unnamed lady exclaimed as the family walked towards a small crowd of people relaxing on lawn chairs. There was a basketball court next to Mr. Lambert's garage where some teenagers were just playing a casual game. Naturally, Lynn was elated but she decided to join them later. Lincoln, Ronnie Anne, Lily and their mother Lori then spotted Clyde and his parents, Harold and Holly McBride in the distance then hurried towards them to greet them while Lola and Lisa headed towards someone who was entertaining children.
"Hi Clyde," Lincoln greeted.
"Hi Mr. and Mrs. McBride," Lori greeted.
"Hey, partners. How ya doing?" Harold greeted.
"Bringing on that independence, aren't you?" Holly explained as the friends rushed off to talk with some boys, while Lynn Sr. decided to assist Mr. McCauley with setting up tables while Rita sat beside Mrs. Hart who lived near Mr. Grouse.
"Hello, Mrs. Loud, how are you?" Mrs. Hart greeted.
"I'm doing well, Mrs. Hart . I'm still working on my novel," Rita replied.
"How are your kids spending this summer, just lazing around and making noise?" Mrs. Hart asked but Rita was oblivious to the fact the last five words were meant in a derisive way.
"Well, Lori and her kids Lincoln and Lily pretty much spend all of their time together, like they're inseparable. They have been so ever since she took Lincoln in as her son soon after he was born, and Leni is working this summer as well. In fact, she's got a job at Reininger's since May of this year," Rita explained.
Mrs. Hart raised an eyebrow in surprise since she was used to the Loud children being idle during the summer. "I see," she replied nonchalantly.
"And Luan has a lot of bookings to perform at birthday parties," Rita added.
"That's nice," Mrs. Hart answered back, "In fact, I heard your husband was thinking about working at Aloha Comrade in the future. I heard the food there is excellent."
"So how is Dr. Feinstein?" another woman asked.
With Lucy, after walking around for a while, the Goth girl became intrigued upon noticing an elderly woman about seventy years old walking with her son and daughter-in-law.
"She's perfect," Lucy whispered, then approached the trio and introduced herself to the senior citizen.
"Hello, I'm Lucy. I live at 1216 Franklin Avenue. Would you mind coming over tomorrow and play a corpse at a practice funeral?" she asked.
Astonished looks came over the faces while the elderly lady gasped and placed her right hand over her mouth. "I beg your pardon," she blurted out.
"Take me to your parents immediately!" Mr. Stewart demanded.
Lucy sighed then looked around and spotted her father, Lynn Sr. who was having a conversation with Mr. McCauley and Mr. Jordan about working in the restaurant business when Lucy, Mr. Stewart and his mother appeared.
"Excuse me, Lynn Loud Sr., may I have a word with you?" Mr. Stewart asked.
Lynn Sr. gave a smile, "Uh, yeah. Go ahead."
"Your kid just asked my mother to pretend to be a corpse at a play funeral," Mr. Stewart told Lynn Sr. angrily. The father of eleven became shocked at what he just heard.
"That's not an appropriate thing to ask someone," Lynn Sr. scolded her, "Tell the lady you're sorry."
Lucy hung her head, "I'm sorry," then turned and walked away in despair as her father continued what he was doing.
At around 5:20 P.M., ten minutes were remaining until the delicious meals would be served. Mr. McCauley and Mr. Jordan started grilling the hamburgers thirty minutes ago and around the same time, Lori started grilling the hot dogs and corn-on-the-cobs on her grill and they were placing them in chafing dishes to keep warm. Mrs. Winters was placing large platters of burger buns on the table while Mrs. Stewart placed a huge bowl of potato salad. There was an assortment of pastries and dessert including three apple pies baked by Lynn Sr. and a large chocolate cake. There was also a cooler with juice boxes for the smaller children and soda for the teenagers. At the moment, Leni was just leaving the house, wearing her swimsuit with her normal socks and shoes as she had spent the last thirty minutes experimenting with makeup. She found Lisa reading a book on the porch. The little genius felt leaping around in a bounce house was demeaning to someone of her intelligence.
Meanwhile, the twins and six other children, including Camille were jumping around in the Bounce House shaped like a castle. Suddenly Camille felt something clammy on her right shoulder, turned her head to the right to see Hops who was jostled awake by Lana's jumping. Camille's eyes then widened in terror.
"EEEK, A FROG!" Camille screamed.
That scream then frightened the other children and Hops. The frog leapt towards Lana while the other girls except Lola screamed and scrambled out of the Bounce House. Lana decided to take her beloved pet home before he frightened anymore kids. The Loud Parents were conversing with the McCauleys when the commotion started. They exchanged knowing glances. "Lana," they thought simultaneously.
Camille frantically rushed to her mother's side and cried, "Mommy, a frog came from nowhere and jumped on me."
"It's all right honey," Mrs. McCauley consoled her daughter, then frowned a little.
"It's the messy twin's frog," she mused.
One time she was watering plants when she heard a girl shouting, "Hops, come back here." She turned around and saw a muddy Lana running then saw a green creature leaping towards her rose bushes. When Lana caught Hops, she said, "Sorry lady," before dashing off.
"Well, I guess we have to wait for a while until the children calm down," Mr. McCauley told Mr. Stewart.
"I agree. This is nonsense!" Mr. Stewart agreed.
Later, it was 5:35 P.M. Luan's supply of balloons ran out so she went inside the house to take off her clown costume then changed back into her swimsuit.
"Hello, everyone! Welcome to our first Fourth of July Block Party. We're ready to serve this feast so if everyone would form a line to the left, please!" Mr. Stewart called through a megaphone.
Everyone would take a burger bun and a hot dog bun, then Mr. McCauley would serve a burger patty with Lori serving a hot dog and Mr. Jordan would serve a portion of potato salad. Rita had prearranged with Ms. Johnson for a slider to be made for Lily. She told Lisa and Lola to sit at a table with eight chairs that Lynn Sr. saved for the family. Luna, who had Lily the entire time in her stroller watching the children's entertainer, placed it beside Lola and Lisa.
"Leni. Could you get a burger for Lisa, while your father and I get Lily's slider and Lola's burger?" Rita instructed. Lana had insisted on getting her own burger.
Meanwhile, Lori, Lincoln, Bobby, Ronnie Anne, Maria and Clyde who all spent this entire time having fun together with the three boys they met including a classmate, were among the first persons in line with Holly, while the other Louds were in the middle. Holly was going to take a plate of food home for her husband Harold. Mrs. Hart and her children were standing behind Leni. When they got their food, she asked Ms. Johnson to watch the grill as she got her food and went with Lincoln, Bobby, Ronnie Anne, Maria and Clyde. While the line moved along, the Louds could hear Camille McCauley pleading with her mother.
"Mom, could I get some soda? I'm tired of drinking juice," Camille suggested.
"No sweetheart, I'm afraid not. You're getting juice," Mrs. McCauley said softly.
"Just this one time, Mom? Please?" Camille begged.
"I'm sorry, hon. But this subject is closed," Mrs. McCauley said softly as she was starting to be self-conscious about everyone hearing her daughter whine. She didn't want her kids drinking soda because it led to burping.
"Sheesh, that poor child," Rita whispered.
Bobby, Lori,Lincoln, Ronnie Anne, Maria and Clyde all walked to the Louds' front porch and sat on the steps to enjoy their meal and sodas. Back at the park, Leni and Luna sat in lawn chairs next to the table to eat.
"This burger is excellent," don't you think Rita Lynn Sr. asked his wife after swallowing one bite.
"They're so juicy," Lynn Jr. admitted. She was eager to play another basketball match with the two teenage boys and girl she met.
When the smaller girls were done eating, Lola asked, "Mom could we please get cake now?"
"All right what would you like," Rita asked.
"Can I get a piece of the chocolate cake, and I want a corner piece," Lola demanded.
"Mother, I also would like a slice of that delicious chocolate confection," Lisa asked.
Lucy and Lana accompanied Rita to get some of the cake and slices of their dad's apple pie and some of Lori's corn-on-the-cob. The DJ had returned from eating and started back the music.
After eating dessert, Lucy returned home while Lana went to play with the boys from the Bounce House. Lola and Lisa decided to get their faces painted by another children's entertainer. The parents and four older girls decided to stay and enjoy the music but very soon, Rita needed to answer the call of nature. When Rita returned she spotted Lisa in the distance. To her surprise, she heard Lisa asking Tad, "Could I throw that away for you?" then Rita saw her take an empty plastic cup from him. When she saw Lisa swiping another empty cup from a table, Rita's surprise turned to suspicion. Recalling a certain incident a few months back, she walked swiftly to her daughter.
"Lisa," she began. Lisa turned around quickly.
"Where are you going with those cups young lady?" Rita accused the child.
"Well, er …" Lisa began, then gave a dishonest grin.
"Were you taking them home to get DNA samples from our neighbors?" Rita asked crossly but in a low tone of voice.
Rita said impatiently, "Don't lie to me." Lisa sighed, knowing she had no choice but to be honest.
"Okay mother, since my siblings have refused point blank to give me anymore samples of their DNA's, this was the perfect opportunity to procure samples from other humans," Lisa explained.
"Hand them over," Rita insisted. Lisa reluctantly gave the cups to her mother.
"Please sit with your father while I throw these away," Rita told her.
"And don't you leave that table," Rita called after Lisa walked away disappointed. Rita found the nearest garbage can and dumped the plastic cups.
Around 6:45 P.M., most of the neighbors have returned to their homes to await the fireworks display at 8:30 P.M. Some children were still playing in the Bounce House while the remaining adults were chatting with each other. Lori, Bobby, Lincoln, Lily, Ronnie Anne, Maria and Clyde were returning back to the park to get themselves some desserts. When they returned, they approached a table with a piece of chocolate cake that was covered with another plastic plate.
"Wow. Chocolate cake. Hey, kids, I think we should share the slice," Lori said softly to her kids.
"Yeah, Mom. I think so, too," Lincoln agreed.
Just as Lori was about to grab the plate with the chocolate cake, she felt someone shoving her to the side and saw a pink gloved hand grabbing the plate. It was no other than her younger sister, Lola.
"Princesses first," Lola shouted arrogantly.
"Lola, what are you doing here?!" Lori shouted at Lola, "I was the one that got that slice of chocolate cake and the kids and I are going to share it together!"
"Too bad," Lola said with a sing song voice.
But Lori wasn't about to let her walk away with the cake, so she thought quickly.
"Well your shoelaces are untied," Lori tricked her as Lola placed the cake on the table then looked down at her feet, then realized something.
"I don't wear laces," Lola declared, but as she looked up saw Lori about to take the plate with her and the kids Lincoln and Lily.
"HEY! LORI, GIVE IT BACK IMMEDIATELY OR ELSE!" Lola shouted but Lori wasn't scared of the aggressive girl.
"No way, Lola! Now get away from me right now before I have Dad give you a belt punishment!" Lori shouted as she prepares to attack Lola if she ever does that to her again. Suddenly, Leni's angry voice was heard.
"HEY! NOBODY PUSHES AROUND A LOUD!" Leni shouted as Bobby, Lori, Lincoln, Ronnie Anne, Lily, Maria and Clyde all turned around and saw Leni, Luna, Luan, Lynn Jr, and Lisa storming towards them with angry death glares on their faces.
"Well, well. What have we here?" Lincoln suggested.
"All right, let me explain! Lori was about to take this delighted piece of cake, but Cinder-Lola here snatched it from her!" Bobby explained.
"LIES!" Lola shouted, "Lori grabbed it out of my hands!'
"You're such a liar, Lola, and you know it!" Lori shouted before the other sisters began doubling their hands into fists and scowled even deeper.
"Who are you calling a liar, Lori?!" Luna declared at Lori.
"Lola's the one whom I'm calling a liar! And Lincoln, Ronnie and Lily are innocent kids of mine!" Lori shouted.
"LORI, APOLOGIZE TO LOLA RIGHT NOW!" Leni declared at Lori.
"For what?! Lincoln and I are both telling the truth! And you girls are not going to stop me!" Lori shouted. The sisters became more irate.
"Do it or else," Lynn Jr. snarled, doubling her fists tighter.
Lori and her own family all got together and she refused to give up the slice of cake.
"Don't even think about it, girls! You're not getting this slice of cake!" Lori shouted
"So what?! We want you to apologize to Lola right now!" Leni shouted.
"Like I said, we're telling the truth! Lola shoved me out of the way! Not only that, you girls have been out of control! Your parents should have punished you all when you were younger!" Lori shouted.
Suddenly, their parents came to them.
"What is going on here right now?!" Rita asked suspiciously.
"Yeah, what is all this shouting about?!" Lynn Sr. asked suspiciously.
Knowing Lola, who might spin a story to look all innocent, Lori stepped in and spoke with Rita and Lynn Sr. very, very quickly, "All right, Mom and Dad! Here's what happened! It all started when the six of us were returning back here to the park to get us some desert, when we approached a piece of chocolate cake that was covered with another plastic plate. Then I took it with us, given that Lincoln and I were going to share the slice. But then just as we were about to head back, Lola then shoved me to the side and grabbed the plate. I then tricked her into thinking she has shoelaces. And when she demanded me to give the slice of cake to her, I refused, and threatened to spank her if she ever did that to me again, but then, my sisters started storming towards us and they were fuming angry at us, thinking that I was lying! But I wasn't! I'm being true! And that was when they prepared to beat the living hell out of us!"
Suddenly, her parents gasped at what Lori said and they were now furious at the girls' actions and frowned at them.
"Girls, what is wrong with you?! Apologize to them right now!" Rita shouted.
"We...we...we..." Leni stuttered nervously.
"DO IT RIGHT NOW, GIRLS!" Lynn Sr. shouted.
"Sssssorry, Lori and Lincoln!" the girls replied nervously.
"Thank you! Now all of you get back home right now! You girls are not seeing the fireworks here in the park tonight because you can't even keep a lid on your anger!" Lori shouted.
"But, Lori, our parents broug..." Lynn said nervously but...
"NO BUTS, GIRLS! I SAID GET YOUR BUTTS HOME! NOW!" Lori shouted even louder.
At that moment, the terrified girls all ran home, and Rita and Lynn Sr. was met with death glares from Lori and Bobby and Maria, too.
"Lori, please. We were just having fun..." Rita said nervously.
"Why can't you two control those girls?! Look at what they could have done to Lily and Lincoln!" Lori shouted.
"Yeah, and they could have winded up in the hospital because of them!" Maria shouted.
"You better toughen up, you two! Because if you don't, Lori and the kids are going to be living with me and Ni-Ni from now on!" Bobby shouted.
"Jeez, We're sorry. We didn't know what was happening," Rita said nervously.
"Look, Lori. We won't let this happen again," Lynn Sr. said nervously.
"It better not! Now both of you get your butts home with the girls right now!" Lori shouted.
"We understand. Come on, everybody," Lynn Sr. said sadly as he and Rita both walked home, totally embarrassed by their daughters' attempt to beat up Lori and her kids. Rita was feeling uncertain about the girls right now.
"Great. There goes looking at the fireworks tonight," Rita said sadly.
"Man, Lori is a really strict daughter of ours. She's probably the one trying to keep this family as perfect as she thinks it would be because she's the mother of the only boy and the youngest girl," Lynn Sr. explained sadly.
"Let's face it. Lori's the mother of Lincoln, Ronnie Anne and Lily. I think they would all do better as just the four of them. I'm starting to think Lori's right about this. If we don't start disciplining the girls better, they're gonna live with Bobby from now on," Rita said sadly as they both continued home. Once they reached the front door, they saw the girls sitting on the couch, "Wow, girls. You're already at the couch."
"Yeah, I think it's because our sister Lola shoved Lori when she was about to take the last piece of cake and share it with her kids," Lynn replied sadly.
"Yeah, I think I should have known better than to do something this unnerving," Lola said sadly.
"Yeah, you should have, Lola," Lynn Sr. said angrily.
"Well, after what we did, I really don't have a choice. You're just going to have to punish us, Mom and Dad," Leni said dejectedly.
"And that is exactly what your father and I are both doing to you girls. So as punishment for attempting to beat up Lori and the kids, you girls are not seeing the fireworks at the park tonight!" Rita explained angrily.
"Awww!/Come on!/It's not fair!/Are you kidding me?!" Most of the girls complained.
"No, Lori told me to do something about it, so you girls are not seeing the fireworks at the park tonight and that is final!" Rita shouted angrily and the girls hang their heads in shame.
"And not only that, you girls will be going to bed at 8:30 P.M. tonight. And Leni, be lucky that you're sleeping with Lola since Lincoln and Ronnie Anne are sleeping in your bed this summer!" Leni was shocked upon hearing from her angry father that Lincoln was going to be sleeping in her bed for the night.
"And there will be no desserts for any of you girls for the next week! Do you understand us?" Rita asked angrily.
"Yes, Mom and Dad" the girls all said depressingly.
"Thank you. You're excused," Rita finished and the girls then slowly walked up the stairs depressingly to their rooms, with Leni still sleeping with Lola for the night.
Around 7:30 P.M., Bobby, Lori, Ronnie Anne, Lincoln and Lily all headed back home to the Louds' House with Maria accompanying them.
"Mom! Dad! We're home!" Lori called.
"Lori! Kids! How nice of you to all come home," Rita said happily.
"So, did you punish the girls like you were supposed to?" Lori suggested angrily.
"Yes, they're not going to see the fireworks tonight, they'll be going to bed at 8:30 tonight, and they won't have any dessert for the next week," Rita explained and Lori expression changed from angry to happy upon hearing it.
"Hmmm. That sounds like a nice punishment for them," Lincoln commented.
"You know what that means, my brother. That means that you and me and Lily and Mommy will get all the good treats for the next week while the others are stuck eating only at designated meal times," Ronnie Anne commented.
"Yeah, you know, I'm very glad you and Dad decided to punish them for the night," Lori explained in a happy tone, "And we decided that we'll all see a lot of fireworks here tonight instead."
"Hmmm, very well, Lori. You're all welcome to stay if you'd like," Rita explained.
"We always are, Rita. Those hot dogs you cooked were fabulous and the corn was just super juicy and delicious," Maria commented happily.
"Come on, everybody, let's all watch the fireworks together," Bobby said happily.
Later at around 8:45 P.M., Most of the residents of Franklin Avenue were watching the fireworks display at Ketcham Park. Meanwhile Rita, Lynn Sr., Lori, Bobby, Lincoln, Ronnie Anne, Lily, and Maria were all watching the Macy's annual Fourth of July fireworks display on their new TV that they bought last week after their visit to the therapy center with Dr. Marvin Monroe. Meanwhile on the other hand, the troublemaking sisters were in bed, struggling to fall asleep except Lola, Leni, Luna and Lynn who all fell asleep quickly. Meanwhile, Lori was sharing the slice of chocolate cake with Lily, Ronnie Anne and Lincoln that she brought home from the park with was thankfully still in good shape.
"Yeah, this holiday was great so far this year, everybody," Lori said happily.
"Yep, Mom's the one that brings up the plans," Lincoln agreed.
"Yep, and Daddy's got the brains whenever he's here," Bobby agreed.
Later that night around 11:00 P.M. after the Macy's fireworks display ended, Lori bid a farewell to Maria as she headed on back home to get some sleep, and Rita and Lynn Sr. were getting into bed. They were satisfied at the punishment they put out on their daughters.
"Hey, honey. Do you think the girls' behavior will improve after their punishment?" Lynn Sr. said to his wife.
"We can only hope," Rita responded, "Good night honey," then kissed him on his left cheek before they turned off their lamps.
"I really hope it does," Rita thought tiredly before yawning.
In Lori's bedroom, Lori was lying in her bed after she finished up her schedule with Bobby snuggling up with her and Lincoln, Ronnie Anne and Lily were sleeping in Leni's bed, as the five were really thinking about what was gonna happen for the next week.
"Well, it was such a great 4th of July this year. We went to the beach, had a pool party, ate lunch at Gus', went to the theater to see Basil the Great Mouse Detective, and we attended the 4th of July Block Party at Ketcham Park. It's a shame that the block party went awry due to the girls being such immature wild brats. But hopefully after this week, they'll learn to act better," Lori said to the viewers before she yawns, indicating that she's about to fall asleep, "Boy, I need some rest. I got another big day ahead tomorrow."
With that, she falls asleep with Bobby, Lincoln and Lily in their beds in her bedroom for the night.
